Please read through all instructions before installation begins. Proper preparation and planning will assure a correct and trouble free installation.
CAUTION:
• This cable has been designed and manufactured and the instructions have been written for the sole intended use of preventing the formation
of ice dams upon pitched roofs with non-combustible tab shingles, in gutters and in downspouts.
• Always directly connect cable to 120 V, weatherproof outlet with proper grounding. Use only watertight construction or enclosures Type 3, 3S,
4, 4X or 6P junction box when installing.
• Make certain the gutters and downspouts are free of leaves and other debris prior to the winter season.
• Do not allow cable to overlap or crisscross.
• Cable contains NO serviceable parts and cannot be altered in length. Any attempt to physically alter the cable will void the warranty.
TESTING THE CABLE:
Uncoil cable completely and lay out on the ground. Do not allow the cable to touch itself. Plug the cable in and wait approximately 5 minutes. Cable
should feel slightly warm to the touch.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Begin the installation process by determining the portions of the roof where snow and ice may accumulate. Plan to install the roof and gutter
cable in all gutters and down all downspouts. This wilt maintain a path for melted water to flow. Structures without eaves may find this amount
of protection to be sufficient. For structures with eaves, plan to form the cable into a series of triangles along the roof. The peak of each triangle
should be the width of the eave plus one foot (See Figure 2A), with the base of the triangle forming a drip loop that is extended into the gutter
to allow water to flow off of the roof (See Figure 2B). Allow one to two feet between triangles (See Figure 2C). Additional height along the roof
and/or closer spacing may be required near valleys or dormers where snow and ice tend to accumulate.
2. Use care when working upon the roof or along the gutters of any structure in order to avoid personal injury. Be alert to the possible danger from
power lines and tree branches which may be in the vicinity. Be sure that the ladder has secure footing placement. Once a safe working condition
has been established, begin to mark the spacing of each triangle with a chalk mark on the roof. After this has been completed, carefully begin
to attach the provided aluminum clips along the planned route.The points on each clip are designed to penetrate asphalt type shingle material.
Slide the clip under the edge of a shingle, force the shingle down over the points and bend the points over to secure the clip in place (See Figure
2D). Continue this process along the planned route. If a triangle extends further than three feet, use a clip at the mid-point.
3. Begin the cable installation at the outlet box. The outlet box shall be a permanently installed, weatherproof, properly grounded receptacle having
GFCI protection. Install the outlet box under the eaves.Arrange the power condition so that the cordset (the portion of the cable with the three prong
plug) approaches the outlet from below, forming a drip loop, so that water will not run down the cord to the plug and into the outlet (See Figure 2E).
4. Extend the cable along the roof following the triangle patterns laid out Route the cable carefully so as to avoid abuse from a ladder or other
object. With a gloved hand, press (or curl) the open end of the aluminum clip down over the roof and gutter cable sufficient to hold the cable
tn position. Do not pound tile clips with a hammer as this may damage the cable. Use caution to press the clip firm but not to cut the cable or
outer Jacket in any way. Repeat this procedure along the entire length of the roof. Remember to form a drip loop into the gutter at the end of
each triangle (See Figure 2B).
5. The roof and gutter cable is now secured to the roof. Lay the remaining cable into the gutter and proceed with the installation. If, after securing
the cable to the roof, no additional cable is available, you must begin a second run of cable in the gutter.
6. The cable shall be laid in the bottom of the gutter (See Figure 2B) and down each downspout along the run. For downspouts in the middle of a
cable run, extend the cable down and then back up the same downspout, making sure to affix cable spacers every 6-8 inches to prevent the
cable from coming in contact with itself (See Figure 2F). At the end of the installation, extend the tail to the cable to the end of the downspout,
allowing it to protrude slightly from the opening so that the melting water can flow. Protect all cable that protrudes past the lower opening of
the downspout
7. Carefully recheck the installation to be sure all clips are fastened securely and that the cable has not come in contact with itself at any point,
especially in the downspout. If an excess of cable remains, you may extend a few of the triangles on the roof to compensate. If a small amount
of additional cable is needed, you may shorten a few of the triangles in an area having fess need. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SHORTEN, CUT OR
SPLICE THE ROOF AND GUTTER CABLE. Two copies of a caution notice indicating the presence of electric de-icing and snow-melting equip-
ment on the premises are packed with this unit. One notice must be posted at the fuse or circuit-breaker and the other on or next to the on/off
control for the cable unit Both notices must be clearly visible.
8. If the power cord is shortened cordtag with cable information must be retained.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Turn on power to the roof and gutter cable only when snow and ice are me!ttng and the air temperature is between 15°F and 35°F, the cable
may not provide a path for moisture and partial mefting may be undesirable.
2. Turn off the cable when the melting condition has stopped. Roof and gutter cable may be left in place all year, but disconnect the circuit sup-
plying power to the cable in the summer months so that the cable cannot be accrdenta!ly turned on.
3. As with any electrical equipment or appliance, care must be exercised and manufacturers instructions followed.

PIRIT®Heated Products, Wrap-On warrants this product against defects in material or workmanship for a period of two years from the date of
purchase when installed according to manufacturer’s instructions set forth on product packaging and enclosures. Use of this product is limited to

PIRIT®Heated Products, Wrap-On will replace defective products covered by this warranty provided they are returned postage or shipping prepaid.

ATTENTION :
• Ce câble a été conçu et fabriqué, et les directives ont été rédigées, dans le but exclusif de prévenir la formation de digues de glace sur Ses toits
inclinés couverts de pattes de bardeau incombustibles et dans les gouttières et tuyaux de descente.
• Toujours brancher directement le câble dans une prise intempérisée de 120 volts avec mise à la terre adéquate. À l’installation, n’utiliser que
des boîtes de connexion imperméables ou à logements de type 3,3S, 4,4X ou 6P.
• S’assurer que les gouttières ou tuyaux de descente sont exempts de feuilles ou autres débris avant la saison hivernale.
• S’assurer qu’il n’y a pas de chevauchement ni de croisement du câble.
• Le câble ne contient AUCUNE pièce réparable et sa longueur ne peut pas être modifiée. Toute tentative d’altération physique du câble annulera
la garantie.
MISE À L’ESSAI DU CÂBLE :
Dérouler tout le câble et l’étendre sur le sol. S’assurer que le câble est linéaire, sans chevauchement ni croisement. Brancher le câble et patienter
environ cinq minutes. Le câble devrait être légèrement chaud au toucher.
DIRECTIVES D’INSTALLATION
1. Déterminer d’abord les endroits où la neige et la glace pourraient s’accumuler sur le toit. Prévoir d’installer le câble de toiture et gouttière dans
toutes les gouttières et le long de tous les tuyaux de descente. L’eau provenant de la neige ou glace fondue pourra ainsi s’écouler. Cette protec-
tion pourrait suffire pour les structures sans avant-toit. Pour les structures avec avant-toit, prévoir d’installer le câble en une série de triangles
le long de la toiture. La pointe de chaque triangle devrait être de la largeur de l’avant-toit plus 0,3 m (voir la figure 2A). La base du triangle
devrait former une boucle d’égouttement qui se prolonge dans la gouttière, pour permettre à l’eau de s’écouler de la toiture (voir la figure 2B).
Espacer les triangles de 0,3 à 0,6 m (voir la figure 2C). Une hauteur additionnelle le long du toit et/ou un espacement inférieur pourraient être
requis près des noues ou lucarnes où la neige et la glace ont tendance à s’accumuler.
2. Pour éviter les blessures, faire preuve de prudence sur le toit ou !e long des gouttières de toute structure. Tenir compte du risque éventuel
que posent les lignes électriques et les branches environnantes. S’assurer que i’écheile est solidement positionnée. Après avoir pris toutes les
dispositions pour créer un environnement de travail sécuritaire, marquer l’espacement de chaque triangle sur le toit avec une craie. Une fois
terminé, fixer soigneusement les attaches en aluminium fournies le long du trajet prévu. Les pointes de chaque attache sont conçues pour
être insérées dans des bardeaux d’asphalte. Glisser l’attache sous l’extrémité d’un bardeau, enfoncer le bardeau sur les pointes puis repiier
celles-ci pour fixer l’attache (voir la figure 2D). Procéder de ia même façon tout le long du trajet prévu pour le câble. Si un triangle mesure plus
de 0,9 m, fixer une attache à mi-chemin.
3. Entamer l’installation du câble au niveau de la boîte à prise. Il dort s’agir d’une prise intempérisée, permanente et adéquatement mise à Sa
terre, dotée d’une protection par DDFT. Installer la boîte à prise sous î’avant-toit. Conditionner l’alimentation de manière à ce que le cordon (la
partie du câble équipée de la fiche à trois broches) atteigne la prise par en dessous en formant une boude d’égouttement, pour que l’eau ne
s’écoule pas le long du cordon vers la fiche et dans la prise (voir Sa figure 2E).
4. Étendre le câble le long de la toiture en suivant les triangles dessinés. Positionner soigneusement le câble pour éviter tout contact avec une
échelle ou un autre objet. Avec une main gantée, replier ou courber l’extrémité ouverte de l’attache en aluminium sur le câble de toiture et
gouttière de manière à ce qu’il tienne bien en place. Ne pas frapper sur les attaches avec un marteau, car cela pourrait endommager le câble.
Appuyer fermement sur l’attache, mais s’assurer de ne pas couper le câble ni son recouvrement. Procéder de ia même façon sur l’intégralité
de la toiture. Ne pas oublier de former une boucle d’égouttement au bout de chaque triangle (voir la figure 2B).
5. Le câble de torture et gouttière est maintenant fixé sur le toit. Déposer le reste du câble dans la gouttière et poursuivre l’installation. Si l’in-
tégralité du câble a été positionnée sur le tort, en installer un deuxième dans la gouttière.
6. Le câble devra être déposé au fond de la gouttière (voir la figure 2B) et dans chaque tuyau de descente le long du trajet. Si des tuyaux de
descente se situent au centre du trajet, faire descendre le câble le long du tuyau puis le faire remonteren s’assurant de fixer des espaceurs
tous les 15 à 20 cm pour éviter tout chevauchement ou croisement du câble (voir la figure 2F). Tirer l’extrémité du câble jusqu’au bout du
dernier tuyau de descente de manière à ce qu’il en ressorte légèrement. L’eau provenant de la fonte de la neige ou glace pourra ainsi s’écouler.
Protéger tous les câbles qui s’étendent au-delà de l’ouverture du tuyau de descente.
7. Passer soigneusement l’installation en revue pour garantir que toutes les attaches sont solidement fixées et qu’il n’y a aucun chevauchement

ni croisement dans le câble, surtout dans les tuyaux de descente. S’il reste un excédent de câble, on peut prolonger quelques-uns des triangles
sur le toit pour compenser. Si un peu plus de câble est requis, on peut raccourcir quelques-uns des triangles là ou les exigences sont moindres.
NE PAS TENTER DE RACCOURCIR, COUPER OU ÉPÏSSER LE CÂBLE DE TOITURE ET GOUTTIÈRE. Cette unité est accompagnée d’une mise
en garde en deux exemplaires indiquant la présence d’équipement de déneigement et déglaçage électriques sur les lieux. Une de ces mises
en garde doit être affichée au niveau du disjoncteur et l’autre sur ou à côté de la commande de mise sous/hors tension de l’unité du câble. Les
deux mises en garde doivent être clairement visibles.
8. Si le cordon électrique est raccourci, l’étiquette contenant les renseignements sur le câble doit être conservée.
DIRECTIVES DE FONCTIONNEMENT
1. Ne mettre le câble de toiture et gouttière sous tension que lorsque la neige et la glace fondent et que la température ambiante est de -9 à 2
°C. Le câble pourrait autrement ne pas fournir de trajectoire pour l’humidité et une fonte partielle pourrait être indésirable.
2. Mettre le câble hors tension dès la disparition des conditions de fonte. Le câble de toiture et gouttière peut être laissé en place toute l’année,
mais débrancher le circuit d’alimentation du câble l’été pour qu’il ne soit pas accidentellement mis sous tension.
3. Comme c’est le cas pour tout type d’équipement ou appareil électrique, faire preuve de précautions et suivre les directives des fabricants.

CANALONES Y TUBERÍAS DE BAJADA PLUVIALES DE METAL O PLÁSTICO/VINILO
Lea todas las instrucciones antes de comenzar con la instalación. La preparación y planificación adecuadas asegurarán una
instalación correcta y sin problemas.
PRECAUCIÓN:
• Este cable ha sido diseñado y fabricado, y las instrucciones han sido escritas, con el único propósito de ser usados para evitar la formación de
barreras de hielo en techos a dos aguas con tejas de tablilla no combustibles, en canalones y tuberías de bajada pluviales.
• Siempre conecte directamente el cable a un tomacorriente de 120 V, impermeable con conexión a tierra adecuada. Utilice solo cajas de con-
exiones de construcción hermética o cierres tipo 3,3S, 4,4X o 6P al instalar.
• Asegúrese de que los canalones y tuberías de bajada pluviales no tengan hojas y otros residuos antes de la temporada invernal.
• No permita que el cable se superponga o se cruce.
• El cable NO contiene ninguna pieza que pueda repararse y no puede alterarse su longitud. Cualquier intento de alterar físicamente el cable
anulará la garantía.
PRUEBA DEL CABLE:
Desenrolle el cable completamente y extiéndalo en el piso. No permita que el cable se toque. Enchufe el cable y espere aproximadamente 5 minutos.
El cable debería sentirse algo tibio al tacto.
INSTRUCCIONES DE INSTALACIÓN
1. Comience el proceso de instalación determinando las partes del techo donde podrian acumularse la nieve y el hielo. Planifique instalar el cable
para el techo y el canalón en todos los canalones y por todas las tuberías de bajada pluviales. Esto mantendrá un camino para que fluya el agua
derretida. Esta cantidad de protección podría ser suficiente para las estructuras sin aleros. Para ¡as estructuras con aleros, planifique darle
forma ai cable en una serie de triángulos a lo largo del techo. El pico de cada triángulo debe ser del ancho del alero más un pie (30 cm) (vea
la Figura 2A), con la base del triángulo formando un bucle de goteo que se extienda hasta el canalón para permitir que el agua fluya del techo
(vea la Figura 2B). Deje uno a dos pies (30 a 60 cm) entre los triángulos (vea ia Figura 2C), Podría requerirse una altura adicional a lo largo del

fuerce la teja hacia abajo sobre (os puntos y dóblelas sobre la abrazadera para asegurarla en su lugar (vea la Figura 2D). Continúe este proceso
a lo largo de ia ruta planificada. Si el triángulo se extiende más de tres pies (91 cm), utilice un clip en el punto medio.
3. Comience la instalación del cable en la caja del tomacorriente. La caja de! tomacorriente será un receptáculo de instalación permanentemente,
impermeable, correctamente conectado a tierra con protección GFCI (interruptor de circuito de descarga a tierra). Instale la caja del tomacor-
riente debajo de los aleros. Adapte la condición de energía de forma que el conjunto def cable (la parte del cable con el enchufe de tres patas)
se acerque al tomaconrientes desde abajo, formando un bucle de goteo, para que el agua no corra por el cable hacia el enchufe y hacia el
tomacorriente (vea la Figura 2E).
4. Extienda el cable por el techo siguiendo ios patrones de triángulo trazados. Coloque el cable con cuidado de forma de evitar daños de la es-
calera u otro objeto. Con un guante en la mano, presione (o rice) el extremo abierto de la abrazadera de aluminio sobre el cable del techo y el
canalón lo suficiente para mantener el cable en posición. No golpee las abrazaderas con un martillo, ya que esto podría dañar eí cable. Tenga
precaución de presionar la abrazadera firmemente pero sin cortar el cable o la funda extema de ningún modo. Repita este procedimiento a lo
largo de toda la longitud del techo. Recuerde formar un bucle de goteo en el canalón al final de cada triángulo (vea la Figura 2B).
5. El cable de! techo y del canalón ahora está asegurado al techo. Coloque el cable restante en e! canalón y proceda con la instalación. Si, después
de asegurar el cable al techo, no hay un cable adicional, debe comenzar una segunda vuelta del cable en el canalón.
6. El cable debe colocarse en el fondo del canalón (vea la Figura 2B) y por cada tubería de bajada pluvial a lo largo de! recorrido del cable. Para
tuberías de bajada pluviales en el medio del recorrido del cable, extienda el cable hacia abajo y luego otra vez hacia arriba por la misma bajada
pluvial, asegurándose de fijar espaciadores de cable cada 6 a 8 pulgadas (15.2 a 20.3 cm) para evitar que el cable entre en contacto con sí
mismo (vea la Figura 2F). Al final de la instalación, extienda ia coia de! cable af extremo de la tubería de bajada pluvial, permitiendo que so-
bresalga levemente de la abertura para que el agua derretida pueda fluir. Proteja todo cable que sobresalga más de la abertura inferior de la
tubería bajada pluvial.

7. Vuelva a verificar con cuidado la instalación para asegurarse de que todas las abrazaderas estén cerradas de forma segura y que el cable no
haya entrado en contacto con sí mismo en ningún punto, especialmente en la tubería de bajada pluvial. Si tiene un exceso de cable, puede ex-
tender algunos de los triángulos del techo para compensar. Si necesita una pequeña cantidad de cable adicional, puede acortar algunos de los
triángulos en un área que tenga menos necesidad. NO INTENTE ACORTAR, CORTAR NI EMPALMAR EL CABLE DEL TECHO Y DEL CANALÓN.
Con esta unidad vienen dos copias de un aviso de precaución que indica la presencia de equipo eléctrico de derretimiento de hielo y nieve en
el sitio. Debe colocar un aviso en la caja de fusibles o disyuntor y el otro junto al control de encendido/apagado de la unidad del cable. Ambos
avisos deben estar claramente visibles.
