Instruction Sheet
TURNING RADIO ON/OFF
Turn the top knob clockwise to turn radio ON. Turn this same knob counter-
clockwise to turn the radio OFF.
SPEAKER VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
Turn the top knob clockwise to adjust the radio volume higher. Turn this same
knob counter-clockwise to adjust the radio volume lower.
CHANNEL SELECTION
Turn the top mounted channel selector to the desired channel. Built-in voice will
announce the channel number as you rotate this knob.
PTT - PUSH TO TALK BUTTON
Press this key to transmit and release to listen.
HI / LOW POWER SELECTION
Press and hold PTT (transmit) button and then momentary press the top orange
button to select HI / LOW Power. 2 LED ashes is Hi power, 1 ash is low
power. Changing channels puts power selection back to the default.
MONITOR KEY
Press and hold the monitor key for 2 seconds to turn ON or OFF the radio
squelch feature.
VOX OPERATION
Press the top “Orange” button to turn ON/OFF VOX operation
(this feature must be dealer programmed to use).
The Powerwerx radio is warranted against failure due to defects in
workmanship or materials for 12 months from the date of purchase from
Powerwerx or an authorized Powerwerx dealer. The included radio
battery and battery charger are warranted against failure due to defects
in workmanship or materials for 6 months from the date of purchase
from Powerwerx or an authorized Powerwerx dealer. If purchased from
an authorized Powerwerx dealer the item must be returned with a copy
of the original sales receipt or proof of purchase. Warranty does not
include other accessories, antennas or knobs. Warranty does not cover
damage caused by abuse, accident, misuse, improper or abnormal
usage, failure to follow instructions, improper installation, alteration,
moisture, water, lightning, or other incidence of excessive voltage or
current. If failure occurs within this period, return the radio to Powerwerx
at your shipping expense with a full explanation, return address and
necessary proof of purchase. The device or accessory will be repaired
or replaced, at our option, without charge, and returned to you at our
shipping expense. Repaired or replaced items are warranted for the
remainder of the original warranty period. Powerwerx shall have no
liability or responsibility to customer or any other person or entity with
respect to any liability, loss, or damage.

Getting Started
Congratulations on buying the model GU-16 GMRS Handheld Radio.
This radio can be used straight out of the box with it’s pre-programmed
channels. Additional features are available that can be dealer
programmed depending on your requirements.
GC-16 HANDHELD FEATURES:

BATTERY LEVEL (CAPACITY) DISPLAY
Turn the radio OFF. Wait 2 seconds, then turn radio ON.
• Green light ashes (4) times...........Battery is full (80-100%)
• Green light ashes (3) times...........Battery is medium (60-80%)
• Green light ashes (2) times...........Battery is med/low (40-60%)
• Green light ashes (1) time.............Battery is low (20-40%)
• Red light ashes (4) times..............Battery empty (0-20%)
DESK TOP BATTERY CHARGER OPERATION
To re-charge your radio battery, insert the radio or battery pack into the desk top
charger. Then, reference the battery charger status below:
Flashing Red Light..............Deep Battery Charging (3 1/2 hours)
Solid Red Light....................Reg. Battery Charging (1/2 to 3 hours)
Green Light.........................Battery Fully Charged - ready to go
PRE-PROGRAMMED CHANNELS
Your radio is pre-programmed with (16) UHF GMRS channels. Powerwerx/
Wouxun radios operate on business radio frequencies that are regulated by
the FCC. In order to transmit on these frequencies, you are required to have a
license issued by the FCC. Visit:

Your dealer can also re-program your radio’s channels with different interference
tones and features as needed.
PRE-PROGRAMMED CHANNELS
Channels 1-8 are designed for handheld-to-handheld communications. Channels 9-16
are for repeater operation. Contact your local GMRS repeater provider to gain access.
