Your first trip: Navigate to a destination
With your ROUTE 66 product, you can trave more easi y and much faster. Let’s say that you wish to trave to a
restaurant in Amsterdam:
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect Lo ations .
 Type Amsterdam restaurant, or just amst rest and
confirm your choice .
 From the ist of resu ts, se ect the ocation that best
suits your needs, for examp e Caruso Amsterdam and
confirm your choice .
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your destination.

First steps
Prepare your device
To start using your ROUTE 66 product, you have to carry out the fo owing 4 steps:
 Charge the battery of the device.
 Insert the memory card into your device.
 Switch on your device and wait for a fixed GPS position.
 Launch your ROUTE 66 product.
Understanding the navigation screen

Depending on your preferences and the specifications of your device, the navigation screen wi be disp ayed as

Moving around the menus
Use the fo owing buttons to move through the product:

Go to the next screen or confirm choices made on the
current screen. For examp e, confirm anguage se ection
or start navigating.
Return to the previous screen or abort the current
action. For examp e, return to the route type se ection or
cance a search action.
Jump to the main navigation screen, regard ess of the
current screen.
(De)Se ect an item or option.
Move one screen up.
Move one screen down.
Filter ong ists of search resu ts.
De ete the se ected item in a ist.

Moving around the map
To view the map in a more convenient way, use the fo owing buttons:

* En arge the map view (zoom in). As you zoom in,
more detai s wi de disp ayed on the map.
# Decrease the map view (zoom out). As you zoom
out, ess detai s wi de disp ayed on the map.
You can scro the map by se ecting & ho ding the map and dragging it in the desired direction.

Using the keyboard
If your device has a physica keyboard, use the device buttons to se ect an option or to enter a va ue.
Using the filter
In onger ists, se ect the fi ter to narrow your search resu ts.
Enter a etter, a group of etters, or a word.
That keyword is searched for in a items of the ist.
The keyword can be detected anywhere in the ist: at the beginning, in the midd e or at the end of an item.

Main menu
First of a , spend a few minutes and read the fo owing overview of the main features of your ROUTE 66
product.
I on Name Des ription
Navigate to
Se ect this button to se ect a destination and start navigating to
it. Just se ect your home address or your office address; type the
name of a particu ar ocation; pick a Favourite ocation or a
recent y visited address (History); browse a huge co ection of
points-of-interest around your current position or around your
destination. Browse the map, se ect a ocation and start
navigating to it.
Map options
Se ect this button to customize your trave ing experience. Switch
from day view to night view. Disp ay your route in 2D or 3D
perspective. Set the map perspective. Show or hide your
favourites or the map sca e. View the egend and change co ours.
Choose which points-of-interest you want to disp ay on the map.

Sound on /
Sound off Switch the speaker on or off.
Points-of-
interest
Se ect this button to define and maintain categories of points-of-
interest. Fi these POI categories with ocations you visited or
discovered during your trips. Set a erts.
Favourites
Se ect this button to store and maintain addresses or destinations
that you visit frequent y or that are of great importance to you.
Save them as favourites. Add favourites to your trips.
Zoom to Think of this button as a powerfu too to ocate a particu ar
ocation on the map.
Change settings
Customize the overa functioning of the product. Set the
anguage of the user interface and the voice instructions. Set the
back ight, the time indicator or the automatic zooming. Switch
from metric units to imperia units. Contro the sound vo ume of
the voice instructions. Specify the preferred type of route for
trave ing. Set safety indicators, inc uding a arm and speed.
Specify what to avoid a ong your route (motorways, to roads,
ferries).
Plan a route
Choose your departure ocation, your destination ocation and,
optiona y, as many stopovers (intermediate ocations) as you
need. Then, ca cu ate the route, read the route description and
start navigating.
Navigate via
Se ect this button to compose a route that contains one or severa
stopovers and start navigating. Choose at east the departure
ocation and destination ocation; if your route inc udes severa
stopovers (intermediate ocations), add each of them as another
waypoint to your route.
TMC information
Se ect this button to receive the atest traffic messages on your
device. In this way, you can avoid traffic jams, road works or
accidents that occur a ong your route.
GPS information Check the status of the GPS receiver.
Help Access the ist of he p topics and the copyright information.
Statisti s View statistica data about your current trip.

Navigate to a lo ation
Now you are ready for your first trip. Se ect a destination and start navigating.
When you are in the Navigate to screen, se ect:
Icon Name Description
Home This is an address or ocation you frequent y navigate to,
for examp e your home address.
Offi e This is an address or ocation you frequent y navigate to,
for examp e your company headquarters.
Lo ation Search for a ocation by typing its name.
Favourites
These are the addresses or ocations you saved for
future trips. Instead of searching for a ocation each
time you need it, you can save it as a favourite and
se ect it as often as you want.
History Here you can find the ocations that you have visited
recent y.
Conta ts Simp y se ect a contact from your address book and
navigate to it.
POI around GPS
position
These are points-of-interest (POI) around your current
GPS position.
POI around destination These are points-of-interest (POI) near the destination
of your trip.
Point on map Browse the map and indicate any ocation.
For detai s about finding ocations, read the Working with lo ations chapter.

Working with locations
Locations. Addresses. P aces. Points on the map. These are the basic e ements that you can use to compose a
new trip. A ocation can be your departure, your destination, or any intermediate waypoint.
How to take advantage of the avai ab e ocations?
•search ocations by name;
•search the categories of points-of-interest around your current ocation or around your
destination ;
•define your home address or your office address ;
•customize your favourites ;
•organize the ocations you visited recent y (History) ;
•from your address book, se ect a contact ;
•scro over the map and indicate any ocation.

Navigate to your home address
Imagine that you have just finished a business meeting far away in the countryside or in an unknown city. And
a you want to do now is to go home. Wou dn’t it be nice to se ect Home and start navigating to your
destination? That’s possib e now!
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect Home .
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your home address.
 This option is avai ab e on y if you have defined your home address before!
Navigate to your office address
With your ROUTE 66 product, it’s so easy to start trave ing to your workp ace, be it an office, a university or a
construction site.
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect Offi e .
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your office address.
 This option is avai ab e on y if you have defined your office address before!

Find an address and navigate to it
You are driving to an important meeting. But, sudden y, your secretary informs you that there is a ast-minute
change: the meeting wi take p ace in another city and in another hote . Switch on your device, search for this
ocation, and start navigating to it. A in a few seconds!
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect Lo ations .
 Type the name of the city, for examp e Amsterdam or just amst. Because the ist of possib e
ocations cou d be arge, narrow your search by typing another keyword, for examp e hotel or just hot.
When you have entered a search strings, confirm them .
 Wait for a few seconds. When the ist of resu ts is disp ayed, pick out the ocation that you are
ooking for. Confirm your choice .
 If no resu t is found, repeat step  and enter another search string!
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your destination.

Navigate to a favourite location
Let’s say that you frequent y trave to the same ocation, for examp e a gas station, a ski resort or a cinema.
These are your favourite ocations. Wou d you ike to store them into a persona fo der? You wi never ose
them again! Your ROUTE 66 product ets you carry them with you, find them quick y, and easi y navigate to
them.
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect Favourites .
 The ist of ocations you have saved before as favourites is now disp ayed on the screen. Se ect
the fi ter if necessary. Se ect the ocation you need and confirm your choice .
 If no favourite ocation was saved before, the ist of favourites is empty!
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your destination.

Navigate to a recently visited location History)
Let’s say that ast week you had a great time visiting a nationa park in the mountains. This weekend you wou d
ike to go to that same ocation again. You can try to remember a trave ing detai s, but that’s not a ways easy.
Or, you can simp y go to your History ist and find the address you visited ast week. Then, se ect it as your
destination for this weekend.
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect History .
 The ist with the ocations you have visited recent y is now disp ayed on the screen. Se ect the
fi ter if necessary. Se ect Delete to de ete the se ected item; se ect Delete all to de ete a
items. Se ect an item in the ist and confirm your choice .
 If this is your first trip, the Sele t from history ist is empty!
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your destination.

Navigate to a contact
You are an active businessperson. You have a dynamic persona ity. You re y every day on your address book
and your contacts. Wou dn’t it be nice to turn on your device, se ect the contact you need, and start navigating
to your destination?
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect Conta ts .
 From the ist of avai ab e contacts, se ect the contact you need and confirm your choice .
 On y the contacts with a va id address are disp ayed!
 A contact can have severa addresses! Each address is disp ayed as a separate entry!
 From the ist of avai ab e addresses, se ect the ocation you need and confirm your choice .
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your destination.

Navigate to a POI around your GPS position
Let’s say that you are spending your ho iday in an unknown city (which is now your current GPS position). You
wou d ike to visit as many points-of-interest as possib e, for examp e museums, casinos and ibraries. You
cou d ask the hote personne for detai s and driving instructions, but that takes time. Or, you can use your
device to se ect a POI category and then a specific POI. Then, it’s up to you to decide which ocation you want
to visit first!
 In Main Menu , se ect Navigate to .
 Se ect POI around GPS position .
 Se ect a re evant POI category, for examp e Casino and confirm your choice .
 The resu ts are sorted by distance: the first POI in the ist is the c osest to your GPS position.
Se ect the fi ter if necessary. Se ect an item from the ist and confirm your choice .
 If there is no ocation that meets your search criteria, the No sear h results! message is disp ayed!
That’s a ! Now you can start navigating to your destination.
