SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS- Readbefore operatingequipment
This product was designedand manufactured to meetstrict quality and
safety standards. There are, however, some installation and operation
pre_:autionswhichyou should be particularly awareof.
1. ReadInstructions-Allthesafetyandoperatinginstructionsshould
bereadbeforetheapplianceisoperated.
2. RetainInstructions- Thesafetyandoperatinginstructionsshould
beretainedfor futurereference.
3. HeedWarnings- Allwarningsontheapplianceandintheoperating
instructionsshouldbeadheredto.
4. FollowInstructions- Alloperatinganduseinstructionsshouldbe
followed.
5. WaterandMoisture- Theapplianceshouldnotbeusednearwater
- for example,neara bathtub,washbowl,kitchensink,laundrytub,
in awetbasementor nearaswimmingpool,etc.
6. CartsandSlands- Theapplianceshouldbeusedonlywithacartor
standthatis recommendedbythemanufacturer.
6A. _ An applianceand cart combinationshould be moved
with care.Quickstops, excessiveforce, and uneven
surfacesmaycausetheapplianceandcartcombination
to overturn.
7. WallorCeilingMounting- Theapplianceshouldbe mountedto a
wallorceilingonlyasrecommendedbythemanufacturer.
8. Ventilation- Theapplianceshouldbesituatedsothatits locationor
positiondoesnotinterferewith its properventilation.Forexample,
theapplianceshouldnotbe situatedon a bed,sofa,rug,or sJmilar
surfacethat may blockthe ventilationopenings;or, placedin a
built-ininstallation,suchasa bookcaseor cabinetthatmayimpede
theflowofairthroughtheventilationopenings.
9. Heat-Theapplianceshouldbesituatedawayfrom heatsources
such as radiators, heatregisters, stoves, or other appliances
(includingamplifiers)thatproduceheat.
10. PowerSources- Theapplianceshouldbe connectedto a power
supplyonlyofthetypedescribedin theoperatinginstructionsor as
markedontheappliance.
11. Power-CordProtection-Powersupplycordsshouldbe routedso
thattheyarenot likelyto bewalkedon or pinchedbyitemsplaced
uponor against them, payingparticular attentionto cordsand
plugs,conveniencereceptacles,andthe pointwherethey exitfrom
theappliance.
12. Cleaning- Theapplianceshouldbecleanedonlyasrecommended
bythemanufacturer.
13. PowerLines- An outdoorantennashouldbe locatedawayfrom
power lines.
14. OutdoorAnlennaGrounding- Ifanoutsideantennaisconnectedto
the receiver,be suretheantennasystemis groundedsoas to
providesomeprotectionagainstvoltagesurgesandbuiltupstatic
charges.
Section810oftheNationalElectricCode,ANSI/NFPANo.70-1984,
providesinformationwithrespectto propergroundingofthemats
and supportingstructuregroundingof the lead-in wire to an
antennadischargeunit,sizeofgroundingconnectors,locationof
antenna-dischargeunit,connectionto groundingelectrodesand
requirementsforthegroundingelectrode.SeeFig.below.
15. Non-usePeriods- The powercordof theapplianceshould be
unpluggedfromtheoutletwhenleftunusedfor a longperiodof
time.
16. ObjeclandLiquid Entry- Careshouldbetakensothatobjectsdo
not fall andliquidsare not spilled intothe enclosurethrough
openings.
17. DamageRequiringService- Theapplianceshouldbeservicedby
qualifiedservicepersonnelwhen:
A. Thepowersupplycordortheplughasbeendamaged;or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilledinto the
appliance;or
C. Theappliancehasbeenexposedtorain;or
D. Theappliancedoesnotappearto operatenormallyorexhibits
amarkedchangeinperformance;or
E. Theappliancehasbeendropped,ortheenclosuredamaged.
18. Servicing- Theusershouldnot attemptto servicetheappliance
beyondthatdescribedin theoperatinginstructions.All other
servicingshouldbereferredtoqualifiedservicepersonnel.
Note to the CATVsysteminstaller: This reminder isprovided to call the
CATVsystem installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelines for propergrounding and,in particular,specifies that
the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the
building, asclose to the point of cable entry aspractical.
