This unit oers you the same quality electronics that we have been building into our
basses for over 30 years. Here are a few tips to help you get maximum performance from
your preamp.
Volume
In most cases the volume control should be set to maximum. If you are using a small amplier,
the use of the preamp might overload the preamp stage of your amplier causing some
distortion or clipping. In this case, lower the volume control on the preamp to reduce the gain
of the input into your amplier. If you plan to toggle between an active setting and bypass, use
the volume control to set the desired gain for the active setting.
Treble & Bass
The treble and bass controls are boost only - at response is with the controls at their complete
counterclockwise position. Do not automatically go to full treble and bass boost - start from
at response and then boost treble and bass as desired. Although you are free to adjust the
settings anyway that pleases you, our experience is that once you nd the optimal setting for
your bass, you will not have to make frequent adjustments of the tone controls.
On/O Switch
This footswitch enables you to engage or bypass the active tone circuit. The green LED lights
up when the preamp section is 'On'. The volume / treble / bass controls do not function in
the 'O' mode. All other functions (Dl, tuner out, mute) work in the 'O' mode. If you want to
switch between on and o with the same bass, use the volume control to adjust the level for
the 'On' position. The On/O switch has no eect on the battery life. The battery is switched on
whenever a cord is plugged into the input jack.
