It is mandatory to read this User Manual to ensure that this equipment is used correctly & safely.

PRODUCT INFORMATION
This user guide covers the following products:-
SA POWERNET EX Splitter Unit - An Ex certified portable power distribution unit consisting
of a GRP enclosure fitted with up to 4 sockets mounted in a marine grade stainless steel frame.
There is a range of voltages available as follows, along with various cables, plugs and socket types.

WARRANTY
The SA POWERNET EX Splitter Unit has a product warranty of one year from the date of delivery.
The warranty does not cover cables. The warranty covers only materials and manufacturing defects.
User abuse and/or failure to comply with these instructions will invalidate the warranty and may also
invalidate the safety certification. The information supplied in this user manual does not in any way
remove any responsibility from the user of the Splitter Unit.

BEFORE USE
IMPORTANT! - ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Always ensure you know how to use any electrical equipment before use.
Misuse of electrical equipment can result in injury or death.
Only connect the SA LUMIN EX Splitter Unit to a properly installed power supply system.
Check the supply is providing the correct voltage and current for the Splitter Unit, this is clearly
displayed on the type label.
If you use extension leads make sure these are suitable for your requirements.
Never put cables or Splitter Units where they could be damaged or could become a hazard
to yourself or someone else.
The equipment is to be used properly and according to its ratings, documentation and local/site
regulations.
You are responsible to ensure that any equipment is suitable for the environment in which it will
be used and you should consult the manufacturer before using the unit in or around potentially
aggressive substances.
The personnel using the unit have to be authorized by the operator or his representative.
The operator is also responsible for the safety of the equipment.
You must make sure that the equipment is selected, installed and used in accordance
with regulations (EN60079-14) and is checked before use.
This equipment must be kept in a suitable state by regular inspection and maintenance, see page 4.
This equipment must only be used for its intended purpose.
The Splitter unit is supplied fitted with a separately certified plug to suit the user’s requirements. It is
the operator’s responsibility to check the certification of the plug and ensure it is suitable for the area
it is being used in, including taking account of any ambient temperature limits and specific conditions
of use.
If you are unsure about anything, get help before proceeding.
IMPORTANT
This SA POWERNET EX Splitter Unit must not be taken into a Zone 0 area.

DURING USE
OPERATING THE SA POWERNET EX SPLITTER UNIT
Position and set up the Splitter Unit according to the previous instructions.
Check that the Splitter Unit is safe for use and has no defects, paying particular attention to the
external cables and the electrical enclosures.
The Splitter Unit can then be connected to the correct supply. The supply voltage should be within the
voltage range shown on the product type label.
The supply voltage should not vary by more than +/-10% of the voltage on the product type label.
Maximum current is 16A unless otherwise stated on the marking label. Please ensure that the
equipment connected does not exceed the maximum rating of the splitter unit.
Please ensure that the equipment used has the correct plugs to correlate to the Splitter Unit sockets.
Forcing incompatible sockets will damage the unit and invalidate the warranty/certification.
If the Splitter Unit gets damaged during use it must be immediately disconnected from the supply and
removed to a safe area for inspection and test. Correct use of the equipment should help to ensure
that it is not damaged. If you would like more information on ancillary products, please contact the

INSPECTION & MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
Maintenance may be carried out only outside the EX area.
Isolate the Splitter Unit from the mains supply and allow to cool before carrying out any maintenance
work.
The Splitter Unit should be cleaned when necessary using a damp cloth. If necessary use neutral
soap. No detergents or solvents are allowed. Do not allow dirt and/or dust to accumulate on the
equipment.
Operator is responsible to comply with the all applicable regulations including:EN60079-14,
EN60079-17 and EN60079-19.
Basic repairs can be carried out by a competent electrician.
No repairs to individual components used are permitted.
No user modifications are permitted and only original spares from SA Equip must be used. The use of
any other parts will invalidate any warranty and could compromise the safety and functionality of the
equipment.

CERTIFICATION
The SA POWERNET EX Splitter Unit is ATEX and IECEX certified as portable equipment for use in Zone 1
and 2 (Gas) and Zone 21 and 22 (Dust) areas. Each transformer has a marking plate bearing the specific
product information and certification details as follows:

INGRESS PROTECTION IP66 (or as marked on the product - see chart below)
Suitable for use outdoors in all normal weather conditions as the electrical enclosures have at least
this level of ingress protection.
OPERATING TEMPERATURE Ta -**°C to +**°C
The chart below shows the minimum and maximum ambient temperatures that the SA POWERNET
EX Splitter Unit are certified for use in. This varies according to the plug and sockets as follows:
ATX all voltages Ta -40°C to +55°C IP66
CEAG 110V/230V Ta -55°C to +55°C IP65
CEAG 24/42V Ta -25°C to +55°C IP54
Stahl 110V/230V Ta -50°C to +45°C IP66
Stahl 24V/42V Ta -50°C to +40°C IP66
Special versions with increased ambient temperature range are available in some variations
