Connect the base station
Connect each end of the power 1
adapter to:
the DC input jack at the bottom of•
the base station;
the power socket on the wall.•
Connect each end of the power

adapter to (for multi-handset packs):
the DC input jack at the bottom of•
the extra handset charger.

Connect each end of the line cord to:

the telephone socket at the bottom•
of the base station;

2Install
Install the handset
1The batteries are pre-installed in the handset. Pull the battery tape off from the
battery door before charging.
2Place the handset on the base station to power up.
Note:
Charge the batteries for 16 hours before rst use.
For more information on the battery icon status, see the User Manual.
Check the battery level
When the handset is off the base station/
charger, the icon indicates the battery
level:
Full (steady on)
Medium (ashing)
Low (empty)
When you see the empty battery icon and
hear an alert tone from the handset, the
battery level is low and needs recharging.
When the handset is on the base
station/charger, the battery icon keeps
ashing until charging completes.
When the charging completes, the
battery icon keeps steady on.

3Enjoy
Make a call
1Press and dial the phone number; or
2Dial the phone number and press to dial out the call.
Congure your phone (if necessary)
1When you see the welcome message, press [OK],select your country, press
[SELECT] to conrm.
The country setting is saved.

2Set the date and time.
The phone is now ready to use.

Answer a call
When the phone rings, press or to answer the call.
End a call
Press .
Adjust the earpiece volume
Press or to adjust the volume during a call.
The adjusted volume level is shown on the screen.

Set the handset’s ringtone
1Press menu.
2Select [PERSONAL SET] > [HANDSET TONES] > [RING TONES],
then press [SELECT] to conrm.
3Select a ringtone, then press [SELECT] to conrm.
The setting is saved.

Add a record
1Press menu.
2Select [PHONEBOOK] > [NEW ENTRY], then press [SELECT] to con-
rm.
3Enter the name then press [OK] to conrm.
4Enter the number, then press [SAVE] to conrm.

View the phonebook
1Press .
2Select a contact and view the available information.
Call from the phonebook
1Press to access the phonebook.
2Select a contact in the phonebook list.
3Press to make the call.
ECO mode
The ECO mode reduces the transmission power of the handset and base station.
1Press menu.
2Select [ADVANCED SET] > [ECO], then press [SELECT] to conrm.
3Select the new setting, then press [OK] to conrm.
The setting is saved.

»is displayed instead of in standby mode
Note
When the• ECO mode is activated, the connection range between the handset
and the base station can be reduced.
Listen to messages recorded on the answering machine
(for CD565 only)
Switch on/off the answering machine: Press• .
Start/Stop listening to the recorded messages: Press• 29 .
Adjust the volume: Press• + / –.
Skip backward:•
When you listen to the messages, press ¡ to listen to the message from the
beginning.
During the rst second of the current message, press ¡to listen to the previous
message.
Skip forward: Press• ™to skip to the next message.
Delete the current message: Press• X.

No dialing tone
Check your phone connections.•
The handset is out of range. Move it closer to the base station.
The signal icon ashes.
The handset is out of range. Move it closer to the base station.•
If the handset displays [UNREGISTERED], register the handset.
The caller ID does not display.
The service is not activated. Check with your service provider.•
The caller’s information is withheld or unavailable.
