IMPORTANT!Themountinginstructionsareforthequalifiedinstallationpersononly!
ThePlanarLC1503Rcanbemountedthreedifferentways.Therearofthedisplayis
compatiblewithaVESA75mountinginterface,thesidesofthedisplaysupportside‐oriented
mounting,ortheenclosedmountingbracketscanbeattachedtothesideofthedisplayfor
rear/front‐orientedmounting.
VESA75Mounting
1. ChooseaVESA75compatiblebracketthatcansupportaminimumof13.2lbs.
2. Followthemanufacturersinstructionsforconnectingthemountingbrackettothe
displayunit.
3. Makesuretouseallfourscrewstosecurelymountthedisplaytothebracketand
securethebrackettoastablemountingsurface.
Side‐OrientedMounting
1. Chooseamountinglocationthatcansupportaminimumof13.2lbs.
2. Alignthedisplayinthemountinglocationandverifythescrewholesarecorrectly
positionedonbothsidesofthemountinglocationandthedisplay.
3. Choosescrewsofappropriatelengthtotraversethethicknessofthemounting
surfaceandsecurelyattachtothedisplay.
4. Connectallfourscrewstothedisplayandtightenfirmly.
Rear/Front‐OrientedMounting
1. Chooseamountinglocationthatcansupportaminimumof13.2lbs.
2. Determinewhetheryouwantarearorfrontorientedmount,andpositionthe
mountingbracketsaccordingly.
3. Attachthemountingbracketstothesideofthedisplayusingtheenclosedscrews
andtightenfirmly.
4. Connectthemountingbracketstothemountingsurfacesecurely.

IMPORTANT!Theoptionalcoolingkitshouldonlybeinstalledbyqualifiedpersonnel.
ThePlanarLC1503Rcanbefittedwithanoptionalcoolingkittoexpandthetemperaturerange
ofthedisplayforspecificapplications.TheoptionalcoolingkitistypicallyinstalledbyPlanar
personnelatassemblytimebutcanbeinstalledinthefieldundersomecircumstances.Take
allnecessaryprecautionswheninstallingtheLC1503Rcoolingkitasdamagetothedisplaycan
occurwithoutpropercare.Forbestresults,thecoolingkitshouldbeusedwithacoverglass
placedinsidetheframe(notprovided).
1. DisconnectthepowercordfromtheLC1503R.
2. UnpacktheCoolingKitfromthepackaging.
3. Laythecoolingkitfacedownonasturdysurface(fanventspointingup).
4. PositiontheLC1503Rsuchthebottomofthedisplayisrestingontheframeofthe
coolingkit.
5. Carefullyanglethebaseofthedisplayintotheframeofthecoolingkitbeingsure
nottopressthesharpedgesofthecoolingkitintotheLCDfrontsurface.When
completelyinserted,thecoolingkitframewillsecurelyencompasstheleft,right,
andbottomsidesofthedisplay.
6. Securethecoolingkittotheleftandrightsidesusingthefourscrewsprovided.
7. Connectthepowercordfromthecoolingkittothedisplayunit.
8. ConnecttheVGAcablefromthehostcomputertothedisplayunit.
9. Connectthepowercabletothewalloutletandthecoolingkitpowerconnector.
10. Poweronthedisplayandthehostcomputer.

ConnectingtheDisplay(Figure1.1)
Tosetupthisdisplay,pleaserefertothefollowingfigureandprocedures.
1. Besureallequipmentisoff.
2. ConnecttheDCadaptertothepowerconnectoronthemonitorandtheotherendto
thepowercordandthepowercordintoanelectricaloutlet.
3. ConnecttheVGAsignalcablefromthedisplay’sVGAinputconnectortotheVGAport
connectorofyourhostcomputerandtightenthethumb‐screws(1.1).
4. Poweronthedisplayandthenpoweronyourhostcomputer.
Notice:ToensuretheLCDdisplayworkswellwithyourcomputer,configurethedisplaymode
ofyourgraphiccard,lessthanorequalto1024x768resolutionandmakesurethetimingof
thedisplaymodeiscompatiblewiththeLCDpanel.“VideoModes”ofthisLCDpanelarelisted
intheappendicesforyourreference.

HowtoUsetheOn‐ScreenDisplay(OSD)Menus
1. Pressthe“MENU”buttontopopupthe“on‐screenmenu”shownbelow.Thetiming
displaystheresolutionandhorizontal/verticalfrequencyofthedisplaywhiletheversion
displaysthecurrentfirmwareversioninstalledonthedisplay.
2. Pressthe“Right”or“Left”buttonstochangetheselecteditem.Pressthe“Menu”
buttontoopentheassociatedsub‐menuorthecontroltobeadjusted.
3. Adjustthevalueoftheadjustmentitemsbypressingthe“Right”or“Left”buttons.
4.
WiththeOSDmenuonscreen,pressthe“Exit”optiontoexitasub‐menuandreturnto
themainmenuortoexittheOSD.
Exit:ReturntothepreviousscreenorexitOSD.
5.
TheOSDmenuwillautomaticallycloseifleftidleforatime.
6.
TolocktheOSD/Keypadbuttons,pressthe“Menu”and“Right”keyssimultaneously.
The“KEYPADLOCK”confirmationscreenwilldisplayforthreeseconds.Whilethelock
isactivated,anykeypresswillresultinshowing“KEYPADLOCK”onthedisplay.
7. TounlocktheOSD/Keypadbuttons,pressthe“Menu”and“Right”keyssimultaneously.
The“KEYPADUNLOCKED”confirmationscreenwilldisplayforthreeseconds.

addition,theLCDdisplaywillentersleepmodewhenexperiencingasuddensignal
disconnectionproblem.Themonitorcanbere‐activatedbypressingthekeyboard,
triggeringthemouseortouchingthescreen.
OutofRange
Thismessagemeansthatthesignalofthecomputergraphiccardisnotcompatible
withtheLCDdisplay.Whenthesignalisnotincludedinthe“VideoModes”listwehave
listedintheAppendicesofthismanual,theLCDdisplaywilldisplaythismessage.
