or with the Planmeca Proline XC X-ray with Dimax3 system and Planmeca Dimaxis Pro and
Dimaxis Classic imaging softwares. This manual describes how to install and use the system.
Please read this manual carefully before installing and using the system. Refer also to the
Planmeca Intra and Planmeca Dixi3 digital intra X-ray unit’s and / or Planmeca Proline XC X-
ray with Dimax3 user’s and installation manual.
NOTE The Planmeca Intra X-ray or Prostyle Intra X-ray and Planmeca Proline XC as
well as Dimaxis software have separate manuals, which should be used in con-
junction with this manual.
NOTE The Planmeca Ethernet Interface must be located outside the patient area.

Installing the Intra sync cable
The sync cable synchronizes the exposure and receiving the image, i.e. detects the start of
the exposure. The sync cable is required when you want to store the exposure parameters
with the image.
It is also required when you want to use the Planmeca Intra control panel in the Dimaxis 4.0
software
Intraoral Exposure
window. The exposure parameters can be set in this window if
you are using the Planmeca Intra with updated software 3.0.3. The control panel logic is iden-
tical to that of the Planmeca Intra remote control.
If you are NOT connecting any other equipment to the Ethernet interface, use the Planet
grabber cable with one connector. In this case connect the interconnection cable from Dixi3 to
Port 1.
If you are using the Planet grabber cable with two connectors, note that the connectors are
numbered. If you connected the interconnection cable to port 1connector, you must connect
the 10m/male/female cable to the Planet connector number 1, and if you connected the inter-
connection cable to port 2connector, you must connect the 10m/male/female cable to the
Planet connector number 2.
Connect the 10m/male/female cable between the Planet connector on the generator box and
Planet grabber cable.
Installing the Dimaxis software
Install the Dimaxis Pro or Dimaxis Classic software to your computer in case it is not yet
installed (refer to Dimaxis Pro Installation manual, publication number 10006119, or Dimaxis
Classic Installation manual, publication number 10006182).

UPGRADING ETHERNET INTERFACE SOFTWARE
16 Planmeca Ethernet interface Installation manual
7 UPGRADING ETHERNET INTERFACE SOFTWARE
Required items:
- The file containing a new software version, for example dixibox1_4_2_0R.sr
- The loader software
- A cross connected Cat. 5 UTP cable to the computer or possibility to use 10.1.0.x IP
addresses in the local network
Upgrading the software
While the
Set
button is pressed and held with a sharp pin when the Planmeca Ethernet Box is
powered up, Ethernet Box will boot up using the 10.1.0.5 IP address and listen for a new soft-
ware on the network. To be able send data to that IP address on the local network, the Com-
puter IP address must be changed to 10.1.0.x, i.e. the computer must be in the same subnet
as the Ethernet box.
1. To change the computer’s IP address, select
Network Connections
from the Control
panel. Then double-click the Local Area Connection. The Local area connection status
window appears. Click Properties.
