operation and maintenance of this product. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the
information in this manual. PowerSmart®reserves the right to change this product and specifications at

Please keep this manual available to all users during the entire life of the chain saw.
This manual contains special messages to bring attention to potential safety concerns, chain
saw damage as well as helpful operating and servicing information. Please read all the
information carefully to avoid injury and machine damage.

Before operating this chain saw, read and observe all warnings, cautions, and instructions on the chain
saw and in this Owner’s Manual.

GENERAL SAFETY PROCEDURES
Safety is a combination of common sense, staying alert, and knowing how your chain saw works.
SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
WARNING: Do not operate this unit until you read this instruction manual for safety,
operation and maintenance instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may
result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury.
•Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases,
or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
•Do not allow children or untrained individuals to use this unit.
•Don’t expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
•Do not handle plug or tool with wet hands.
•Never allow children to operate the equipment. Never allow adults to operate the equipment without
proper instruction.
•Always wear safety glasses with side shields. Everyday glasses have only impact resistant lenses. They
are NOT safety glasses. Following this rule will reduce the risk of eye injury. Use face mask if operation
is dusty.
•Wear eye protection when operating this product. Secure long hair above shoulder level to prevent
entanglement in moving parts.
•Do not expose to rain, store indoors.
•Do not operate in poor lighting.
•Keep all parts of your body away from any moving part.
•Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.
•Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves. Avoid loose garments and jewelry that could get caught in
moving parts of the machine or its motor.
•Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer
at the rate for which it is designed.
•Do not operate the equipment while barefoot or when wearing sandals or similar lightweight footwear.
Wear protective footwear that will protect your feet and improve your footing on slippery surfaces.
•Secure long hair so it is above shoulder level to prevent entanglement in any moving parts.
•Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach. Overreaching can result in loss of balance.
•Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
•Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on or off. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
•Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 ft. away.
•Do not operate this unit when you are tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
•Keep all parts of your body away from any moving parts and all hot surfaces of the unit.
•Check the work area before each use. Remove all objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, or string
which can be thrown or become entangled in the machine.
•Use only identical manufacturer’s replacement parts and accessories. Use of any other parts may create a
hazard or cause product damage.
•For household use only.
•Battery tools do not have to be plugged into an electrical outlet; therefore, they are always in operating
condition. Be aware of possible hazards when not using your battery tool or when changing accessories.
Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious personal injury.

•Remove or disconnect battery before servicing, cleaning or removing material from the gardening
appliance.
•Use only POWER SMART battery (Model#PS76018B)
•Store idle appliances - When not in use, chain saw should be stored indoors in a dry, locked place out of
the reach of children.
•Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. The cell may explode. Check with local codes for possible
special disposal instructions.
•Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the
eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed.
•Do not place battery tools or their batteries near fire or heat. This will reduce the risk of explosion and
possibly injury.
•Batteries can explode in the presence of a source of ignition, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, never use any cordless product in the presence of open flame. An exploded
battery can propel debris and chemicals. If exposed, flush with water immediately.
•Do not crush, drop or damage battery pack. Do not use a battery pack or charger that has been dropped or
received a sharp blow. A damaged battery is subject to explosion. Properly dispose of a dropped or
damaged battery immediately.
•Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as
rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause burns. Do not open or
mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may
be toxic if swallowed.
•For best results, your battery tool should be charged in a location where the temperature is more than
45°F but less than 104°F. To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, do not store outside or in
vehicles.
•Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contact
with your skin, wash immediately with soap and water, then neutralize with lemon juice or vinegar. If
liquid gets into your eyes, flush them with clean water for at least 10 minutes, then seek immediate
medical attention. Following this rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury.
•If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced only by the manufacturer or by an authorized
service center to avoid risk.
•Do not point the chain saw in the direction of people or pets.
•Maintain tool with care. Keep the chain saw clean for best and safest performance. Follow instructions for
proper maintenance. Do not attempt to clear clogs from tool without first removing the battery.
•To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not expose to rain, do not use on wet surfaces. Store indoors.
•Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and use them to instruct others who may use this battery
tool. If you loan someone this power tool, loan them these instructions also.

CHILD SAFETY
Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not aware of the presence of children.
•Keep children out of the working area and under the watchful care of a responsible adult.
•Do not allow children under the age of 14 to operate this trimmer. Children who are 14 years of age
and older must read and understand the operating instructions and safety rules in this manual, and
must be trained and supervised by a parent.
•Stay alert, and turn the chain saw off if a child or any other person enters the working area.
•Look behind and down for small children before and while cutting backwards.
•Use extreme care when approaching blind corners, doorways, shrubs, trees, or other objects that may
obscure your view of a child who may run into the path of the chain saw.
WARNING:
Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities
contains chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples
of these chemicals are:
•Lead from lead-based paints,
•Crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and
•Arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your
exposure to these chemical: work in a well-ventilated area, and work with approved safety equipment, such
as those dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR CHAIN SAW
WARNING: Do not operate your chain saw until it is completely assembled and installed
according to the instructions.
•DANGER – Keep hands away from blade. Contact with blade will result in serious personal injury.
•Use chain saw for cutting wood only. Do not use for cutting non-wood items.
•Make sure that the area in which you are cutting is free from obstructions. Do not let the nose of the
Guide bar contact a log, branch, fence, or any other obstruction while you are operating the unit. Have
a planned retreat path.
•Do not grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the product.
•Cut only when visibility and light are adequate for you to see clearly.
•To protect yourself from electrocution, do not operate within 50 feet of overhead electrical lines.
•Before starting the motor, make sure the chain is not contacting any object.
•Turn off the motor and make sure cutting attachment has stopped before setting unit down.
•Follow the sharpening and maintenance instructions for the saw chain.
•Use only the replacement guide bars and low kickback chains specified for the unit.
•Do not operate the saw with one hand! Serious injury to the operator, helpers, bystanders, or any
combination of these persons may result from one hand operation. This saw is intended for two-hand
use.

•Use extreme caution when cutting small-sized brush and saplings because slender material may catch
the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance.
•When cutting a limb that is under tension, be alert for spring back so that you will not be struck when
the tension in the wood fibers is released.
•To avoid accidental starting, never carry plugged in product with finger on switch. Be sure switch is off
when plugging in.
•Maintain product with care. Keep cutting edge sharp and clean for best performance and to reduce the
risk of injury. Follow this instruction for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect cord
periodically and, if damaged, have it repaired by an authorized service facility. Inspect extension cords
periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
•Remove the battery pack when not in use, before servicing, and when changing accessories.
•Service on the product must be performed by qualified repair personal only. Service or maintenance
performed by unqualified personal could result in injury to the user or damage to the product.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING:
Do not use this product if any parts on the packing list are already assembled to your product
when you unpack it. Parts on this list are not assembled to the product by the manufacturer
and require customer installation. Use of a product that may have been improperly assembled
could result in serious personal injury.
WARNING:
If any parts are damaged or missing do not operate this product until the parts are replaced.

this product. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a hazardous

WARNING:
Do not connect to power supply until assembly is complete. Failure to comply could result in

FITTING THE GUIDE BAR AND CHAIN
WARNING: If the chain saw is already connected to the battery pack, remove the battery
pack from the chain saw. Wear protective gloves whenever doing any work on the saw chain.
Before assembling the guide bar with the saw chain, check the cutting direction of the teeth! The running
direction is marked with an arrow on the cover . To determine the direction of cut, it may be necessary to
turn over the saw chain . Hold the guide bar vertically with the tip pointing upwards and put on the saw
chain , beginning at the tip of the bar.
1. Place the guide bar with the saw chain on the chain wheel and guide bolt . Ensure that the
adjustment plate is showing to you.
2. Place the saw chain round the chain wheel . Cause the chainsaw to the sprocket and check whether it
is correctly.
3. The adjustment plate is fastened to the guide rail with the screw.
4. Place the cover on top and tighten gently with the lock nut .

OPERATION
WARNING: Read and thoroughly understand all instructions and safety information before
operating this chain saw. Failure to do so may cause serious injury or death. Do not allow
anyone to operate this chain saw who has not read this manual. A chain saw can be dangerous
if assembled or used improperly. Do not operate this chain saw if you have doubts or questions
concerning safe operation. Call our customer service department at 1-800-791-9458 to address these
concerns.
ADDING BAR AND CHAIN LUBRICANT
Use premium bar and chain lubricant. It is designed for chains and chain oilers, and is formulated to
perform over a wide temperature range with no dilution required.
1. Remove the battery pack from the chain saw.
2. Clean the dust from the oil tank cap and the surroundings to prevent dust from entering the Oil tank
when filling the oil.
3. Place the chain saw on the horizontal surface and unscrew the oil tank cap counter-clockwise.
4. Wipe off excess lubricant.
5. Fill the lubricant in the oil tank up to the neck of the oil.
6. Close the oil tank cap and tighten it clockwise.
NOTE: Do not use dirty, used, or otherwise contaminated lubricants. Damage may occur to the bar or
chain.
NOTE: It is normal for oil to seep from the saw when not in use. To prevent seepage, empty the oil tank
after each use then run for one minute. When storing the unit for a long period of time(three months or
longer) be sure the chain is lightly lubricated; this will prevent rust on the chain and bar sprocket.
CONNECTING AND REMOVING BATTERY
IMPORTANT!
The battery pack is not charged when it is purchased. Before using the chain saw for the first time, place
the battery pack in the battery charger and charge. Make sure to read all safety precautions, and follow the
instructions in the battery charger section.
To remove the battery pack
Press the battery release button ,Slide the battery pack backward, and then pull or lift the battery out of
the tool .
To install the battery pack
To install the battery pack into the bottom of the handle, align the rails of the battery pack with the rails in
the handle and push the battery into the handle. To connect the battery, slide the battery pack fully
forward. Until the latch locks into place.

WARNING:
Follow these instructions in order to avoid injury and to reduce the risk of electric shock or
fire:
•Replace the battery pack or the charger immediately if the battery case or charger cord is damaged.
•Verify that the battery pack is removed before inspecting, adjusting, or performing maintenance on
any part of the string trimmer.
•Read, understand, and follow the instructions.
STARTING THE CHAIN SAW
•Insert the battery pack.
•Make sure that there are no obstructions in contact with the guide
bar and the chain.
•Pull the brake baffle toward the battery pack and ensure that it
remains in the working position(see fig.1).
•Hold the front handle with you left hand, and hold the rear handle
with your right hand.
•Push forward the lock-off button and hold the trigger switch so
that the chain saw is started(see fig.2).
STOPPING THE CHAIN SAW
•Remove the chain saw from the cutting area, release the trigger switch and stop the chain saw.
•Push the brake baffle forward to switch it to the braking position.
WARNING:
The tool runs for approximately 4 seconds after it has been switched off. Let the motor come
to a complete standstill before setting the tool down.
PROPER GRIP ON HANDLES
•Wear non-slip gloves for maximum grip and protection.
•With the saw on a firm, fiat surface, hold the saw firmly
with both hands.
•Always grasp the front handle with the left hand and the
rear handle with the right handle.
•The fingers should encircle the handle, with the thumb
wrapped under the front handle (see fig.3).

CUTTING TIPS
WARNING:
If bar and chain become jammed, stop the motor, allow the chain to stop, and disconnect the
plug from the power source before attempting to remove the obstruction. Failure to follow
these steps could result in accidental starting of the lopper and cause serious personal injury.
•Cut only wood or materials made from wood, do not cut sheet metal, plastics, masonry, or non-wood
building materials.
•Never allow children to operate the chain saw.
•Allow no person to use this chain saw who has not read this Operators Manual or received adequate
instructions for the safe and proper use of this chain.
•Always cut with both feet on solid ground to prevent being pulled off balance.
•Do not cut above chest height, as a saw held higher is difficult to control against kickback forces.
•Do not fell trees near electrical wires or buildings.
•Press the lock-off button and squeeze the trigger to start the chain saw. Let the chain reach the full
speed before beginning the cut.
•Begin cutting by lightly pressing the guide bar against the wood. Use only light pressure, letting the
saw do the work.
•Maintain a steady speed throughout the cut, releasing pressure just before the end of the cut.
•Release the trigger as soon as the cut is completed, allowing the chain to stop.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING:
In order to avoid personal injury and the risk of fire and electric shock, remove the battery
pack before adjusting, inspecting, or cleaning the chain saw.
WARNING:
When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts could create a
hazard or cause product damage.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various
types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean clothes to remove dirt, dust, oil,
grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc.,
come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken, or destroy plastic, which
could result in serious personal injury.

CHAIN TENSION
WARNING:
To avoid possible serious injury, never touch or adjust the chain while the motor is running.
The saw chain is very sharp; always wear protective gloves when performing maintenance to
the chain.
1. Stop the motor and remove the battery pack before adjusting the chain tension.
2. Loosen the side cover knob.
3. Turn the chain-tensioning knob clockwise to tension the chain. See the section: "REPLACING THE
BAR AND CHAIN" in this manual for additional information.
NOTE: A cold chain is correctly tensioned when there is no slack on
the underside of the guide bar, the chain is snug, but it can be turned by
hand without binding.
4. Chain must be re-tensioned whenever the flats on the drive links hang
out of the bar groove (see fig.4).
5. During normal operation, the temperature of the chain will increase.
The drive links of a correctly tensioned warm chain will hang
approximately 0.050 in. out of the bar groove (see fig.5).
6. Retighten the side cover knob.
NOTE: New chain tends to stretch; check chain tension frequently and
tension as required.
NOTICE: Chain tensioned while warm, can be too tight upon cooling. Check the “ cold tension”
before next use.
REPLACING THE BAR AND CHAIN
WARNING:
To avoid possible serious injury, stop the motor and disconnect from power supply before
replacing the bar, chain, or performing any maintenance operation.
CAUTION:
Always wear gloves when handling the bar and chain; these components are sharp and may
contain burrs.
1. Remove the battery pack from the chainsaw.
2. Release the guide plate locking knob counter
clockwise and open the side cover (see fig.6).
3. Rotate the disk wheel at the rear end of the
guide plate counter-clockwise and remove the
guide bar and the saw chain.

4. Install the saw chain in the guide slot on the guide bar (see fig.7).
The chain must be so fitted over the guide bar that the cutting edges of the cutters face in the
direction that the chain runs(see fig.8).
5. Grasp the guide bar and the saw chain so that the centre hole of the disk wheel is inserted into the
screw stud, and lop the saw chain onto the sprocket (see fig.9).
6. Cover the side cover and tight the side cover lock knob properly but do not make it too tight.
7. Rotate the chain tensioning ring clockwise until the saw chain is tight enough (see the description of
the chainsaw tensionadjustment section).
8. Tighten the side cover lock knob(see fig.10).
CHAIN OILER
Use premium bar and chain lubricant. It is designed for chains and chain oilers and is formulated to
perform over a wide temperature range with no dilution required.
1. Remove the battery pack from the chain saw.
2. Clean the dust from the oil tank cap and the surroundings to prevent dust from entering the Oil tank
when filling the oil.
3. Place the chain saw on the horizontal surface and unscrew the oil tank cap counter-clockwise.
4. Wipe off excess lubricant.
5. Fill the lubricant in the oil tank up to the neck of the oil.
6. Close the oil tank cap and tighten it clockwise.

bar, or chain.

GUIDE BAR MAINTENANCE
When the guide bar shows signs of wear, reverse it on the saw to distribute the wear for maximum bar life.
The bar should be cleaned every day of use and checked for wear and damage.
Feathering or burring of the bar rails is a normal process of bar wear. Such faults should be smoothed
with a file as soon as they occur.
A bar with any of the following faults should be replaced.
Wear inside the bar rails which permits the chain to lay over sideways.
Bent guide bar.
Cracked or broken rails.
Spread rails.
Lubricate guide bars with a sprocket at their tip weekly. Using a grease syringe, lubricate weekly in the
lubricating hole. Turn the guide bar and check that the lubrication holes and chain groove are free from
impurities.
BATTERY PACK
•Store the battery pack fully charged.
•Once the charging light turns green, remove the battery from the charger and disconnect the charger
from the outlet.
•Do not store the battery pack on the tool.
•After charging, the battery pack may be stored in the charger, as long as the charger is not plugged in.
CHARGER MAINTENANCE
•Keep the charger clean and clear of debris. Do not allow foreign material to get into the recessed
cavity or onto the contacts. Wipe the charger clean with a dry cloth. Do not use solvents or water, and
do not place the charger in wet conditions.
•Unplug the charger when there is no battery pack in it.
•Fully charge the batteries before placing them in storage.
•Store the charger at normal room temperature. Do not store it in excessive heat. Do not use the
charger in direct sunlight. Recharge at room temperature between 45˚F and 104˚F. If the battery
pack is hot, allow it to cool down before recharging.
STORAGE
•Store out of the reach of children.
•Clean all foreign material from the product. Store idle unit indoors in a dry, well-ventilated area that
is inaccessible to children. Keep away from corrosive agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing
salts.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE BATTERY DISPOSAL
The batteries used in this chain saw's battery pack contain the following toxic and corrosive material:
LITHIUM-ION.
WARNING:
Toxic materials must be disposed of in a specified manner in order to prevent contamination
of the environment. Before disposing of damaged or worn out Lithium-Ion battery packs, contact your
local waste disposal agency for information and specific instructions. Take the batteries to a local
recycling and/or disposal centre that is certified for disposal.
If the battery pack cracks or breaks, whether it leaks or not, do not recharge it and do not use it. Dispose of
it and replace it with a new battery pack. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR IT!
Follow these instructions in order to avoid injury and the risk of fire, explosion, or electric shock, and to
avoid damage to the environment:
•Cover the battery's terminals with heavy-duty adhesive tape.
•Do not attempt to remove or destroy any of the components of the battery pack.
•Do not attempt to open the battery pack.
•If a leak develops, the electrolytes that are released are corrosive and toxic. Do not get the solution in
the eyes or on the skin, and do not swallow it.
•Do not place batteries in regular household trash.
•DO NOT incinerate batteries.
•DO NOT place batteries where they will become part of any waste landfill or municipal solid
waste stream.
•Dispose of batteries at a certified recycling or disposal centre.

TROUBLESHOOTING
The following form lists the common operating system with problem and solutions. Please read the form
carefully and follow it.
PROBLEMS POSSIBLE CAUSES SOLUTION
Motor does
not run.
· The battery pack is not
attached to the chain saw.
· There is no electrical contact
between the saw and battery.
· The battery pack is depleted.
· The battery pack or chain
saw is too hot.
· The back-off button is not
depressed before pressing the
trigger switch.
· Chain brake is engaged.
· Saw chain is bound in the
wood.
· Debris in bar groove.
· Debris inside cover.
· Attach the battery pack to the chainsaw.
· Remove the battery, check contacts and reinstall
the battery pack.
· Charge the battery pack.
· Allow the battery pack or chainsaw to cool.
· Press down the lock-
off button and hold it, then
depress the trigger switch to turn on the chain
saw.
· Pull the chain kickback brake handle backward
toward the front handle.
· Release the trigger switch; remove the saw
chain and guide bar from the wood, then restart
the chain saw.
· Press the saw chain against the wood, move the
chain saw back and forth to discharge the debris.
· Remove battery pack, then remove side cover
and clean out debris.
Motor runs, but
chai
n does not
rotate.
· Chain does not engage drive
sprocket.
· Reinstall the chain, making sure that the drive
links on
the chain are fully seated on the sprocket.
Chain brake does
not engage.
· Debris preventing full
movement of the chain

necessary.

· Check chain tension for over

· Re-tension the saw chain; seethe section:
