CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING
WARNING! Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide gas - never start or run this engine indoors.
Opening windows and doors is not enough to ventilate the area.
Carbon monoxide is a colourless and odourless gas that is difficult to detect. Carbon monoxide poisoning results
from inhalation of the gas and may be lethal if left untreated. Evacuate all people to an area with clean air and seek
immediate medical attention for any person experiencing the following symptoms:
1. Headache
2. Confusion
3. Shortness of breath
4. Weakness
5. Fatigue
6. Dizziness
7. Unstable gait (stumbling around)
8. Nausea & vomiting
9. Unconsciousness
10. Flu-like symptoms
NOTE: As a precaution, install a carbon monoxide detector in any work area that has gasoline-powered equipment.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Disconnect power supply. Disconnect the tool from the power supply when not in use, before cleaning,
servicing or changing any parts or accessories.
2. Protect yourself against electrical shock when working on electric equipment. Avoid body contact with
grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cooking stoves and refrigerators. There is an increased
chance of electrical shock if your body is grounded.
3. Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other.) This plug will
fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fully fit in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still
does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
Double insulation eliminates the need for a three-wire grounded power cord and grounded power
supply system.
4. Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with
all codes and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use
any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly
grounded. If the tool should electronically malfunction or break down, grounding provides a low resistance
path to carry electricity away from the user.

8254146 V 3.04
5. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord to carry tools or to pull the plug from an outlet. Keep the cord
away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Do not operate this tool if the power cord is frayed or
damaged. Immediately replace damaged cords. Damaged cords increase the risk of electrical shock. Do
not modify the plug in any way.
6. When operating a power tool outside, use an outdoor extension cord marked "W-A” or "W”. These cords
are rated for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electrical shock. Use in conjunction with a Ground Fault
Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, the use of a GFCI
reduces the risk of electrical shock. It is recommended that the GFCI should have a rated residual current
of 30 mA or less.
7. Avoid using an unnecessarily long extension cord. Choose a cord that is appropriate for the situation. A
cord that is too long and running across the floor can be more dangerous than helpful. Using a cord that is
too long or too thin could damage the tool. Unroll the cord completely to prevent it from overheating.
8. Place the electrical cord in a position that prevents it from coming into contact with the tool and from
getting caught by the work piece. The cord should always stay behind the tool.
BATTERY PRECAUTIONS
1. Keep the battery away from fire and sparks. Reinforce the grounding and down-lead.
2. The battery contains strong acid. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. If contact occurs, immediately wash
skin or flush eyes with water. If serious injury occurs, seek medical attention.
3. To prevent damage, avoid spilling gasoline, oil, or organic material on the battery.
USE AND CARE
1. This generator was designed for a specific function. Do not modify or alter this generator or use it for an
unintended purpose.
a. Do not tamper with the governor spring, the links, or any other parts in an attempt to increase the
engine’s speed.
2. Maintain the engine with care (see Maintenance).
3. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches from the engine before operation. A wrench or key that is left
attached to a rotating part of the tool increases the risk of personal injury.
UNPACKING

OPERATION
CONNECTIONS TO A BUILDING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
A qualified electrician must perform connections for standby power to a building's electrical system. The
connection must isolate the generator power from the utility power, and must comply with all applicable laws and
electrical codes. A transfer switch, which isolates generator power from utility power, is required.
WARNING! Improper connections to a building's electrical system can allow electrical current from the
generator to back feed into the utility lines. Such back feed may electrocute utility company workers or others
who contact the lines during a power outage, and the generator may explode, burn, or cause fires when utility
power is restored. Consult the utility company or a qualified electrician.
GROUND SYSTEM
The portable generator has a system ground that connects the generator frame components to the ground
terminals in the AC output receptacles. The system ground is not connected to the AC neutral wire.
AC APPLICATIONS
Before connecting an appliance or power cord to the generator:
1. Make sure that it is in good working order. Faulty appliances or power cords can create the potential for
electrical shock.
2. If an appliance operates abnormally, becomes sluggish, or stops suddenly, immediately turn off the
appliance. Disconnect the appliance and determine whether the problem is with the appliance, or if the
rated load capacity of the generator has been exceeded.
3. Make sure that the electrical rating of the tool or appliance does not exceed the rating of the generator.
Never exceed the maximum power rating of the generator. Do not operate a tool or an appliance at the
maximum power rating for more than 30 minutes at a time.
WARNING! Substantial overloading will open the circuit breaker. Exceeding the maximum-power time limit or
slightly overloading the generator may not switch OFF the circuit breaker, but it may shorten the service life of
your generator.
AC OPERATION
1. Start the engine.
2. Switch ON the AC circuit breaker.
3. Plug in the appliance.
Most motorized appliances require more than their rated power for startup. Do not exceed the current limit
specified for any one receptacle. If an overloaded circuit causes the AC circuit breaker or AC circuit protector to
switch OFF, reduce the electrical load on the circuit, wait a few minutes, and then reset the AC circuit breaker or the
AC circuit protector.
HIGH ALTITUDE OPERATION
At high altitude, the standard carburetor air / fuel mixture will be too rich. Performance will decrease, and
fuel consumption will increase. A very rich mixture will also foul the spark plug and cause hard starting. High
altitude operation may also increase emissions; however, high altitude performance can be improved by specific
carburetor modifications. If you always operate your generator at altitudes above 5,000 feet (1,500 metres), have
a qualified service technician perform these carburetor modifications. The engine will continue to meet emission
standards once the modifications have been performed; however, engine horsepower will decrease 3.5% for
every 1,000 feet (300 metres) of altitude. Altitude will have an even greater effect on horsepower if the
carburetor modifications are not performed.

6,500W Gasoline Generator
12 For technical questions call 1-800-665-8685
V 3.04 8254146
WARNING! When the carburetor has been modified for high altitude operation, the air / fuel mixture will be too
lean for low altitude use. Operation at altitudes below 5,000 feet (1,500 metres) with a modified carburetor
may cause the engine to overheat and result in serious engine damage.
MAINTENANCE
Proper maintenance is essential for safe, economical, and trouble-free operation. It will also help to reduce
air pollution.
WARNING! Improper maintenance, or failure to correct a problem before operation, can cause a malfunction
in which you can be seriously injured or killed.
MAINTENANCE SAFETY
1. Make sure the engine is off before you begin any maintenance or repairs.
2. Let the engine and exhaust system cool before you touch it..
3. To reduce the possibility of fire or explosion, be careful when working around gasoline. Use only a
nonflammable solvent, not gasoline, to clean parts. Keep cigarettes, sparks, and flames away from all
fuel-related parts.
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Maintenance schedules are based on the assumption that your machine will be used for its designed purpose.
Continuous high-load or high-temperature operation, or use in unusually wet or dusty conditions, will necessitate
more frequent service.

à proximité de l’aire de travail.
SÉCURITÉ PERSONNELLE
ATTENTION !
1. Protection de la tête
2. Gants
3. Vêtements de protection
4. Protection des pieds :

1. Maux de tête
2. Confusion
