Notes:
Disconnect the external circuit of the relay to assure precision.
Do not block the ventilation outlets.
Avoid the equipment being wet by rain.
Do not switch-on and operate the equipment in the place having explosive gas or
water vapor
Put the kit in the transportation case after testing.
Please don’t remove the cover by yourself.
It should be connected grounded.

1. General
1.1 Introduction
PNS630 portable Analyzer was designed for smart substation maintenance.
IEC61850-8-1(Goose), IEC61850-9-2, IEC60044-7/8 messages can be monitored and
analyzed, digital relay test function also equipped. SMV, GOOSE message numerical
and status analysis were realized and displayed visually by its numerical analyzing
function. Message sending (IEC61850-9-2, IEC60044-8, GOOSE message) and
GOOSE subscribe function can meet the requirement of digital relay test. B code,
IEC61588 and optical power measurement are supported. Portable, stable, humanized
PNS630 is the effective device for smart substation maintenance.
1.2 Features
1) Support IEC 61850-9-2, IEC 60044-7/8 (FT3), GOOSE, IRIG-B and IEEE1588
standards.
2) Support SCD, ICD, CID files analysis to get sampling value, sampling channel and
GOOSE signal configuration.
3) Support SCD displayed in graphics.
4) Support SMV ang GOOSE monitor, and record the abnormal messages.
5) Support IEC60044-7/8 (FT3) receving and sending. The baud rates 2.5Mbps,
5Mbps, 10Mbps is available.
6) Support IEC 61850-9-2/9-2LE receiving and sending. ASDU 1-8 is available.
7) Support message monitor and record (PCAP format) for analysis.
8) Support network load analysis.
9) Support phase check.
10) Support IRIG-B and IEEE 1588 synchronization to provide time synchronization and
clock source.
11) Simulate MU to output IEC61850-9-2, IEC 60044-7/8 to test digital relays.
12) Support IED time delay and SOE test.
13) Support MU time delay test, synchronization and time test.
14) Support to output messages in different flow.
15) Support SMV in different status in maximum 10.

3. Panel description
3.1 Front panel
This is the PNS630 front panel. The keys and its functions are as below information.

2. Function keys: Each key has its own functions that are indicated in each module.
3. Direction keys: Choose the item required by control the keys.
4. Esc: Exit from the present testing or page.
5. Enter: Enter into the testing or page chosen.
6. Home Key: press it to go back to the main interface or screen shot
7. Power: On/Off

8. Power indicator: The indicator is on when PNS630 is power on.
9. Charge indicator: The indicator is on while charing. When it is charged full, it is off.

1. Optical Ethernet port 1-4: LC Rx port to send and receive IEC61850-9-2, GOOSE and IEEE1588.
2. Optical serial port TX1-2: ST port to send IEC60044-7/8 and IRIG-B code.

4. Operations
4.1 Power on/ Power off
Press power button to power on or power off.
4.2 Main interface
There are 12 modules: SMV, GOOSE, Quick Test, Sequence, Time, Net Flow, IED,
Waveform, Optical Power, Network, MU Delay and SCD visualization.
Press navigator key to change between modules.
Main interface
SMV: Receive SMV messages and display the analysis results in rms, waveform,
sequence, phase, power, phase-check, polarity, harmonic and real-time messages and
make a record on the drop-frame messages.
GOOSE: Receive GOOSE messages and show the real-time value, bit-change,
message record, monitor and test GOOSE sending mechanism.
Quick Test: Send SMV and GOOSE message, simulate MU to output IEC61850-9-2,
IEC60044-7/8(FT3), and GOOSE; Receive GOOSE or binary from test object to test the
relay test, MU or IED.

Sequence: Output SMV and GOOSE as prefault settings, receive the GOOSE or binary
sent by the test object, like relays, MU and IED.
Time: Show the IEEE1588, IRIG-B code or time source to send IRIG-B code.
Net flow: Monitor SMV, GOOSE, IEEE1588 and other types of messages’ quantity, flow
and percentage.
IED: Send GOOSE message and receive binary or send binary and receive GOOSE
message. Test IED delay or SOE.
Waveform: Detect and record the messages received.
Optical power: Show the real value, average value, max value and min value received
by each port.
Network: Control the present flow by sending SMV, GOOSE and network in each port
MU delay: Receive time signal, test MU time delay, time accuracy and synchronization
accuracy.

5. System
In the main interface, press “settings” or F1 to enter into the setting page to set PNS630.
Screen touches the setting item or press navigor button to swtich between different
settings to finish the setting information.
Press Esc to cancel or change the setting information.
5.1 Basic settings
In the setting page, choose “Settings” showing below to start settings.
System settings
Backlight time: Set the backlight time, PNS630 will be staying saver state without no
operation during the setting time.
Home: two choices are available, home and PrintScreen
Home: Press Home to get back to the main interface.
PrintScreen: Press Home button to get present screenshot and save it in the folder file
printscreen.
Time Zone: Set the correct time zone at site.
Optic port in: Screen touches or press Enter key to activate it.

6. Parameter
In the main interface, screen touches “Parameter” or press F8 to enter into the parameter
page.
There are SMV output, GOOSE publish, GOOSE subcribe and binary for option.
6.1 Parameter
In parameter, there is the configuration file, frequency, voltage, current channel and
primary/secondary value, time synchronization plan and message send method as
below.
Parameter
Import SCL: Select the SCL configuration file used in present station and touch Import
or press F2 to import.
Note: The SCL files should be saved in the SD card in advance.
Rated frequency Fn, voltage and current: the rated frequency, voltage and current
based to analyze the messages.
PT1-PT4: the default primary/ secondary voltage in four channels.

CT1-CT4: the default primary/ secondary current in four channels.
Note: The default voltage and current can be set according to the test IED.
Time method: +B code (IRIG-B positive), -B code (IRIG-B negative), IEEE1588
Send method: hold send option is available.
When it is chosen, the tester will keep SMV and GOOSE sending until the message
becomes 0.
When it is not chosen, all the messages will be stopped sending.
