PD23.2
9" Diamond Grinder

The PD23.2 floor grinders are constructed according to safety rules and regulations. These technical precautions
should not be removed or changed under any circumstances. While operating the machines the following points
should be followed
The grinders should always be operated with all safety covers and guards in place
During maintenance and repair the grinders must be unplugged and disconnected from the mains. That also
applies to the changing of the diamond tools
The safety ring aids in retaining air borne dust. Lay the ring on the floor, switch off the grinder, once the disc has
stopped turning lower the machine body over the ring, once in place, re-start the grinder
The operator should never leave the machine unattended during operation
Before leaving the machine, all rotary parts should be brought to a standstill
Unplug from the mains before attempting maintenance, repair, cleaning or disc removal
After any maintenance and adjustment, all safety covers must be re-attached
Ear and eye protectors must be worn
Safety shoes with steel caps must be worn
Grinder should be connected to a suitable dust extraction unit whist in use
Dust created from grinding floor coatings is extremely hazardous to health. A dust collector must be used and
should be equipped with suitable filters
Make sure the floor is free and clear or debris and foreign bodies prior to commencing grinding. Anchor screws
and bolts proud of the floor surface should be removed to prevent damage to the machine or grinding disc
Disconnect the grinder from the power supply
After mounting the appropriate tools, the operation of the grinder can begin
The machine is supplied ready for use. To adjust the grinder, loosen the bolt of the rear wheel swinging arm and
change its position in the slots so that the motor axis and disc are 90° level to the floor. Re-tighten the bolts
again
Before starting the machine, raise the disc up from the floor so that the machine is not starting under load. When
switching on the motor
After the motor has reached full speed, lower the grinding head carefully to the floor. If the machine is correctly
adjusted, it is easy to move across the floor. If the machine pulls to the left or right, the machine must be re-
adjusted by changing the position of the rear wheel swing (see above)
Never start the motor while the grinding head is on the floor
Dust emission should be prevented by connecting a dust collector and in line pre-separator
Before finishing the grinding process the machine must be switched off and the tools should be brought to a
standstill by letting them touch the floor
Disconnect from the power supply

SAFETY RULES FOR THE OPERATING THE FLOOR GRINDER

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - ELECTRICAL
Before changing the diamond grinding discs or doing machine maintenance disconnect from the power supply
Tilt the machine onto the back wheels and rest it on the handlebar. Chock up the head so it cannot drop down
The disc is fastened in place via three 8mm allen bolts
Remove the screws with an 8mm Allen key
Check the grinding tool for wear and tear for the next application
Adjust the different heights of the tools by changing the position of the rear wheel swing. The motor axis of the
grinder needs to be 90° to the floor
Before use always check the electrical cable, plug and switch for damage; always have any repairs done before
use; minor electrical faults to the plug, cable or switch are the most frequent cause of equipment failure
Check that the voltage for the machine is matched to the electrical supply; if using a 110 volt machine, a 5 kva
transformer 32amp supply is required
Conform to all Health & Safety, electrical and trade association standards; observe site electrical rules; most
building sites are strictly 110 volts
Do not drag the machine by the cable or try to disconnect it by tugging the cable
Do not use the electric machine in the rain or wet conditions; use an RCD if the environment is damp
Stop working with the machine if there is any sign of electrical faults or overloading
Keep extension cables as short as possible; ensure cables are not left coiled or on a reel; cables, plugs and
sockets should be suitable for site and external work
Always unplug machine when not in use
WARNING! The machine can be a dangerous tool if used incorrectly or carelessly, which can cause serious or fatal
injury to the operator or others. Please read the operator’s manual carefully and make sure you understand the
instructions before using the machine
Always wear: the appropriate PPE
• Approved hearing protection
• Protective goggles or a visor
• Breathing mask
• Wear boots with steel toe-caps and non-slip sole.
• Always wear protective gloves
WARNING! Dust from grinding can cause injuries if inhaled. Use an approved breathing mask. Always work in an
area with good ventilation
