Polaroid Spectra - Light Lock Close-Up Lens User manual

Light Lock Close-Up Lens
The Polaroid Light Lock Non-Contacting Close-Up Lens fits all
Polaroid Spectra cameras. The lens lets you take photographs
at 10 inches (25.4cm) without making contact with the object
being photographed.
The lens attaches easily and securely to the front of the
camera and lets you take pictures that are 50 percent the size
of the actual object (1/2 to 1).
There are two ways to
focus with the lens (a).
One is a system of
triangulating lights that
form a single spot when
the camera is at the
correct focus distance.
Because the single spot
is in the center of your
picture, you do not need
to look through the
viewfinder to frame your
picture. The other
focusing method is a
built-in 10-inch
measuring cord.
To attach the lens
1Open the camera. (Follow camera instructions.)
2Grasp the lens at the word "Polaroid." Fit the attachment
over the camera lens by placing the bottom of the battery
compartment onto the top of the camera.
As you attach
the lens, avoid
touching the
lenses or lights.
3Swing the
bottom of the
attachment in
toward the
camera lens (b)
until it snaps in
place.
Note: Always remove the lens before attempting to close
the camera.
To remove the lens
Grasp the lens at the word
"Polaroid" and gently pull
forward, tilting the top of
the lens down (c).
As you remove the lens,
avoid touching the lenses
or lights.
Choosing a focus method
You can focus accurately in either of two ways. For non-
contact focusing, use the triangulating lights. In brightly lit
areas where the focusing lights are not clearly visible, use the
measuring cord.
Using the triangulating lights
1Press the light-activating
button on top of the close-up
lens to turn on the focusing
lights (d). The button
activates the lights for about
15 seconds.
2Position the camera so the
two light beams form a single
spot on the subject (e)
While positioning the camera,
you do not need to look
through the viewfinder. The
light defines the center of the
area being photographed.
3When the green flash-ready
light on the camera is on,
press the shutter button to
take the picture.
Using the measuring cord
1Hold the camera with your left hand.
2Grasp the rubber knob
attached to the measuring
cord.
3Pull the measuring cord all the
way out, as far as it will go.
Place the rubber knob against
the object being photographed
(f). Release the cord without
moving the camera forward or
backward.
4Frame the picture in the view-
finder and press the shutter button.
Tips for best results
●Some parts of an object more than 2 inches (5cm) deep
may not appear in sharp focus.
●When using the measuring cord, do not move the camera
backward or forward. Use a tripod whenever possible.
●Photograph objects with reflective surfaces at an angle to
avoid flash reflection or find suitable lighting (sunlight, for
example) and turn the flash off.

To install batteries
The focusing lights on the close-up lens require two alkaline
AA batteries for operation. Replace the batteries when the
focusing lights become dim.
Note: Use only alkaline batteries.
1Open the battery compartment
door.
2Install the batteries as shown
in the compartment (g).
3Close the door and snap it into
place.
Care and handling
●When not using the close-up lens, keep it clean and
protected.
●Avoid touching any of the lenses. If you need to remove
dust or fingerprints from the lenses, breathe on them and
wipe gently with a soft, clean facial tissue. Do not use
silicone treated eyeglass tissues.
