seriouspersonalinjury.

YourPorschecomeswithtwoofeachofthe

andluggagecompartmentlockandfuelfiller
caplock.
Donotremovethekeyfromthesteering
lockwhileyouaredrivingorasthecaris
rollingtoa stop.Thesteeringcolumnis
lockedwhenyouremovethekey,andyou
willnotbeabletosteerthecar.
Becauseofthesymmetricalshapeofthekey
shaft,thereisno"wrong"wayofinsertingthe
keyinthelocks.
Thenewformatofthemasterandauxiliary
keysmakesunauthorizedduplicationofthe
keysvirtuallyimpossible.Thismeans,how-
ever,thatyouyourselfwillnotbeabletoget
replacementkeyscut,unlessorderedfrom
themanufacturer.
Forvehiclesequippedwithlockablewheelnuts,
fouridenticalkeys,fourwheelnutswithlock
sleeve,plusa standardwheelnutforthespare
wheel,areincluded.Whentakingthevehicle
toyourPorschedealerortoa workshopfor
wheelortireservice,remembertoleaveone
keywiththeserviceattendant.
Incaseofloss,duplicatekeyscannotbe
furnishedbyyourPorschedealer.Donot
leavethesekeysinthevehicle.Keepthem
ina safeplace.

Keynumber
Thekeynumberoftheignitionkeyisim-
pressedona plastictagwhichcomeswiththe
keys.Detachthistagandkeepitinasafeplace.
Foryourprotectionagainsttheft:
•Recordthekeynumbersandkeepthemin
asafeplace,suchasyourwallet.Donot
keeptheminthevehicle.
•Ifyoushouldlosea key,provideyour
Porschedealerwiththekeynumbertoob-
taina duplicatekey.Tellhimwhetheryou
needa masteroranauxiliarykey.
Keylight
Onemasterkeyhasa built-inflashlightinthe
keyhead.Thebeamfroma smallbulbinthe
keyheadilluminatesthelowerpartofthekey
stem.
Theflashlightisonaslongasthecontactbut-
tonisdepressed.
Theflashlightispoweredbya 1.5Voltbutton
battery.Whenthebeambeginstofade,re-
placethebattery,becauseanoldbattery
mayleakanddamageyourclothes.

FunctionsforbothS-keyandauxiliarykeyare
lockingoperations.
Attemptingtoopenthedoors,therearlidor
theenginehoodbyanyothermeansorturning
ontheignitionwhenthealarmsystemisacti-
vatedwillproduceanintermittenthighnoise
forabout30seconds.
Theenginecannotbestartedwhilethe
alarmsystemisactivated.
KeeptheS-keyinyourpersonalpossession
atalltimes.Leavetheauxiliarykeyonlywith
anattendantwhenthecarisbeingserviced.
Keepplastictagwithkeynumberina safe
place.Donotleaveitinthevehicle.

Centraldoorlockingsystem
Thecentraldoorlockingsystemenablesyou
tolockorunlockbothdoorssimultaneously
byoperatingonedoorlock.
Thecentraldoorlockingsystemfunctions
onlywhenbothdoorsarefullyclosed.Ifone
dooris"centrally"lockedbeforetheother
doorisfullyclosed,the"centrally"lockeddoor
willunlockautomatically.
Alwaysdrivewithlockeddoorstoprevent
inadvertentopeningofa doorfromthein-
side,especiallywithsmallchildreninthe
car.
Thecarissafelylockedwhenlockingknob"A"
isfullydownonbothdoors.Iflockingknob"A"
isnotfullydownononedoor,openthatdoor
again,closeitfirmlyandrepeatthelocking
operation.
Ona centrallylockedvehicle,thepassenger
doorcanalsobeunlockedandlockedfrom
insidebyturninglockingknob"B".Locking
knob"B"isoperationalonlywithdoorfully
closed.
WiththeignitionkeyinPos."1"or"2"both
doorscanbelockedorunlockedbypressing
thecentrallockingbuttoninthecentercon-
sole.Thebuttonisilluminatedwhenthedoors
arelocked.
WiththeignitionkeyinPos."0"thecentral
lockingsystemisoperationalbyturningknob
"B".

Thepowerwindowsonlyworkwhentheigni-
tionisturnedon.
WARNING
Donotputanythingonornearthewin-
dowsthatmayinterferewiththedriver's
vision.
Removetheignitionkeytoshutoffpower
tothewindowswitcheswhenthevehicle
isnotattendedbya responsibleperson.

andthebackrestanglesinyourPorscheare
fullyadjustable.
WARNING

motion.Theseatmaymoveunexpectedly
whichcouldcausesuddenlossofvehicle
controlorpersonalinjury.
Electricallyoperatedseats
Therockerswitchesfora smooththree-way
seatadjustmentarelocatedattheoutboard
sideoftheseat.
Note:
Beforeoperatingtheswitches,tiltthesafety
beltbuckleatinboardsideofseatoutofthe
waytopreventthebucklefromgettingsqueezed
inbetweenseatcushionandbackrest,which
coulddamagebothbuckleandseatcover.
Manualoperation
Iftheelectricmechanismfails,theseatcan
bemovedforwardorbackwardbypushing
thelockingleverunderthefrontoftheseat
towardoutboardsideofseat.Slidetheseatto
thedesiredpositionandletthelevergo.Move
theseatslightlybackandforthtomakesureit
issecurelyengaged.

Tomovetheseatforwardorbackward,pull
thelockingleveratthefrontoftheseatup.
Nowslidetheseattothedesiredposition.Let
thelevergo,andmovetheseatslightlyback
andforthtomakesureitissecurelyengaged.
WARNING
Forpassengerprotection,backrestlocks
mustbeengagedatalltimeswhiletheve-
hicleisinmotion.
Backrestrelease
Thebackrestcanbefoldedforwardforeasy
accesstotherearseats.Torelease,pressthe
lockingbuttononthesideofthebackrest(ar-
row)and,atthesametime,tiltthebackrest
forward.Whenthebackrestistiltedback,the
lockwillengageautomatically.
Backrestadjustment
Turnhandwheelontheoutboardsideofthe
seat(arrows),withyourbodyweighttakenoff
theseatback.
WARNING
Frontseatpassengersshouldnotrideina
movingvehiclewiththebackrestreclined.
Safetybeltsonlyofferprotectionwhenthe
backrestisuprightandthebeltsareprop-
erlypositionedonthebody.Improperly
positionedsafetybeltscancauseserious
personalinjuryinanaccident.

Formaximumlegroomandunobstructedview
oftheinstruments,theheightofthesteering

Toreleasebackrest,pulltheleveronsideof
thebackrestupand,atthesametime,tiltthe
backrestforward.

Rearviewmirrors
Adjusttheoutsideandinsidemirrorsbe-
foredrivingoff.Itisimportantforsafedriv-
ingthatyouhavegoodvisiontotherear.
Donotputdecalsorothersignsonthewin-
dowsthatmayinterferewiththedriver's
vision.
Insideday-nightmirror
Youcanadjusttheday-nightmirrorfromclear
daylightvisibilitytonon-glarevisibilityatnight,
bymovingtheleveratthebottomofthemirror
forwardorrearward.
Heatedoutsidemirrorswithremotecontrol
Whentherearwindowdefogger/defrosteris
switchedon,theoutsidemirrorsarealsoheat-
edelectrically.Theoutsidemirrorscanbead-
justedfromtheinsidebyremotecontrolwhen
theignitionisturnedon.Thecontrolswitchis
locatednexttothesidewindowventsinthe
armrest.
Theelectricallyheatedoutsidemirrorforthe
passengersidecanbeadjustedwiththesame
controlswitch,bypressingtherockerswitch
besidetheadjusterswitchintotheappropriate
