2.2 ST30 board
The ST30 board is delivered calibrated. The printed circuit board provides setting
options for setting the measuring range, calibrating the system and resetting the
measurement to zero.
Figure 2-1: The ST30 board
1. Jumper J1 J1 enables you to select an output signal of 0-20 mA or 0-10 V. For
example, mA is selected by setting J1 to 1.
2. Zero potentiometer The zero potentiometer can be used to compensate for a
dead load. When there is no weight on the scales, this enables the output signal
to be set to exactly 0.0 mA.
3. DIP-switch This DIP-switch enables you to change the measuring range.
4. Gain potentiometer The gain potentiometer enables you to adjust the number
of mV/V. This is used to calibrate the board.

2.4 Control
The Newton 100-S & 200-S can be used in combination with a CX500 or a MultiMa.
2.4.1 CX500
The CX500 not only optimizes the climate inside the greenhouse, but also provides
control of irrigation, buffer tanks and energy processes. The CX500 is the ultimate
modular automation solution, suitable for every greenhouse and every crop. It is also
easy to upgrade as the grower's business expands.
CX Assistant
CX Assistant is the configuration, price calculation, installation and management tool
for the CX500. The tool has been designed especially for dealers. It allows you to
perform most of the tasks required to put the CX500 into operation and to modify its
configuration as needed later.
2.4.2 MultiMa
The MultiMa is the most versatile automation solution on the market. It enables you to
control and manage every aspect of your greenhouse, whether it involves irrigation,
water treatment, climate, energy, CO2supplementation and electricity. The MultiMa
is an intelligent solution for commercial growers that require the ultimate in
greenhouse automation.

3 Safety
This section describes the safety requirements and precautions to be taken. When
installing, using and removing the Newton 100-S & 200-S, you must comply with the
safety requirements and instructions, and take the correct safety measures.
Read and make sure that you have understood this manual and the
accompanying documents, so that you are aware of the safety instructions.
The dealer must also be familiar with the requirements relating to the on-site
installation of the Newton 100-S & 200-S. See the section "Installation requirements"
on page12 for this.
3.1 General safety requirements
The Newton 100-S & 200-S unit is subject to the following general safety and
regulatory requirements:
Make sure that everyone who works with the Newton 100-S & 200-S has
received adequate training and is familiar with the safety requirements.
Always take prompt and appropriate action in response to warnings and
notifications.
Replace broken or malfunctioning components as soon as possible.
Only use original components to perform repairs or replacements. Please refer
to the current price list or contact the dealer.
It is not permitted to modify the system in any way. Unauthorized modifications
can cause serious harm to personnel, the Newton 100-S & 200-S or the crop.

4 Installation
This chapter describes the requirements and procedure for installing the Newton
weighing system.
4.1 Material requirements
The following components need to be available in order to install a Newton 100-
S/200-S weighing system:
230-volt power supply near the control cabinet.
Gutter. The minimum length of the gutter is the distance between two roof
trusses in the greenhouse.
The materials required for suspending the gutter.
This may include:
steel wire
clamps to suspend the steel wire from the lattice girder
eye hooks that you screw into the S-load cells
metal brackets to attach the S-load cells to the weighing gutter.
4.2 Installation requirements
The following requirements apply to the on-site installation of the Newton weighing
system:
The gutter must be at least five centimetres above the ground. Usestandard
hanging gutters with suspension system.
The gutter must hang completely free.
Does the grower use a gutter system? Make sure that the existing gutter is
properly supported so that it cannot bend. Hang the new gutter five cm above
the existing gutter.
Make sure that there is sufficient space to connect the cables of the force
transducers to the control cabinet. Do not shorten or extend these cables.
4.3 Installing the weighing system
Complete the following steps to install the weighing system:
1. Attach the force transducers to the gutter suspension system. For example,
directly above the gutter with an S-hook or from the truss.
2. Attach the control cabinet to a board or a post.
3. Connect the force transducer cables directly to the control cabinet. Do not
shorten or extend these cables.
4. Fit the force transducers in line with the direction of force (an arrow on the load
cell indicates the direction of force).

4.4 Control cabinet connections
The force transducers are already connected to the ST30 board in the cabinet.
Figure 4-1: Control cabinet connections
Complete the following step to connect the components to the control cabinet:
Connect the ST30 circuit board to the power supply (230 Volts).

4.5 Calibration
This sections contains more information on how to calibrate the Newton weighing
system.
4.5.1 Requirements
Calibration requires the following equipment:
Calibration weights
Multimeter
4.5.2 Procedure
Complete the steps below to calibrate the Newton weighing system:
Check the wiring.
Connect the control cabinet to the 230-V power supply.
Set Jumper J1 (on the ST30 board) to 1.
Set DIP-switch 1 (on the ST30 board) to ON.
Set DIP-switches 2 and 3 to OFF.
Set the range of the multimeter to mA.
Connect the multimeter to the ST30 circuit board as follows:
Multimeter ST30
- Terminal 7
+ Terminal 8
Is the gutter unloaded (empty) and hanging freely? Use the zero potentiometer
to set the output signal of the multimeter to 0.0 mA.
Place the calibration weight.
Use the gain potentiometer to set the output signal of the multimeter to the
corresponding value (see table below and on the next page).
