to direct sunlight or to extremes of temperature or humidity - so, best not leave ALFiE under a
tanning lamp, then

not place ALFiE direct heat sources such as radiators, stoves, gas fires, naked flames or candles

Please ensure ALFiE is connected to the correct power supply as indicated on the unit, and please unplug the

not in use for along period -this saves not only ALFiE's insides, but also the world outside. Always
ensure
power cables are placed safely and are not obstructing awalkway.
To avoid risk of electric shock, do not attempt to remove ALFiE's back cover -there are no user serviceable parts

ALFiE should be serviced by an authorized service engineer in the event of any of the following circumstances:
ALFiE's power supply or cord sustains damage
ALFiE is struck by afalling object
ALFiE is exposed to rain or moisture
ALFiE does not seem to operate normally or exhibits asudden change in performance

Any unauthorized changes or modifications to ALFiE would render the manufacturer's warranty null and void
Please only insert 12cm discs - ALFiE does not like Scm discs (those little tiny discs that tend to be used for MP3
player software)

TOUCH-SENSITIVE KEYS:
1. Power on/off -With your finger touching, or close to, the POWER
touch-sensitive key for more than 1.5 seconds, the power turns on and LED
brightens. Do this again and power turns off and the LED darkens.

DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) is adigital video medium under the MPEG II format, featuring avariety of revolutionary
entertainment capabilities. The MPEG II video compression technology provides capacity for an excellent picture of

Avideo disc contains high-density compressed data that needs proper handling.
When
holding the disc, hold the disc's outer edge and/or the centre spindle hole. Do not touch the disc's surface.
Do
not bend or press the disc, and do NOT expose the disc to direct sunlight or heating sources
Store your discs in acabinet vertically, in dry condition, and prevent exposure to:
-Direct sunlight
-Heat
or exhaust from aheating device
-Extreme
humidity
Clean the disc surface with asoft, dry cleaning cloth. Wipe the disc surface gently from the centre toward the
outer edge.
Do
not apply thinner, alcohol chemical solvent, or sprays when cleaning. Such cleaning fluids will permanently
damage
the disc surface -which is not a good thing.

Video connections with your TV
NOTE:
When making
connections
between
ALFiE and
other components,
you should switch
the power off.
ALFiE's DVD player is equipped with the following
video ports: Composite video (always active) and
S-Video (Default
option) and component video.
Depending on your equipment, please select one
of the following ways to connect the VIDEO OUT
jacks
to your TV.

-Connect the VIDEO out jack on the back of the
DVD player to the Video In jack on the TV using
the video cable (V) (not included).
S-VIDEO
-Connect the S-VIDEO out jackon the DVD
Player to the S-Video In jackon the TV using
the S-Video cable (5) (not included).
COMPONENT VIDEO
-Connect the COMPONENTjacks (Pr, Pb and Y)

AUTO PLAYBACK
The player will load the MP3 disc and auto start to
playbackfrom track one until the last track of the
root directory.
SELECT A TRACK
Press the MOVE button to highlight the desired
track and switch between folder and pages.
Press the ENTER button to play the selected track.

You may add the information of the MP3 file while
you create the disc, e.g. artist, song name and

Playa disc
1. POWER ON AND LOAD ADISC
Insert your DVD/CD into the slot on ALFiE's front panel. ALFiE will power on, slot the disc in, and play automatically.
To power on only,
just soft touch the POWER touch-sensitive switch on the top panel for acouple of seconds, or
press ON/STANDBY
button on the remote control. The LED brightens after you switch on the power.
2. SET UP YOUR TV SYSTEM
Select the corresponding setting of the TV set (AV1, AV2, etc) until the DVD power on screen appears.
3. SET UP YOUR DVD PLAYER
1) In STOP mode, press SETUP button on the remote control to display setup menu.
2) Access to "Video" sub menu and select PAL or NTSC system. See details on video output Setup for TV
system setting.
4. IF A DVD DISC MENU APPEARS ON SCREEN
Press OK button on the remote control to start playing.
Language setup

Default settings are

Enter this menu to setup the language using the on screen display,
DVD disc subtitle, DVD disc audio and DVD disc start menu.

The TV system menu sets up the output TV system to PAL or NTSC. To select:

1. ASPECT RATIO: 4:3 -select when astandard 4:3 TV is connected,
16:9 -select when a16:9 widescreen

3. TV SYSTEM: NTSC: NTSC is the analogue television system used in Canada, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines,

PAL: PAL is acolour encoding system used in broadcast TV systems in large parts of the world.

S-Video: S-video
is an analogue video signal that carries the video data as two separate signals

YUV: YUV is a component video output. Ystands for the luma component (the brightness) and

the chrominance (colour) components. The YPbPr colour model used in analogue
component video and its digital version YCbCr used in digital video. YPbPr is progressive scan

Radio Settings
1. SelECTING AM, FM1 OR FM2 RADIO Press SOURCE button on ALFiE's remote control, or soft touch SOURCE key

top panel of ALFiE to select AM, FM1 or FM2.

TO MEMORY (PRESETS) Tune to the station you want to save as apreset. Short

save your selected station.

VIEWING PRESET STATION FREQUENCY Press PRESET +[numbers] buttons to recall the preset and view the
stored AM/FM stations.
5. TALK
MODE Press TALK button, and TALK is displayed on the screen. It will reduce low frequencies effect during
talk in aradio program.

A. Clock mode: 1) Short press «1 sec.) to select the "Clock" setting modes: 12/24 Hours, Hour or Minute

B. Alarm mode 1) Long press (> 2 sec.) to select the "Alarm" setting modes: ALARM 1/ ALARM2, HOUR, MINUTE,
alarm outputs (AM Pl/FM1 Pl/FM2 P1/BEEPS/DVD) and ALARM ON/OFF.
2) Press ~0 keys to set the selected mode.
3) In alarm outputs mode, P1 (Preset 1) can be adjusted by pressing 1 to 9 number button.
2. SLEEP Press SLEEP button to set sleep time· °(not shown), 15,20, 30, 60, 90 minutes. Default: °
3. SNOOZE The snooze alarm will run for 10 minutes. To stop, long press CLOCK/ALARM button, select ALARM ON

1. TURN ON THE SYSTEM Press ON/STANDBY button on the remote control, or soft touch Power On/Off key on theTop
Panel,
to turn ALFiE on.
2. SELECT SOURCE Soft touch SOURCE key on the top panel, or press SOURCE button on ALFiE's remote control to select
iPod source input.
3. ACCESS MENU Press MENU button on the remote control to go back to the previous menu.
4. SELECT A MENU ITEM Press (!)@ buttons on the remote control to move up and down the highlight bar and press OK
button to select the item.
5. PLAY/PAUSE ASONG Soft touch II~ key on the Top Panel, or press II~ button on the remote control.
6. CHANGE THE VOLUME Soft touch (!)@ keys on theTop Panel, or press VOLUME +/- buttons.
7. SKIP TO THE NEXT SONG Soft touch ~~ next/fast-forward key on the Top Panel, or press .~ button on the remote control.
8. START ASONG OVER Soft touch ~~ previous/rewind key on theTop Panel, or press ~~ button on the remote control.
9. PLAY THE PREVIOUS SONG Soft touch ~~ key twice on the Top Panel, or press ~~ button twice on the remote control.
10. FAST-FORWARD Soft touch and hold .~ next/fast-forward key on theTop Panel, or, press and hold •• 1 button on the
remote control.
11. REWIND Soft touch and hold ~~ previous/rewind key on theTop Panel, or, press and hold ~~ button on the remote
control.
12. TV OUT Set your video capable iPod to TV out function, and view the video file on your TV.

Check
if the power cord has been properly connected to the power outlet.
Check the main power has been switched on.
Check adisc
is loaded.
Check
to see if the disc has been loaded upside down. Whoops!
The disc may
not be compatible with ALFiE
If the disc is damaged or dirty, clean the disc or try another disc.
Moisture may be condensed inside
the player - to check, remove the disc and leave the unit pow-
ered on for one or two hou rs.
Check if the TV set has powered on, use TV remote to select AN signal for DVD rather than broadcast.
Check
if ALFiE's connections are secure.
Check
if the connection cables are damaged.
Clean the disc, and
try again.
If the disc is dirty or damaged,clean the disc or try another disc.
Reset
the colour system of the player or the TV set.
Hook up ALFiE directly to your TV, instead of via other components, such as a VCR.
Select the screen format from the player's SETUP MENU, see "SETUP MENU" of this manual
Select the screen format from DVD disc menu.
Some discs are
programmed to prevent users to fast forward at some sections, especially at the
beginning 'warning' section.
Check
if the MUTE function of the system has been activated.
MP3 disc,
no
sound or noisy
Remote
control
does not function
When PC program files or other files are mixed with MP3 files in the same disc, the player may play
the non-MP3 files with noise or no sound.
Check
if the disc, if all the files on disc are MP3 files. Skip the file, try some other files.
Remove
the obstacles between the remote control and the player.
Point
the remote control towards the remote sensor on the player.
Check
if the battery of the remote control has been loaded correctly.

the battery of the remote control
