1 Einleitung
1.1 Informationen zu dieser
Anleitung
Bei diesem Dokument handelt es sich um
einen vorläufigen Stand der Installations-
anleitung. Bitte beachten Sie den jeweili-
gen Versionsstand und das Datum.
Diese Anleitung beschreibt die Konfigura-
tion und Befestigung des WiFi-Adapters.
Der WiFi-Adapter ist für die folgenden
Geräte verfügbar:

Lesen Sie die Anleitung vor dem Aufbau
durch. Die Anleitung ermöglicht einen si-
cheren Umgang mit den Geräten und eine
bestimmungsgemäße Installation.
Die Abbildungen in dieser Anleitung sind
beispielhaft und können vom Bausatz ab-
weichen.
2 Sicherheit
2.1 Allgemeine Sicherheitshinweise
Das Gerät ist so konstruiert,
dass es bei vorschriftsge-
mäßer Installation keine
Gefahr darstellt. Die richtige
Installation des Gerätes
wird in dieser Anleitung be-
schrieben.
nBeachten Sie die Sicherheitshinweise
in der Installationsanleitung des Gerä-
tes, an dem der WiFi-Adapter ange-
schlossen wird.
nBeachten Sie die jeweiligen landesspe-
zifischen und lokalen Vorschriften und
Normen Ihres Landes.
nSchließen Sie das Gerät ausschließlich
entsprechend der Installationsanlei-
tung und der Angaben auf dem Typen-
schild an.
2.2 Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch
Der WiFi-Adapter ist ausschließlich für die
Verwendung in Groß- und Gewerbekü-
chen vorgesehen.
Das WiFi-Adapter ermöglicht die Anbin-
dung an kabellose Netzwerke und die Ver-
stärkung der Signalreichweite.
3 Produktbeschreibung
HINWEIS
Der WiFi-Adapter besitzt eine FCC-
Zulassung.
Mit dem WiFi-Adapter kann der Funkti-
onsumfang der Geräte um 2 Funktionen
erweitert werden:
a. Anbindung an einen WiFi-Accesspoint
[ Bild 01].
b. Repeater-Modus [ Bild 02].

Der WiFi-Adapter hat drei Status-LEDs.
Die aufleuchtenden Farben geben Auf-
schluss über den Status der entsprechen-
den Funktionen:

4 Installation
4.1 WiFi-Adapter montieren
GEFAHR
Hohe Spannungen bei Anschluss an
das Stromnetz
Lebensgefahr bei Arbeiten mit
Hochspannung.
nTrennen Sie die Verbindung zur
Energieversorgung.
nStellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät
spannungslos ist.
Montage WiFi-Adapter

aDas Gerät, an dem der WiFi-Adapter
angeschlossen werden soll, ist ausge-
schaltet und spannungsfrei.
aDer Elektroraum ist geöffnet.
1. Schrauben Sie die beiden Antennen auf
den WiFi-Adapter.
2. Stechen Sie die 20 mm breite Perfora-
tion auf der Rückseite des Gerätes mit
einem geeigneten Werkzeug aus. Je
nach verwendeter Option, kann die
Position der Perforation variieren.
Wenn alle perforierten Löcher belegt
sind, bohren Sie ein neues Loch
[ Bild 04].
3. Bringen Sie die Kabelverschraubung
mit dem Durchmesser 20 mm an der
ausgebrochenen Position an. Führen
Sie das Kabel mit beiden Steckern von
außen durch die Gerätewand in das
Gerät ein.
4. Stecken Sie das Strombegrenzer-Mo-
dul auf das Kabel des Adapters
[ Bild 05].
5. Entfernen Sie den Stecker auf der I/O
Platine A2 und stecken sie ihn auf das
Strombegrenzer-Modul [ Bild 06].
6. Stecken Sie den Strombegrenzer auf
die Platine. Entfernen Sie gegebenen-
falls den Kabelbinder links oben. Ste-
cken Sie das Ethernet-Kabel auf
[ Bild 07].
7. Führen Sie die Einrichtung des WiFi-
Adapters (siehe 4.2 WiFi-Adapter ein-
richten) durch.
8. Rollen Sie die Kabel außerhalb des Ge-
rätes auf.
9. Reinigen Sie die Klebefläche mit dem
Reinigungstuch. Bringen Sie den WiFi-
Adapter an der entsprechenden Positi-
on an [ Bild 08].
>Der WiFi-Adapter kann an ausge-
wählten Positionen angeklebt oder
verschraubt werden. Empfohlen
wird die Montage mittig an der
Rückseite des Untergestelles oder
die Montage an der Wand.

durch die Gerätewand in das Gerät ein.
4. Stecken Sie das Strombegrenzer-Mo-
dul auf das Kabel des Adapters
[ Bild 05].
5. Entfernen Sie den Stecker auf der I/O
Platine A2 und stecken sie ihn auf das
Strombegrenzer-Modul [ Bild 06].
6. Stecken Sie den Strombegrenzer auf
die Platine. Entfernen Sie gegebenen-
falls den Kabelbinder links oben. Ste-
cken Sie das Ethernet-Kabel auf
[ Bild 07].
7. Führen Sie die Einrichtung des WiFi-
Adapters (siehe 4.2 WiFi-Adapter ein-
richten) durch.
8. Rollen Sie die Kabel außerhalb des Ge-
rätes auf.
9. Reinigen Sie die Klebefläche mit dem
Reinigungstuch. Bringen Sie den WiFi-
Adapter an der entsprechenden Positi-
on an [ Bild 08].
>Der WiFi-Adapter kann an ausge-

3. Bringen Sie die Kabelverschraubung
mit dem passenden Durchmesser,
20mm oder 25mm, an der ausgebro-
chenen Position an. Führen Sie das Ka-
bel mit beiden Steckern von außen
durch die Gerätewand in das Gerät ein
[ Bild 10(2)].
4. Stecken Sie das Strombegrenzer-Mo-
dul auf das Kabel des Adapters
[ Bild 05].
5. Entfernen Sie den Stecker auf der I/O
Platine A2 und stecken sie ihn auf das
Strombegrenzer-Modul [ Bild 06].

6. Stecken Sie den Strombegrenzer auf
die Platine. Entfernen Sie gegebenen-
falls den Kabelbinder links oben. Ste-
cken Sie das Ethernet-Kabel auf
[ Bild 07].
7. Führen Sie die Einrichtung des WiFi-
Adapters (siehe 4.2 WiFi-Adapter ein-
richten) durch.
8. Rollen Sie die Kabel außerhalb des Ge-
rätes auf.
9. Reinigen Sie die Klebefläche mit dem
Reinigungstuch. Bringen Sie den WiFi-
Adapter an der entsprechenden Positi-
on an [ Bild 08].

Montage WiFi-Adapter

aDas Gerät, an dem der WiFi-Adapter
angeschlossen werden soll, ist ausge-
schaltet und spannungsfrei.
aDer Elektroraum ist geöffnet.
1. Schrauben Sie die beiden Antennen auf
den WiFi-Adapter.
2. Stechen Sie eine der Perforationen für
die Kabelverschraubung mit einem ge-
eigneten Werkzeug aus [ Bild 11].
3. Bringen Sie die Kabelverschraubung an
der ausgebrochenen Position an. Füh-
ren Sie das Kabel mit beiden Steckern
durch die Kabelverschraubung.
4. Stecken Sie die Stromversorgung auf
der I/O-Karte an [ Bild 12].
5. Führen Sie die Einrichtung des WiFi-
Adapters (siehe 4.2 WiFi-Adapter ein-
richten) durch.
6. Stecken Sie das Ethernet-Kabel auf der
Innenseite der Bedienblende auf die
CPU-Platine [ Bild 13] oder am äu-
ßeren Ethernet-Port an [ Bild 14].
7. Führen Sie das Kabel aus dem Gerät
heraus. Rollen Sie die Kabel außerhalb
des Gerätes auf.
8. Bringen Sie den WiFi-Adapter an einer
geeigneten Position an [ Bild 08].
>Der WiFi-Adapter kann an ausge-
wählten Positionen angeklebt oder
verschraubt werden. Empfohlen
wird die Montage mittig an der
Rückseite des Untergestelles oder
die Montage an der Wand.
4.2 WiFi-Adapter einrichten
GEFAHR
Hohe Spannungen bei Anschluss an
das Stromnetz
Lebensgefahr bei Arbeiten mit
Hochspannung.
nArbeiten am eingeschaltetem Gerät
mit geöffneten Elektroraum dürfen
nur von geschulten Personal
durchgeführt werden.
nArbeiten am eingeschalteten Gerät
dürfen nur mit entsprechender
Schutzkleidung durchgeführt
werden.
4.2.1 Einsatz als WiFi-Client-Adapter
aDer Elektroraum ist geöffnet.
aDas Gerät ist eingeschaltet.
1. Schließen Sie das Ethernet-Kabel des
WiFi-Adapters an einen Computer an.
2. Beachten Sie, dass das WiFi am Com-
puter während der Konfiguration de-
aktiviert ist.

1. Öffnen Sie in einem Webbrowser die
Adresse https://192.168.11.1 oder eine
andere zuvor eingestellte IP-Adresse.
Akzeptieren Sie die notwendigen Zer-
tifikate.
2. Geben Sie den Benutzernamen und das
Passwort in der Maske ein. Standard-
mäßig ist der Benutzername
root und
das Passwort
Rational [ Bild 15].
>Betätigen Sie die Schaltfläche

HINWEIS
Initial-Passwort ändern um
Missbrauch zu vermeiden
Setzen Sie bei der ersten Konfiguration
ein neues Passwort im Menü System /
Administration ein neues Passwort.
Adapter mit einem WiFi-Accesspoint
verbinden
HINWEIS
Netzwerkart bei Verbindung muss
beachtet werden
Der WiFi-Adapter kann nicht in einem
Captive Portal (z.B. einem Gäste-WiFi)
oder einem WPA2-Enterprise basierten
WiFi-Netzwerk eingesetzt werden.
1. Betätigen Sie im Menü Netz-
werk/WiFi die Schaltfläche
Suche
[ Bild 16].
2. Wählen Sie das gewünschte Netzwerk.
Bestätigen Sie das Netzwerk mit der
Schaltfläche
Netzwerk beitreten .
3. Geben Sie in der Eingabezeile
WPA
Schlüssel
das WiFi-Passwort ein
[ Bild 17]. Bestätigen Sie die Einga-
be mit der Schaltfläche
Absenden .
4. Bestätigen Sie die Eingabe mit der
Schaltfläche
Speichern .
5. Bestätigen Sie mit der Schaltfläche
Speichern & Anwenden .
>Die Signalstärke des gewählten Wi-
Fis wird in der Übersicht angezeigt
[ Bild 18]. Wurde das Passwort
falsch eingegeben, erscheint in der
Übersicht 0%. Der Vorgang muss
ab Punkt 1 wiederholt werden. Die
Einstellungen könne durch Betäti-
gen der Schaltfläche
Bearbeiten ge-
ändert werden.
6. Führen Sie einen Test durch. Öffnen
Sie in Ihrem Browser eine beliebige
Web-Adresse.
7. Verbinden Sie das Ethernet-Kabel mit
der Ethernet-Schnittstelle am Gerät.
8. Schließen Sie den Elektroraum.
9. Aktivieren Sie in den Netzwerkeinstel-
lungen vom Gerät DHCP.
10. Führen Sie einen Neustart des Gerätes
durch.
>> Das Gerät wird mit dem WiFi verbun-
den.
1. Aktivieren Sie in den Einstellungen des
Gerätes die Option ConnectedCoo-
king.
>> Sie erhalten einen Aktivierungscode,
um das Gerät in ConnectedCooking
registrieren zu können. Weitere Infor-
mationen zu ConnectedCooking fin-
den Sie im ConnectedCooking-Hand-
buch.

4.2.2 Einsatz als Repeater zur
Erweiterung bestehender WiFi-
Abdeckung
HINWEIS
Repeater-Modus benötigt permanente
Stromversorgung
Damit der Repeater-Modus genutzt
werden kann, muss das Gerät mit dem
angeschlossenen WiFi-Adapter
eingeschaltet sein.

Repeater-Modus
Im Repeater-Modus kann nur eine
begrenzte Geräteanzahl mit dem WiFi-
Adapter verbunden werden:

Geräteanzahl verbundener Geräte im
Repeater-Modus
Im Repeater-Modus kann nur eine
begrenzte Geräteanzahl mit dem WiFi-
Adapter verbunden werden:

Geräte
Der WiFi-Adapter dient in diesem Be-
triebsmodus zur Erweiterung der Abde-
ckung eines bestehenden WiFi-Netzwer-
kes. Dabei stellt der WiFi-Adapter zusätz-
lich zum bestehenden Netzwerk ein eige-
nes kabelloses Netzwerk bereit. Dieses
verfügt über eine separate SSID, ein sepa-
rates Passwort und stellt mittels eigenem
DHCP-Dienst Adressen aus dem Adress-
bereich 192.168.2.2 – 192.168.2.254 zur
Verfügung.
Voraussetzungen
aDer Elektroraum ist geöffnet.
aDas Gerät ist eingeschaltet.
aDie Einstellungen zum }Einsatz als
WiFi-Client-Adapter sind vorgenom-
men.
1. Schließen Sie das Ethernet-Kabel des
WiFi-Adapters an einen Computer an.
2. Beachten Sie, dass das WiFi am Com-
puter während der Konfiguration de-
aktiviert ist.
Einloggen
1. Öffnen Sie in einem Webbrowser die
Adresse https://192.168.11.1 oder eine
andere zuvor eingestellte IP-Adresse.
Akzeptieren Sie die notwendigen Zer-
tifikate.
2. Geben Sie den Benutzernamen und
das Passwort in der Maske ein. Stan-
dardmäßig ist der Benutzername
root
und das Passwort Rational
[ Bild 15].

3. Wählen Sie den Reiter
WiFi Verschlüs-
selung
an. Wählen Sie die Schaltfläche
rechts neben dem Passwort-Feld an,
um das voreingestellte Passwort sicht-
bar zu machen [ Bild 21]. Notieren
Sie sich das Passwort an einem siche-
ren Ort. Bestätigen Sie die Eingaben
mit der Schaltfläche
Speichern .
>Im WiFi-Überblick erscheint ein
neues Netzwerk [ Bild 22].
4. Bestätigen Sie mit der Schaltfläche
Speichern & Anwenden .
5. Testen Sie die Verbindung. Stecken Sie
das Ethernet-Kabel ab und verbinden
Sie den Laptop mit dem neuen WiFi.
Geben Sie die SSID und das im vorhe-
rigen Schritt notierte Passwort voll-
ständig ein.
>Eine Webseite kann geöffnet wer-
den.
6. Schließen Sie das Ethernet-Kabel im
Gerät an.
7. Schließen Sie den Elektroraum.
>> Das erzeugte WiFi kann von anderen
WiFi-Adaptern und Geräten im WiFi-
Client-Modus verwendet werden. Da-
zu muss die Konfiguration mit der er-
stellten SSID und dem notierten Pass-
wort durchgeführt werden.
4.2.3 IP-Adresse ändern
HINWEIS
Verbindungstest schlägt trotz
ausreichender Signalstärke fehl
Wenn der WiFi-Adapter die identische
IP-Adresse wie der Accesspoint besitzt,
schlägt der Verbindungstest trotz guter
Signalstärke und korrekter
Konfigurationseinstellungen des WiFi-
Netzwerks fehl.
Beheben Sie den IP-Adressenkonflikt:
nPrüfen Sie die am Accesspoint
eingestellte IP-Adresse.
nÄndern Sie die am WiFi-Adapter
eingestellte IP-Adresse.
1. Loggen Sie sich in das Menü ein.
2. Stellen Sie im Hauptmenü unter
Menü
– System – LAN IP-Adresse
eine an-
derer IP-Adresse ein.
3. Folgen Sie den Anweisungen auf dem
Bildschirm.
>Verwenden Sie zum Zugriff auf das
Web-Interface des WiFi-Adapters
die neu eingestellte IP-Adresse.
>> Wiederholen Sie den Verbindungstest.
4.2.4 WiFi-Adapter testen
HINWEIS
Testen Sie die Verbindung des WiFi-
Adapters. Wurden falsche Einstellungen
getroffen, müssen die Einstellungen
angepasst oder der WiFi-Adapter
zurückgesetzt werden.
nNutzen Sie zum Zurücksetzen des
WiFi-Adapters den Magneten (Reed-
Kontakt).

4.2.5 Konfiguration des WiFi-Adapters
über das bereitgestellte Funknetz
Im Repeater-Modus sind Anpassungen an
der Konfiguration über das bereitgestellte
Funknetz kabellos möglich. Führen Sie da-
zu von einem mit dem bereitgestellten
Funknetz verbundenen Endgerät den Lo-
gin durch (siehe }Einsatz als Repeater zur
Erweiterung bestehender WiFi-Abde-
ckung). Nehmen Sie die Anpassungen vor.
4.3 Zurücksetzen auf
Werkseinstellung
Der WiFi-Adapter wird durch die Verwen-
dung eines Magneten in den Ausliefe-
rungszustand zurückgesetzt. Halten Sie
zum Zurücksetzen des WiFi-Adapters den
Magneten kurz in die Mitte zwischen die
beiden Antennen oberhalb der Leuchtdi-
oden, bis diese gleichzeitig aufblinken.
Warten Sie dann einige Sekunden und be-
ginnen Sie dann erneut mit der Konfigura-
tion.
4.4 Aktualisierung der Firmware
aDer WiFi-Adapter ist mit dem Compu-
ter verbunden.
aAuf dem Computer liegt eine Firmwa-
re-Datei mit der Endung *.bin.
1. Holen Sie sich die aktuelle Firmware
über den RATIONAL Kundendienst
und über das Servicepartner-Portal.

1. Öffnen Sie in einem Webbrowser die
Adresse https://192.168.11.1 oder eine
andere zuvor eingestellte IP-Adresse.
Akzeptieren Sie die notwendigen Zer-
tifikate.
2. Geben Sie den Benutzernamen und
das Passwort in der Maske ein. Stan-
dardmäßiger Benutzername ist
root
und das Passwort Rational
[ Bild 15].

1 Introduction
1.1 Information on this manual
This document is a preliminary version of
the installation manual. Please note the rel-
evant version and date.
This manual describes the configuration
and mounting of the WiFi adapter. The
WiFi adapter is available for the following
units:
nVarioCookingCenter 112T
nVarioCookingCenter 112+
nVarioCookingCenter 112L
nVarioCookingCenter 211
nVarioCookingCenter 311
niVario
niVario Pro
Read the manual before assembly. The
manual is there to ensure that you use the
units safely and install them properly.
The illustrations in this manual are ex-
amples only and may differ from the as-
sembly kit.
2 Safety
2.1 General safety instructions
This unit is designed in such
a way that it presents no
danger if installed according
to instructions. This manual
describes how to install the
unit correctly.
nFollow the safety instructions in the
installation manual for the unit, to
which the WiFi adapter is connected.
nAdhere to the relevant local regula-
tions and standards in your country.
nOnly connect the unit in accordance
with the installation manual and the in-
formation on the nameplate.
2.2 Intended use
The WiFi adapter is only intended for use
in commercial kitchens.
The WiFi adapter enables connection to
wireless networks and strengthening of
the signal range.
3 Product description
NOTICE
The WiFi adapter has FCC approval.
With the WiFi adapter, the functional
scope of the units can be expanded by two
functions:
a. Connection to a WiFi access point
[ Photo 01].
b. Repeater mode [ Photo 02].

4.1 Mount WiFi adapter
DANGER
High voltages when connecting to the
mains power
Danger to life due to high voltage.
nDisconnect from the power supply.
nMake sure the unit is disconnected
from the power.

VarioCookingCenter 112T,
VarioCookingCenter 112L
aThe unit to which the WiFi adapter is
to be connected is switched off and
voltage-free.
aThe electrical compartment is open.
1. Screw the two antennas onto the WiFi
adapter.
2. Pierce the 20 mm wide perforation on
the back of the unit with a suitable
tool. The position of the perforation
may vary depending on the option
used. When all perforated holes have
been used, drill a new hole
[ Photo 04].
3. Attach the cable gland with a diameter
of 20 mm to the broken out position.
Insert the cable with both plugs from
the outside through the unit wall into
the unit.
4. Plug the current limiter module into
the cable of the adapter [ Photo 05].
5. Remove the plug on the I/O board A2
and plug it into the current limiter
module [ Photo 06].
6. Plug the current limiter into the board.
If necessary, remove the cable tie at
the top left. Plug in the Ethernet cable
[ Photo 07].
7. Carry out the setup of the WiFi ad-
apter (see 4.2 Setting up the WiFi ad-
apter).
8. Roll up the cables outside the unit.
9. Clean the adhesive surface with the
cleaning cloth. Place the WiFi adapter
in the correct position [ Photo 08].

screwed at selected positions. We

centre on the rear of the base frame
or on the wall.

to be connected is switched off and

tool. Depending on the option used,
the position and size of the perforation
may vary. When all perforated holes
have been used, drill a new hole

3. Attach the cable gland with the appro-
priate diameter, 20 mm or 25 mm, to

to be connected is switched off and
voltage-free.
aThe electrical compartment is open.
1. Screw the two antennas onto the WiFi
adapter.
2. Pierce one of the perforations on the
inside of the unit with a suitable tool.
Depending on the option used, the po-
sition and size of the perforation may
vary. When all perforated holes have
been used, drill a new hole.

3. Attach the cable gland with the appro-
priate diameter, 20 mm or 25 mm, to
the broken out position. Insert the
cable with both plugs from the outside
through the unit wall into the unit
[ Photo 10(2)].
4. Plug the current limiter module into
the cable of the adapter [ Photo 05].
5. Remove the plug on the I/O board A2
and plug it into the current limiter
module [ Photo 06].
6. Plug the current limiter into the board.
If necessary, remove the cable tie at
the top left. Plug in the Ethernet cable
[ Photo 07].

apter (see 4.2 Setting up the WiFi ad-
apter).

2. Pierce one of the perforations for the
cable gland with a suitable tool
[ Photo 11].
3. Attach the cable gland to the broken
out position. Guide the cable with both
plugs through the cable gland.
4. Connect the power supply to the I/O
card [ Photo 12].
5. Carry out the setup of the WiFi ad-
apter (see 4.2 Setting up the WiFi ad-
apter).
6. Plug in the Ethernet cable to the inside
of the control panel on the CPU board
[ Photo 13] or on the outer Ether-
net port [ Photo 14].
7. Guide the cable out of the unit. Roll up
the cables outside the unit.
8. Place the WiFi adapter in a suitable
position [ Photo 08].
>The WiFi adapter can be glued or

4.2 Setting up the WiFi adapter
DANGER
High voltages when connecting to the
mains power

nWorking on the switched-on unit
with the electrical compartment
open may only be carried out by
trained personnel.
nWorking on the switched-on unit
may only be carried out with
appropriate protective clothing.
4.2.1 Use as a WiFi client adapter
aThe electrical compartment is open.
aThe unit is switched on.
1. Connect the Ethernet cable of the WiFi
adapter to a computer.
2. Note that the WiFi on the computer is
disabled during the configuration.
Logging in
1. Open a web browser and enter the ad-
dress https://192.168.11.1 or another
previously set IP address. Accept the
necessary certificates.
2. Enter the username and password. By
default the username is
root and the
password is
Rational [ Photo 15].
>Press the
Login display text.
NOTICE
Change initial password to avoid
misuse
When configuring the unit for the first
time, set a new password in the
System / Administration menu.
Connect the adapter to a WiFi access
point
NOTICE
Network type for connection must be
observed
The WiFi adapter cannot be used in a
captive portal (e.g. a guest WiFi) or a
WPA2 Enterprise based WiFi network.
1. In the Network/WiFi menu, press the
Search [ Photo 16] display text.

2. Select your chosen network. Confirm
the network with the
Join network
display text.
3. Enter the WiFi password in the
WPA
key
input line [ Photo 17]. Confirm
the entry with the
Submit display text.
4. Confirm the entry with the
Save dis-
play text.
5. Confirm with the
Save & Apply display
text.
>The signal strength of the selected
WiFi is shown in the overview
[ Photo 18]. If the password is
entered incorrectly, 0% appears in
the overview. The process must be
repeated from Point 1. The settings
can be changed by pressing the
Edit display text.
6. Carry out a test. Open a web address
of your choice in your browser.
7. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Eth-
ernet interface on the unit.
8. Close the electrical compartment.
9. Activate DHCP in the network settings
of the unit.
10. Restart the unit.
>> The unit is connected to the WiFi.
1. Activate the ConnectedCooking op-
tion in the unit settings.
>> You will receive an activation code to
register the unit in ConnectedCooking.
Further information on Connected-
Cooking can be found in the Connec-
tedCooking manual.
4.2.2 Use as a repeater to expand
existing WiFi coverage
NOTICE
Repeater mode requires permanent
power supply
To use the Repeater mode, the unit
must be switched on with the
connected WiFi adapter.

In this operating mode, the WiFi adapter is
used to expand the coverage of an existing
WiFi network. The WiFi adapter provides
its own wireless network in addition to the
existing network. This has a separate SSID,
a separate password and provides ad-
dresses from the address range
192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.254 using its
own DHCP service.

Pre-requisites
aThe electrical compartment is open.
aThe unit is switched on.
aThe settings for }Use as a WiFi client
adapter have been made.
1. Connect the Ethernet cable of the WiFi
adapter to a computer.
2. Note that the WiFi on the computer is
disabled during the configuration.
Logging in
1. Open a web browser and enter the ad-
dress https://192.168.11.1 or another
previously set IP address. Accept the
necessary certificates.
2. Enter the username and password. By
default the username is
root and the
password is
Rational [ Photo 15].
>Press the
Login display text.
Configuration
1. In the Network/WiFi menu, press the
Add [ Photo 19] display text.
2. Enter the name for the expanded WiFi
in the ESSID field [ Photo 20].
>
Access point must be set as Mode.
3. Select
WiFi encryption tab. Select the
display text to the right of the pass-
word field to make the default pass-
word visible [ Photo 21]. Take a
note of the password in a safe place.
Confirm the entries with the
Save dis-
play text.
>A new network appears in the WiFi
overview [ Photo 22].
4. Confirm with the
Save & Apply display
text.
5. Test the connection. Unplug the Ether-
net cable and connect the laptop to the
new WiFi. Enter the SSID and the
password noted down in the previous
step in full.
>A website can be opened.
6. Connect the Ethernet cable in the unit.
7. Close the electrical compartment.
>> The WiFi created can be used by other
WiFi adapters and units in WiFi client
mode. To do this, the configuration
must be carried out with the SSID cre-
ated and the password noted down.
4.2.3 Change IP address
NOTICE
Connection test fails despite sufficient
signal strength
If the WiFi adapter has the same IP
address as the access point, the
connection test will fail, despite good
signal strength and correct
configuration settings for the WiFi
network.
Resolve the IP address conflict:
nCheck the IP address set on the
access point.
nChange the IP address set on the
WiFi adapter.
1. Log into the menu.
2. Set a different IP address in the main
menu under
Menu - System - LAN IP
address
.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
>Use the newly set IP address to ac-
cess the web interface of the WiFi
adapter.
>> Repeat the connection test.

4.2.4 Testing the WiFi adapter
NOTICE
Test the connection of the WiFi
adapter. If incorrect settings have been
made, the settings must be adjusted or
the WiFi adapter reset.
nUse the magnet (reed contact) to
reset the WiFi adapter.
4.2.5 Configuration of the Wi-Fi adapter
via the provided radio network
In Repeater mode, adjustments to the con-
figuration can be made wirelessly via the
provided radio network. To do this, log in
from a terminal that is connected to the
provided radio network (see }Use as a re-
peater to expand existing WiFi coverage).
Make any adjustments.
4.3 Reset to factory settings
The WiFi adapter is reset to the factory
default with use of a magnet. To reset the
WiFi adapter, hold the magnet briefly in
the middle between the two antennas
above the LEDs until they flash at the same
time. Then wait a few seconds and then
start the configuration again.
4.4 Updating the firmware
aThe WiFi adapter is connected to the
computer.
aThere is a firmware file with the exten-
sion *.bin on the computer.
1. Get the latest firmware from the RA-
TIONAL customer service and the ser-
vice partner portal.
Logging in
1. Open a web browser and enter the ad-
dress https://192.168.11.1 or another
previously set IP address. Accept the
necessary certificates.
2. Enter the username and password. By
default the username is
root and the
password is
Rational [ Photo 15].
>Press the
Login display text.
Update firmware
1. Select the
System/Update Firmware
button.
2. Confirm the
Update firmware display
text.
3. Click the
Browse display text. Select
the firmware file saved on the com-
puter.
4. Click the
Upload display text.
5. Remove the check in the
Maintain set-
tings
field.
>The settings are reset.
6. Confirm the update by clicking on the
Continue button.
>Wait until the green LED goes out.
The blue LED lights up.
>The unit must not be switched off.
7. Wait a few minutes for the green LED
to flash. The unit is accessible again.
Log in again.
>> The firmware has been successfully
updated.
