Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Pentagram Virtuoso P 2005 tablet, a graphics add-on for your
PC. Virtuoso gives you the freedom to do much more than by using a mouse. Originally, the
tablet was designed for professional graphics artists and CAD/CAM designers, but the
affordable and powerful Pentagram products are also ideal for consumer use.

1. Slide the Storage Switch toward green dot to open Pen Nib Storage.
2. Pick new pen nib from Pen Nib Storage.
3. Slide the switch toward red dot to close the Pen Nib Storage.
4. Insert the old nib to Pen Nib Exchanger, hold tight and pull the pen out of the pen nib
exchanger.
5. After pulling the pen out of the exchanger, the old pen nib stayed in Pen Nib Exchanger.
6. Insert a new pen nib into the pen.
If pen doesn’t work correctly after pen nib exchange, remove pen nib and insert it once again.

Setting up the tablet
Installing the tablet
1. Do not connect the tablet to the PC.
2. Launch Windows and then place the software CD in the CD-ROM drive.
3. The setup wizard will be launched automatically (In Windows Vista if prompted, click
Run: Autorun.exe) . If the CD-ROM autorun feature is disabled, run Autorun.exe in the
CD’s root directory.
4. Click Install Driver. In Windows Vista, a User Account Control prompt will appear. Click
Continue (If installation is performed by user without administrative priviledges, entering
username and password of administrator account may be required) to begin installation.
5. Select your language and click Next.
6. When the next setup wizard window appears, click Next.
7. Accept the terms and conditions of the license agreement by clicking Yes.
8. The driver will now be installed. When prompted to restart the computer, select Yes, I
want to restart my computer now and click OK.
9. After the system restarts, connect the tablet to the PC by plugging the USB cable into an
appropriate port on the PC.
10. The device will be detected, and driver software will be installed automatically. The tablet
icon will appear in the system tray on the taskbar to indicate that the device is present in
the system. The tablet is now ready to use.
Connecting the tablet to the PC and power supply
The tablet can be connected to an available USB port, and does not require additional power
supply in order to operate correctly. When attached to an USB port, the unit draws power
directly from the PC, and the pen recharges automatically while working with the tablet.

Configuring the tablet and pen
Note: The tablet menu configuration described below applies to Windows 2000/XP/Vista. The
actual menus may be different in other operating systems.
Pen
•While drawing, the pen must be kept 7 mm (0.3 in) or less from the tablet surface.
•To use the tablet efficiently, hold the pen so that you have easy access to button located
on it.
•One slight touch of the pen on the tablet has the same effect as a single left-click of the
mouse.
•Two immediate clicks on the tablet has the same effect as a double left-click of the
mouse.
Tablet
To access the tablet configuration menu, double-click the Windows Control Panel icon, or
right-click the system tray icon and then left-click Options.
The tablet menu will appear, with the following buttons at the bottom of the window:
Save: Click to exit the menu and save your changes.
Cancel: Click to exit the menu without saving your changes.
Show the option icon on the taskbar: Select this box to make the tablet menu icon appear
on the taskbar.
Disable right key: Select this box to disable pen button.
Disable pressure: Select this box to disable pen pressure.
Pen Setting menu
Nib Pressure Sensitivity: Use this slider to adjust the rate of pen pressure changes between
0 (Soft) and 200 (Firm). By decreasing the value, you can increase line width more quickly.
The pressure-to-width ratio is shown in the Profile graph. The optimum value to ensure
smooth transition between line widths is 100.

Clear: Click to clear the contents of the Try Here box.

Default: Click to restore factory defaults.
Double-click speed: Use this slider to set the double-click speed for pen button. Available
values range from 0 (Slow) to 900 (Fast). The higher the value, the shorter the interval
between the first and second click must be for the function to work. Use the folder icon next to
the slider to test the setting by opening it and closing it alternately.

Mapping menu
The tools available in this menu can be used to set the size of the tablet’s active area and
screen coverage. Tablet and display thumbnails are provided to make it easier for the user to
adjust these settings, with both areas shown using solid blue lines.
Select Monitor: Select this option if you want the tablet to cover the entire screen area of the
display.
Part of Monitor: Select this option to adjust the space on the display to be covered by the
tablet. When you select this option, a crosshair will appear. Use the crosshair to set a diagonal
on the basis of which the appropriate area will be determined. Left-click to set the beginning of
the diagonal, and then click again to set the end point. The software will define the desired
area automatically.
Manual Setting: Use this option to draw the active area using the pen on the tablet thumbnail.
Auto Setting: Use this option to set the active area size automatically with whole active area
of the tablet. This option is only available if Select Monitor is enabled.
All Tablet: Use this option to set the working area to the entire tablet automatically. This
option is only available if Select Monitor is enabled.
Key Setting menu
Use this menu to define the operation of touch buttons and touch scrollbar on the left hand
side of the tablet. The first button is preset as Rubber. When you configure the key function,
there are two ways to define it. One is choosing the options from the drop-down menu for each
key and another way is defined by pressing the keyboard of your computer.
•Alt – Alt key emulation.
•Middle Key – Middle mouse button emulation.
•Left Key – Left mouse button emulation.
•Right Key – Right mouse button emulation.
•Launch Application (select any application to be launched after the button is tapped)
•Disable – Disable this key.

Wichtige Hinweise
•Die Elektronenröhren der CRT Monitore erzeugen sehr starkes elektromagnetisches
Feld, das den Übertragungsweg des Stifts und des Tabletts beeinträchtigen kann.
Deshalb ist das Grafiktablett nicht zu nahe am Monitor zu benutzen.
•Das Grafiktablett nicht auf metallischen Oberflächen wie Edelstahl oder Aluminium legen.

Einleitung
Wir bedanken uns für den Erwerb des Grafiktabletts Pentagram Virtuoso P 2005, eines
grafischen Eingabegerätes für Ihren Computer. Nun können Sie mit dem Tablett Virtuoso viel
mehr leisten, als zuvor mit einer Maus. Das Tablett wurde als ein Werkzeug für Grafiker zum
CAD/CAM-Einsatz entwickelt. Die Tabletts von Pentagram eignen sich durch ihren
erschwinglichen Preis und hohe Funktionalität auch zum Heimeinsatz.

Auswechseln der Spitze
1. Das Fach mit Spitzen durch Verschieben der Riegel in Richtung des grünen Punktes
öffnen.
2. Aus dem Fach eine Spitze entnehmen.
3. Das Fach durch Verschieben der Riegel in Richtung des roten Punktes schließen.
4. Die abgenutzte Spitze in die Vorrichtung zum Herausnehmen der Spitzen einlegen, den
Stifthalter kräftig halten und dabei den Stift ziehen.
5. Haben Sie Anweisungen aus vorstehendem Absatz genau befolgt, bleibt die abgenutzte
Spitze im Stifthalter stecken. Die abgenutzte Spitze entnehmen und wegwerfen.
6. Nachdem die abgenutzte Spitze herausgenommen worden ist, setzen Sie an ihre Stelle
eine neue Spitze ein und drücken Sie sie gründlich hinein.
Verhält sich die Spitze nach dem Wechsel seltsam, Spitze entnehmen und erneut einsetzen.

Vorbereitung des Tabletts zum Betrieb
Installation des Tabletts
1. Tablett an den PC nicht anschließen.
2. Nach dem Hochfahren von Windows CD mit Software in das CD-ROM-Laufwerk
einlegen.
3. Der Installationsassistent startet automatisch (unter Windows Vista kann zusätzlich das
Anklicken Ausführen: Autorun.exe im Autoplay Fenster erforderlich sein). Ist die
Autoplay-Funktion für das CD-ROM Laufwerk deaktiviert, soll die Datei Autorun.exe aus
dem Hauptverzeichnis der CD ausgeführt werden.
4. Install Drivers anklicken. Bei Windows Vista kann das Fenster der
Benutzerkontensteuerung erscheinen; um die Installation anzufangen, Fortfahren
anklicken (falls die Installation auf dem Konto eines Benutzers ohne Administratorrechte
erfolgt, kann zusätzlich die Eingabe des Benutzernamens und des Passwortes für ein
Benutzerkonto mit Administratorrechten angefordert werden).
5. Sprache wählen und auf Next > (Weiter >) klicken.
6. Erscheint ein weiteres Fenster des Installationsassistenten, auf Next > (Weiter >) klicken.
7. Machen Sie sich mit dem Lizenzvertrag vertraut und klicken Sie auf Yes (Ja), um diesem
zuzustimmen.
8. Die Treiber werden installiert. Danach erscheint eine Aufforderung zum Neustart des
Computers. Wird es notwendig, den Computer erneut hochzufahren, Yes, I want to
restart my computer now wählen. (Ja, ich will den PC jetzt erneut starten), um den
PC nach dem Installationsabschluss erneut hochzufahren bzw. No, I will restart my
computer later. (Nein, ich starte den PC erneut später), um den PC nachträglich
erneut hochzufahren. Das Tablett kann nicht richtig arbeiten, solange der Computer nicht
erneut hochgefahren worden ist.
9. Nach dem Neustart schließen Sie das Tablett an den PC an, indem Sie das USB-Kabel in
eine entsprechende Buchse am PC einstecken.
10. Das Gerät wird erkannt und der Treiber automatisch installiert. Auf der Taskleiste
erscheint ein Tablettsymbol, wodurch angezeigt wird, dass das Gerät im System
verfügbar ist. Nunmehr ist das Tablett betriebsbereit.

Tablett an den PC anschließen und Stromversorgung
herstellen
Das Grafiktablett wird an einen unbelegten USB-Port angeschlossen. Zum störungsfreien
Betrieb des Tabletts wird eine zusätzliche Stromversorgung nicht benötigt. Das an den USB-
Port angeschlossene Tablett wird unmittelbar aus dem Port mit Strom versorgt. Der Stift wird
beim Betrieb des Tabletts automatisch aufgeladen.
Tablett- und Stiftkonfiguration
Achtung! Die nachstehend beschriebene Konfiguration trifft für die Betriebssystemversionen
20000/XP/Vista zu. Bei anderen Betriebssystemen kann sie anders verlaufen.
Stift
•Das Malen mit dem Stift ist bei einem maximalen Abstand von nicht mehr als 7 mm vom
Tablett möglich.
•Um das Tablett erfolgreich einzusetzen, ist der Stift so zu halten, dass auf die Taste am
Stift ungehinderter Zugriff gewährleistet ist.
•Ein einfaches Andrücken der Tablettoberfläche mit der Stiftspitze bewirkt die gleiche
Aktion wie ein einfacher Klick mit der linken Maustaste.
•Ein schnelles zweifaches Andrücken der Tablettoberfläche mit der Stiftspitze bewirkt die
gleiche Aktion wie ein Doppelklick mit der linken Maustaste.
Tablett
Der Zugriff auf die Konfiguration des Tabletts ist über ein Symbol in der Systemsteuerung von
Windows (darauf doppelklicken) oder über ein Symbol in der Taskleiste (mit der rechten
Maustaste auf das Symbol, danach mit der linken Taste auf Options klicken) möglich.
Das Menü des Tabletts erscheint, im unteren Fensterbereich befinden sich Schaltflächen:
Save – Menü verlassen und Änderungen speichern.
Cancel – Menü verlassen ohne Änderungen zu speichern.
Show the option icon on the taskbar – Markierung setzen, um das Tablettsymbol in der
Taskleiste erscheinen zu lassen.
Disable right key – Markierung setzen, um die Stifttaste zu deaktivieren.
Disable pressure – Markierung setzen, um die Erkennung der Druckstufen zu deaktivieren.

Pen Setting Menü
Nib Pressure Sensitivity – die Dynamik der Anpressveränderung von 0 (Soft) bis 200 (Firm).
Je niedriger der Wert ist, desto schneller erfolgt der Übergang zum dickeren Strich. Das ist auf
dem Diagramm Profile wiedergegeben, wo der Kurvenverlauf die Dynamik des Anstiegs
darstellt. Der optimale Wert, bei dem ein glatter Übergang zwischen den Strichstärken
gewährleistet ist, beträgt 100.
Try Here – Fenster zum Ausprobieren der Einstellungen.
Clear – Inhalt des Try Here Fensters entfernen.
Default – auf Werkseinstellungen zurücksetzen.
Double-click speed – Geschwindigkeit des Stiftdoppelklicks. Werteinstellung ab 0 (Slow) bis
900 (Fast). Je höher der Wert ist, desto kürzer muss die Zeitspanne zwischen dem ersten und
dem zweiten Klick sein, damit ein Doppelklick erkannt wird. Diese Einstellung kann am
daneben liegenden Verzeichnissymbol überprüft werden, indem das Verzeichnis abwechselnd
geöffnet und geschlossen wird.
Mapping Menü
Mit den Tools aus diesem Menü werden die Größe der aktiven Arbeitsfläche des Tabletts und
der Bereich auf dem Bildschirm eingestellt. Um Einstellung der Bereiche zu erleichtern, sind
Kleinbilder des Tabletts und des Bildschirms mit beiden mittels blauen kontinuierlichen Linien
markierten Bereichen angezeigt.
Select Monitor – aktivieren, damit das Tablett den ganzen Bildschirm erfasst.
Part of Monitor – aktivieren, um einen Bereich auf dem Bildschirm anzugeben, der vom
Tablett erfasst werden soll. Nach der Aktivierung dieser Funktion erscheint ein Visier. Mit dem
Visier soll eine Diagonale festgelegt werden, auf deren Grundlage ein entsprechender Bereich
bestimmt wird. Der erste Klick mit der linken Maustaste bestimmt den Anfang der Diagonale,
der nächste ihr Ende. Das Programm definiert automatisch den erwünschten Bereich.
Manual Setting – mit dem Stift auf dem Kleinbild des Tabletts die aktive Arbeitsfläche
festlegen.
Auto Setting – automatische Festlegung der aktiven Arbeitsfläche. Die Einstellung ist bei
aktiver Funktion Select Monitor wirksam.
All Tablet – automatische Festlegung der Arbeitsfläche auf dem ganzen Tablett. Die
Einstellung ist bei aktiver Funktion Select Monitor wirksam.

Key Setting Menü
Mittels dieses Menüs kann die Funktion der Touchtasten und des Touchscrolls an der linken
Seite des Tabletts definiert werden. Der ersten Taste wurde eine feste Funktion Rubber
(Radiergummi) zugeordnet. Den übrigen Touchflächen können eine Taste bzw.
Tastenkombination zugeordnet werden (es reicht, eine Touchfläche zu wählen und die
gewünschte Taste bzw. Tastenkombination zu drücken). Sie können auch eine der
vordefinierten Funktionen wählen:
•Alt – Nachbildung der Alt-Taste.
•Middle Key – Nachbildung der mittleren Maustaste.
•Left Key – Nachbildung der linken Maustaste.
•Right Key – Nachbildung der rechten Maustaste.
•Lunch Application – Anwendung wählen, die nach Berührung der Taste gestartet wird.
•Disable – Taste deaktivieren.
•Keypad Setting

Disable scroll – Markierung dieser Option macht das Touchscroll inaktiv.
Achtung! Die zugeordneten Funktionen können bei einigen Anwendungen fehlerhaft
funktionieren.

Важные замечания
•Электронно-лучевые трубки мониторов образуют очень сильное электромагнитное
