Thank you for choosing a Quality Pool and Spa product. This product has been
manufactured using modern production methods and extensive quality assurance
procedures, because our goal is to ensure that you, the customer, are satised
with our products.
Fluidra is continually striving to further develop and improve its range of products;
we therefore reserve the right to make alterations to the form, technical
specications and equipment level of our standard equipment. The information
in this manual is therefore subject to change.
SAFETY
Warning: Please make sure you observe the following safety
instructions.
Failure to observe the safety instructions may
result in fatal injury.
Please read this instruction manual before using the product for
the rst time and keep in a safe place for future reference.

In order to provide a hassle-free experience, we recommend the use of
a qualied technician to complete the installations of our products, and to
ensure that the installation complies with all relevant regulations.
-
Please note - the electrical connection should be completed by a certied
electrician (any non-compliance will result in the warranty being voided).
-
Installations must conform to SANS 10142 and all relevant local by-laws.
-
The pump must be supplied through a residual current device (RCD) with a
rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA
in accordance with IEC 60335-2-41.
-
Do not modify the terminal lid and/or box of the pump.
-
The motor is initially supplied with an electrical cable which may be used
for testing purposes only (please follow the guidelines in SANS 10142 for
installation).
-
The pump must be installed in a weatherproof, well ventilated enclosure.
-
Allow sufcient space around the pump for ventilation and do not obstruct
the motor fan.
-
It is imperative that you do not store pool chemicals in this enclosure.
-
The pump motor’s Ingress Protection (IP) rating is indicated on the information
plate situated on the pump. Please note - the pump is not submersible.
-
Never run the pump dry, i.e. without water in the pre-lter.
-
This product is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and

knowledge, unless they are under supervision or instruction concerning use
of the product by a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised, at all times to ensure they do not play with or
near the product.

Only a qualied person/s, should perform repairs and/or maintenance
work on the pump and motor.
-
-
APPLICATIONS
-
Carefully select the recommended pump to suit your pool.
See below the recommended pump and pool sizing chart.
-
The pump is self-priming and may be installed to a maximum height
of 300mm above the weir level.
-
If you choose to install your pump below the weir level, be sure to connect
a shut-off valve on your suction pipe between the pool weir/skimmer and
the pump. This will prevent your pump motor from being ooded and/or
damaged when you open the pump lid to clean the leaf basket.
-
The pump is intended for residential pool and spa use with a
maximum water temperature of 40°C.
PUMP INSTALLATION AND INSTRUCTIONS
-
Position the pump on a rm, at, level surface that is not exposed to ooding.
-
A minimum of 50mm PVC pipe to be used on the suction and return lines.
-
If solvent weld is used in the installation, allow 24 hours to dry, before running
the pump for the rst time.
-
A certied electrician must do the electrical connection
in accordance with SANS 10142:
-
The voltage of the mains supply to the pool distribution board must
correspond to the indicated voltage of the product.

Follow all other guidelines in SANS 10142 for installation.
-
Ensure that there is no strain on the electrical cable.
-
Before starting the motor for the rst time or after the pump has been
drained, open the lid of the pump leaf basket and add water to ll the basket.
-
Replace the lid and tighten by hand, ensuring that the lid O-ring / gasket is
tted correctly on the pump body.
-
Do not over tighten the pump lid retainer(s).
-
Weekly pool maintenance is required. It is important that the weir/skimmer
baskets and/or any leaves or debris are removed from the pump basket
before backwashing.
-
The backwash and rinse procedure must be done, as a minimum, every week
to maintain water clarity and ensure adequate ltration of your pool.
OPERATION, MAINTENANCE AND CARE
o
Switch the pump off before doing any maintenance,
cleaning or other work.
o
Only perform maintenance/care work that is
mentioned in the instruction manual.
-
All other work must be performed by a qualied person.
-
In the interest of safety and reliability, only use genuine Quality Pool and
Spa spare parts, in the event that pirate spare parts are used, the warranty
will become null and void.
-
Never run the pump dry, i.e. without water in pump wet end,
as this will damage the pump.
-
It is important to clean the pump leaf basket regularly.
-
Clean plastic parts with a damp cloth. Cleaning agents can cause
damage to the plastic parts.
-
Do not spray down the electrical components with water.
-
The pump is equipped with a thermal overload protection. If overload occurs
during operation, the built in overload protection automatically deactivates
the pump. The pump will switch on automatically after a cooling period of
approximately 20 (twenty) minutes. Ensure the cause of the overload is
identied and addressed . If the pump remains on a continuous locked situation
causing thermal overload, the motor may eventually damage and burn out.

Note that certain parts are subject to normal wear and tear, even when used
properly and must be replaced in due time, depending on type and duration
of use. These include but are not limited to:
-
Impeller
-
Shaft Seal
-
Motor Bearings
-
Pump lid and O-ring
-
Pump basket
-
Diffuser
-
All work listed in this manual must be performed regularly. If this maintenance
work cannot be performed by the end-user, an authorised person must be
commissioned to perform this work. If these operations are neglected,
faults may arise which are the responsibility of the user. These include:
-
Damage to the motor, due to untimely or inadequate maintenance or cleaning of
the cooling fan cover
-
Corrosive or other damage caused by incorrect storage of
chemicals in pump enclosure
-
Damage due to the use of spare parts which are not original Fluidra parts
-
Damage due to maintenance and repair work not carried out by qualied technicians
-
To avoid personal injury do not have the pool pump running whilst there are
people in the pool/spa.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1.
Pump not performing efciently:
-
Blocked basket/s
-
Blocked impeller
-
Blocked suction pipe from weir to pump
-
Diffuser worn/blocked
-
Pool cleaner connected without skimmer valve
-
Filter blocked (backwash regularly)
-
Check pool cleaner and hoses for blockages/leaks

Pump sucking air:

Check for damaged pool cleaner pipes
-
Check for leak underground between weir and pump
-
Pump lid O-ring faulty
-
Loose tting on suction thread of pump
-
Check O-ring on barrel union
-
Body or Lid damaged/cracked

Motor humming but not turning:
IMPORTANT:
SWITCH POWER OFF
-
Possibility of blown capacitor or worn bearings, call a qualied person/s
-
Possible debris in the impeller and/or diffuser causing motor lock

Motor tripping earth leakage:
-
Water inside motor or burned out
-
Damaged cables
5. Motor overheating:
-
Poor ventilation, fan installed too close to wall (minimum of 5cm
unobstructed)
-
Wrong impeller tted
-
Wrong capacitor tted
-
Mechanical overload from poor quality bearings or impeller, or diffuser
blocked with grass or other solids
-
Check Ampère (amp) reading against name plate specs

Pump not priming properly:
-
Installed too high above water level of pool (maximum of 300mm above
weir)
-
Sucking air
-
If pump is installed too high above the pool level, t a spring loaded non return
valve into suction line coming up from underground before entering pump

This product range conforms to the relevant Compulsory Specications.
WARRANTY
The product must be installed, used and maintained with the care described in
this instruction manual. Any damage caused by non-observation of the safety,
operating and maintenance instructions is the sole responsibility of the user.
This applies in particular to:

Incorrect electrical connection (voltage)

Inadequately dimensioned power cable
-
Improper use of the product
-
Product modications not approved by Fluidra

Use of non-genuine parts or accessories not approved by Fluidra

Insufcient pool maintenance in cleaning and removing debris from weir and pump
baskets

Insufcient pool maintenance in backwashing and rinsing of the lter (please follow
the manufacturers guidelines for your lter type)

Water chemistry not kept in the correct balance for the pool type
-
Inadequate ventilation in pump enclosure
-
Storage of chemicals inside the pump enclosure
WARRANTY ON PUMPS
The warranty of the Quality Supero 2 Pool and Spa pumps are effective from
the date of purchase by the end user. The warranty on this product will apply
on condition that the product is installed and operated in accordance with the
instructions supplied, and used under normal operating conditions.
The warranty will become null and void due to ooding, misuse, abuse and/or
neglect. We recommend the use of a qualied technician to do the installations
of any of the Quality Pool and Spa products.
PUMPS WARRANTY TERMS
The full range of Quality Supero 2 Pool and Spa pumps carry a 2 (two) year
manufacturing defect warranty from date of purchase, with an additional 12-month
on the motor winding and the pump body.

DONE BY A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
