1. SafetyInstructions
1.1Transport
PleasetransporttheUPS systeminitsoriginalpacking carton(to
protect it against damage due toshockand impact).
1.2Set-up
AscondensationmayoccuriftheUPS ismoveddirectlyfromcoldto
warmenvironment, andinorder todrytheUPS beforeinstallation,
pleaseallowacclimatization timeof at least twohours.
Donotinstall the UPS systemnear watersourcesor indump
environment.
Donotinstall the UPS whereitcouldbeexposedtodirectsunlightor
near heat.
Donot blockoff the ventilation openingsof the UPS cabinet.
1.3Installation
Donotconnectappliancesoritemsofequipment,whichmayoverload
the UPS (suchaslaser printers), tothe output of the UPS.
Placethecablesinsuchawaythatno onecanstep onortripover
them.
Donotconnecthomeappliances,suchashair-dryers,totheoutputof
the UPS.
ThisUPS can be operated byanyindividualwithno previous
experience.
Connect the UPS onlytoan earthed shock-proof socket outlet.
Thesocketoutlet, towhichtheUPS isconnected,mustbeeasily
accessibleand closetothe UPS.
Pleaseread the following user manual andsafetyinstructionsbefore
installing this unit and starting it up.

UseonlyVDE-tested,CE-markedcable(asthepowercableofyour
computer) toconnect the UPS tothe building socket outlet.
UseonlyVDE-tested,CE-markedpowercablestoconnecttheloads
tothe UPS.
ThisUPS isan operator installable.
When installingtheequipment, itshouldbeensured thatthesumof
the earthleakage currentfromthe UPSand the load connected toit
must not exceed 3.5mA
1.4Operation
Do notremoveorunplug theinputcord whentheUPS isturnedon.
Thisremovesthe safetyground fromthe UPS and the equipment
connected tothe UPS.
ThisUPS containsitsownenergysource(batteries).Theoutputofthe
UPS maycarrylivevoltageeven whenthe UPS isnotconnectedtoan
ACsupply.
Forcompletedisconnectionofthe UPS systemfirstpress the"OFF"
button formorethan onesecond,thendisconnectthemainspower
supplycable.
Ensure that no fluidsor other foreign objectscan enter the UPS system.
ThisUPSoperateswithhazardousvoltages,repairsmustbecarried
out onlybyqualified servicetechnician.
1.5Maintenance, servicing and faults
ThisUPS operateswithhazardousvoltages,repairsmustbecarried
out onlybyqualified maintenancetechnician.
Caution riskofelectricshock.Evenafterthe UPS hasbeen
disconnectedfromthemainssupply(buildingsocketoutlet),
dangeroushigh voltagesare still existing inside the UPS.
Beforecarryingoutanytype ofservicingandrepair,disconnectthe
mainssupplyandthebatteries.Verifythatnohazardousvoltageexists
on the terminalsof the capacitors.

Onlypersons,adequatelyfamiliarwithbatteriesand withthe required
precautionarymeasuresmyreplacethe UPSbatteries,unqualified
personsmust not dealwithbatteries.
Caution riskofelectricshock.The batterycircuitisnotisolatedfrom
theinputvoltage.Hazardousvoltagesmayoccurbetweenthebattery
terminalsandtheground.Beforetouching anyterminalorwire,please
verifythat no voltage ispresent.
Batteriescanpresentariskofelectricalshockandhavehighshort-
circuitcurrent.Thefollowingprecautions,andanyothersnecessary
measures, shouldbe observed:
-Removewatches, rings, or other metalobjects.
-Usetoolswithinsulated handles.
Replacethe batterieswiththe samenumber and type,astheoriginally
installed ones.
Donot disposeof the batteriesinafire. Batteriesmayexplode.
Donot open or destroythe battery. Released electrolyteisharmfulto
skinand eyes. It maybe toxic.
When replacing afuse, useonlyone of the sametype and the same
current and voltage ratings, asthe originalfuse.
Donot dismantlethe UPS system.

3. Introduction
Thison-line UPS incorporatesthe latestindouble-conversiontopology,which
providesperfectprotectionfor your criticalandpowersupplysensitive
equipment speciallyNovell, WindowsNTand Unixservers.
The double-conversionprincipleeliminatesall the mainspower disturbances.
Here,arectifier convertsthe alternatingcurrentofthemainssupplytodirect
current. Thisdirectcurrentchargesthe batteriesandpowerstheinverter.The
inverter,initsturn,generatesasinusoidalACvoltage,whichpermanently
suppliestheloadswithuninterrupted,clean and sine-wavevoltage.
Computersand peripheralsarethuspoweredentirelybytheinverter.Inthe
eventofmainspowerfailure,themaintenance-freebatteriessupplythe
inverter.
ThisseriesofUPS unitsareproducedinthree powerratings1kVA,2kVA and
3kVA withstandardbatterybackup timeandwithextended batterybackup
time, asshowninthe tablebelow.

Thisbutton hastwofunctions:
-Turning on theUPS system:Bypressingthisbutton,the UPS
systemturnson.
-Deactivating the audiblealarm:Bypressing thisbuttonthe
audiblealarmcan be deactivated.
OFF-Button
Bypressingthe"OFF"button “ “,the inverterturnsoffand,ifthe
mainspowersupplyisnormal, the UPS systemswitchestoStandby
orBypass mode.The UPS outputsocketswillbesuppliedviathe
bypass circuit.
Select-Button If theUPS isintheBypass orintheNo-outputmode,thisbutton is
used toenterthe configurationmode and toselecttheUPS output
voltage and frequency and todisableorenablethe bypass circuit.
Enter-Button If theUPS isintheBypass orintheNo-outputmode,thisbutton is
used toconfirmthe selected UPS outputvoltage andfrequencyand
the disabling/enabling stateof the bypass circuit.

Displaysthevalueofthe batteryvoltage.It canbe

5. Connection and Operation
5.1Inspection: Inspectthepackingcartonanditscontentsfor anydamage.
Informthe carrier agencyimmediatelyifyoufind anysignofdamage.
Keep the packing cartonsinasafeplacefor future use.
Note:Please ensurethat theincoming feederisisolatedand secured
topreventitfrombeing switchedon again.
5.2Connection
5.2.1UPS InputConnection
The currentcarryingcapacity(ampacity)ofthesocketoutlet, towhichthe
UPS isconnected,mustbe greater than the UPS inputcurrent:over 10A
for 1KT-XL and2KT modelsand over 16Afor 3KTand 3KT-XL
models.
5.2.2UPS OutputConnection
The outputsoftheUPS1KTand1KT-XLaresocket-type only.Simplyplug
the load power cord tothe UPS output socket tocompletethe connection.

Besidesthe outputsockets,UPS models

alsoan outputterminalblock.The connectiondiagramofthisterminal
blockis showninfigure below.
The wiring configuration isasthe following procedure:
a)Removethe small cover of the terminalblock
b)UseAWG14 or 2.1mm2wiresfor wiring configuration
c)Uponcompletionofthewiringconfiguration,pleasecheckwhether
the wiresare securelyaffixed.
d) Put the small cover backtothe rear panel.

5.2.3ComputerConnection
Connect your computer tothe UPS socket outlet using the abovediagram.
5.3BatteryCharging
Tofullycharge thebatteries oftheUPS,keeptheUPS connectedtothemains
supplyfor 1-2hours.Duringthisperiod,the UPS canbe usedtosupplythe
load,butinthiscasethe batteryautonomytime will belessthanthevalues
specified.
5.4Turning OntheUPS
5.4.1WithMainsPowerConnected
Press the"ON"button" "continuouslyfor more thanonesecond,toturn
on theUPS.Atthebeginningoftheturning-on process theUPS performs

aself-test.Afterfinishingtheself-test,theinverterstartsandtheUPS
becomesintheline-mode.TheLCD screenlightsup toindicatethe status
of the UPS.
5.4.2WithoutMainsPowerConnected
Even themainspowersupplyisnotconnected,pressing the"ON"button
""continuously,for more than one second,will turnon the UPS.Atthe
beginningoftheturning-onprocess the UPS performsaself-test.After
finishing the self-testtheinverterstartsand theUPS becomesinthe
battery-mode. The LCD screen lightsupand indicatesthe statusof the UPS.
Note:Thedefaultsetting forthebypass circuitistheno-outputstate.
Thisstatecanbeconfiguredusingthefrontpanel button switchesor
software.
5.5Test Function
TotesttheUPS press the"ON"button " "ofthe UPSordisconnecttheinput
mainssupply.
5.6Turning Off theUPS
5.6.1InLineMode
Press the"OFF"button “"continuouslyformorethan onesecond.Atthe
beginning,the UPS performsaself-test. Afterfinishingtheself-test, the
UPS becomesinthe standbyor the bypass-mode.Avoltagemayexistat
theoutputoftheUPS ifthebypassisenabled.Disconnectthemains
power toremovethe UPS output voltage.
5.6.2InBatteryMode
Toturnoff theUPS,press the"OFF"button “"continuouslyformorethan
onesecond.Atthebeginningoftheturning-off processtheUPS performs
aself-test. After the self-test isfinished the UPS turnsoff completely.
5.7AudibleAlarm mute
If the alarmisactivating inthebatterymode,press the "ON"button" "
continuously,formorethanonesecond,toclearit. Thealarmwill be
activated againwhen the batteryvoltagebecomeslowtoremind youto
shutdownthe load.

5.8Procedureofexternalbatteryconnectionfor long backuptime
models(models).
Units withCEmarks
1) Usethe batterypackof 36VDC (3 cellsof 12Veach) for the 1K-XL
models.
Usethebatterypackof96VDC (8 cellsof12Veach) for the 2KT-XL
and 3KT-XL models.Connection ofbatterypacks withwrongbattery
voltageswill causedamage.
2) Oneendoftheexternalbatterycablewill bepluggedintotheexternal
batterysocketofthe UPS andtheotherendwill beconnectedtothe
externalbatterycabinet.
3) Donotconnectanyload tothe UPS output. Connectthe inputpowercable
ofthe UPStotheinputmainssupplytooperatetheUPS intheutility
power mode.
4) Connecttheexternalbatterycablebetween theexternalbatterysocket, on
the rearpanelofthe UPS,and the externalbatterycabinet. The UPS will
start charging the externalbattery.
5) Thisexternalbatterycablehasthreewires,theredisthe "+"wire,the
blackisthe "-"wire and the green/yellowisthe grounding wire.
Caution!
The outputsocketsoftheUPS systemmaycarrylivevoltageevenifthe
inputpowersupplyhasbeendisconnectedorthebypass switchison
“OFF”position.

6. UPS Operating Modes
OntheLCD paneloftheUPS,acode isdisplayedtoindicatetheoperating
mode oftheUPS.Thecodesdisplayed canalsoindicateafaultorawarning.
The tablebelowshowsthemeaningsofthedifferentcodesthatcanbe
displayed on the UPS LCD.
Notethat,atanytimeinstant,onlyoneoperatingmodeorafaultmodecan
be represented.
Ifseveralwarningsexistinagivenoperating mode,the codesofthese
warningsandthe codethatindicatestheoperatingmodeare showncyclically.
Onceafaultcomesforth,the codesofall existingwarningswillnotbe
displayed and onlythe code of the existing fault will be displayed.

6.1LineModeofOperation
The LCD displayoftheUPS intheline modeofoperation isshowninthe
followingfigure.Inthismodeofoperation,informationabouttheinputmains
supply,thebattery,the UPS outputand the load are displayed.Theblock
"INVERTER"on the LCD displayindicatesthat the inverter isinoperation.
Notethat the code that indicatesthismode of operation is"02".

IftheUPSbecomesoverloaded,thepercentageoftheloadwill beshown
andtheaudiblealarmwillbeeptwicepersecond.Inthiscase,the UPS load
hastobe decreased toless than 90%of itsrated power capacity.
6.2BatteryModeofOperation
The LCD displayoftheUPS inthebatterymodeofoperationisshowninthe
figurebelow.Inthismodeofoperation,informationabouttheinputmains
supply,thebattery,the UPS outputand the load are displayed.Theblock
"INVERTER"on the LCD displayindicatesthat the inverter isinoperation.
Note that:
1)When the UPS isinthebatterymode,the alarmbeepsonceevery
4seconds.Tosilencethe alarm,press the "ON"button for more
thanonesecond.Pressing the"ON"buttonagainformore thanone
second resumesthe alarmagain.
2)Ifthe mainsinputsupplyvoltagebecomeshigherthan the
maximuminputvoltageacceptedbythe UPS,the"H"signwill be
shownontheLCD,whileif themainsinputsupplyvoltagebecomes
lowerthantheminimuminputvoltageacceptedbytheUPS,the"L"
sign will be shownon the LCD.
Iftheinputmainssupplyislost,both"H"and"L"signswill
disappear and the input voltage and frequencywill displayzeros.

The displayof batterytest modeisthesameasbatterymode,but “H”and “L”
signswill notbeshownunlesstheinputmainsvoltageishigherorlowerthan
the valuesaccepted bythe UPS.
The code thatindicatesthe batterymode ofoperation is"03"whilethe code
that indicatesthe batterytest mode is"04".
6.3Bypass ModeofOperation
The LCDdisplayofthe UPS inthe bypass modeofoperation isshowninthe
figurebelow.Inthismodeofoperation,informationabouttheinputmains
supply,the battery,the UPS outputandtheloadaredisplayed.Thecode that
indicatesthismodeofoperation is"01".The block"BYPASS"on the LCD
displayindicatesthatthebypasscircuit isinoperation.TheUPS alarmbeeps
onceeverytwominutes.

Notethatinthebypass modetheload issupplieddirectlyfromtheinput
mainssupplyand no backup existsincaseof mainsfailure.
6.4No-OutputModeofOperation
The LCD displayoftheUPSintheno-outputmodeofoperationisshownin
the figure below.Inthismode ofoperation,informationabouttheinputmains
supply,thebattery,the UPS outputandthe load are displayed.The codethat
indicatesthismode of operation is"00".

6.5Abnormal ModeofOperation
Thismode ofoperationoccursifafaultoccurs.Acode will be displayedto
indicatethetypeofthe faultoccurring.Inadditiontothecodethatdescribes
thetypeofthefault, somewarningwords,as"short"thatindicatesanoutput
short-circuit,will be displayed.Refertochapter4,todeterminethe meaning
of the warning words.

7. Setting The UPS Parameters
The frontpanelbuttonswitchesare used tosetthe UPSoutputvoltage and
frequencyandtodisableorenablethe bypass circuit. TheUPS output
voltage canbesetto208VAC,220VAC,230VACor240VAC.TheUPS
outputfrequencycanbesetto50Hz.or 60Hz.The UPS bypass circuitcan
be set toenableor disablestate.
NotethattheseparameterscanbesetonlywhentheUPS isinthe bypassor
inthe no-output mode.
WhiletheUPS isinthe bypass orintheno-outputmode, ifthe"Select"button
ispressedfor morethan onesecond,aflickering blackround dotwill be
showninfrontofthe"208V"ontheLCD.Ifthe"Select"buttonisagain
pressed continuously,theflickeringdotwill movetothefrontofthe"220V",
"230V","240V","50Hz","60Hz","Bypass Disable"and "Bypass Enable"
cyclically.
Toselectanyofthesepossiblechoices,press the"Enter"buttonformore
than one second.
The outputvoltage andfrequencyoftheUPS will be changed tothe selected
value after the UPS isturned on, bypressing the "ON"button.
Ifthe"BypassEnable"wasselected,The UPS will turn tobypass mode,in
severalseconds.Whileif"Bypass Disable"wasselected,theUPS will turn to
"NoOutput"mode.
The followingfiguresshowthe stepsrequired tochange theUPS output
voltage from220Vto230V.

Step 1.After pressingthe “Select”button,for more thanonesecond,one
flicking round dot will appear infront of the “208Vac”.
Step 2.Pressingthe “Select”buttontwiceagain,theflickingrounddot
will movetothe front of the “230Vac”
