HOW TO INSTALL THE REFRIGERATOR
Remove the packing and place the refrigerator where required. In order to get
maximum cooling from your refrigerator, follow these instructions carefully:
•Keep the refrigerator away from heat sources i.e. geysers, stoves,
heaters and direct sunlight.
•Try to install the refrigerator in a well ventilated place, and not in smaller
corners, stairs, cupboards or excessively narrow spaces. Best results
are obtained with a room temperature not exceeding 32°c.
•Make sure the refrigerator is placed on a level place.
•Insert the plug into the socket.
•Voltage range for CRYSTAL refrigerator is 175-250 volts.
IMPORTANT
•It is essential that the refrigerator should be connected to a reliable earth
point. The manufacturer will not be responsible for any loss or damage if
precaution in this regard is not observed.
STARTING THE REFRIGERATOR
Before turning the refrigerator on, clean the inside. Insert the plug in the socket,
switch on the refrigerator and check that the light inside the cabinet is on when
the door is opened. Turn the thermostat knob to the Max position, close the
refrigerator doors, let it run for about 4 hours, then turn the thermostat knob to
the Medium position (4). You will find this position more suitable normally.
HOW TO ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE
The temperature inside the refrigerator depends on:
•The room temperature
•Load inside the refrigerator
•Frequency of door opening
In order to maintain temperature inside the refrigerator in summer, keep the
thermostat at position 5-6.
If the conditions are normal, the Medium position (4) of the thermostat is
generally suitable.
SINGLE DOOR REFRIGERATOR
Under the water collector, there is an adjustable deflector which allows you to
modify the distribution of inside temperature of the refrigerator. In order to obtain
correct functioning of the appliance, it is suggested that you adjust the deflector
as follows:

When the room temperature is ranging between 25 to 38°C, keep the deflector in
the open position.
When the room temperature is lower, the refrigerator effect in the compartment
under the freezer can be increased or decreased by adjusting the position of the
deflector (fitted beneath the water collector). When the room temperature is
lower (as in winter), keep the deflector in closed position.
HOW TO USE THE REFRIGERATOR
A. FREEZER COMPARTMENT
The freezer compartment can freeze and also store frozen food for a long time.
Here are some suggestions for proper use of the freezing compartment:
•When freezing, the thermostat knob can be adjusted to the medium
position (4) for satisfactory performance.
•Freezing time depends on quantity of food to be frozen; freezing may be
considered complete after 24 hours.
•Keep food in small quantities for quick freezing.
•Wrap up food in proper sheets (plastic sheets or aluminum foil).
•Place the packets to be frozen along the walls of freezer.
•To increase the storage life of commercially frozen food, follow
instructions printed on the packing.
•While consuming frozen food, follow the principle "first in, first out".

•When placing fresh food packets in the freezer, place them away from
previously stored food.
•If during freezing there is extra accumulation of frost due to any reason,
move the thermostat knob towards the minimum (0) position. On
attaining the desired temperature, move the knob back to the medium
position (4).
•Avoid opening the door frequently or leaving it open longer than
necessary.
ATTENTION
In case of power failure for a short period, do not open the door. For short
period, frozen food is not affected. In case of longer power failures, it is
recommended that you consume the food within 24 hours.
Food stored in the door inner liner has shorter storage life.
B. REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT
•The food stored in the refrigerator compartment can be refrigerated up to
a certain limit.
•To obtain best performance, do not store warm food or evaporating
liquids.
•Food should be arranged so as to ensure free circulation of air in the
compartment.
•The user is advised not to use paper, cardboard or plastic to cover the
shelves.
ARRANGEMENT OF FOOD
In order to get the best service from your refrigerator and to ensure perfect
storage of food, liquids etc., please follow the instructions given in the following
chart and diagrams:

HOW TO DEFROST THE REFRIGERATOR
A. SINGLE DOOR REFRIGERATOR
Defrosting is necessary for efficient operation of the refrigerator. It is a good rule
to defrost the refrigerator periodically before a maximum of 5 mm thickness of
frost appears on the evaporator? The refrigerators are equipped with a semi-
automatic defrosting thermostat with a push-button.
To defrost the refrigerator, follow the instructions given below:
1. Remove food and ice trays from the evaporator.
2. Wrap frozen food in newspaper sheets and keep it in a cold area because
temperature increase will reduce preservation time.
3. Place the container (provided with the refrigerator) directly under the outlet
hole of the water collector (left back side).
4. Push the button of the thermostat knob.
5 After defrosting is complete, empty the water container.
After defrosting, the push button will come out to its original position.
B. DOUBLE DOOR REFRIGERATOR
If water is properly drained out of the food to be frozen, there is little possibility of
accumulation of frost in the freezing compartment. Hence, complete defrosting of
the compartment may be necessary only six or seven times a year. When a
layer of frost on the walls of the freezer compartment reaches a thickness of
about 5mm, complete defrosting may be carried out as per instructions given
below:
1. Remove frozen food, wrap it up in several newspaper sheets and store in a
cold place.
2. Turn the thermostat knob to the (0) position and remove the plug from the
socket.
3. Wait till the frost melts.
4. Remove the cap of the drain plug to drain out the defrosted water.

5. The defrosting water will flow through the freezer drain system and collect in
the drain tray provided at the bottom of refrigerator.
6. Before removing the drain tray from its position, put the cap on the drain plug,
remove the tray and empty it.
7. Re-insert the tray in the tray carrier, repeat steps 4-6, till the freezer is free of
frost.
8. Finally insert the drain tray back in the drain carrier and put the cap on the
drain plug.
IMPORTANT
Do not attempt to remove frost from walls with sharp metal tools.
The frost in the refrigerator compartment is automatically eliminated from the
evaporator every time the compressor stops. The defrosted water drains out
through a trough into a container installed on top of the compressor, where it
evaporates.
SWITCHING OFF THE REFRIGERATOR FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD
If you wish to switch off the refrigerator for a longer period, turn the thermostat
knob to the position (0) and remove all food from the refrigerator. Then, totally
defrost and thoroughly clean the inside.
The user is reminded to leave the refrigerator doors open when it is not in use,
so as to allow air to circulate freely and to avoid unpleasant odours.
USE AND MAINTENANCE
As suggested previously, it is essential that warm food should not be placed in
the refrigerator because it will raise the inside temperature and thus affect the
already stored food.
Avoid placing too much food in the refrigerator, which would prevent free
circulation of air. Keep all strong smelling food i.e. onion, garlic, melon, guava
etc., in properly closed glass or plastic containers and never store liquids in
uncovered containers.
The refrigerator does not require any special maintenance. It is however
advisable to clean its inner side and outer side periodically.
To clean the outside of the refrigerator, always use a slightly damp soft cloth.

DO NOT USE DETERGENTS, ABRASIVES OR SOLVENTS.
For inside cleaning use a solution of 9 parts water and 1 part white vinegar,
rinsing thoroughly with a sponge and fresh water.
Clean the condenser on the back of the refrigerator with a brush or vacuum
cleaner; this will improve the performance of the refrigerator.
After 2 to 3 months, clean the defrost water tray mounted on top of the
compressor and drain tray. Also check the drain-opening which is inside the
refrigerator under the evaporator plate.
