What is the i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body?
The i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body is a home-use device for the reduction and suppression of body hair using Intense Pulsed Light
(IPL) technology. This is the same technology used in professional hair removal salons and clinics, but it is optimised for use in
the privacy of your own home.
Ideal for use on legs, arms, underarms, bikini line, back, chest and shoulders, and below the cheekbone (with facial attachment

Hair Growth Cycle
Hair follicles typically pass through three phases throughout the hair growth cycle. These phases are:
i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body uses intense pulses of light (IPL) to gently heat up and disable hair follicles beneath the skin. This results
in the hair follicle shedding naturally and regrowth being prevented, leaving you with soft, smooth skin.

Anagen Phase (growing phase) –
the active growth phase of the hair
follicles. Melanin concentration is
at its highest as it is responsible
for pigmentation of the hair. Only
hairs in the anagen phase are
susceptible to treatment with IPL.
Catagen Phase (degradation
phase) – this is a short transition
stage, which follows the anagen
phase and signals the end of ac-
tive growth of hair. It typically lasts
2-3 weeks.
Telogen Phase (resting phase) – the
hair follicle is completely at rest
during this phase, which is the lon-
gest phase and lasts about 100 days.
During this time, the new hairs push
out the old hairs, allowing the growth
cycle to begin again.
As hairs are at different stages of the hair growth cycle during treatments, some hairs may grow back even though you have treated the area frequently,
hair growth may also vary across different body areas. Repeat treatments with i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body when needed based on your individual hair
re-growth.

The i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body is intended for use on light to medium skin colours. To determine if your skin tone is suitable to use
with i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body, place skin in each intended treatment area next to the skin tone chart.
If your skin tone matches panels 1-4, you can use the i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body IPL system. If your skin tone matches 5-6, DO
NOT use the IPL system. The i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body is not intended for use on naturally dark skin, as it may result in burns,
blisters and changes in skin colour.
The i-LIGHT® PRO+ Face & Body system is equipped with a built-in skin tone sensor that is designed to help prevent ashing on
skin that is too dark or too tanned for treatment. Always test each different area you wish to treat with the skin tone chart and skin
tone sensor before treating.
The i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body is effective on black and brown hair but is not effective on blonde, red or grey hairs as they have
very little melanin (dark pigmentation) compared to brown or black hair.
Melanin is what absorbs the light energy used during i-LIGHT®Pro+ Face & Body treatment. Black and dark brown hairs respond
the best. Brown and light brown hairs will also respond, but typically require more treatments. Red hairs may show some response.
White, grey or blonde hairs usually don’t respond to i-LIGHT®Pro+ Face & Body treatments, although some users have noted results
after multiple treatments.

Energy output
Refers to the amount of energy the IPL unit is able to apply to the hair follicle. IPL partially works by applying heat to the hair follicle while leaving the surrounding skin
relatively cool. The heat effectively disables the hair follicle. A higher energy output delivers more heat to the hair follicle, yielding a more effective treatment. Energy
output is measured in J/cm² (Joules per square centimetre).
Recommendation: An energy output above 6J/cm² is recommended to efciently achieve permanent results, and is similar to professional hair removal devices.
The i-LIGHT®PRO+ Face & Body provides a high energy output - 7-8J/cm².
Energy levels
Completing a comfortable IPL treatment will depend on the ability to vary the energy output for differing levels of sensitivity. Areas such as the face, bikini line and
underarms are especially prone to hair removal sensitivity. A device with multiple energy levels will allow you to customise your treatment according to your individual
comfort level. Note that lowering the energy level will reduce the energy output, and this may result in more treatments to attain long lasting hair removal results.
Recommendation: Look for devices that have a minimum of 5 energy levels that only vary by one Joule (J/cm²) and maintain an energy output above 6J/cm².

Wavelengths
The depth that the IPL energy is able to be delivered will depend on the wavelengths of light that the IPL device produces. Selecting a device with a low wavelength
may result in treatments that do not fully reach the hair follicle at its root, resulting in less effective treatment. Wavelengths are measured in nanometres (nm).
Recommendation: Wavelengths above 600nm are recommended to achieve permanent hair removal, which will produce a ash that is red in colour.

Flash Count & Replacement Bulbs
This is the amount of light ashes that the device will emit before the bulb needs replacing. Not all IPL devices have replaceable bulbs, if not available the life of the
unit is considered over and a new IPL unit must be purchased to continue treatments.
Recommendation: In general a full body treatment is about 1,000 ashes to treat the legs, bikini, underarms and face. A high ash count (eg 200,000 ashes)
does not necessarily provide value since the average consumer will never need to use more than ~30,000 ashes in a lifetime. Consider purchasing an IPL device
with replaceable bulbs either offered by the manufacturer or in retail stores for purchase.
The i-LIGHT® PRO+ Face & Body has comes with an Innity Bulb, meaning no replacement bulbs are needed. However in the unlikely even the bulb becomes empty
contact the Remington Service centre for a replacement.
Accessories
Some IPL devices may only be used on the body while others are ok to be used on the face through the addition of a specic facial cap.
Recommendation: IPL devices designed for use on the face and body will provide maximum versatility.
