Een rolstoel moet comfortabel zijn, niet alleen voor de
inzittende, maar ook voor de begeleider. Alleen dan
is een optimale mobiliteit gewaarborgd. Uw rolstoel is
voorzien van een Axxion hulpaandrijving. De regeling
in de Axxion is zo ontworpen dat de ondersteuning
zich automatisch aanpast, zonder dat de begeleider
er iets voor hoeft te doen. Wilt u sneller of moet u
zwaarder duwen, dan helpt de Axxion ongemerkt
wat meer. Loopt u langzamer, dan neemt de Axxion
automatisch “gas terug”.
De automatische regeling is in het duwhandvat
ingebouwd. Het “voelt” als het ware met welke kracht
u duwt en past zich daarop aan. Vandaar dat het
noodzakelijk is de rolstoel op normale wijze, met beide
handen op de duwhandvatten voort te bewegen.
Wanneer u de Axxion in gebruik neemt, kan het even
vreemd zijn dat u bij het duwen een handje wordt
geholpen. Al snel zal uw hulpje zo gewoon zijn dat u
hem mist als de ondersteuning niet is ingeschakeld.
De Axxion is door TNO met een positief resultaat
getest conform de van toepassing zijnde eisen van de
Europese rolstoelnorm EN 12183 en EN 12184 klasse
A en voldoet daarmee aan de essentiële eisen van de
richtlijn voor Medische Hulpmiddelen 93/42/EEG.
Gehandicapten worden vanuit de wet gezien als
een aparte groep weggebruikers. Rolstoelen met
hulpaandrijving hoeven NIET voorzien te worden van
een kentekenplaat.

Uw rolstoel is uitgevoerd met een geavanceerde
hulpaandrijving. In deze handleiding treft u alleen
informatie aan over het gebruik van deze aandrijving.
De handleiding is een aanvulling op de originele
handleiding van de rolstoel. In de originele hand-
leiding vindt u de overige informatie ten aanzien van
bediening, gebruik en onderhoud van de rolstoel.
Belangrijk: Lees deze gebruiksaanwijzing aandachtig
door voordat u de Axxion hulpaandrijving in gebruik
neemt.
Aspecten die van belang zijn voor uw veiligheid
of anderzins uw speciale aandacht verdienen, zijn
in de tekst gemarkeerd met een uitroepteken.

Controle van levering
Controleer voordat u de rolstoel gaat
gebruiken of de levering overeenkomt met
onderstaande productbeschrijving. Indien u
bij aflevering transportschade constateert,
geef dit dan door aan uw dealer. Revab
vertrouwt er op dat deze rolstoel geheel aan
uw verwachtingen zal voldoen.

De accu van de rolstoel is opgeladen bij
aflevering. Hierdoor is de rolstoel direct
gereed voor gebruik. Wel is het mogelijk dat
de capaciteit van de accu minder is omdat
deze tijdens het transport gedeeltelijk is
ontladen.

beïnvloed door gewicht van de inzittende, weersomstandigheden,

zelf geduwd wordt.

Axxion inschakelen

De Axxion is voorzien van twee schakelaars:
- Een hoofdschakelaar op het bedien-
ingspaneel van de accu (1).
- Een stand-by knop op het duwhandvat;
gebruik deze functie bijvoorbeeld bij
een korte pauze, bij het dompen of
kantelen van de rolstoel, bij het instel-
len van de hoogte van de duwhand-
vatten of bij het manoeuvreren in
kleine ruimtes (2).
Inschakelen
Schakel de hoofdschakelaar in (1).
- Tijdens het opstarten van het systeem
brandt het signaallampje bij het
duwhandvat (3) een paar seconden
rood.
Let op: Laat de handen NIET op de
duwhandvatten rusten bij het inschakelen
van de hoofdschakelaar op de accu.
- Wanneer het signaallampje bij het
duwhandvat (3) van rood verandert
in groen is het systeem klaar voor
gebruik.
Let op: Wanneer het systeem zich niet kan
inschakelen zal het gaan piepen en blijft
het signaallampje bij het duwhandvat (3)
rood. Schakel dan de hoofdschakelaar uit
en weer aan om het systeem te resetten.
-Leesdezegebruikershandleidingaandachtigdoor
voordat u de rolstoel gaat gebruiken.
-Deze handleiding is een aanvulling op de
originele handleiding van de rolstoel. Alle veilig-
heidsvoorschriften uit de originele handleiding,
bijvoorbeeld ten aanzien van de parkeerrem, zijn
ook van toepassing op een rolstoel die is uitgerust
met Axxion hulpaandrijving.
- Gebruik voor het opladen van de accu alleen de
originele lader die met de Axxion is meegeleverd.
Sluit nooit een andere lader aan dan die door
Revabisaanbevolen. Het aansluiten vaneenandere
lader kan ernstige beschadiging veroorzaken
- Probeer nooit de behuizing van de elektrische
onderdelen te openen. Dit kan onherstelbare
schade veroorzaken. Door het openen van de
behuizing vervallen uw garantie-aanspraken.
- Breng aan de Axxion geen wijzigingen aan. Dit
kan gevaarlijke situaties opleveren.
- De Axxion is spatwaterdicht. Rijden door diepe
plassen moet daarom vermeden worden.
-De rolstoel waarop de Axxion is gemonteerd nooit
afspuiten met een hogedrukreiniger of tuinslang,
dit kan de Axxion onherstelbaar beschadigen.
- Let op dat de kabels niet bekneld raken bij
het in hoogte verstellen van het duwhandvat.
Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen is het handvat niet
uitneembaar.
- Reparaties en modificaties mogen uitsluitend in
overleg met de fabrikant worden uitgevoerd.
Lege of defecte accu’s niet met het normale huisvuil
afdanken. Informeer bij de lokale overheid naar de van
toepassing zijnde voorschriften rondom het afdanken
van KCA.

Stand-by

Op stand-by zetten
1. Druk op de stand-by knop (1) bij
het duwhandvat om de hulpaandrijving
op stand-by te zetten.
- Het signaallampje (2) bij het duwhand-
vat knippert groen.
2. Zet de rolstoel eventueel op de parkeerrem.
Veiligheid, gebruiksgemak en ergonomie
hebben centraal gestaanbijhetontwerpenvan
de Axxion. Voor een korte pauze, tijdens het
kantelen of het draaien van de rolstoel in een
kleine ruimte is het handig om de aandrijving
even op stand-by te zetten. U hoeft dan niet te
bukken om de hulpaandrijving uit te zetten.
Inschakelen vanaf stand-by
1. Druk op de stand-by knop (2) bij het
duwhandvat om de hulpaandrijving
opnieuw in te schakelen.
- Het signaallampje (3) bij het duwhand-
vat brandt continu groen.
- De elektrische hulpaandrijving is inge-
schakeld.
2. Ontkoppel eventueel de parkeerrem.
- Wanneer u de duwhandvatten pakt
om de rolstoel voort te bewegen
zal de hulpaandrijving de begeleider
ondersteunen, zowel bij het vooruit
als achteruit rijden.
Wanneer u de hulpaandrijving wilt uit-
schakelen, kunt u ervoor kiezen de aandrijving
op stand-by te zetten of de hulpaandrijving
volledig uit te schakelen.
Wanneer u de hulpaandrijving 5 minuten niet
gebruikt, zal deze automatisch op stand-by
schakelen (lampje knippert groen).

Volledig uitschakelen
1. Schakel de hoofdschakelaar (1) uit
- Het signaallampje bij het duwhandvat
dooft.
- De elektrische hulpaandrijving is vol-
ledig uitgeschakeld.
2. Zet de rolstoel op de parkeerrem.
Schakel de Axxion uit met de hoofdschakelaar
wanneer u deze langere tijd niet gebruikt. Op
deze wijze kunt u tevens voorkomen dat de
aandrijving ongewenst wordt ingeschakeld
en bespaart u energie.

Een rolstoel die van een Axxion hulp-
aandrijving is voorzien, rijdt als een gewone
handbediende rolstoel. Dat wil zeggen dat
alle veiligheidsaanwijzingen die voor een
handbediende rolstoel gelden, ook van
kracht zijn voor een rolstoel die voorzien is
van de Axxion hulpaandrijving.
Het duwhandvat, dat voorzien is van een
veiligheidssensor, voelt of er een hand
aanwezig is. De hulpaandrijving werkt dan
ook alleen wanneer u de duwhandvatten
vasthoudt. Tevens “voelt” het duwhandvat
hoeveel kracht de begeleider moet
uitoefenen. De hoeveelheid ondersteuning
wordt hierop automatisch aangepast, zowel
tijdens het voor- als het achteruit rijden.
Omdat de wielen onafhankelijk van elkaar
worden aangedreven, stuurt een rolstoel
die voorzien is van Axxion hulpaandrijving,
comfortabel door een bocht.
Duwhandvat verstellen
Duwhandvatten zijn in hoogte verstelbaar:
- Draai de vleugelknop een slag los (1).
- Stel het handvat in op de gewenste
hoogte.
- Begeleid eventueel de bekabeling aan
de onderkant van de rugbuizen.
- Draai de vleugelknop weer vast.
Revab adviseert van te voren het systeem
uit te schakelen (zie pagina NL11).
Duwhandvatten zijn i.v.m. bekabeling
niet uitneembaar en worden vergrendeld
in de maximale stand. De vergrendeling
kan opgeheven worden door het bedie-
ningsknopje (2) in de rugnok naar binnen
te trekken en het duwhandvat in hoogte te
verstellen.
Een rolstoel die voorzien is van Axxion hulpaandrijving
rijdt als een normale handbediende rolstoel. Let op
bij hellingen en obstakels.
-Neem obstakels altijd achterwaarts.
- De kans op kantelen van een rolstoel is
op een helling groter dan op een vlakke
ondergrond.
- Keer nooit op een steile helling. Wanneer de
rolstoel dwars op een steile helling staat,
is het risico op kantelen groot.
-Houd bij het afdalen altijd uw snelheid
onder controle.
- Begeleiders mogen een rolstoel nooit ongeremd
op een helling achterlaten.
Bijzonderheden ten aanzien van de Axxion
- Zet de hulpaandrijving op stand-by en de rolstoel
op de parkeerrem, voordat u een transfer maakt.
- In een kleine ruimte kan het makkelijker zijn
de Axxion uit te schakelen.

De accu opladen
De accu hoeft niet leeg te zijn voordat u deze
opnieuw gaat opladen. U kunt de accu op
elk gewenst moment opladen. Ook kunt u
het opladen op elk gewenst moment weer
onderbreken. Uit oogpunt van comfort,
adviseert Revab de rolstoel gedurende de
nacht op de acculader aan te sluiten. Tijdens
het opladen kunt u de hulpaandrijving niet
gebruiken.
1. Schakel de Axxion uit met de hoofd-
schakelaar (1). Het signaallampje bij het
duwhandvat dooft.
2. Steek de stekker in de acculader.
3. Steek de stekker in de wandcontact-
doos.
4. Zet de lader aan (3).
Het signaallampje op de lader brandt
rood.
5. Bevestigdeacculaderophetaansluitpunt
van de accu (2).
Tijdens het laden brandt het signaal-
lampje op de lader oranje. Wanneer de
accu is opgeladen brandt het lampje
groen.
Let op:
- Verander nooit de voltage input op de
lader. Af fabriek is deze ingang op 230 V
ingesteld.
- Draai de zekering nooit open.
De accu controleren
De accu verlaat de fabriek vol; hierdoor kunt
u de rolstoel direct na aflevering gebruiken.
Het is echter mogelijk dat de accu door een
rustperiode aan capaciteit verliest.
Het bedieningspaneel van de accu is
voorzien van een LED-indicatie, waarmee u
de hoeveelheid energie van de accu kunt
controleren. Druk op de knop naast de lampjes
(1) en de lampjes geven aan hoeveel capaciteit
resteert (2). Revab adviseert u de accu op te
laden wanneer het oranje lampje gaat branden.
Het opladen van een volledig ontladen accu
duurt ruim 2 uur. U kunt de accu het beste bij
kamertemperatuur opladen.
Let op: Als u de rolstoel langere tijd niet
gebruikt (bijvoorbeeld tijdens vakantie)
dan adviseert Revab u deze volledig op
te laden.
De accu uitnemen
U kunt de accu ook uitnemen om deze
vervolgens aan de acculader te zetten.
1. Trek links van de accu de trekknop naar
buiten.
2. Haal de accu door middel van de
hendel onderaan uit de slede.
Let op: Ondersteun de accu bij het
uitnemen met uw vrije hand.

Reinigen
Gebruik voor het reinigen van een
rolstoel die voorzien is van een Axxion
hulpaandrijving, een vochtige doek. De
Axxion is spatwaterdicht, spuit de rolstoel
daarom nooit af met een hogedrukreiniger
of tuinslang. Voor het desinfecteren kunt u
terecht bij uw dealer.
Klein onderhoud
Dehulpaandrijvingheeft zelf geen onderhoud
nodig. Mocht een defect ontstaan, dan kunt
u zich voor reparaties wenden tot uw dealer.
Probeernooitzelfeendefectehulpaandrijving
te repareren.
Probeer nooit storingen zelf te verhelpen,
maar neem altijd contact op met uw dealer.
Voordat u de dealer waarschuwt, kunt u eerst
het systeem met de hoofdschakelaar uit-
en aanzetten (zie pag. 9 en 10). Hierbij de
handvatten NIET aanraken. Mocht de storing
niet verholpen zijn, neem dan alsnog contact
op met uw dealer (probeer de storing NIET
zelf te verhelpen).

Canto Nxt met Axxion hulpaandrijving is een
‘botsproefveilige rolstoel’. De Canto Nxt met Axxion
hulpaandrijving is dus als stoel met inzittende te
vervoeren in een taxibus (zie ook de aanduidingssticker
op de stoel).
Voor meer informatie zie handleiding Canto Nxt; hoofdstuk ‘Transport’.
Garantie
Revab geeft 2 jaar garantie op de Axxion hulp-
aandrijving en 1 jaar op de accu en lader. De
verplichting van Revab uit deze garantie, beperkt zich
tot reparatie of vervanging van onderdelen. Buiten
de garantie vallen in ieder geval gebreken ontstaan
ten gevolge van; niet in acht nemen van bedienings-
en onderhoudsvoorschriften, anders dan normaal
gebruik, slijtage, onachtzaamheid, overbelasting,
ongeval door derden, toegepaste niet originele
onderdelen, aanpassingen niet uitgevoerd door de
fabrikant en gebreken waarvan de oorzaak is gelegen
buiten het product.
Met deze garantie vervalt elke andere garantie; in de
wet bepaald, of mondeling meegedeeld, behoudens
dat wat door Revab schriftelijk wordt gegarandeerd.
Garanties gelden uitsluitend binnen de EU.

A wheelchair must be comfortable, not only for
the user but for the accompanying person as well.
Only then will optimal mobility be guaranteed. Your
wheelchair is fitted with an Axxion auxiliary drive. The
control device for the Axxion is designed to provide
the right amount of assistance automatically - without
the accompanying person having to do anything
extra. If you want to push faster or if you have to push
harder, the Axxion gives you extra help without you
noticing. If you are walking more slowly, the Axxion
automatically “takes its foot off the accelerator”.
The automatic control device is built into the hand-
grip. It senses how hard you are pushing and
automatically adjusts accordingly. You must therefore
push the wheelchair in the normal way, with both
hands on the push-handles.
When you use the Axxion for the first time, it may
seem strange that you are getting a helping hand with
the pushing. But you will soon get so used to it that
you will miss it when it is not switched on.
The Axxion has been tested positively by the Dutch
TNO in compliance with the relevant requirements
of the European wheelchair standards EN 12183
and EN 12184 Class A, and therefore complies with
the essential requirements of the Medical Devices
Directive 93/42/EEC.
The law regards disabled people as a separate group
of road users. Wheelchairs with an auxiliary drive do
NOT need a vehicle registration plate.

Your wheelchair is fitted with an advanced auxiliary
drive. This manual only contains information about
the use of this drive. It is a supplement to the original
manual for the wheelchair. The original manual
contains all the other information on the operation,
use and maintenance of the wheelchair.
Important: Please read these instructions for use
carefully before using the Axxion auxiliary drive for
the first time.
Aspects in the text that are relevant to your safety
or otherwise require your specific attention are
marked with an exclamation mark.

Checking the wheelchair on delivery
Before you start using it, check that the
wheelchair delivered matches the product
description below. If you notice any damage
caused during transit, please inform your
dealer. Revab trusts that this wheelchair will
entirely meet your expectations.

The wheelchair battery is fully charged on
delivery. The wheelchair is therefore ready for
use straight away. However, the capacity of the
battery may be lower to begin with because it
will have become partially discharged during
transportation.

Switching the Axxion on

The Axxion has two switches:
- A main switch on the battery control
panel (1).
- A standby button on the push-handle;
use this when stopping for a short time,
tipping or tilting the wheelchair,
setting the height of the push-handles
or manoeuvring in small spaces (2).
Switching on
Switch the main switch (1) on.
- When the system starts, the indicator
lamp next to the push-handle (3) lights
up red for a few seconds.
NB: DO NOT rest your hands on the
push-handles when switching on the main
switch on the battery.
- When the indicator lamp next to the
push-handle (3) changes from red to
green, the system is ready for use.
NB: If the system cannot switch on, it will
beep and the indicator lamp next to the
push-handle (3) will stay red. Switch the
main switch off and on again to reset the
system.
- Read this user manual carefully before you use
the wheelchair for the first time.
- This manual is a supplement to the original
manualthatcamewiththewheelchair.All the safety
instructions in the original manual, e.g. con-
cerning the parking brake, also apply to a wheel-
chair fitted with the Axxion auxiliary drive.
- Only use the original battery charger supplied with
the Axxion to charge up the battery. Never
connect it to another charger that is not
recommended by Revab. Use of another charger
can cause serious damage.
- Never try to open the housing of the electrical
components. This may cause irreparable damage.
Opening the housing will invalidate your
guarantee.
- Do not make any changes to the Axxion. This may
have dangerous consequences.
- The Axxion is splashproof only. Deep puddles
should therefore be avoided.
- Never spray down the wheelchair on which the
Axxion is mounted with a high-pressure hose
or garden hose; this may irreparably damage the
Axxion.
- Make sure the cables do not get trapped when
you adjust the height of the push-handle. For
safety reasons, the push-handle cannot be
removed.
- Repairs and modifications may only be made with
the manufacturer’s agreement.
Do not dispose of flat or defective batteries with your
normal household refuse. Find out about the rules
on disposing of small chemical waste from your local
council.

Standby

Switching to standby
1. To switch the auxiliary drive to standby,
press the standby button (1) next to the
push-handle.
- The indicator lamp (2) next to the push-
handle will flash green.
2. Engage the parking brake if necessary.
Safety, user-friendliness and ergonomics
are central to the design of the Axxion. It is
a good idea to switch the drive to standby
during a short break or when you are tilting
the wheelchair or turning it in a small space.
Then you will not have to bend to switch off
the auxiliary drive.
Switching on from standby
1 Press the standby button (2) next to the§
push-handle to switch the auxiliary drive
back on.
- The indicator lamp (3) next to the push-
handle lights up green.
- The electrical auxiliary drive is switched
on.
2. Disengage the parking brake engaged.
- When you take hold of the push-
handles to move the wheelchair, the
auxiliary drive provides you with a
helping hand for both forwards and
backwards motion.
If you want to switch the auxiliary drive off,
you can either switch it to standby or switch it
off completely.
The auxiliary drive switches to standby
automatically if it is not used for 5 minutes
(the light will flash green).

1. Switch the main switch (1) off.
- The indicator lamp next to the push-
handle goes out.
- The electrical auxiliary drive is switched
off completely.
2. Engage the parking brake.
If you will not be using the Axxion for a
relatively long period of time, switch it off
using the main switch. This will also prevent
the drive from switching on accidentally, and
you will save energy.

A wheelchair fitted with an Axxion auxiliary
drive can be used in the same way as an
ordinary manual wheelchair. In other words,
all the safety instructions applicable to a
manual wheelchair also apply to a wheelchair
fitted with an Axxion auxiliary drive.
The push-handle, which is fitted with a safety
sensor, senses when there is a hand present.
The auxiliary drive therefore only works
when you are holding the push-handles.
The push-handle also senses how hard the
accompanying person needs to push. The
amount of support adjusts automatically
to this for both forwards and backwards
motion. Because the wheels are each driven
separately, a wheelchair fitted with an Axxion
auxiliary drive steers comfortably around
bends.
Adjusting the push-handle
Push-handles are height-adjustable:
- Loosen the butterfly knob (1) one turn.
- Adjust the handle to the required
height.
- If necessary, guide the cable underneath
the backrest tubes.
- Retighten the butterfly knob.
Revab recommends switching the
system off first (see page GB11).
Because of the cable, the push-handles
cannot be removed and are locked in the
maximum position. They can be unlocked
by pulling the operating knob (2) in the back
guard inwards and adjusting the height of
the push-handle.
A wheelchair fitted with an Axxion auxiliary drive
can be used in the same way as a standard manual
wheelchair. When tackling slopes and obstacles,
please note the following.
- Always tackle obstacles backwards.
- A wheelchair is more likely to tip over on a slope
than on a level surface.
- Never turn the wheelchair round on a steep slope.
If the wheelchair is facing across a steep slope, it
can very easily tip over.
- Always keep your speed under control when
going downhill.
- Accompanying persons must never leave a
wheelchair on a slope without engaging the
brake.
Points to watch with the Axxion
- Set the auxiliary drive to standby and engage
the parking brake before transferring in or out of
the chair.
- In a small space, it may be easier to switch the
Axxion off.

Charging the battery
The battery does not need to be flat before
you recharge it. You can charge the battery
at any time. You can also stop charging it at
any time. For the sake of convenience, Revab
recommends connecting the wheelchair to
the battery charger at night. You cannot use
the auxiliary drive while the battery is being
charged.
1 Switch the Axxion off at the main switch
(1). The indicator lamp next to the push-
handle goes out.
2. Plug the battery charger plug into the
battery charger.
3. Plug the plug into the wall socket.
4. Switch the battery charger on (3).
The indicator lamp on the battery charger
lights up red.
5. Attach the battery charger to the con-
nection point on the battery (2).
The indicator lamp on the battery charger
will light up orange while it is charging.
The lamp will go green when the battery
is fully charged.
NB:
- Never change the voltage input on the
battery charger. This input is set to 230V
in the factory.
- Never open the safety fuse.
Checking the battery
The battery leaves the factory fully charged so
that the wheelchair can be used immediately
after delivery. However, the battery may lose
capacity when not in use.
The battery control panel has an LED indicator
with which you can check the energy level
of the battery. Press the button next to the
lamps (1) and the lamps will indicate how
much capacity is left in the battery (2). Revab
recommends that you charge the battery
when the orange lamp lights up. Charging up
a completely empty battery takes a good 2
hours. It is best to charge the battery at room
temperature.
NB: If you do not use the wheelchair for
a relatively long period of time (e.g. while
you are on holiday), Revab recommends
charging it fully.
Removing the battery
You can also remove the battery to place it
on the charger.
1. Pull the knob on the left of the battery
outwards.
2. Remove the battery from the carriage
using the handle.
NB: Support the battery with your free
hand while removing it.

Cleaning
Clean a wheelchair fitted with an Axxion
auxiliary drive with a damp cloth. The Axxion
is splashproof only; you should therefore
never spray the wheelchair down with a high-
pressure hose or garden hose. If components
need disinfecting, please contact your
dealer.
Minor maintenance
The auxiliary drive itself is maintenance-free.
If it develops a defect, please contact your
dealer to have it repaired. Never try to repair
defects in the auxiliary drive yourself.
Never try to repair faults yourself; always
contact your dealer.
Before you contact your dealer, first switch
the system off and on again at the main
switch (see pages 9 and 10). Do NOT touch
the handles while doing so. If this does not
rectify the fault, contact your dealer (do NOT
try to repair the fault yourself).

Transporting
Transporting
The Canto Nxt with Axxion auxiliary drive is a ‘crash
test-proof wheelchair’. The Canto Nxt with Axxion
auxiliary drive can therefore be transported with the
user in it in a taxi bus (see also the sticker on the
wheelchair).

Guarantee
Revab guarantees the Axxion auxiliary drive for 2
years and the battery and charger for 1 year. Revab’s
obligation under this guarantee is limited to the repair
or replacement of components. The guarantee does
not cover faults caused by failure to comply with
instructions for use and maintenance instructions,
abnormal use, wear and tear, negligence, overloading,
accidents caused by third parties, use of non original
components, modifications not carried out by the
manufacturer or faults the cause of which is not related
to the product. This guarantee supersedes any other
guarantee either laid down in law or verbally notified,
with the exception of any written guarantee provided
by Revab. Guarantees are only valid within the EU.
