The following basic precautions should always be followed when using electrical
appliances:
1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.
The Appliance
2. This appliance must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed; any
use NOT complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered
inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer is NOT responsible for possible
damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.
3. The installation/assembly of the appliance will be made in accordance with the
indications of the manufacturer. A wrong procedure may cause damages to
persons, animals or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered
responsible.
4. Before use, check the integrity of the appliance (particularly, the integrity of the
Crystal Plate – which is the top glossy surface) and power cable. DO NOT
operate the appliance when its housing is damaged. In case you are not sure,
contact a qualified person. If the Crystal Plate or power cable is damaged, it
must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a qualified
technician in order to avoid a shock hazard.
5. Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency)
corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance,
and that the wall socket is properly grounded. This appliance is fitted with an
earth wire for extra safety.
6. DO NOT power the appliance using multiple sockets. If possible, avoid the use
of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is absolutely necessary, use
only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and according to
the electrical parameters of the adapters.
7. The appliance must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other
remote control appliances, which are not specified in this manual.
8. Only use original components & accessories provided by the manufacturer. Any
non-original component or accessory NOT recommended by the manufacturer

manufacturers or by the same manufacturer but for other models of the same
capacity or otherwise) may cause injuries to persons or damage to the

appliance.
9. The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept
out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential
sources of danger.
Location
10. This appliance is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open
flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the
presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapour, mist or dust, in
atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air).
Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and
never be used to clean the appliance in order to avert the risk of fire or
explosion.
11. The appliance should NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of objects,
which can be damaged by heat such as carpets or plastics. DO NOT locate
multiple portable socket outlets or power supplies at the bottom or rear of the
appliance. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the appliance, the
surface that the appliance is placed upon as well the surface immediately above
or adjacent to it may become very hot. There should be at least 10 cm of free
space from the back, left & right sides and at least 20 cm from the top of the
utensil (pot, pan, etc.) placed on the Crystal Plate to allow adequate air
circulation. Never use the appliance near curtains or textiles. If the appliance is
operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to
delicate finishes.
12. Avoid placing the power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions
where it can be damaged easily. DO NOT pull the power cable, tug it or use it to
drag the appliance to which is connected. The cable must NOT be placed under
carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners or similar. Arrange the cable away
from the high traffic area, and where it will NOT be tripped over.
13. DO NOT allow the power cable of the appliance to fall across the Crystal Plate.
In addition, when using another electrical appliance, e.g. a hand-held food
blender, near the appliance, ensure that the power cable of the electrical
appliance cannot come into contact with the Crystal Plate. The insulation on the
cable could become damaged.
14. DO NOT use or store the appliance outdoors. Store and use the appliance only
indoors, or in any case, protected from weathering such as rain, direct radiation
of the sun and dust.
Operation
15. If you are using the appliance for the first time, you should:
a. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth, and immediately wipe dry.
DO NOT use metal scouring pads.
b. Add oil, grease or water into the utensil (pot, pan, etc.) on top of the Crystal

Plate first. DO NOT heat an empty utensil. Not doing this may lead to burning
or scarring it. Hereby “utensil” is regarded as any container i.e. pot, pan, etc.
placed onto the Crystal Plate;
c. Plug the power cable into the electric socket and switch it on. Press the
ON/OFF button followed by one of 4 buttons (Soup, Fry, BBQ, Hot Pot).

material could catch fire, shatter or melt if the hob is switched on by mistake
or if residual heat is still present;
obstruct totally nor partially the air inlet & outlet;
insert objects or body parts inside the protection cover of the appliance;
switch the appliance on if the utensil is dry - however, should the utensil be
found dry during operation, immediately remove the utensil from the Crystal
Plate and press the ON/OFF button. DO NOT switch the appliance off. The
fan will continue to work until the unit cools down;
slide utensils into place on the Crystal Plate as this can cause scuffs and
scratches. Instead, lift utensils into position on the plate.
place metallic objects such as knives, forks, spoons, lids, etc. or combustible
materials (paper, cloth, sugar, plastic, aluminium foil, etc.) on the Crystal Plate
as they can damage the plate. If this should occur, switch off the appliance
and scrape off all the residues whilst still hot, using a shielded scraper blade.
After the appliance had cooled down, clean the plate with a suitable ceramic
hob cleaning agent;
place hot items on the Control Panel as this could cause damage to the
electronics underneath;
touch the Crystal Plate of the appliance when in operation or just after
switching it off as it will still be very hot and may cause scalding;
drop anything on the Crystal Plate. Even a light object can cause damage in
certain circumstances.
16. During (and immediately after) the period of operation, high temperature steam
may escape from the utensil. To avoid scalding:
DO NOT
fill liquids beyond 80% of the maximum volume if you are using a pot;
remove the lid while heating & ensure that the lid is tightly closed during

heating if you are using a pot;
add food with its packaging (plastic wrapper, paper, foil, metal can, etc.) still
attached without first removing the packaging;
heat up food in closed containers e.g. tins or sealed jars on the Crystal Plate,
as pressure can build up in the container, causing it to explode;
move the appliance while in operation;
remove the utensil during heating. Wait until heating has completed, press
the ON/OFF button and then remove the utensil carefully;
touch the Crystal Plate of the appliance except the Control Panel buttons or
the Power Knob when in operation or just after switching it off as it will still be
very hot and may cause scalding Always wear protective, insulated oven
gloves when in contact with the utensil. DO NOT let the gloves get wet as
this causes heat to transfer through the material more quickly with the risk of
scalding or burning yourself. The bottom of the cooker becomes exceedingly
hot as the cooker operates;
direct steam at any person or animal & one’s hands and face should be
angled away from the utensil (especially if it has a vapor hole) at all times;
leave the appliance unsupervised during operation, especially when cooking
with oil and fat. If the oil and fat ignites, DO NOT attempt to put the flames
out with water. Press the ON/OFF button and use a suitable fire blanket,
saucepan lid, damp towel or similar to smother the flames;
17. During operation, DO NOT touch the appliance with wet body parts, and it is
recommended to have between you and the standing surface, an isolating
element (for example, wearing shoes with rubber soles).
18. DO NOT soak the appliance in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let
any liquid flow into the internal casing of the appliance to prevent electric shock.
In case of accidental fall in water, DO NOT try to take it out, but immediately
switch the socket switch OFF and detach the 3-pin plug from the socket on the
wall (holding it firmly with dry hands).
19. Always switch the socket switch OFF and detach the plug from the socket if it is
NOT used for a long period, before storing, cleaning or performing any
maintenance operation.
20. In case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning, switch the socket
switch OFF, unplug the plug and check the cause of the anomaly, if possible,
with the support of a qualified person.
