Charge theTrimmer fully before you start using it
for the first time or after a long period of disuse.
Charge Indications
Low Battery
◗When the battery capacity is low and the
trimmer needs to be charged,the red low
battery indicator light will blink when the
trimmer is turned off (fig.2).
◗When the battery is completely empty,neither
the motor or the lights will go on.In this case
you can still trim using the cord provided.
Charging
◗When you start charging,the green charging
indicator light burns continuously (fig.3).
◗When the battery is fully charged,the green
charging indicator light blinks (fig.4).
To Charge / Recharge
◗(Re)charging requires approximately
70 minutes.
◗Use only the cord provided.
◗Battery performance is best if you recharge
only when the battery is (almost) completely
empty.
◗Charging or recharging at temperatures below
40ºF or higher than 95ºF adversely affects
lifetime of battery.
◗Continuously recharging or continuously using
as a cordedTrimmer will reduce life of battery.
◗You may also trim using the cord provided.This
Trimmer will not recharge while being used
corded.

2Connect cord toTrimmer.Plug into any 120V
AC outlet only. Use only the cord provided.
◗An adaptor plug may be necessary for cord
usage in some foreign countries.Use an
attachment plug adaptor of the proper
configuration for power outlet.
Do not chargeTrimmer in a pouch or for more
than 24 hours.
◗It requires approximately 70 minutes to fully
charge the battery, if the battery capacity is
completely empty. If there is still battery
capacity available,fully charging the battery will
take less time.
◗A fully chargedTrimmer has a cordless
trimming time of up to 45 minutes under
normal operation.Turbo Power operation has a
cordless trimming time of up to 30 minutes.
3Disconnect the cord and unplug from
electrical outlet,unless you are using the
Trimmer corded.
OptimizeTheWorking Life Of
The Battery
◗AfterTrimmer has been charged for the first
time,do not rechargeTrimmer between
trimming sessions.Continue using it until the
battery is completely empty.
◗Discharge the battery completely twice a year
by letting the motor run until it stops.
◗Do not charge for more than 24 hours.
◗Do not keep cord permanently plugged in.
◗IfTrimmer hasn't been used for a long period
of time,Trimmer must be recharged for
approximately 70 minutes.
Turbo Power
◗When greater suction power and increased
cutting speed is desired when trimming,simply
press theTurbo Power Button (fig. 5).
◗TheTurbo Power Button can only be activated
when the trimmer is turned ON.
◗When the trimmer is turned OFF,theTurbo
Power is automatically deactivated.
CordedTrimming
1Connect cord provided toTrimmer.
2PlugTrimmer into electrical outlet.
3If battery is completely empty,wait a few

AccuControl System
The patented AccuControl System with Integrated

needed.The flexing Guide Comb adjusts

IntegratedVacuum
The IntegratedVacuum is activated automatically as
soon as you switch the trimmer on. It collects cut
hairs during every kind of use, i.e. trimming with or
without comb attachment and contouring.The
flexible hair guide follows the contours of the face
and the Flexi-Guard Hair Deflector directs cut hairs
towards the nozzle of the vacuum mechanism.
It is recommended that you empty the Hair
Collection Chamber after each trimming session.
When trimming long, dense beards it may also be
necessary to empty the Hair Collection Chamber
during the trimming session in order to maintain
optimal suction performance (also see 'Cleaning'
section, 'Hair Collection Chamber').
◗To ensure optimal functioning of theVacuum
Trimmer,do not cut off more than approx.7mm
of your overall beard length at a time.If you
want to cut your beard shorter,repeat the
process one or more times.
Trimming
◗Use thisTrimmer for its intended household
use as described in this manual.
◗Always comb your beard and/or moustache
with a fine comb before you start trimming.
◗If you are trimming for the first time, be
careful.Do not move theTrimmer too fast.
Make smooth and gentle movements.
TrimmingWith AccuControl
Guide Comb Attachment
◗Guide CombAttachment must be onTrimmer
in order to use the Zoom Lock.
1Turn the Zoom Lock to the desired trimming
length setting (see table).The setting will
appear in the window below the Zoom Lock
(fig.7).
◗If you are trimming for the first time, start by
using the maximum trimming length setting #9
to prevent accidentally trimming hairs too
short.As you become familiar with the settings,
adjust Zoom Lock to desired trimming length.
Zoom Lock will 'click' into position at each
setting.
2Turn theTrimmer ON.
3To trim in the most effective way, move the
Trimmer against the direction of hair growth.
Do not move the trimmer too fast.Make
smooth and gentle movements and make
sure the surface of the Guide Comb always
stays in contact with the skin (fig. 8).
Trimming Length SettingsTable
NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same
direction, you may want to try different trimming
positions (i.e., upwards, downwards, or across).
Practice is best for optimum results.
Trimming For 'Stubble' Look
1Be certain Guide Comb is onTrimmer and
usesetting #1 to result in a 'stubble' look.

Attachment
Remove Guide Comb Attachment if you are:
◗Defining hair lines
◗Trimming nape of neck
◗Removing single, unwanted hairs
1Be certainTrimmer is in the OFF position.
2Remove the Guide CombAttachment by
pulling it off theTrimmer (fig. 10).
Never pull off the Guide Comb Attachment by
grasping the flexible top portion.Always pull off by
the bottom part of attachment.
3Turn theTrimmer ON.
4Make well-controlled movements.Touch the
hair lightly with theTrimmer.
ShapingWith Precision Mini-Trimmer
◗For use with moustache,to contour single
hairs and sideburns.
1Remove the GuideCombAttachment(fig.10).
Never pull off the Guide Comb Attachment by
grasping the flexible top portion.Always pull off by
the bottom part of attachment.
2Remove the cutting unit (fig.11).
3Attach the Precision Mini-Trimmer (fig.12).
Precision Mini-Trimmer is also suitable for outlining
the edges of the beard,on the neck and on the
cheeks.
4HoldTrimmer in a vertical position and make
small,careful strokes (fig.13).
5TurnTrimmer OFF.
6When you have finished using the Precision
Mini-Trimmer,you may remove it and replace
the cutting unit.You can now put the Guide
CombAttachment back on theTrimmer.
Replacing Guide Comb Attachment
OnTrimmer
1Be certainTrimmer is in OFF position.
2Replace Guide CombAttachment until it
'clicks' into position.The Guide Comb
Attachment can be placed onTrimmer only
one way by properly aligning it to slide into
the tracks on sides ofTrimmer head. If it
does not fit properly,reverse it.
NOTE:The Zoom Lock can be on any setting
when removing or replacing Attachment.
Cleaning
◗Always turnTrimmer OFF before cleaning.
◗Do not use abrasive, scourers or liquids such
as alcohol,benzene, bleach or acetone to clean
theTrimmer.
◗Never clean,remove or replace Guide Comb
Attachment with motor ON.
◗Do not apply pressure to cutters.
◗Do not touch cutters with hard objects as this
may damage them.
◗Do not use while bathing,showering or
immerse theTrimmer in water or other liquids
as damage toTrimmer may occur.
◗Never use sharp or hard objects to clean the
filter to avoid damaging it.
◗If cut hairs have accumulated in the Guide
Comb area,turnTrimmer off, pull Guide Comb
Attachment offTrimmer and remove hairs by
shaking and/or blowing.
Hair Collection Chamber
1Turn theTrimmer OFF.
2Remove the ClearView Hair Collection
chamber and filter (fig.14).
3Remove the hairs by carefully shaking them
out or by brushing them out with the
cleaning brush supplied (fig.15).
◗When trimming extremely long,dense beards,
it may be necessary to empty the Hair
Collection Chamber during the trimming
session in order to maintain optimal suction
performance.
◗If suction performance is not as strong as usual,
Hair Collection Chamber may require
emptying to restore optimal performance.
◗It is recommended that the Hair Collection
Chamber be emptied and cleaned out after
each use.
◗Do not operate theTrimmer with the Hair
Collection Chamber removed.
Trimmer
1Make sure theTrimmer is turned OFF and
disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2Remove the Guide CombAttachment.
3Remove the cutting unit (fig.11).
4Clean the cutting unit and the inside of the
Trimmer with the brush supplied (fig.16).
5Re-attach the cutting unit and the Guide
Comb into place on theTrimmer (fig. 17).
ReplacingThe Cutting Unit
If your cutters and filter become damaged or
worn, do not continue using theTrimmer.Replace
cutters and/or filter immediately.
ThisTrimmer has no other user-serviceable parts.
Any other service should be performed by the
Philips Norelco Service Location.

Storage
◗Be sureTrimmer is turned off and remove cord
from outlet andTrimmer before storing in a
safe, dry location where it will not be crushed,

be cut or damaged.
◗Do not place or storeTrimmer where it can
fall or be pulled into a tub or sink,water or
other liquid.
Battery Removal
◗This Philips NorelcoTrimmer contains
rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium batteries,which
must be disposed of properly (fig.18).
◗Batteries should only be removed when
Trimmer is to be discarded.
◗All servicing or battery replacement should be
performed by the Philips Norelco Service
Location.

1Unplug electrical cord from outlet and
Trimmer before dismantlingTrimmer.
2Allow theTrimmer to run until the battery is
empty/depleted.
3TurnTrimmer OFF.
4Remove the 2 side panels with a screwdriver
(fig.19).
Note:You may use a narrow flat blade screwdriver.
5Remove the front panel with a screwdriver
(fig.20).
6Pull out the printed circuit board (fig.21).
7Remove the rechargeable battery using a
screwdriver and detach it by bending
or turning it several times until the
connections break (fig.22).
8Do not attempt to replace battery. Insulate
battery ends by covering with tape and/or
place battery in a small plastic bag.
9Discard yourTrimmer.Do not attempt to
plug electrical cord into the outlet or
recharge theTrimmer after the battery has
been removed.

3To trim in the most effective way, move the
Trimmer against the direction of hair growth.
Do not move the trimmer too fast. Make
smooth and gentle movements and make
sure the surface of the Guide Comb always
stays in contact with the skin (fig. 8).
Trimming Length SettingsTable
NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same
direction, you may want to try different trimming
positions (i.e., upwards, downwards, or across).
Practice is best for optimum results.

Charging
Charge theTrimmer fully before you start using it
for the first time or after a long period of disuse.
Charge Indications
Low Battery
◗When the battery capacity is low and the
trimmer needs to be charged,the red low
battery indicator light will blink when the
trimmer is turned off (fig.2).
◗When the battery is completely empty, neither
the motor or the lights will go on.In this case
you can still trim using the cord provided.
Charging
◗When you start charging,the green charging
indicator light burns continuously (fig.3).
◗When the battery is fully charged, the green
charging indicator light blinks (fig.4).
To Charge / Recharge
◗(Re)charging requires approximately
70 minutes.
◗Use only the cord provided.
◗Battery performance is best if you recharge
only when the battery is (almost) completely
empty.
◗Charging or recharging at temperatures below
40ºF or higher than 95ºF adversely affects
lifetime of battery.
◗Continuously recharging or continuously using
as a cordedTrimmer will reduce life of battery.
◗You may also trim using the cord provided.This

Charging
Charge theTrimmer fully before you start using it
for the first time or after a long period of disuse.
Charge Indications
Low Battery
◗When the battery capacity is low and the
trimmer needs to be charged,the red low
battery indicator light will blink when the
trimmer is turned off (fig.2).
◗When the battery is completely empty, neither
the motor or the lights will go on.In this case
you can still trim using the cord provided.
Charging
◗When you start charging,the green charging
indicator light burns continuously (fig.3).
◗When the battery is fully charged, the green
charging indicator light blinks (fig.4).
To Charge / Recharge
◗(Re)charging requires approximately
70 minutes.
◗Use only the cord provided.
◗Battery performance is best if you recharge
only when the battery is (almost) completely
empty.
◗Charging or recharging at temperatures below
40ºF or higher than 95ºF adversely affects
lifetime of battery.
◗Continuously recharging or continuously using
as a cordedTrimmer will reduce life of battery.
◗You may also trim using the cord provided.This
Trimmer will not recharge while being used
corded.

◗Guide CombAttachment must be onTrimmer
in order to use the Zoom Lock.
1Turn the Zoom Lock to the desired trimming
length setting (see table).The setting will
appear in the window below the Zoom Lock
(fig.7).
◗If you are trimming for the first time,start by
using the maximum trimming length setting #9
to prevent accidentally trimming hairs too
short.As you become familiar with the settings,
adjust Zoom Lock to desired trimming length.
Zoom Lock will 'click' into position at each
setting.
2Turn theTrimmer ON.
3To trim in the most effective way, move the
Trimmer against the direction of hair growth.
Do not move the trimmer too fast.Make
smooth and gentle movements and make
sure the surface of the Guide Comb always
stays in contact with the skin (fig. 8).
Trimming Length SettingsTable
NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same
direction, you may want to try different trimming
positions (i.e., upwards, downwards, or across).
Practice is best for optimum results.

1Remove the GuideComb Attachment (fig.10).
Never pull off the Guide Comb Attachment by
grasping the flexible top portion.Always pull off by

2Remove the cutting unit (fig.11).
3Attach the Precision Mini-Trimmer (fig.12).
Precision Mini-Trimmer is also suitable for outlining
the edges of the beard,on the neck and on the

Mini-Trimmer, you may remove it and replace

Replacing Guide Comb Attachment
OnTrimmer
1Be certainTrimmer is in OFF position.
2Replace Guide CombAttachment until it
'clicks' into position.The Guide Comb
Attachment can be placed onTrimmer only
one way by properly aligning it to slide into
the tracks on sides ofTrimmer head. If it
does not fit properly, reverse it.
NOTE:The Zoom Lock can be on any setting
when removing or replacing Attachment.
Cleaning
◗Always turnTrimmer OFF before cleaning.
◗Do not use abrasive,scourers or liquids such
as alcohol,benzene, bleach or acetone to clean
theTrimmer.
◗Never clean,remove or replace Guide Comb
Attachment with motor ON.
◗Do not apply pressure to cutters.
◗Do not touch cutters with hard objects as this
may damage them.
◗Do not use while bathing,showering or
immerse theTrimmer in water or other liquids

chamber and filter (fig.14).
3Remove the hairs by carefully shaking them
out or by brushing them out with the

Charging
Charge theTrimmer fully before you start using it
for the first time or after a long period of disuse.
Charge Indications
Low Battery
◗When the battery capacity is low and the
trimmer needs to be charged,the red low
battery indicator light will blink when the
trimmer is turned off (fig.2).
◗When the battery is completely empty, neither
the motor or the lights will go on.In this case
you can still trim using the cord provided.
Charging
◗When you start charging,the green charging
indicator light burns continuously (fig.3).
◗When the battery is fully charged, the green
charging indicator light blinks (fig.4).
To Charge / Recharge
◗(Re)charging requires approximately
70 minutes.
◗Use only the cord provided.
◗Battery performance is best if you recharge
only when the battery is (almost) completely
empty.
◗Charging or recharging at temperatures below
40ºF or higher than 95ºF adversely affects
lifetime of battery.
◗Continuously recharging or continuously using
as a cordedTrimmer will reduce life of battery.
◗You may also trim using the cord provided.This
Trimmer will not recharge while being used

IntegratedVacuum

Trimming With AccuControl
Guide Comb Attachment
◗Guide CombAttachment must be onTrimmer
in order to use the Zoom Lock.
1Turn the Zoom Lock to the desired trimming
length setting (see table).The setting will
appear in the window below the Zoom Lock
(fig.7).
◗If you are trimming for the first time,start by
using the maximum trimming length setting #9
to prevent accidentally trimming hairs too
short.As you become familiar with the settings,
adjust Zoom Lock to desired trimming length.
Zoom Lock will 'click' into position at each
setting.
2Turn theTrimmer ON.
3To trim in the most effective way, move the
Trimmer against the direction of hair growth.
Do not move the trimmer too fast.Make
smooth and gentle movements and make
sure the surface of the Guide Comb always
stays in contact with the skin (fig. 8).
Trimming Length SettingsTable
NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same
direction, you may want to try different trimming
positions (i.e., upwards, downwards, or across).
Practice is best for optimum results.
Trimming For 'Stubble' Look
1Be certain Guide Comb is onTrimmer and
usesetting #1 to result in a 'stubble' look.

Remove Guide CombAttachment if you are:

1Be certainTrimmer is in the OFF position.
2Remove the Guide CombAttachment by
pulling it off theTrimmer (fig. 10).
Never pull off the Guide Comb Attachment by
grasping the flexible top portion.Always pull off by
the bottom part of attachment.
3Turn theTrimmer ON.
4Make well-controlled movements.Touch the
hair lightly with theTrimmer.
ShapingWith Precision Mini-Trimmer
◗For use with moustache,to contour single
hairs and sideburns.
1Remove the GuideComb Attachment (fig.10).
Never pull off the Guide Comb Attachment by
grasping the flexible top portion.Always pull off by
the bottom part of attachment.
2Remove the cutting unit (fig.11).
3Attach the Precision Mini-Trimmer (fig. 12).
Precision Mini-Trimmer is also suitable for outlining
the edges of the beard,on the neck and on the
cheeks.
4HoldTrimmer in a vertical position and make
small,careful strokes (fig.13).
5TurnTrimmer OFF.
6When you have finished using the Precision
Mini-Trimmer, you may remove it and replace
the cutting unit.You can now put the Guide
CombAttachment back on theTrimmer.
Replacing Guide Comb Attachment
OnTrimmer
1Be certainTrimmer is in OFF position.
2Replace Guide CombAttachment until it
'clicks' into position.The Guide Comb
Attachment can be placed onTrimmer only
one way by properly aligning it to slide into
the tracks on sides ofTrimmer head. If it
does not fit properly, reverse it.
NOTE:The Zoom Lock can be on any setting
when removing or replacing Attachment.
Cleaning
◗Always turnTrimmer OFF before cleaning.
◗Do not use abrasive,scourers or liquids such
as alcohol,benzene, bleach or acetone to clean
theTrimmer.
◗Never clean,remove or replace Guide Comb
Attachment with motor ON.
◗Do not apply pressure to cutters.
◗Do not touch cutters with hard objects as this
may damage them.
◗Do not use while bathing,showering or
immerse theTrimmer in water or other liquids
as damage toTrimmer may occur.
◗Never use sharp or hard objects to clean the
filter to avoid damaging it.
◗If cut hairs have accumulated in the Guide
Comb area,turnTrimmer off, pull Guide Comb
Attachment offTrimmer and remove hairs by
shaking and/or blowing.
Hair Collection Chamber
1Turn theTrimmer OFF.
2Remove the ClearView Hair Collection
chamber and filter (fig.14).
3Remove the hairs by carefully shaking them
out or by brushing them out with the
cleaning brush supplied (fig.15).
◗When trimming extremely long,dense beards,
it may be necessary to empty the Hair
Collection Chamber during the trimming
session in order to maintain optimal suction
performance.
◗If suction performance is not as strong as usual,
Hair Collection Chamber may require
emptying to restore optimal performance.
◗It is recommended that the Hair Collection
Chamber be emptied and cleaned out after
each use.
◗Do not operate theTrimmer with the Hair
Collection Chamber removed.
Trimmer
1Make sure theTrimmer is turned OFF and
disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2Remove the Guide CombAttachment.
3Remove the cutting unit (fig.11).
4Clean the cutting unit and the inside of the
Trimmer with the brush supplied (fig.16).
5Re-attach the cutting unit and the Guide
Comb into place on theTrimmer (fig. 17).
ReplacingThe Cutting Unit
If your cutters and filter become damaged or
worn, do not continue using theTrimmer.Replace
cutters and/or filter immediately.
ThisTrimmer has no other user-serviceable parts.

Battery Removal

Trimmer before dismantlingTrimmer.
2Allow theTrimmer to run until the battery is

4Remove the 2 side panels with a screwdriver
(fig.19).
Note:You may use a narrow flat blade screwdriver.
5Remove the front panel with a screwdriver
(fig.20).
6Pull out the printed circuit board (fig. 21).
7Remove the rechargeable battery using a
screwdriver and detach it by bending
or turning it several times until the
connections break (fig.22).
8Do not attempt to replace battery.Insulate
battery ends by covering with tape and/or
place battery in a small plastic bag.
9Discard yourTrimmer. Do not attempt to
plug electrical cord into the outlet or
recharge theTrimmer after the battery has
been removed.

Charging
Charge theTrimmer fully before you start using it
for the first time or after a long period of disuse.
Charge Indications
Low Battery
◗When the battery capacity is low and the
trimmer needs to be charged,the red low
battery indicator light will blink when the
trimmer is turned off (fig.2).
◗When the battery is completely empty,neither
the motor or the lights will go on.In this case
you can still trim using the cord provided.
Charging
◗When you start charging,the green charging
indicator light burns continuously (fig.3).
◗When the battery is fully charged, the green
charging indicator light blinks (fig.4).
To Charge / Recharge
◗(Re)charging requires approximately
70 minutes.
◗Use only the cord provided.
◗Battery performance is best if you recharge
only when the battery is (almost) completely
empty.
◗Charging or recharging at temperatures below
40ºF or higher than 95ºF adversely affects
lifetime of battery.
◗Continuously recharging or continuously using
as a cordedTrimmer will reduce life of battery.
◗You may also trim using the cord provided.This

Charging
Charge theTrimmer fully before you start using it
for the first time or after a long period of disuse.
Charge Indications
Low Battery
◗When the battery capacity is low and the
trimmer needs to be charged,the red low
battery indicator light will blink when the
trimmer is turned off (fig.2).
◗When the battery is completely empty, neither
the motor or the lights will go on.In this case
you can still trim using the cord provided.
Charging
◗When you start charging,the green charging
indicator light burns continuously (fig.3).
◗When the battery is fully charged,the green
charging indicator light blinks (fig.4).
To Charge / Recharge
◗(Re)charging requires approximately
70 minutes.
◗Use only the cord provided.
◗Battery performance is best if you recharge
only when the battery is (almost) completely
empty.
◗Charging or recharging at temperatures below
40ºF or higher than 95ºF adversely affects
lifetime of battery.
◗Continuously recharging or continuously using
as a cordedTrimmer will reduce life of battery.
◗You may also trim using the cord provided.This
Trimmer will not recharge while being used
corded.

◗Guide CombAttachment must be onTrimmer
in order to use the Zoom Lock.
1Turn the Zoom Lock to the desired trimming
length setting (see table).The setting will
appear in the window below the Zoom Lock
(fig.7).
◗If you are trimming for the first time, start by
using the maximum trimming length setting #9
to prevent accidentally trimming hairs too
short.As you become familiar with the settings,
adjust Zoom Lock to desired trimming length.
Zoom Lock will 'click' into position at each
setting.
2Turn theTrimmer ON.
3To trim in the most effective way,move the
Trimmer against the direction of hair growth.
Do not move the trimmer too fast. Make
smooth and gentle movements and make
sure the surface of the Guide Comb always
stays in contact with the skin (fig. 8).
Trimming Length SettingsTable
NOTE: Since all hairs do not grow in the same
direction, you may want to try different trimming
positions (i.e., upwards, downwards, or across).
Practice is best for optimum results.

2Replace Guide CombAttachment until it
'clicks' into position.The Guide Comb
Attachment can be placed onTrimmer only
one way by properly aligning it to slide into
the tracks on sides ofTrimmer head. If it
does not fit properly,reverse it.
NOTE:The Zoom Lock can be on any setting
when removing or replacing Attachment.
Cleaning
