DLD5XTM OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Operation
The DLD5XTM is turned on by rotating the pendulum lock lever clockwise to
the un-locked position at which point the pendulum will be “Unlocked” and
ready to self level.
If the lasers ash together with a loud beeping sound then the DLD5XTM is
out of self levelling range and the laser housing needs to be set up more
level on the ground or tripod until the beeping stops, the DLD5X is now in
self levelling range.
The pendulum lock helps protect the laser level when not in use, always
store and transport your DLD5XTM with the lever in the “Locked” position.

Magnetic Base Operation
The DLD5XTM can be used either on its own or attached to the magnetic base,
the “Base Locking Screw” secures the magnetic base onto the DLD5XTM.
The Magnetic base can be mounted on any horizontal or vertical steel
surface, it can also be mounted onto a standard survey style indoor tripod
with 5/8” 11tpi thread. The DLD5XTM kit also comes with a strap than can be
threaded through the base and the around non magnetic surfaces such as
plastic pipe or wood studs.
The DLD5X can also be mounted directly onto a camera style tripod utilising
the same thread in the base of the laser that the magnetic base attaches to.
Once unlocked, pressing the Line button will toggle between Horizontal Line
, Vertical LIne, Both lines and lines off. Pressing the Dot Button will toggle
between Horizontal dots, Plumb Up/Down dots, All dots and dots off.
The DLD5X has a manual mode, in other words it can display the laser
lines and dots without rst levelling. This is achieved by NOT Unlocking the
pendulum and pressing the Line or Dot buttons note the manual level LED

DLD5XTM OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Modes of Operation
The DLD5XTM can be used for just about any indoor applications weather you
need to plumb up or down, level, align or square this laser can do it. The
DLD5XTM can even be useful outdoors in dot mode as long as the conditions
are not too bright, or when using an optional receiver with the lines in pulse
mode.
Using with Optional Electronic Line Receiver
The DLD5XTM can be used with an optional electronic Line receiver such as
the RedBack LLR705 or LR200. To use a receiver the DLD5X needs to be
switched into Pulse Mode by pressing the pulse button, this makes lines
visibly a little less bright but is required for the receiver to pick the lines up.
(note: dots cannot be picked up by the receiver) When lines are in Pulse
mode the line indicator LEDs ash.

Calibration & Self Check
All Redback Lasers have been checked for calibration and certied by one
of our technicians here in Australia prior to despatch and should under
normal conditions not go out of calibration. A calibration certied sticker
with the date and name of technician is located on the laser itself. It is
worth checking calibration from time to time particularly after any known
knocks or drops. An easy way to continually check calibration is to always
double check you work with the laser located in a different position or use
an alternate vertical line. Various other methods for checking calibration can
be found at www.redbacklasers.com.au/downloads or the laser can
be returned to our service department for checking and re-calibration. We
at Redback Lasers provide a once off free calibration and check within the
duration of the warranty period see page 12 for details.
