WARRANTY
PEQLAB guarantees that the system you have received has been thoroughly tested and
meets its published specification.
However, immediately upon arrival, please check carefully that the shipment is complete
and has not been damaged in transit. For missing parts or to report any kind of damage,
please contact PEQLAB (see 'TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND ORDERING INFORMATION').
Please retain all packaging materials until the delivery has been completely checked since
this will speed up the return of goods if required and reduce environmental impact. Any
form of returns, replacements or credit notes must be agreed in advance by PEQLAB.
For the Thriller®Thermoshaker Incubator and the thermoblocks PEQLAB guarantees a
warranty period of 24 months if the products have been used solely according to the
instruction manual and if not agreed differently. No liability is accepted for loss or
damage arising from incorrect use. PEQLAB's liability is limited to the repair or
replacement of the unit or refund of the purchase price, at PEQLAB's discretion. PEQLAB
is not liable for any consequential damages.
PEQLAB reserves the right to alter the technical specifications without prior notice. This
will enable us to implement developments as soon as they arise.

INSTALLATION
The Thriller®should be placed on a firm support plate. Sufficient ventilation must be
ensured for perfect functional operation of the Thriller®. For this reason, the Thriller®
should always have a few centimeters of space between the unit and neighboring
instruments or the wall.
Remove the packaging and place the Thriller®on a firm support plate. Remove the
packaging of the block. The block can be fitted to the Thriller®in one direction only. The
orientation is defined by the measuring probe stylus.
Place the block on the Thriller®in the correct orientation and use the hex driver enclosed
to tighten the hexagon head cap screws.
Use the main cable supplied to connect the Thriller®to the main supply. The connector
and the main switch are located on the rear side of the Thriller®.

Programs The Thriller®has a direct operation program P0. The parameters
will be saved automatically after input. If the setpoint temperature is
changed, the instrument will start heating or cooling immediately
without having to start the program. If time or mixing functions are
to be considered, the program must be activated by pressing the
Start/Stop button.
Another nine program sites (P1 to P9) with nine sub-steps each (S1
to S9) are available to save programs. The Start/Stop button must
be pressed whenever a program is to be activated. Changes are
saved by pressing the Save button; they are not saved
automatically.
The Thriller®could be programmed “infinite”, when total time is set
to the maximum. The maximum set point is 99h 59min, after this
you can choose “inf” for infinite.

Switch on the Thriller®at the rear side of the instrument, the display will show the values
of the direct operation program P0 set last.

Direct operation program P0
After the instrument has been switched on the cursor will start flashing at the setpoint
temperature.
Use the + or – button to set the requested temperature. The Thriller®will start the
heating or cooling process automatically.
Use the key to skip to the total time. Use the + or – button to set the total time. The
Thriller®could be programmed “infinite”, when total time is set to the maximum. The
maximum set point is 99h 59min, after this you can choose “inf” for infinite.
Use the key to skip to the mixing intensity. Use the + or – button to set the mixing
intensity.
Use the key to skip to the mixing time. Use the interval function to enter a
continuous change of mixing activity and mixing break. If no interval is required, set
these parameters to OFF. If an interval function is required, use the + or – button to set
the time of the mixing activity. Use the button to skip to the mixing break, and then
use the + or – button to set the time of the break. If the mixing time has been set to
OFF, the mixing intensity set is used for continuous mixing.

Programs P1 to P9
Press the Prog button to skip to the programs saved or use one of the arrow keys to
move the cursor to the program number.
Use the + or – button to select the requested program. Always start at program step
S1. Later program steps will be taken into consideration only, if the previous step
contains a programmed time. Not equal to zero or infinite. Subsequently the next
program step will be started automatically.
Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the setpoint temperature.
Use the + or – button to set the requested temperature.

Use the key to skip to the mixing time. Use the interval function to enter a

the duration of the mixing activity.
Use the button to skip to the mixing break, and then use the + or – button to set the
duration of the break. If the mixing time has been set to OFF, the mixing intensity set is
used for continuous mixing.
Save any program changes by pressing the Save button.
Start the program by pressing the Start/Stop button.
In case of programs with several steps, move the cursor to the step number, and use the +
button to skip to S2. Enter parameters as described above. The program ends at the last
program step at which the total time has been set.
Use thermostat without mixing activities
Set the temperature and the total time; set the mixing intensity to 0. Start the program. The
Thriller®will temperature until the time has run down. A signal is sounded as soon as the
time has run down.

Set the temperature, the total time and the mixing intensity. Start the program. The
Thriller®will temperature and mix until the time has run down. A signal is sounded as
soon as the time has run down.

Mixing without incubating facility
Set the temperature to OFF. The Thriller®will cool down or heat up until the block has
reached 25 °C. Subsequently the block will adopt the ambient temperature.
Set the total time and the mixing intensity and start the program. A signal is sounded as
soon as the time has run down.
Mixing at intervals
Set the setpoint temperature or set the temperature to OFF. Set the total time and the
mixing intensity. Set the requested mixing activity (e.g. 0:10m = 10 seconds).
Subsequently set the time of the mixing break (e.g. 0:05m = 5 seconds). Start the
program. The Thriller®will start operating at a change of mixing activity (0:10m) and
mixing break (0:05m) in succession. After the total time has run down, the program will
stop.
Short mix
The Thriller®mixes at the intensity shown in the display as long as the button is pressed.
Storing parameters
Changes in the programs P1 to P9 are saved by pressing the Save button. If a program is
quit without saving, the query will appear whether the changes shall be saved ('save
changes?'). The changes are saved by pressing the + button, whereas pressing the –
button will cause the program to quit without saving.
Changes in the direct operation program P0 will be saved automatically.

CLEANING, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
Please make sure to disconnect the instrument from the main power if cleaning is desired.
We recommend the use of a mild soap solution to clean the housing. If sample liquid has
run into the boreholes of the blocks, they should be cleaned with a mild soap solution
immediately and rinsed with distilled water. Mild alcohol-containing disinfectants may be
used for decontamination. Maintenance of the Thriller®is not required.
In case a repair gets necessary the device must be sent to the manufacturer. The surface
of the device should be decontaminated with a lint free cloth soaked with 70 % ethanol
before sending. The drill holes of the thermoblock shall be cleaned with a 1.5 %
hypochlorite solution with the help of a cotton bud. Please fill in and sign the
decontamination certificate and send it to the manufacturer together with the device.
