INSTRUCTIONS
battery
A battery can leak and damage the watch. If your
watch stops running, you should bring it to an
Authorized Patek Philippe Retailer immediately
where its battery will be replaced and its water
resistance verified. Quartz watches also need to be
serviced every three to five years. A battery change
is not an overall service.
Caliber E 23-250 S C movements indicate the end of
the battery life when the seconds hand advances in
increments of four seconds instead of one second.
rapid date correction
To quickly set the date, gently pull the winding
crown out to the middle position (position 2) and
turn it clockwise until the correct date appears in
the aperture.

8setting the time
To set the time, gently pull the winding crown out
(position 2 for watches without a date, position
3 for watches with a date) and turn it clockwise
or counterclockwise. When you move the hands
beyond midnight, the date display will advance by
one day. Once the hands are set to the correct time,
push the crown all the way home again.
Watches with seconds hands can be synchronized
to a time signal with one-second accuracy. As soon
as you pull the crown out to position 3, the sec-
onds hand will stand still. It will restart the instant
you push the crown home again.
Caution: Please set the time before you put the watch on.
This way, you can avoid lateral pressure on the stem which,
in the course of the years, could damage the stem tube. Please
use your fingernails to pull the crown out and turn it gently
between two fingertips.
Never pull out the crown in a humid environment or underwa-
ter: the water resistance of your watch is assured only when
the crown is pushed home.
non-use of the watch
If you do not intend to use your watch for an
extended period of time, you can disable the
movement by gently pulling the crown out to
position 3. This prevents unnecessary discharging
of the battery.
If your watch has a screw-down crown (Aquanaut
models), it must be unscrewed before you can set
the time or the date. When it is unscrewed, pull
the crown out to positions 2 or 3 to make the set-
tings. Then push the crown back home and screw
it down again.

OF YOUR WATCH
certificate of origin
Your watch is delivered with a certificate of origin
that indicates the movement and case numbers.
The certificate is valid only if it is dated, signed by
an Authorized Patek Philippe Retailer, and com-
pleted with your name. It guarantees the authen-
ticity of your watch and validates your warranty
privileges for a period of two years after the date
of sale. The unique movement and case numbers of
each watch are transcribed into the workshop jour-
nals. With this information, you may have yourself
entered in the Patek Philippe Register of Owners
and will obtain the International Patek Philippe Magazine
free of charge.
quality control
Patek Philippe’s quartz movements and watches are
subject to several weeks of tests and inspections
to verify their rate accuracy, reliability, functional
integrity, and overall appearance. They do not
leave the workshops before they thoroughly fulfill
all of our quality requirements, agreed to be the
most stringent in the entire Swiss watchmaking
industry.

rate accuracy
Patek Philippe quartz movements leave our work-
shops with a rate deviation ranging from +127 to
–18 seconds per year. Fluctuations in position, tem-
perature, or air pressure, the presence of magnetic
fields (as produced by most electronic devices,
metal detectors, household appliances, etc.) as
well as vibrations and other factors may also affect
their accuracy.
If you notice that your watch exhibits such irreg-
ularities, please do not hesitate to take it to an
Authorized Patek Philippe Retailer or an Authorized
Service Center where no effort will be spared to
assure that it is adjusted to meet your expectations.
water resistance
Your watch is fitted with different types of seals
and for some models with a screw-down crown
to protect the movement against the ingress of
dust and moisture and to prevent damage if it is
immersed in water. Nonetheless, we recommend
that you prevent direct contact with water if your
watch has a leather or satin strap.

We recommend that you have your watch ser-
viced every three to five years. For this purpose,
we suggest that you bring or send your watch
to an Authorized Patek Philippe Retailer or an
Authorized Service Center. This gives you the
assurance that your watch will be entrusted to
hands of a qualified Patek Philippe watchmaker in
Geneva or at an Authorized Service Center.
The watchmaker will completely disassemble the
movement and then clean and inspect all parts and
lubricate them in the reassembly process. After
thoroughly testing all of its functions, he will also
check the water resistance of your watch. The
entire process may take several weeks because
each watch must undergo the complete test series
to fulfill the strict quality criteria of Patek Philippe.

MODE D’EMPLOI
pile
Une pile usée risque de couler et d’endommager
la montre. Si votre montre s’arrête, il est recom-
mandé de la porter sans tarder chez un détaillant
agréé Patek Philippe afin qu’il en remplace la pile
et s’assure du bon fonctionnement de la montre et
de sa parfaite étanchéité. Les mouvements à quartz
ont aussi besoin d’une révision tous les trois à
cinq ans. Le changement de pile ne constitue pas
une révision.
Pour le calibre E 23-250 S C, la fin de vie de la pile
est indiquée par l’aiguille des secondes lorsqu’elle
avance par sauts de quatre secondes au lieu d’une
seconde.
correction rapide de la date
Pour ajuster rapidement la date, tirez légèrement
la couronne de mise à l’heure à mi-course (posi-
tion 2) et tournez-la dans le sens des aiguilles de
la montre jusqu’à l’apparition, dans le guichet, du
numéro correspondant à la date.
mise àl’heure
L’heure se règle en tirant doucement la couronne
de mise à l’heure à son maximum (position 2 pour
les montres sans date, position 3 pour les montres
avec date) et en déplaçant les aiguilles dans l’un
ou l’autre sens. Si vous avancez votre montre de
24 heures, la date passera au jour suivant. Une fois
l’heure ajustée, n’oubliez pas de repousser la cou-
ronne contre le boîtier.

18 Les montres munies d’une aiguille des secondes
peuvent être réglées à la seconde près. Tirez la
couronne jusqu’à la position 3 pour arrêter l’ai-
guille des secondes. Relancez ensuite le rouage
au top précis d’un signal horaire en repoussant la
couronne contre le boîtier.
Attention: Il est préférable d’effectuer la mise à l’heure
hors du poignet afin d’éviter les pressions latérales qui, au fil
des ans, risqueraient d’endommager le tube de la couronne.
Nous vous recommandons de n’utiliser que deux doigts et de
faire levier avec l’ongle pour tirer la couronne.
Ne tirez jamais la couronne dans un environnement humide ou
dans l’eau. L’étanchéité de votre montre n’est garantie qu’avec
la couronne poussée contre le boîtier.
votre montre au repos
Si vous choisissez de ne pas porter votre montre
pendant quelque temps, mettez son mécanisme à
l’arrêt en tirant légèrement la couronne de remon-
toir jusqu’à la position 3. Ainsi la pile ne se déchar-
gera pas inutilement.
Si votre montre est équipée d’une couronne vis-
sée (modèles Aquanaut), vous devrez, avant de
la mettre à l’heure ou de changer la date, dévis-
ser complètement la couronne jusqu’à la butée.
Ensuite, tirez la couronne en position 2 ou 3, pour
procéder aux réglages. Finalement, repoussez-la
contre le boîtier et revissez-la complètement.

certificat d’origine
Votre montre Patek Philippe est accompagnée
d’un certificat d’origine mentionnant notam-
ment ses numéros de mouvement et de boîtier.
Ce document doit être dûment daté et signé par
le détaillant agréé Patek Philippe et obligatoire-
ment complété à votre nom. Il atteste l’authenti-
cité de votre garde-temps et fait office de garantie
internationale, valable deux ans à partir de la date
d’achat. Les numéros individuels de boîtier et de
mouvement de chaque montre sont archivés dans
les «livres d’établissement» de la manufacture.
En indiquant ces informations, vous pouvez vous
inscrire dans le Registre des propriétaires Patek
Philippe afin de recevoir à titre gracieux le Magazine
International Patek Philippe.
