Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling,
and other construction activities contains chemicals known (to the
State of California) to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some

It is important for you to read and understand this manual. The
information it contains relates to protecting YOUR SAFETY and
PREVENTING PROBLEMS. The symbols below are used to help
you recognize this information.

Read all instructions. Failure to follow all
instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury. The term "power tool" in all of the warnings listed
below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or
battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
GENERAL SAFETY RULES

1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the
presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create
sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any
way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power
tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric
shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as
pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of
electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a
power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or
unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp
edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk
of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord
suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces
the risk of electric shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when
operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired
or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal
injury.
b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment
such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection
used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position
before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch
or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool
on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool
may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This
enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your
hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes,
jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and
collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used.
Use of these devices can reduce dust-related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your
application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the
rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any
adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such
preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool
accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow
persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to
operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the
power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired
before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power
tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools
with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance
with these instructions and in the manner intended for the
particular type of power tool, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for
operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous
situation.
5) Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only
identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.

ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
1. Hold power tools by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an
operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own
cord. Contact with a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool
"live" and shock the operator.
2. Always disconnect the sander cord plug from the power circuit before
changing abrasive sheets. Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
3. Use proper safety equipment. Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes
and wear a protective mask to minimize breathing in the fine dust created
while sanding.
4. Sanding of lead-based paint is not recommend. Lead-based paint should
only be removed by a professional.
5. Wear eye and hearing protection. Always use safety glasses. Everyday
eyeglasses are NOT safety glasses. USE CERTIFIED SAFETY EQUIPMENT.
Eye protection equipment should comply with ANSI Z87.1 standards.
Hearing equipment should comply with ANSI S3.19 standards.
6. Use of this tool can generate and disburse dust or other
airborne particles, including wood dust, crystalline silica dust and
asbestos dust. Direct particles away from face and body. Always operate
tool in well ventilated area and provide for proper dust removal. Use dust
collection system wherever possible. Exposure to the dust may cause
serious and permanent respiratory or other injury, including silicosis (a
serious lung disease), cancer, and death. Avoid breathing the dust, and
avoid prolonged contact with dust. Allowing dust to get into your mouth or
eyes, or lay on your skin may promote absorption of harmful material.
Always use properly fitting NIOSH/OSHA approved respiratory protection
appropriate for the dust exposure, and wash exposed areas with soap and
water.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR PAINT REMOVAL
Extreme care should be taken when removing paint. The
peelings, residue, and vapors of paint may contain lead, which
is poisonous. Exposure to even low levels of lead can cause
irreversible brain and nervous system damage. Young and
unborn children are particularly vulnerable.
Before beginning any paint removal process you should determine whether the
paint you are removing contains lead. This can be done by your local health
department or by a professional who uses a paint analyzer to check for lead.
Lead-based paint should only be removed by a professional.
Persons removing paint should follow these guidelines:
1. Keep the work area well ventilated. Open the windows and put an
exhaust fan in one of them. Be sure the fan is moving air from inside to outside.
2. Remove or cover any carpets, rugs, furniture, clothing, cooking
utensils, and air ducts. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
exposure.
3. Place drop cloths in the work area to catch any paint chips or peelings.
Wear protective clothing such as extra work shirts, overalls and hats.

4. Work in one room at a time. Furnishings should be removed or placed in
the center of the room and covered. Work areas should be sealed off from the
rest of the dwelling by sealing doorways with drop cloths.
5. Children, pregnant, or potentially pregnant women and nursing mothers
should not be present in the work area until the work is done and all
cleanup is complete. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
injury.
6. Wear a dust respirator or a dual filter (dust and fume) respirator mask
which has been approved by the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA), the National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH),
or the United States Bureau of Mines. These masks and replaceable filters are
readily available at major hardware stores. Be sure the mask fits. Beards and
facial hair may keep the masks from sealing properly. Change filters often.
DISPOSABLE PAPER MASKS ARE NOT ADEQUATE.
7. Keep food and drink out of the work area. Wash hands, arms, and face
and rinse mouth before eating or drinking. Do not smoke or chew gum or
tobacco in the work area.
8. Clean up all removed paint and dust by wet mopping the floors. Use a
wet cloth to clean all walls, sills and any other surfaces where paint or dust is
clinging. DO NOT SWEEP, DRY DUST OR VACUUM. Use a high phosphate
detergent or trisodium (TSP) to wash and mop areas.
9. At the end of each work session, put the paint chips and debris in a
double plastic bag, close it with tape or twist ties and dispose properly.
Such
preventive safety measures reduce the risk of exposure.
10. Remove protective clothing and work shoes in the work area to avoid
carrying dust into the rest of the dwelling. Wash work clothes separately. Wipe
shoes off with a wet rag, then wash that rag with the work clothes. Wash hair and
body thoroughly with soap and water.

If an extension cord is used, make sure the conductor size is large enough to
prevent excessive voltage drop which will cause loss of power and possible
motor damage. A table of recommended extension cord sizes will be found in
this section. This table is based on limiting line voltage drop to 5 volts (10 volts
for 230 volts) at 150% of rated amperes.
If an extension cord is to be used outdoors it must be marked with the suffix W-A
or W following the cord type designation. For example – SJTW-A to indicate it is
acceptable for outdoor use.

EXTENSION CORD SELECTION
MOTOR
Many Porter-Cable tools will operate on either D.C., or single phase 25 to 60
cycle A.C. current and voltage within plus or minus 5 percent of that shown on
the specification plate on the tool. Several models, however, are designed for
A.C. current only. Refer to the specification plate on your tool for proper voltage
and current rating.
Do not operate your tool on a current on which the voltage is not
within correct limits. Do not operate tools rated A.C. only on D.C.
current. To do so may seriously damage the tool.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
FOREWORD
Your Porter-Cable Finishing Sander is equipped to accept Stikit™ adhesive
backed abrasives (41/2" width) or conventional abrasive sheets (41/2" x 51/2").
This Sander is suitable for coarse, medium or fine sanding of wood, plaster,
metal and plastics. It is ideal for leveling wallboard joints, finishing cabinets,
rubbing and polishing furniture, fitting screens and doors and for general
finishing work in the shop.
SELECTING THE RIGHT ABRASIVE SHEET
By selecting the proper type of abrasive, the finest finishes can be attained. In
general, coarser grit sizes will remove the most material and finer grit sizes will
produce the best finishes.
Naturally, in all sanding operations, best results will be obtained if you select the
proper size and type of abrasives. Only garnet, aluminum oxide and silicon
carbide are recommended for use with finishing sanders. Flint paper is not
satisfactory for machine sanding, due to its weak structure.
Before starting to work, make sure you have the right abrasive for the material on
which the sander is to be used. Make sure you use the correct size abrasive
paper or cloth. Cut, do not tear, the abrasive sheets to size.
ASSEMBLY
ATTACHING STIKIT™ ABRASIVE
Stikit™ abrasives (ten yard rolls) and a convenient dispenser are available from
your Porter-Cable distributor.
To install Stikit™ abrasive, cut a 41/8" long piece of abrasive from roll, align
abrasive with sander pad and press in place as shown in Fig. 1.
To remove, lift one corner of abrasive with fingernail and peel off.
ATTACHING CONVENTIONAL ABRASIVE
Disconnect tool from power source.
1. Insert small end of wrench, furnished with sander, into slot (A), Fig. 2, with
hump of the wrench in up position, and press wrench toward sander housing to
open clamp.
2. Slip one end of abrasive sheet under clamp, stretch sheet tight over pad,
open rear clamp with wrench and slip free end of abrasive sheet under rear
clamp.
ABRASIVE ATTACHMENT TOOL IS REQUIRED- Wrench (furnished)
NOTE: This tool is shipped completely assembled. No assembly time or
tools are required.

TO START AND STOP SANDER
Make sure switch (A), Fig. 3, is in “OFF” position.
1. Make sure power source voltage is the same as specified on the
sander’s specification plate.
2. Insert cord plug into power source outlet.
3. While holding sander firmly and off of work surface, slide switch (A), Fig.
3, to the “ON” position.
4. Allow sander to reach full speed. Set it down on the work evenly and
move it slowly back and forth in wide overlapping arcs (see SANDING
PROCEDURE section of this manual).
5. When you are finished sanding, lift sander up off work and slide switch
(A), Fig. 3, to the “OFF” position to stop sander.
SANDING PROCEDURE
The Porter-Cable Finishing Sander has
been designed for one-hand operation (Fig.
3). Because it is light in weight, vibration-
free and perfectly balanced, the sander
can be easily guided over the work surface
with one hand. The normal weight of the
machine is sufficient for efficient sanding.
Do not put additional pressure on the
machine. This would only slow down the
speed of the pad, reducing the sanding
efficiency and put an additional burden on
the motor. In addition, it might cause the
sander to jump on the work. Let the sander
do the work.

FINE FINISHING
The action of the Porter-Cable Finishing Sander causes thousands of tiny
abrasive grits to move in circular orbits against the work at high speed. Each
grain moves in the same direction at a constant speed so the cutting action is
uniform over the entire pad surface. Crossing and re-crossing of the abrasive
grits from all directions quickly levels surface irregularities to a fine, uniform
smoothness. Start the work with an abrasive grit just coarse enough to remove
the high spots and excessive roughness. Follow with a second sanding using a
grit one or two grades finer. Continue with successively finer grits until the
desired finish is obtained. DO NOT GO FROM A COARSE GRIT TO A VERY FINE
GRIT IN ONE STEP.
Going from a coarse grit to a very fine grit in one step could make it difficult to
remove swirl marks that might have been made by the coarse grit abrasive. Use
the finest grits practical for the roughing operation and then finish by using
successively finer grits.
REMOVING PAINT AND VARNISH
Read and follow all instructions in the ADDITIONAL
SAFETY RULES FOR PAINT REMOVAL section of this manual.
Your sander will do a good job of removing old paint and varnish if two
precautions are taken. First, be sure to use a coarse, open coat abrasive to avoid
the usual clogging of the abrasive surfaces. Second keep the machine moving
over new areas to avoid heating and softening the material being removed. Try
to work the entire surface down at the same time by working in wide,
overlapping arcs. Do not concentrate on small areas. If liquid removers or
heaters are used to speed the work, be sure the surface is cool and dry and the
excess material has been scraped away with a putty knife or other suitable
scraping tool before applying the sander.
CABINETS AND DOORS
The orbital motion of the Porter-Cable Finishing Sander is ideally suited for
finishing doors, cabinet fronts and other installations where wood grain is often
perpendicular to that of a joining piece. Since the motion is circular, the machine
may be moved in any direction and crossed from one part to the other without
regard to direction of grain. A uniform and smooth finish will result on both parts.
The same procedure may be used when evening joints in all types of cabinet
work. The sander may be worked on both sides and in all directions to obtain a
smooth, matching joint. By properly changing from coarser to finer grit abrasives,
an excellent finish will result.
RUBBING AND POLISHING
The finishing sander is excellent for all types of polishing and rubbing on flat or
round surfaces. Felt rubbing pads, available as accessory equipment can be
quickly attached for rubbing operations. With it, metal parts, enameled surfaces
and woodwork may be polished. Use rouge or paste wax for polishing with the
finishing sander.

KEEP TOOL CLEAN
Periodically blow out all air passages with dry compressed air. All plastic parts
should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. NEVER use solvents to clean plastic
parts. They could possibly dissolve or otherwise damage the material.
Wear ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses while using compressed air.
FAILURE TO START
Should your tool fail to start, check to make sure the prongs on the cord plug are
making good contact in the outlet. Also, check for blown fuses or open circuit
breakers in the line.
LUBRICATION
This tool has been lubricated with a sufficient amount of high grade lubricant for
the life of the unit under normal operating conditions. No further lubrication is
necessary.
BRUSH INSPECTION (If applicable)
For your continued safety and electrical protection, brush inspection and
replacement on this tool should ONLY be performed by an AUTHORIZED
PORTER-CABLE SERVICE STATION or a PORTER-CABLE•DELTA FACTORY
SERVICE CENTER.
At approximately 100 hours of use, take or send your tool to your nearest
authorized Porter-Cable Service Station to be thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
Have worn parts replaced and lubricated with fresh lubricant. Have new brushes
installed, and test the tool for performance.
Any loss of power before the above maintenance check may indicate the need
for immediate servicing of your tool. DO NOT CONTINUE TO OPERATE TOOL
UNDER THIS CONDITION. If proper operating voltage is present, return your tool
to the service station for immediate service.

Porter-Cable warrants its Professional Power Tools for a period of one year from the date of original
purchase. We will repair or replace at our option, any part or parts of the product and accessories
covered under this warranty which, after examination, proves to be defective in workmanship or
material during the warranty period. For repair or replacement return the complete tool or accessory,
transportation prepaid, to your nearest Porter-Cable Service Center or Authorized Service Station.
Proof of purchase may be required. This warranty does not apply to repair or replacement required
due to misuse, abuse, normal wear and tear or repairs attempted or made by other than our Service
Centers or Authorized Service Stations.

Algunos tipos de aserrín creados por máquinas eléctricas de
lijado, aserrado, amolado, perforado u otras actividades de la construcción,
contienen materiales químicos conocidos (en el Estado de California) como
causantes de cáncer, defectos de nacimiento u otros daños del aparato
reproductivo. Algunos ejemplos de dichos productos químicos son:
●El plomo contenido en algunas pinturas con base de plomo
●Sílice cristalizado proveniente de los ladrillos, el cemento y otros

●Arsénico y cromo de madera tratada químicamente
Su riesgo por causa de estas exposiciones varía, dependiendo de con cuánta
frecuencia realice este tipo de trabajo. Para reducir su exposición a estos
agentes químicos: trabaje en un área bien ventilada y trabaje con equipo de
seguridad aprobado, use siempre protección facial o respirador NIOSH/OSHA
aprobados cuando deba utilizar dichas herramientas.

Lea todas las instrucciones. Si no se siguen todas
las instrucciones que aparecen a continuación, el resultado podría ser
sacudidas eléctricas, incendio y/o lesiones graves. La expresión
"herramienta mecánica" en todas las advertencias que aparecen a
continuación se refiere a su herramienta mecánica alimentada por la
red eléctrica (herramienta alámbrica) o su herramienta mecánica
alimentada por baterías (herramienta inalámbrica).
1) Seguridad del área de trabajo
a)Mantenga el área de trabajo limpia y bien iluminada. Las áreas
desordenadas u oscuras invitan a que se produzcan accidentes.
b)No utilice herramientas mecánicas en atmósferas explosivas, como
por ejemplo en presencia de líquidos, gases o polvos inflamables.
Las herramientas mecánicas generan chispas que pueden incendiar el
polvo o los vapores.
c)Mantenga alejados a los niños y a las personas que estén presentes
mientras esté utilizando una herramienta mecánica. Las distracciones
pueden hacerle perder el control de la herramienta.
2) Seguridad eléctrica
a)Los enchufes de las herramientas mecánicas deben coincidir con el
tomacorriente. No modifique nunca el enchufe de ningún modo. No
use enchufes adaptadores con herramientas mecánicas conectadas
a tierra (puestas a tierra). Los enchufes no modificados y los
tomacorrientes coincidentes reducirán el riesgo de sacudidas eléctricas.
b)Evite el contacto del cuerpo con las superficies conectadas o
puestas a tierra, tales como tuberías, radiadores, estufas y
refrigeradores. Hay un aumento del riesgo de sacudidas eléctricas si el
cuerpo del operador se conecta o pone a tierra.
c)No exponga las herramientas mecánicas a la lluvia o a condiciones
mojadas. La entrada de agua en una herramienta mecánica aumentará el
riesgo de que se produzcan sacudidas eléctricas.
d)No maltrate el cordón de energía. No use nunca el cordón para
transportar la herramienta mecánica, tirar de ella o desenchufarla.
Mantenga el cordón alejado del calor, el aceite, los bordes afilados o
las piezas móviles. Los cordones dañados o enganchados aumentan el
riesgo de que se produzcan sacudidas eléctricas.
e)Cuando utilice una herramienta mecánica en el exterior, use un
cordón de extensión adecuado para uso a la intemperie. La utilización
de un cordón adecuado para uso a la intemperie reduce el riesgo de que
se produzcan sacudidas eléctricas.
3) Seguridad personal
a)Manténgase alerta, fíjese en lo que está haciendo y use el sentido
común cuando esté utilizando una herramienta mecánica. No use
una herramienta mecánica cuando esté cansado o bajo la influencia
de drogas, alcohol o medicamentos. Un momento de distracción
mientras esté utilizando herramientas mecánicas podría causar
lesiones corporales graves.
b)Use equipo de seguridad. Use siempre protección de los ojos. El
equipo de seguridad, como por ejemplo una máscara antipolvo,
calzado de seguridad antideslizante, casco o protección de oídos,
utilizado para las condiciones apropiadas, reducirá las lesiones
corporales.
c)Evite el arranque accidental. Asegúrese de que el interruptor esté en
la posición de apagado antes de enchufar la herramienta. Si se
transportan herramientas mecánicas con el dedo en el interruptor o
se enchufan herramientas mecánicas que tengan el interruptor en la
posición de encendido, se invita a que se produzcan accidentes.

d)Quite todas las llaves de ajuste o de tuerca antes de encender la
herramienta mecánica. Una llave de tuerca o de ajuste que se deje
colocada en una pieza giratoria de la herramienta mecánica podría
causar lesiones corporales.
e)No intente alcanzar demasiado lejos. Mantenga un apoyo de los pies
y un equilibrio apropiados en todo momento. Esto permite controlar
mejor la herramienta mecánica en situaciones inesperadas.
f) Vístase adecuadamente. No use ropa holgada ni alhajas holgadas.
Mantenga el pelo, la ropa y los guantes alejados de las piezas
móviles. La ropa holgada, las alhajas holgadas o el pelo largo
pueden quedar atrapados en las piezas móviles.
g)Si se proporcionan dispositivos para la conexión de instalaciones de
extracción y recolección de polvo, asegúrese de que dichas
instalaciones estén conectadas y se usen correctamente. El uso de
estos dispositivos puede reducir los peligros relacionados con el
polvo.
4) Uso y cuidado de las herramientas mecánicas
a)No fuerce la herramienta mecánica. Use la herramienta mecánica
correcta para la aplicación que desee realizar. La herramienta
mecánica correcta hará el trabajo mejor y con más seguridad a la
capacidad nominal para la que fue diseñada.
b)No use la herramienta mecánica si el interruptor no la enciende y
apaga. Toda herramienta mecánica que no se pueda controlar con el
interruptor es peligrosa y debe ser reparada.
c)Desconecte el enchufe de la fuente de energía antes de hacer
cualquier ajuste, cambiar accesorios o almacenar herramientas
mecánicas. Dichas medidas preventivas de seguridad reducen el
riesgo de arrancar accidentalmente la herramienta mecánica.
d)Guarde las herramientas que no esté usando fuera del alcance de los
niños y no deje que personas que no estén familiarizadas con la
herramienta mecánica o con estas instrucciones utilicen la
herramienta. Las herramientas mecánicas son peligrosas en manos
de usuarios que no hayan recibido capacitación.
e)Mantenga las herramientas mecánicas. Compruebe si hay piezas
móviles desalineadas o que se atoran, si hay piezas rotas y si existe
cualquier otra situación que podría afectar el funcionamiento de la
herramienta mecánica. Si la herramienta mecánica está dañada,
haga que la reparen antes de usarla. Muchos accidentes son
causados por herramientas mecánicas mantenidas deficientemente.
f) Mantenga las herramientas de corte afiladas y limpias. Es menos
probable que las herramientas de corte mantenidas apropiadamente,
con bordes de corte afilados, se atoren, y dichas herramientas son
más fáciles de controlar.
g)Use la herramienta mecánica, los accesorios, las brocas de la
herramienta, etc., de acuerdo con estas instrucciones y de la manera
prevista para el tipo específico de herramienta mecánica, teniendo
en cuenta las condiciones de trabajo y el trabajo que se vaya a
realizar. El uso de la herramienta mecánica para operaciones
distintas a aquéllas para las que fue diseñada podría causar una
situación peligrosa.
5) Servicio de ajustes y reparaciones
a)Haga que su herramienta mecánica reciba servicio de un técnico de
reparaciones calificado, utilizando únicamente piezas de repuesto
idénticas. Esto asegurará que se mantenga la seguridad de la
herramienta mecánica.

NORMAS ESPECÍFICAS DE SEGURIDAD
1. Detenga la herramientas por las superficies aisladas para hacer una
operación donde el cuchillo de la herramienta pueda tocar un alambre
escondido o su propio cable. El contacto con un alambre cargado «vivo»
también cargará a las partes metálicas y le dará un choque al usuario.
2. Siempre desconecte la lijadora de la fuente de electricidad antes de
cambiar discos abrasivos. Tales medidas impeditivas de la seguridad
reducen el riesgo de empezar el instrumento del poder accidentalmente.
3. Use mascara contra polvo. Póngase una máscara protectora para prevenir
la inhalación de polvo fino.
4. No se recomienda lijar pintura con base de plomo. Pintura que contiene
plomo debe ser quitada solamente por profesionales.
5. Lleve la protección de ojo y oído. Siempre utilice gafas de seguridad.
Los lentes diarios no son gafas de seguridad. El USO CERTIFICO el EQUIPO
de la SEGURIDAD. El equipo de la protección del ojo debe conformarse con
los estándares de ANSI Z87.1. El equipo de la vista debe conformarse con
los estándares de ANSI S3.19.
6. El uso de esta herramienta puede generar y
dispersar polvo u otras partículas suspendidas en el aire, incluyendo
polvo de madera, polvo de sílice cristalina y polvo de asbesto. Dirija las
partículas de modo que se alejen de la cara y del cuerpo. Utilice siempre la
herramienta en un área bien ventilada y proporcione un medio apropiado
de remoción de polvo. Use un sistema de recolección de polvo en todos
los lugares donde sea posible. La exposición al polvo puede causar
lesiones respiratorias graves y permanentes u otras lesiones graves y
permanentes, incluyendo silicosis (una enfermedad pulmonar grave),
cáncer y muerte. Evite aspirar el polvo y evite el contacto prolongado con
el polvo. Si se permite que el polvo entre en la boca o en los ojos, o que se
deposite en la piel, se puede promover la absorción de material nocivo.
Use siempre protección respiratoria aprobada por NIOSH/OSHA que se
ajuste apropiadamente y sea adecuada para la exposición al polvo, y
lávese las áreas expuestas con agua y jabón.
