WARNINGS
The exclamation point within the triangle is a warning sign alert-
ing the user of important instructions accompanying the
product.
The lightening flash with arrowhead symbol within the triangle
is a warning sign alerting the user of “dangerous voltage” inside
the unit.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover. No
user serviceable parts inside the unit. Refer all servicing to
qualified personnel.
This unit employs a laser. Only a qualified service person should
remove the cover or attempt to service this device, due to
possible eye injury.
Invisible laser radiation when the unit is opened or interlocks
defeated. Avoid exposure to laser beam. Use of controls,
adjustments or procedures other than those specified herein
may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
This unit operates on 230V ~ 50Hz. If the unit is not used for a
long period of time, remove the plug from the AC mains.
This unit must not be exposed to moisture or rain.
The power switch in this unit is mounted on the secondary
circuit and does not disconnect the whole unit from the mains in
OFF position.
Ensure all connections are properly made before operating the
unit.
This unit should be positioned so that it is properly ventilated.
Avoid placing it, for example, close to curtains, on the carpet or in
a built-in installation such as a bookcase.
Do not expose this unit to direct sunlight or heat radiatingsources.

BATTERY INSTALLATION
Insert two UM-3 batteries into the
battery compartment of the remote
controller and close the compartment.
BATTERYREPLACEMENT
When thebatteries become too weak, theoperating distance of the remote controller is greatly
reduced and you will need to replace the batteries.
Notes: To maintain the accuracy and long life of the transmitter, do not press two or more
Buttons simultaneously.
If the remote control is not to be used for a long time, remove the batteries to prevent possible
damage through leaking batteries.
USINGTHEREMOTECONTROLUNIT
• To use remote control unit, point it at the remote sensor and press the button gently and
frimly. Remote control is possible within about 5m (approx. 16FT). However, since the
remote control range is less when the unit is used at an angle, use directly in front of the
remote sensor, as far as possible.
• Do not expose the remote sensor to strong light (direct sunlight or artificial lighting) and
make sure that there are no obstacles between the remote sensor and the remote
control unit.

CONNECTING TO POWER
Before switching on make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as
that indicated on the rating plate.
For your own safety read the following instructions carefully before attempting to connect
this unit to the mains.
MAINS (AC) OPERATION
This unit is designed to operate on AC 230V 50Hz current only. Connecting it to other
power sources may damage the unit.
CAUTION
To prevent electric shock disconnect from the mains before removing cover. No user
serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
SAFETY PRECAUTION
Do not allow this unit to be exposed to rain or moisture.
Mains Supply: 230V 50Hz - AC only
This symbol means that this unit is double insulated. An earth connection is not
required.
POWER SUPPLY
Remove the stereo carefully from the box, retaining the packaging for future use.
Connections
Connect the speakers to the speaker terminals on the back of the unit (23,24).
Connect the right speaker to the right terminal and the left speaker to the left terminal.
Connect the Mains Lead (25) to an AC outlet. Check that your mains supply is 230V, 50Hz.
Extend the FM antena on the rear of the unit (26).
AC POWER OPERATION
Connect the plug (25) to a mains power inlet 230V AC ~ 50 Hz.

RADIO OPERATION
1. Set the Function Selector (7) to the RADIO position.
2. Select the desired frequency band with the Band Selector (8).
3. Tune to the desired radio station by turning the Tuning control (21).
4. Adjust the Volume (20) control to the desired level.
5. To turn off the radio, set the Function Selector (7) to the TAPE position.
Antenna
For FM reception there is a FM wire antenna (26) at the rear of the unit. Extend the antenna
wire and move it around to obtain the best reception.
For MW reception the signals are picked up through a built-in ferrite antenna. Your may have
to orient the unit to obtain the best reception.
FM Stereo and Mono Reception
When an FM signal is tuned in, setting the BAND selector (8) to the FM ST position will enable
the broadcasting to be received in stereo sound. The FM Stereo indicator (16) will light up.
CASSETTE OPERATION
INSERTION AND REMOVAL OF CASSETTES
• Press the POWER Button (1).
• Press the STOP/EJECT Button () to open the Cassette Door.
• Insert your cassette tape into the holder, with the exposed section downward and the
playback side facing you.
• Close the Cassette Door securely before starting.
• When finished, press the STOP/EJECT Button () to open the Cassette Door, and
retrieve your cassette tape.
PLAYBACK
• Select TAPE with the Function selector (7) on the unit to choose the cassette mode.
• Insert your cassette tape.
• Press the PLAY button () to active playback.
• Use the PAUSE button () whenever you want to suspend playback.
• Press the STOP button () to stop playback.

TO RECORD ON A CASSETTE
RECORDING FROM THE RADIO
• Select RADIO with the Function selector (7) on the unit to choose the Tuner mode.
• Tune in your station and put in your cassette tape.
• Press the Record Key () and the Play Key () at the same time to start recording.
• Press the Stop Key () when finished.
RECORDING FROM CD
• Select CD with the Function selector (7) on the unit to choose the CD mode.
• Press the CD Open/Close Button (28), insert a disc and close CD compartment.
• Press the TAPE STOP/EJECT Button () to open the Cassette Door.
• Press the Record Key () and the Play Key () at the same time.
• Press the CD Play / Pause (6) button.
• To stop recording, press the Stop button (4) of the CD player. Then press the Stop button
() of the cassette deck.
HANDLING COMPACT DISC
• To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the centre of the case and lift the
disc out, holding it carefully by the edges.
• Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc’s recorded surface with a
soft cloth. Unlike conventional records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust
and microscopic debris so gently wiping with a soft cloth should remove most particles.
Wipe in a straight line from the inside to the outside of the disc. Small dust particles and
light stains will have absolutely no effect on reproduction quality.
• Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic sprays, benzine, or thinners to
clean compact discs. These chemicals can irreparably damage the disc’s surface.
• Discs should be returned to their cases after use. This avoids serious scratches that
could cause the Laser pickup to skip.

• Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high humidity, or high temperatures for extended
periods. Long exposure to high temperatures can warp the disc.
• Do not stick paper or write anything with a ballpoint pen on the label side of the disc.
COMPACT DISC OPERATION
LOADING AND UNLOADING COMPACT DISCS
• Press the POWER Button (1) to power the unit.
• Select CD with the Function selector (7) on the unit to choose the CD mode.
• Open the disc compartment by pressing the CD Open Button (28).
• When the disc compartment has opened, remove a disc from its case and place it
carefully in the compartment with the label side facing up. Locate smaller, 3” discs, in
the centre depression of the compartment.
• Close the disc compartment.
When the compartment is fully closed, the disc will start turning automatically. The total
number of tracks of the CD will appear on the LCD display.
CAUTION
• Do not put anything except a compact disc into the compartment. Foreign objects can
damage the mechanism.
• Keep the disc compartment closed when not in use to prevent dirt and dust from
entering the mechanism.
• Never place more than one disc into the disc compartment at any time.
• If the disc is correctly loaded , the following information will be displayed:
Total number of tracks on the disc
Notes: After the disc compartment is fully closed, the disc information may not appear on
the display, This means that the disc is improperly loaded (most likely it is upside
down). To check, open the disc compartment again and reload the disc.
LISTENING TOCOMPACTDISC
• Select CD with the Function selector (7) on the unit to choose the CD mode.
This unit can read CD, CD-R, CD-RW.
ATTENTION:
THIS PRODUCT IS ALSO ABLE TO REPRODUCE CD-RW DISCS, HOWEVER IT COULD
HAPPENTHATDURINGPLAYBACKSOMETYPEOFDISCSCANNOTBEPLAYEDPROPERLY.
THEREFORE, FULLPLAYABILITY WITH ALLCD-RW DISCS ISNOT GUARANTEED.

Playing The CD
1. Select CD with the Function selector (7) on the unit to choose the CD mode.
2. Press the PLAY / PAUSE button on the unit (or remote) once to start playing the CD
from the first track, and the " " indicator will appear on the display.
3. Press the PLAY/ PAUSE buttonagain to pause playing theCD, and the" " indicator
will appear on the display.
4. To resume playback, press the PLAY / PAUSE button again.
5. To stop playback, press the STOP button.
TRACK SKIP
Selecting a different track during CD Play
1. Press the SKIP / SEARCH (REW. or F.F.) button on the unit (5,3) (or on remote
1,2 ), the required track number appears on the display.
2. Press the PLAY / PAUSE button on the unit. Starting again with the track that is currently
selected.
REPEAT/RANDOM PLAY
REPEATPLAY
1. When playing the CD, if you desire to repeat the same track only, press the REPEAT (18)
button on the unit or on the remote (5) once and the REPEAT indicator (12) will flash.
2. To repeat all disc, press the REPEAT Button twice andtheREPEAT indicator (12) will light
up.
3. To cancel repeat play, press the STOP button or press the REPEAT button repeatedly
until the Repeat indicator switches off.
Note : If in "REPEAT ALL" mode, the normal & program playing will also effect in this function.
STOPPINGPLAY
1. Press the STOP button if you wish to stop play. The disc and total numbers of tracks
will now appear on the display.
2. Open the CD door on the unit to remove the CD.

PROGRAMMED DISC PLAY (CD)
It is not possible to enter programs during disc play. Press the Stop button (4) first, then follow
the instructions below.
Press the PROGRAM button (19) on the unit or on the remote control (6). The following
information will be displayed on the CD Display, flashing.

Press the Forward and Reverse Skip Track buttons (3,5) on the unit or on the remote
control (2,1) to select the track to be stored in location “01”( i.e. track 03).

Press the PROGRAM button. The first program selection is now stored in the program
memory. 0
Select the next track to be programmed using the Forward and Reverse Skip Track
buttons ( i.e. track 05). 5
Press the PROGRAM button to store this track.
Continue entering tracks in this way until all the desired tracks are stored (up to a limit of
20). When the PROGRAM button is pressed to store the 20th track, the display will return
to the 1st program location. Press the PROGRAM button to step through the program
locations.
Ifyouwishtoaddatracktotheprogram,pressthe PROGRAMbuttonuntilthelastprogrammed
track is displayed. Press the PROGRAM button again. Press the Forward or Reverse Skip
Track buttons until the desired track is displayed, then press the PROGRAM button . The
added track will be entered as the last track in the program memory.
Notes: If the Play/Pause button is pressed before the PROGRAM button is pressed to store
a track, that track will not be programmed, and the disc will start playing from the first
selected track. Any track can be programmed to play more than once.

Listening to Programmed Tracks
Press the Play Pause button. Disc play will start at the beginning of the first programmed track.
To Clear The Program Memory
If the disc is playing, press the Stop button to stop the disc.
Select TAPE or RADIO to clear the Program.
HEADPHONE
This unit will accept stereo headphones (not included) with a 3.5mm plug and an impedance
of 8 ohms or greater. The speakers are automatically disconnected when headphones are
connected to the PHONES JACKS (10).
BASS BOOST
Press the XTRA Bass (2) to “ ON ” position to enjoy a more powerful Bass sound.
IMPORTANT
Since movement of the CD mechanism and the sensitive circuitry may cause interference
to a radio tuner nearby switch this unit off while operating other radio devices.
This product utilizes a laser

direct exposure to the beam.
Caution - Use of controls, adjustments, or procedures not listed in this manual may result
in hazardous radiation exposure.

Only compact discs identified with this mark can be used with
this player.
