• When trigger is pulled make sure target is in sight.
• Only use RIFFE replacement parts to ensure safe
operation.
• Before leaving the water always unload your
speargun and place the tip protector on spearhead.
• Prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause
damage to stock’s nish and power bands.
• Avoid dropping speargun in the sand which may
clog the ring mechanism.

Selective divers set their sights on only those few

Thank you for choosing RIFFE.
All Competitor, Mahogany, Standard and Euro Series
have a Lever Safety. When the lever is pointed to “S”,
safety is ON. Back is Safe, Front is Fire.
All Mid-Handle & Metal Tech Series have a
Locking Pin Safety. Insert pin at a 90 degree angle of
gunstock and position tip of pin between nylon bushing
and trigger mechanism. Use palm of hand to push in
rmly until engaged. Safety is ON. To take safety off, pull
up with a slight rotation until pin comes free. Then insert
back in at a horizontal plane until pin snaps into cradle &
coated cable has receded back into hole at butt of gun.

• Screw plate must be removed on models with a rein-
forced muzzle.
• Slide wishbone line through the narrow opening at the
muzzle end and down into the horizontal muzzle opening
one at a time.
• Wet bands with water and soap and slide through
muzzle opening and position equally. Wishbone line is
now pointing toward butt of gun
• Muzzle reinforcement screw plate (on models that
apply) must be reinstalled prior to loading gun.
Power Band Installation
• Install spearshaft under power bands and onto track
located on top of the speargun stock,
ensuring loading tabs on shaft are pointed up
(for both open and closed track).
• Slide spearshaft end into mechanism giving a rm
push to overcome spring tension, locking shaft into
position. Push and pull on spearshaft to ensure full
trigger engagement.
• Do not slam spearshaft into position. This may
damage ring mechanism.
• Do not use shooting line to pull shaft into
mechanism.
• Now engage safety and rig your line.
• We recommend traveling with shaft out of track. If
transporting speargun with engaged shaft, make sure
spearshaft is secure to the speargun barrel with Velcro
Strap to prevent damage to spearshaft and mechanism.
• Do not drop or hit spearshafts. This could fracture or
weaken at the loading notch area.
Installing / Engaging Shaft
• Line is attached by crimping through shark n tab or
rear of shaft depending on model purchased.
• Make sure power bands are on top of spearshaft and
shooting line is underneath power bands.
• Place line underneath line plate coming over to top
of spearshaft to groove in the gunstock on right side of
muzzle. Run line down gunstock around line release,
then up to line anchor, and back down to line release.
Use one hand to stretch bungee and put remaining loop
of line around the line release. 3 & 4 line wraps are not
recommended.
• After line is rigged, load power bands.
Types of Line Setups
Standard single wrap
Standard double wrap
Reel
Euro breakaway
Standard breakaway
Floatlines, oats and other accessories may be added to
setup. See website for details.
• Take rst power band closest to you in one hand, plac-
ing other hand at butt of the speargun. Pull and swing
into upper stomach area.
• Take both hands and pull power band (closest to front)
to the rst tab. The second power band should be loaded
on the second tab & third.
• Two bands can be loaded per large tab; One band per
mini tab.
• Spearshaft with rest tab: Place butt end on hip to load
the power band to the rest tab. After loading to rest tab,
raise speargun by the power band to high stomach area
and nish loading to other tab(s). The rest tab is for ease
of loading and short shots.
• Make sure all power bands are put on speargun the
same way.

“Riffe for Life” With proper care of your wood gun, you’ll
have a lifetime of use.
Speargun
• To maintain nish on your Riffe wooden stock, we
recommend the Teak Maintenance Kit.
• Remove power bands and spearshafts only when
nishing.
• Rinse speargun thoroughly with freshwater and hang
dry before storing. Do not remove hardware parts when
cleaning.
• Store out of sunlight in a cool environment for pro-
longed life
• Frequent assembling and disassembling of
handle and reel will cause breaking of silicone
seal, exposing wood to the elements, compromising
original wood threads. If you are planning this
practice, threaded inserts are highly recommended.
• When installing reel or removing handle, if
necessary, do not over torque.
Power Bands
• Remove from speargun when not in use and store in an
airtight bag in a cool/dark environment.
• Riffe’s Gorilla Rubber is made from natural latex w/
inhibitors.
• Cracking around wishbone or band losing elasticity
signies the optimal lifetime of band has expired.
