3. Additionally, move a working radar/camera field cable over to the PoE
injector of the non-working radar/camera and see if it continues to work. If
so, then the cabinet equipment is fine, and the devices outside of the cabinet
need to be checked.
4. The issue could also be with a bad network switch port. Look for activity on
the switch port and move the patch cable to a new port to see if the activity
and link light status changes.
• Check the power wires that feed from the 48 VDC power supply to
the 48 VDC power terminal block. Ensure that none of them are loose
or disconnected. A disconnected power wire will result in less power
availability to the radar/camera units and failed devices.
• If a PoE tester is available, test the Data+Pwr output port of the PoE
injector to ensure that 48 VDC is present between pins 4,5 (+) and 7,8 (-).
If not, replace the PoE injector.
If the issue is still not resolved aer checking everything in the cabinet, then the items
outside of the cabinet need to be checked

5. Testing of the network cable needs to be performed with a certified network
cable that can show that there are no shorts or open connections in the wires
and that the cable shield is properly connected as well.
6. If the network cable fails testing, re-crimp the shielded RJ45 connector to
one end and test again. If it fails again, re-crimp the other end. If it fails a third
time, then a new cable may need to be pulled.
• If a network repeater is installed, all sections of the cable will need to
be tested.
• Check if the network cable repeater is working properly. It should be
powered up.
• All terminals should be clean and show no signs of corrosion. If there is
any sign of corrosion, the repeater will need to be replaced.
7. If the network cable passes testing and an installed repeater is working, check
the pigtail connection from the radar to the Ethernet Surge Protector (ESP) at
the radar. A spare ESP can be installed and tested to determine if the ESP was
the failing component.
8. Finally, if everything has been replaced and checked, replace the radar/
camera unit with a spare and see if the new spare unit operates correctly. If so,
have the failed radar/camera unit shipped back to Rhythm with an assigned
RMA number.
