interferencebetweenequipmentandminimizetheeffectsuchinterference
couldhaveontheperformanceofyoursystem.
CorrectinstallationisrequiredtoensurethatEMCperformanceisnot
compromised.

Inareasofe
xtremeEMCinterference,someslightinterferencemaybe
noticedontheproduct.Wherethisoccurstheproductandthesourceof
theinterferenceshouldbeseparatedbyagreaterdistance.
ForoptimumEMCperformancewerecommendthatwhereverpossible:
•R aymarine®equipmentandcablesconnectedtoitare:
–Atleast1m(3.3ft)fromanyequipmenttransmittingorcablescarrying
radiosignalse.g.VHFradios,cablesandantennas.InthecaseofSSB
radios,thedistanceshouldbeincreasedto2m(6.6ft).
–Morethan2m(6.6ft)fromthepathofaradarbeam.Aradarbeam
cannormallybeassumedtospread20degreesaboveandbelowthe
radiatingelement.
•heproductissuppliedfromaseparatebatteryfromthatusedforengine
start.hisisimportanttopreventerraticbehavioranddatalosswhichcan
occuriftheenginestartdoesnothaveaseparatebattery.
•Raymarine®specifiedcablesareused.
•Cablesarenotcutorextended,unlessdoingsoisdetailedinthe
installationmanual.

Whereconstraintsontheinstallationpreventanyoftheabove
recommendations,alwaysensurethemaximumpossibleseparation
betweendifferentitemsofelectricalequipment,toprovidethebest
conditionsforEMCperformancethroughouttheinstallation.
Suppressionferrites
•R aymarine®cablesmaybepre-fittedorsuppliedwithsuppressionferrites.
heseareimportantforcorrectEMCperformance.Ifferritesaresupplied
separatelytothecables(i.e.notpre-fitted),youmustfitthesupplied
ferrites,usingthesuppliedinstructions.
•Ifaferritehastoberemovedforanypurpose(e.g.installationor
maintenance),itmustbereplacedintheoriginalpositionbeforethe
productisused.
•Useonlyferritesofthecorrecttype,suppliedbyRaymarine®orits
authorizeddealers.
•Whereaninstallationrequiresmultipleferritestobeaddedtoacable,
additionalcableclipsshouldbeusedtopreventstressontheconnectors
duetotheextraweightofthecable.

IfyourRaymarineequipmentistobeconnectedtootherequipmentusing
