Basic Operation and Troubleshooting
This manual provides information on basic operation and offers examples of
what may seem to be malfunctions.
Be sure to refer to this manual when you have a problem with operation or
before requesting repairs.

CONVENTIONAL TV
Selection of CONVENTIONAL TV channels is not possible with
the remote control's CH(+/-) channel selection button. 10
DIGITAL TV
No display of digital TV broadcasts or EPG. 11
The Media Receiver and Plasma isplay referred to in this manual are the
P P-5040H and P P-4340H .

Operate the remote control while pointing it towards the Plasma isplay's remote control sensor.
* If you switch power to the unit off, press the Plasma
isplay's POWER button.
Remote Control Sensor
Confirming power suppl to the Media Receiver and Plasma Displa
Basic remote control operation
* If the STAN BY indicators do not light even after pressing the POWER buttons, please refer to P.5.
Using these instructions is convenient until you become accustomed to operating the units.
For more details refer to the Operating Instructions.
Confirm that the Media Receiver and Plasma isplay STAN BY indicators are lit red.
If they are not lit, press the Media Receiver and Plasma isplay POWER buttons.
* Press the button with the same number and color on the
remote control.
Switch power on.
Watching conventional TV channels
Press the ANT button, and select ANTENNA.
Input the number of the desired channel, or select the
desired channel with the CH +/- button.
Watching digital TV channels
Press the TV button.
Input the number of the desired channel, or select the
desired channel with the CH +/- button.
Watching DVD and VCR images
Press the INPUT button.
Adjust volume level.
Switch power off.

Cause 1 Are the Plasma isplay and Media Receiver power cords disconnected? Solution 1
Is power to the Plasma Displa and Media Receiver switched on? Solution 2
Cause 2 Is the Media Receiver's power cord disconnected? Solution 3
Is power to the Media Receiver switched on? Solution 4
Cause 3 Is the Plasma isplay's power cord disconnected? Solution 5
Is power to the Plasma Displa switched on? Solution 6
Cause 4 Is the system cable disconnected or almost disconnected? Solution 7
Solution 1 Connect the Plasma isplay and Media Receiver's power cables to the power outlet.
Solution 2 Press the Plasma Displa and Media Receiver's POWER buttons to switch power on.
Solution 3 Connect the Media Receiver's power cable to the power outlet.
Solution 4 Press the Media Receiver's POWER button to switch power on.
Solution 5 Connect the Plasma isplay's power cable to the power outlet.
Solution 6 Press the Plasma Displa 's POWER button to switch power on.
Solution 7 Connect the system cable correctly. (Refer to P.7)
Problem

The unit's protection circuitr ma be operating.
Press the Plasma Displa and Media Receiver's POWER button to switch power
off, and wait for one minute or more before switching power on again.
If that doesn't solve the problem, be sure to disconnect the unit from the power outlet before
contacting the store where the unit was purchased. If you do not know how to contact the store or the
store is not nearby, consult with PIONEER Electronics (USA) Inc. or PIONEER Electronics of Canada,
Inc. (Refer to P.12)

correctly connected to each of
the units, referring to the figures
on the right. Switch power to the
units on after waitin for a
minute or more.

control's CH(+/-) channel selection button.
Has the desired CONVENTIONAL TV channel been set to Delete with
Channel ADD/DEL ?
If the desired broadcast has been set to elete with Channel A / EL, channel selection is not
possible with the remote control's CH (+/-) channel selection button.
Set the desired CONVENTIONAL TV channel to Add with Channel ADD/DEL.
