ON/OFF Button
The ON/OFF button is located on the lower left side of the device. Press and hold this button to turn the
device ON and OFF. See Windows Power Management for information on resetting the ON/OFF button
Internal Microphone
The internal microphone is located behind the small microphone icon at the top left of the display.
Front Camera
The front-facing camera is located at the mid- left of the display. This camera can be used with Skype™,
Windows®Movie Maker, etc. Be sure to follow the directions for the camera application being used. To use
the camera to add Scenes, icons, etc. use the CAMERA MENU in the device TOOLBOX.
HOME/TOOLS Key
Select this key once to open a mini-menu of commonly used Tools. Select the TOOLBOX key in the menu to
open the Toolbox.
Select the HOME/TOOLS key twice to bypass the mini-menu and automatically open the TOOLBOX. See the
TOOLS Menu in Help for more information.
Battery Charger Indicator
This LED is in the upper right corner of the display. It is only visible when the battery charger is plugged in. If
the batteries are low, the indicator will flash red. The indicator will be a solid red while the battery is charging
and blue when the battery is fully charged.
Touch Screen
Do not use sharp, pointed objects on the touch screen!
The touch screen is designed to be used with a finger or the stylus that came with the device.
This stylus is made specifically for a capacitive touch screen. Using any other object will harm the touch screen
and may cause the device to stop working.
In addition to the stylus that came with the device, a bundle of six styli are available for purchase in the PRC
Web store, www.prentrom.com . See Products, Keyboards, Keyboard Frames, and Styli.

The touch screen is a liquid crystal display (LCD). Should the display break (unlikely except in extreme
circumstances) and there is contact with the liquid crystal, wash and rinse your skin and thoroughly. Be careful
to avoid splintered glass.

Back of the Device
Rear-Facing Camera
There is a rear-facing camera in the Accent 700 and Accent 700SB. This camera can be used with Skype™,
Windows®Movie Maker, etc. Follow the directions for the camera application being used. To use the camera
for Scenes, icons, etc., use the CAMERA MENU in the device’s Toolbox.
USB Port
A USB flash drive, included with the device, can be used for storage and transfer of files.
Mini USB Port for Wired Computer Access
Use the Mini USB port to connect the device to a computer using a Mini-USB cable.
A & B Switch Ports
If a switch or switches are used to access the device, they should be plugged into the A & B Switch Ports. In
order to use a joystick, Y-1 adapter is needed.
Switches cannot be used with the Accent 700SB unless the optional Scanning Package has been purchased.
Battery Charger
Always use the battery charger included with the device. Other chargers may damage the batteries.
When the battery needs to be charged, warning boxes will be displayed. A low-battery warning will also sound
to signal low batteries.
Battery life will vary from 3.5 to 5.5 hours depending on individual device usage. With heavy device usage,
such as talking, listening to music, using a cell phone and/or computer at the same time, the battery life will be
reduced. Lighter usage will result in a longer battery life.
Charging the Batteries
A full battery charge, from very low or dead batteries to fully charged batteries takes approximately 4 hours.
Plug the battery charger in every night or whenever the low battery warning boxes and/or the Low
Battery LED are displayed.
Information on the current status of the Battery can be found in the Status Area on the display and in the
Battery Menu in the MAINTENANCE MENU.

Headphone Connector
Plug headphones into the Headphone Connector.
IR Setup
Infrared (IR) capability is automatically enabled with the Accent™700. It is a purchased option with the
Accent™700-SB as part of the Scanning Package.
Infrared signals can be learned for almost any appliance that has a remote control. The IR area for the device
is located on the back top of the case on either side of the headphone connector.
IMPORTANT: Facing the front of the Accent, the IR Learning Receiver is on the left side of the
headphone jack on the back of the Accent. The IR Transmitter is on the right side of the headphone
jack.
The following IR functions can be performed using the IR Setup Menu in the Toolbox
Add, modify, delete or rename a device / appliance
Add, change, delete and test IR functions
Add, Modify, Delete or Rename a device / appliance
Add a New Device: Several devices are already setup in the Accent. Additional devices can be added
by selecting Add a Device and following the setup instructions on the display.
Modify, Rename or Delete a Device: Select the device to change using the Up/Down arrows. Once the
appropriate device is found, tap the button for the desired function and follow the instructions on the
display.

Select the device for the function being changed using the Up/Down arrows
Select Modify Selected Device
Select the desired activity and follow the instructions on the display
When instructed point remote control from the appliance at the top of the Accent and press
appropriate button on the remote
IMPORTANT: When teaching the device a new signal or re-learning a signal, be sure the
remote is pointed directly at the IR Learning Receiver on the left side of the headphone jack.

Select the Test Signal button to confirm the signal functions properly
NOTE: The Relearn All Signals will allow each signal for the appliance to be re-learned without re-
entering the menu each time.
Sending IR Signals to an appliance
To send an IR signal from the Accent to a device, select the device remote from the vocabulary screen
and press the desired function. Make sure the IR area is facing towards the appliance receiving the
signal.
Wheelchair Mounting Plate Area
An optional Mounting Plate allows the Accent 700 or Accent 700 SB to be installed on a wheelchair or table
mount.

The built-in Handle Stand acts as both a stand for the device and a handle for carrying it. See Using the Handle
Stand.

Wheelchair Mounting Plate
The Wheelchair Mounting Plate (optional).
Install the Mounting Plate
Remove the three screws from the mounting plate area of the device.
Place the mounting plate over the three holes. Attach the mounting plate using the screws that were included.

Using the Handle Stand
The Handle Stand acts as both a stand for the device and a handle for carrying it.
There are two handle positions: up and down.
Between the up and down handle positions there are two stand positions: a high angle and a medium angle.
How to change the Handle Stand position
Place the device face down. Pull both legs of the Handle Stand out from the case and rotate the stand up or
down a notch at a time to reach the preferred position. Release the stand and firmly push the legs back into
the case to prevent it from moving.
The handle stand screws allow the stand to be moved, but prevents it
from being pulled off the case.

Using the Carry Strap Holders
Carry Straps are optional and are only included with certain products. Carry Straps can be purchased at
www. prentrom.com under product accessories or by calling the PRC Sales Department at (800) 262-1933.

Using an External Computer
Bluetooth capability is automatically enabled with the Accent™700. It is a purchased option with the
Accent™700SB as part of the Scanning Package.
To connect the device to an external computer, a PRC Bluetooth Wireless Adapter or a mini-USB cable is
required, depending on the device.
PRC Bluetooth Wireless Adapter
To connect wirelessly to a computer; use the PRC Bluetooth Wireless Adapter. The adapter is available from
the PRC Website: www.prentrom.com. Select Products, Accessories, and Bluetooth or call the PRC Sales
Department: (330) 262-1933 or (800) 262-1933.
Only one Bluetooth device can be used at time. To connect to an external computer while using a
Bluetooth switch, the switch must be unpaired and then paired with the Wireless Adapter instead.
Before Unplugging the Adapter
Notice that the wireless adapter has a PRC label on one side and a label with a white circle and an arrow
pointing down on the other side. The circle label covers a small switch called the "pair button."
Press the white circle during the set-up process.
Depending on where the USB ports are on the external computer, it may be difficult to reach both the circle
and the device and assistance may be needed.
1. Plug the Bluetooth wireless adapter into the USB port on your computer. Remember where the white
circle is on the adapter. The LED on the adapter may flash for a moment when first plugged in.
2. Make sure the device is “ON”.
3. Select the HOME/TOOLS key on the right side of the display screen or select the key to the
right of the Text Display Area.
4. Select the TOOLBOX key
5. In the Toolbox, open the OUTPUT MENU.
6. Set Output to ON.
7. Set Output Destination to EXTERNAL
8. Set Output Method to Bluetooth.
9. Press the Pair with BT Adapter option.
