[Usage Scenario]
There are two methods to update the EDA-253’s playback content.
One is STANDALONE, another is through a WiFi network and updates from the
RS-CMS.
For the RS-CMS method, you will need an internet connection to the server.
[STANDALONE: Update content via USB]
If you need to replace the playback content via a USB flash drive, please follow the
steps below
Step 1: Create a new folder named "EDA_IMPORT" in the root directory of the
USB flash drive, and place the image files in this folder. The playback order will be
played in ascending alphabetical order.
Step 2: Create a new text file named "user_import.conf" in the root directory of the
USB flash drive.
Step 3: Write the following content to the text file, please make sure to provide all of
the items. Keep SSID, PSK and CMS_SERVER values as empty if using
STANDALONE method.

The "x" parameter in the text file is the changing interval between images,
with "seconds" as the unit. For example, duration= 20, which means changing
images every 20 seconds.
The "r" parameter in the text file is the rotation degree of the Info page, and
the rotation direction parameter for 0, 1, 2, and 3 is 90°, 180°, 270° and 360°
respectively.

Step 4: After removing the USB flash drive from the computer normally, connect it to
the USB port of EDA-253C on the power off.
Step 5: After powering up EDA-253C and seeing the RS Logo twice (the Logo will
appear in about 2 minutes), it indicates that the USB is detected, will start playing
images imported from the USB. At this moment, you can unplug the USB.

[RS-CMS: Wireless network setting ]
To set up a WiFi connection for EDA, please follow the steps below:
Step 1: Please add a text file named "wpa_supplicant.conf".
Step 2: Write the following content to the text file

● ssid：The name of the WiFi you want to connect to.
● psk：WiFi password
● key_mgmt：Password encryption type, using “WPA-PSK" if you
are not sure encryption type
● priority：Priority of WiFi connection (the higher the number, the
higher the priority)
Step 3: Turn off the power of EDA-253C, remove the Sytem SD-card, connect
it to the computer to read, and copy "wpa_supplicant.conf" to the "boot" folder.
Step 4：After correctly removing the System SD-card from the computer, connecting
it back to the EDA-253C and powering it on, the WiFi setting will automatically

connect after the boot is complete. You can check whether the IP address is
displayed through the Info page displayed at boot.
[RS-CMS: Register to RS-CMS]
If you need to register to RS-CMS(Please ask our sales contact windows to get the
RS-CMS username/password), please follow the steps below:
Step 1：Write down the "UUID" value through the Info page message displayed when
booting up.
Step 2：Add a text file named "epd-cms.csv".
Step 3：Refer to the following sample content and paste the correct message content
in the "epd-cms.csv" file

this your device’s UUID Player Name
Step 4：Confirm whether you have connected to the Internet via WiFi, and return
"epd-cms.csv" to the customer service unit " [email protected] ".
Step 5：The "Player Management" page in the RS-CMS page can be used to confirm
whether the registration is successful.
[RS-CMS: Produce and publish content via RS-CMS]
Step 1：Log in to your CMS account and select "New Design" to create content for
playback.

Step 2：Please select "other players" for "Support Player Type".
Step 3：Click "Screen Profile" at the top of the screen to select the screen resolution
and placement angle of EDA-253C.
Step 4：Upload the image file to be used to RS-CMS through the "Upload File" on the
left.

Step 5：Drag the uploaded Image file to the black area in the middle of the screen,
and zoom to full size.
● Note that the image file size and file format must be
○ Dimensions: 3200 x 1800
○ File format: BMP, JPG, PNG, PPM
Step 6: If you need multiple images to continue playing, you only need to drag the
image to the same area, and confirm to add it to the playlist.
Click the right mouse button in the image area and select "Playlist", you can
define the duration of each image by modifying the Duration parameter of each
image.

Step 7: After the content design is completed, you can click "Save", then click to "go
to scheduler" to enter the "Plan" page.
Step 8: Find the name of the newly saved Design on the left side of the screen, and
drag it to the calendar in the middle of the screen.

Step 9: Because the current EPD version does not support time scheduling, you only
need to confirm that the Design is moved to the calendar and click "Save" to save
the plan, and click "go to Publish" to start publish.
Step 10: Select the saved Plan and click "Next".

Step 11: Select the EDA-253C you want to play, click "Next" and then click "Proceed"
to complete Publish.
Step 12: After publishing is completed, confirm whether the screen of EDA-253C has
been switched to RapidSignage Logo, indicating that the content is correctly
published to EDA-253C.
