Operation
WARNING
Special precautions and handling instructions are contained in this user guide and should be strictly adhered to for safe and reliable operation.
WARNING

The product should not be used outside the operating temperature limits. Refer to the product technical specifi ations for the operating limits
for the product.

Protect the product from water, moisture and dust. The presence of electricity near water can be dangerous.

Do not directly look into the light, it can cause harm to your eyes.
CAUTION
Do not look at the LEDs with a magnifying glass or any otheroptical instrument that may concentrate the light output.
Maintenance

The fitting of non-approved parts or accessories, or the carrying out of non-approved alterations or servicing can be dangerous and could
affect the safety of the product. It may also invalidate the terms and conditions of the product warranty.

Q-Lion Operation & Charging
Power
• Turn on: Single Tap Power Button
• Turn off: Double Tap Power Button
• Power button operation & indicator lights "sleep" after 10 seconds of inactivity—tap Power once to awake lamp & resume controls.
Intensity Control
•Change Intensity: Wake up from device sleep. Briefly tap once & wait for intensity to dim to next lower level.
• Battery-only operation output levels:
100% 75% 50% 25% 10%
• After 10% intensity, single tap shuts off lamp. Additional tap turns back on to
100%.
• While plugged in, the lamp can operate while charging. Intensity options reduce for Q20 & Q10 lamps. Q5 lamps retain all options.
• Plugged-in operation output levels:
Q20: 50%, 25%, 10%
Q10: 75%, 50%, 25%, 10%
Q5: 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, 10%
• Q-Lion Lamps will charge to full in about 4 hours.
• Q-Lion Lights each last for about 4 hours at 100% Output. 10 hours at 10% output.
Color Temperaure (CCT) control
Change CCT: Long Press Power Button
• Available CCT options: 3000K, 4300K, 5600K
Travel Mode
•KILL button: Press & hold with a pen tip to disable lamp functions for travel.
• Plug in charger to reactivate lamp.

Reset Lamp
•RST button: Press & hold with a pen tip to reset lamp firmware to default 100% output @ 5600K CCT (in cases of software malfunction).
Charging
• To charge: plug in included QC3.0 charger with a microUSB cable.
The power light blinks while detecting the charger. Then a blinking indicator light shows the current charge level.
• Battery level indicator lights: 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%
(Low battery = 25% indicator rapid flashes)
• QC3.0 USB chargers rated 9V/2A or 12V/1.5A must be used to charge lamp;
standard 5V USB chargers do not work.
• If there is insufficient charging voltage from a standard power adapter, the Power button light flashes quickly, then turns off.
• When the lamp is illuminated and is being plugged in, the lamp will briefly flicker when changing over to DC Power.
Battery health tips
• Frequent full discharge of lamp battery to 0% and/or frequently leaving charge at 100% for extended time periods rapidly deteriorates battery life.
• Frequent use of plugged-in operation rapidly deteriorates battery life.
• For maximum battery health in long term inactive storage, charge or discharge battery to 50%.

Tips and Tricks for Storing Your Q-Lions
When storing your Q-Lion lights for more than 3 months, charge/discharge them down to 50%.
Do not store fully charged or discharged.
When returning to use after a long absence, the Q-Lions may take an extra long time to start charging if they have completely depleted.

Q-Lion V3 Update Info
If you purchased your light before 2020, and you do not have the 4300k Intensity, this update is available for you.
The new Q-Lion Software V3 now has a 4300k color temperature and the ability to operate while charging.
Lamps that are able to update with the Q-Lion Update Cable are V3 lamps that have the KILL and RST buttons on the side.
If your lamp does not have these buttons on the side, they are V2, your lamp cannot be Upgraded with the Cable. Your lamps must be sent into Quasar Science.
Please see additional instructions below.
V1 Lamps that are a different shape are not able to be updated.
There are several ways to get the new update. The Update requires a special cable in order complete the update.

2. If you are in the Los Angeles area, bring your lamps into Quasar Science. We will update them on the spot in the shop, and you can be on your way.
3. Contact Quasar Science Rental department. We are sending out the Q-Lion Update cable as long as you pay for the shipping.
A $50 replacement fee will be charged for unreturned /lost cables.
4. Ship your lamps to Quasar Science. We will update your lamps and ship them back. Return shipping will be charged to you or you can provide a return shipping
label. Please affix the label below.

Scan the QR Code and fill out the RMA form. We will email you back an RMA number. Please do not send your lamps until you receive an RMA
IMPORTANT
DO NOT SEND CHARGERS OR USB CABLES.
Battery lamp updates may take up to 2 weeks. They are done on a first come, first serve basis.

Using the Q-Lion Update Cable, update your light from V2 software to V3
Q-Lion Update Instructions
1. Please download the Update Utility at QuasarScience.com/support
2. Plug in your Q-Lion Update Cable.
3. Run the Utility. Make sure you are in Q-Lion Mode. If you are in Linear Lamp Update Utility, click here to endure you are in Q-lion Update Utility.
4. Press the "Check Version" button
5. Press "Download"

9. After updating the lamp, Press Restart to update the same model lamp.

During Q-Lion Update, I get the error "Device Update failed"
Solutions:
Please check the log file and see if you are getting the following error:
(ST): (API) ERROR : Cannot communicate with the tool.
Wrong tool selection or check tool power supply or check that a previous session is closed, "
If so, please try the following:
Ensure that you have a 2nd Generation lamp that has the RST and KILL Buttons. (The update is for these versions only)
Be sure you are using the Q-Lion Update Cable provided by Quasar Science

Troubleshooting Q-Lion
Power button will not turn the light on
• The battery is completely drained. Connect to a QC 3.0 charger to charge the light.
• The battery is in Kill/Travel mode. Then plug back into the QC 3.0 Charger.
Charging indicator lights flash when trying to turn on
The battery is drained. Connect to a QC 3.0 charger to charge the light.
Power light flashes quickly when starting to charge
Q-Lion lights must be charged with a QC 3.0 charger. When the charger is first plugged in, the light will slowly blink to confirm the charger is compatible and will then
begin charging. If the light flashes quickly, then the charger is not compatible.
When charging, the light will not indicate it's charging
With lithium ion batteries, they do not like to be fully discharged. When this happens, it will take a long charging cycle to get them to respond. Please leave it on the
charger overnight and see if it responds. If not, please contact us.
When updating the Q-Lion, I get the error "Device Update Failed"
Please check the log file and see if you are getting the following error:
(ST): (API) ERROR : Cannot communicate with the tool.
Wrong tool selection or check tool power supply or check that a previous session is closed.
If so, please try the following:
• Ensure that you have a 2nd Generation light that has the RST and KILL Buttons. These buttons are not on our 1st Generation.

Warranty
In order for a product to be covered under Quasar Sciences warranty, the customer must provide proof of purchase. However, please note that this warranty is
transferable.

Quasar Science will pay for:
The replacement parts, repair and/or labor costs to correct defects in materials and workmanship.
*Service must be provided by Quasar Science or an Authorized Quasar Science Service Center*
Quasar Science will not pay for:
Damage resulting from accident, misuse or abuse. Acts of God. Any failure that occurs for any other reason than materials and workmanship. Any shipping
orhandling costs.
Disclaimer of implied warranties / limitations of remedies:
Implied warranties, including the extent applicable warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are excluded to the extent legally permissible.
Any implied warranties that may be imposed by law are limited to 3 years or the shortest period allowed by law. Some states, provinces or countries do not allow
limitations or exclusions on how long an implied warranty of merchantability or fitness lasts, the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.
If this product fails to work as warranted, customer's sole and exclusive remedy shall be repair or replacement according to the terms of this limited warranty. Quasar
Science does not assume any responsibility for incidental or consequential damages. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights
which vary from state to state, province to province or country to country.
