Important Safety Instructions
1. Read these instructions - All the safety and operating
instructions should be read before the unit is operated.

be followed.
5. Do not use this product near water or moisture - This product
should not be used near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink,
laundry tub, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, or
anywhere else that water or moisture are present.
6. Cleaning - This product should be cleaned only as
recommended by PianoDisc®. Unplug this product from the wall
outlet before cleaning.
7. Proper ventilation - This product should be situated so that its
location or position does not interfere with its proper functioning.
For example, do not place the product on a bed, sofa, or similar
surface that may obstruct the unit.
8. Do not install near any heat sources, such as radiators, heat
registers, stoves or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that
produce heat.
9. Do not install or operate near any sources of open flame, such
as candles or oil lamps. No sources of open flame should ever
be placed on or near this product.
10. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-
type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than
the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third
grounding prong. The wider blade or third prong are provided for
your safety. If the provided plug does not fit in your outlet,
consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
11. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched,
particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point
where they exit from the apparatus.
12. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the
manufacturer.

13. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket
or table specified by the manufacturer or
sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used,
use caution when moving the cart/apparatus
combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
14. Unplug this apparatus during lightning
storms or when unused for long periods of
time - to prevent damage to this product.
15. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is
required when the product has been damaged in any way: such
as the power supply cord or plug has been damaged; liquid has
been spilled or objects have fallen into the product; the product
has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate
normally, or has been dropped - Do not attempt to service this
product yourself. Opening or removing covers may expose you
to dangerous voltages or other hazards. Please call
PianoDisc® to be referred to an authorized service center near
you.
16. To prevent risk of fire or electric shock, avoid overloading wall
outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles.
17. Do not let objects or liquids enter the product - as they may
touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could
result in a fire or electric shock.
18. Do not install near any apparatus that is sensitive to magnetic
fields - The product contains permanent magnets that could
disrupt the operation of apparatus such as computer disk drives
or CRT devices including TV sets and computer monitors.
19. Avoid power lines - Use extreme care when installing an outside
antenna system to keep from touching power lines or circuits, as
contact with them may be fatal. Do not install external antennas
near overhead power lines or other electric light or power
circuits, nor where an antenna can fall into such circuits or
power lines.
20. Ground all outdoor antennas - If an external antenna or cable
system is connected to this product, be sure the antenna or
cable system is grounded. This will provide some protection
against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Section 810
of the National Electrical Code ANSI/ NFPA No. 70 provides
information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and
supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to the
antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location
of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes,

and requirements for the ground electrode. Refer to the antenna
grounding illustration on this page.
21. See user instructions for safety related markings.
22. Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no
objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the
apparatus.
Information about products that generate electrical noise
If applicable, this equipment has been tested and found to
comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to
Part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference in a
residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and
can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used
in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful
interference to radio communications. However, this is no
guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to
radio or television reception, which can be determined by
turning the equipment off and on, you are encouraged to try to
correct the interference by one or more of the following
measures:
• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
• Connect the equipment to an outlet on a different circuit than the
one to which the receiver is connected.
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for
help.
Note: Unauthorized modification of the receiver or radio remote
control could void the user's authority to operate this equipment.

Antenna grounding. Example of antenna grounding as per National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
Note to CATV system installer. This reminder is provided to call the
CATV system installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NED (of USA)
that provides guidelines for proper grounding. In particular, it specifies
that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the
building, as close to the point of cable entry as is practical

distortion, 40 Hz - 20 kHz, >85 dB signal-to-noise ratio, 35 Watts peak

Input Sensitivity. 200 mV for maximum output.

Frequency Response. - 3 dB (half power) points at 40Hz and 20kHz
(depending on tone control settings.)

Controls. Power on/off, auto power on/off, LED power-on indicator,
rotary volume, bass, and treble controls.
Input/Output Panel. RCA receptacles for audio input and output (for
daisy chaining), AC input jack with ground, and On/Off switch.

PDS150 and PDS250 Features
The PianoDisc® PDS150 and PDS250 Powered Speakers are high-
quality, high fidelity loudspeakers. Each speaker includes:
• Two high quality drivers - a polypropylene woofer and a tweeter for
excellent performance across a wide frequency range.
• A powerful amplifier with discrete output devices providing peak
power output of 35 Watts.
• Automatic on and off operation, which is turned on by the presence
of music, and turns off one minute after the music stops.
• Treble and bass controls which allow adjustment of the sound to
match any specific environment.
• Volume control that works with various line level sources.

Connecting to a PDS Powered Speaker
Connecting to a PDS Powered Speaker
1. With the power switch still in the OFF position plug the AC
power cord into the socket labeled AC~IN.
2. Plug the AC power cord into a household wall outlet. Note that
the plug only fits in the outlet one way. Do not defeat this
polarization.
3. Connect one end of the 2.4 m long audio cable supplied with the
speaker to the INPUT jack on the speaker.
4. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the source. This can
be done in one of two ways:
a. Connect directly to either the right or left channel "tape out"
RCA connector on most audio system sources, such as
preamps, amplifiers, receivers, VCRs, etc. (Note: your
source may use different terminology such as: "audio out,"
"direct out," "line out," etc.)
b. For portable sources such as portable CD players you will
need to use a 3.5 mm stereo to RCA plug adapter. Plug the
audio cable into the adapter RCA jack then plug the stereo
3.5 mm plug into the earphone jack of the source.
5. If you have two PDS speakers for full stereo sound, connect as
follows:
a. For audio system sources simply connect the second
speaker to the other channel output on the system. Place
the speaker connected to the red jack on the right of the
listening position.
b. For portable sources you will need to purchase a cable that
has a stereo plug on one end and two RCA plugs on the
other. Connect the red RCA plug to the right speaker and
the white plug to the left speaker.

Placement of a PDS Powered Speaker
The PDS150 and 250 speakers are designed for mounting to a beam
under a grand piano that is equipped with a PianoDisc® player system.
If this is what you have, the speaker was installed at the factory or by a
certified PianoDisc® field technician using the supplied bracket and
screws.

Power on/off switch. This switch is located on the back panel of the
speaker. Pushing the button to the ON position turns on the built in
amplifier. The green LED light will illuminate to indicate that the power is
on. The power can be left on all the time since the speaker will go to a
low power stand-by mode after one minute of no music input. If you will
be away for an extended period you can push the button to the OFF
position.
Volume control. This is used to set the maximum volume for a given
input level. For portable sources such as personal CD players that have
their own volume control set the speaker volume to about ¾ of full
clockwise position. The volume control on the source will then be used
to set the listening volume. For fixed line out sources you can use the
speaker volume control to set the desired listening volume.
Tone controls. These controls let you adjust the amount of high
(TREBLE) or low (BASS) frequency volume there is compared to the
rest of the music. Adjust these controls along with the volume to get the
sound that you desire.

Maintenance and Support
Cleaning a PDS Powered Speaker. The finish on the speaker is a
scratch resistant powder coat that needs very little maintenance. If it
needs cleaning, use a damp (not wet) cloth. Do not use chemical
cleaners on the surface.

dessen Lage bzw. Aufstellungsort die einwandfreie Funktion
des Geräts nicht beeinträchtigt. Beispielsweise stellen Sie das
Gerät nicht auf ein Bett, Sofa oder auf eine ähnliche Fläche, die
das Gerät versperren könnte.
8. Bringen Sie es nicht in der Nähe von Wärmequellen an, z.B.
von Heizkörpern, Heizregistern, Herden oder anderen
Apparaten (auch von Verstärkern), die Wärme erzeugen.
9. Bitte keine Objekte mit offener Flamme, wie zum Beispiel
brennende Kerzen, auf dem Geraet platzieren.
10. Übergehen Sie nicht den Sicherheitszweck eines gepolten oder
mit Schutzleiter versehenen Steckers. Ein gepolter Stecker hat
zwei Kontaktstifte, wobei einer breiter als der andere ist. Ein
Stecker mit Schutzleiter hat zwei Kontaktstifte und einen dritten
Schutzleiterkontakt. Der breitere Kontaktstift bzw. der dritte
Schutzleiterkontakt dient Ihrer Sicherheit. Wenn der
mitgelieferte Stecker nicht in Ihre Steckdose passt, lassen Sie
ihn von einem Elektriker durch einen passenden Stecker
ersetzen.
11. Schützen Sie das Netzanschlusskabel vor Drauftreten oder
Einklemmen, speziell an Stecker oder Anschlussdose und an
der Stelle, an der es aus dem Gerät austritt.

12. Nur vom Hersteller angegebenes Zubehör verwenden.
13. Nur mit dem vom Hersteller angegebenen oder mit dem Gerät
verkauften Wagen, Ständer, Stativ, Konsol oder
Tisch benutzen. Wenn ein Wagen benutzt wird,
darauf achten, dass beim Bewegen des Geräts
auf dem Wagen Verletzungen durch Umfallen
vermieden werden.
14. Bei Gewittern oder bei längerem
Nichtgebrauch den Stecker des Geräts aus der
Steckdose ziehen – um Schäden am Gerät zu vermeiden.
15. Überlassen Sie jede Instandsetzung dem
Kundendienstpersonal. Instandsetzung wird erforderlich, wenn
das Produkt irgendwie beschädigt wurde: z.B. der Stecker
wurde beschädigt, Flüssigkeiten oder Gegenstände sind in das
Gerät eingedrungen oder gefallen, das Gerät wurde Regen oder
Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt, funktioniert nicht mehr richtig oder
wurde fallen gelassen. – Versuchen Sie nicht, das Gerät selbst
instand zusetzen. Öffnen oder Entfernen von Abdeckungen
kann Sie gefährlichen Spannungen oder anderen Gefahren
aussetzen. Bitte rufen Sie PianoDisc® an, um an ein
autorisiertes Kundendienstcenter in Ihrer Nähe verwiesen zu
werden.
16. Um Brandgefahr oder Gefahr von elektrischem Schlag zu
verhindern, vermeiden Sie die Überlastung von Steckdosen,
Verlängerungskabeln oder eingebauten Steckeranschlüssen.
17. Lassen Sie keine Gegenstände oder Flüssigkeiten in das Gerät
eindringen – da diese Stellen mit gefährlichen Spannungen
berühren oder Teile kurzschließen könnten, die zu einem Brand
oder gefährlichen Schlag führen könnten.
18. Bringen Sie das Produkt nicht in der Nähe von Geräten an, die
gegen Magnetfelder empfindlich sind. – Das Produkt enthält
Permanentmagnete, welche den Betrieb von Geräten wie
Computern, Laufwerken oder CRT-Monitoren einschließlich von
Fernsehgeräten und Computerbildschirmen unterbrechen
könnte.
19. Meiden Sie Stromleitungen – Seien Sie beim Installieren einer
Außenantenne extrem vorsichtig, damit diese keine
Stromleitungen oder Stromkreise berührt, da ein Kontakt damit
tödlich sein kann. Installieren Sie keine Außenantennen in der
Nähe von Freileitungen oder anderen Licht- oder
Kraftstromleitungen oder dort, wo die Antenne in solche
Stromkreise oder Leitungen hineinfallen könnte.

20. Erden Sie alle Antennen – Wenn dieses Produkt an ein
Außenantennen- oder Kabelsystem angeschlossen wird, ist
darauf zu achten, dass die Antenne oder das Kabelsystem
geerdet ist. Dies bietet einen gewissen Schutz vor
Spannungsspitzen und den Aufbau von statischen Ladungen.
Abschnitt 810 der nationalen Elektrovorschriften ANSI / NFPA
Nr. 70 liefert Informationen bezüglich der richtigen Erdung von
Masten und Tragkonstruktionen, Erdung von
Einführungsleitungen für Antennen-Entladungsanlagen, Größe
von Erdungsleitern, Lage von Antennen-Entladungsanlagen,
Anschluss an Erdungsstäbe und Anforderungen an
Erdungsstäbe. Siehe Abbildung zur Antennenerdung auf dieser
Seite.

22. Das Gerät darf keinem Tropf- oder Spritzwasser ausgesetzt
werden, keine mit Flüssigkeiten gefüllten Gegenstände darauf
abstellen.
