TECHNICAL THINGS TO KNOW
Easy addition to either the Polycom VVX
500 or VVX 600 desktop phones
No software, drivers, or power is
required –its plug and play!
Supports up to 720p HD resolution
Works w/ SIP & H.323 standard
addresses.
An average video call utilizes about
600kb of bandwidth.
The VVX Camera can communicate with
any other VVX 500/600 phone that has a
camera installed.
The video image is uncompressed and
offers an “anti-flicker”feature.
The camera is always turned on unless
you close the privacy shutter.
TIPS & POINTERS
Place the phone 2-3 feet away from you.
Move the base of the phone to the
lowest of the 3 positions so that the
phone is as upright as possible.
Make sure that the area behind you is
not too bright.
INSTALLING THE CAMERA
Step 1: On the top of the
phone, remove the plastic
cover by sliding it up and
off the camera.
Step 3: Snap the camera
in place to ensure it is
firmly attached.
Step 2: Take the camera
and gently insert it into
the USB port, with the
lens facing out.
The camera is
mounted and
ready to go!
CONTROLLING THE CAMERA
To adjust the camera angle, carefully slide the adjustment
bar on the top of the camera. The display screen on your
phone will show you the view that others can see. Feel
free to do this anytime…even during a call.
With the slider in the down
position, the privacy Shutter is
open. Other users can view you!
Rotate the slider to the up position to
close the privacy Shutter. Other users
cannot see you!

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CAMERA
LED State

Camera shutter is closed
Flashes red and green, and
then turns off
Camera is booting up
Flashes amber and green
Camera firmware is updating
Flashes green
Incoming video call

One of the following:

Incoming call (no video or

Audio call is connected

Video is muted

Held call

Camera shutter is open, but
video is not enabled and
camera is not selected.
USING YOUR CAMERA
When you are on a call with a person that
has a video-enabled phone, your video
(the near side) displays in the PIP, and the
person you are talking with (the far side)
displays in the call window.
Tapping the Video soft key displays
other soft keys that allow you to:
Prevent the far side from seeing you
View video on the full screen
Swap the windows video displays
These buttons will both
start and stop the
transmission of your video.
This button expands the
view of the far side video.
This button switches the
far side and near images.
This image indicates that you
have stopped the far side from
seeing your video image.
This image indicates the far
side cannot see video.
This image indicates the
far side has stopped
sending video.
This button will return the
video to the default position.
screen.
You can choose to
display all video
calls as either
normal, full, or
cropped images.
1. Tap Settings from Home view, and tap Basic > Video > Video Screen Mode.
2. From the Video Screen Mode screen, tap, and then select from Normal, Full,
or Crop. The default setting is Normal.
3. Tap Save.

video calls are
displayed

access to camera controls.
