OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
750 Series: Manual Reset
1. With th wat r l v l abov th prob , turn on th pow r and s t th th rmostat to call for
h at. Th burn r will fir imm diat ly. Th LED lamps should b off.
2. Slowly low r th wat r l v l b low th prob . Th amb r light will com on and th burn r
will shut down within two s conds.
3. Wait 3O seconds. Th r d LED lamp will com on indicating that th control is lock d-out.
4. Rais th wat r abov th prob . Th r d LED lamp will r main lit and th burn r will
not fir .
5. Push th RESET button to r s t th control and r stor burn r op ration.
650 Series: Automatic Reset & Test Button
1. With th wat r l v l abov th prob , turn on th pow r and s t th th rmostat to call for
h at. Th burn r will fir imm diat ly. Th LED lamp should b off.
2. Push th t st button on th top of th control to simulat a low wat r condition. Th LED
lamp will light and th burn r will shut down within two s conds.
550 Series: Manual Reset & Test Button
Follow th op rating instructions for th 750 & 650 S ri s abov .
Note: To t st th manual r s t f atur on th 550 S ri s without low ring th wat r l v l:
1. Push and hold down th TEST button. Th r d LED lamp will com on in approximat ly
3O seconds indicating that th control is lock d-out.
2. Onc th r d LED is lit, r l as th TEST button. Th burn r will not fir .
3. Push th RESET button to r s t th control and r stor burn r op ration.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
IF THE BURNER DOES NOT SHUT DOWN

th prob to any surfac within th boil r or t .
IF THE BURNER DOES NOT FIRE
1. Mak sur wat r is at prob and prob l ad wir is
prop rly s cur d to th t rminal.
2. Ch ck for prop r ground b tw n prob and boil r
sh ll. Exc ssiv us of T flon tap or s aling com-
pound may insulat th prob from th boil r sh ll.
3. R -ch ck wiring and t st for corr ct incoming voltag .
IF THE RED LED LAMP IS ON
Th r d LED lamp indicat s that th control is lock d-out.
This f atur will activat if th boil r xp ri nc s a low
wat r condition xc ding 30 s conds in duration.
IMPORTANT: Do not r s t control until th caus of th
low wat r condition is corr ct d. CAUTION: Do not add
water until boiler is cool.
MAINTENANCE
To nsur optimum p rformanc , insp ct prob annually.
Cl an any scal or build-up from th prob using a scour-
ing pad or st l wool. R -install th prob and t st control
in accordanc with th Op rating Instructions.
Wh n a Safgard 550/750 is us d as a s condary low wat r cut-off on a st am boil r, th following wiring instructions should b us d. Th diagram b low
d picts th 550/750 as a s condary control wir d in s ri s with a Safgard Mod l 450/CG450. Consult boil r manufactur r’s instructions for th location of a
tapping r comm nd d for a s condary low wat r cut-off. CAUTION – Mod l 550/750 should not b us d as a primary cut-off on a st am boil r.
On som installations it may b n c ssary to mount th s condary cut-off at a
l v l in clos proximity to th primary cut-off l v l. In th s situations, wh n
th primary low wat r cut-off shuts down th boil r, th wat r lin can s ttl
b low th s condary cut-off causing nuisanc lockouts. Th wiring diagram at
th right is d sign d to pr v nt th s lockouts. NOTE: This wiring m thod can
only b us d if th pow r supply from th primary cut-off is 120 VAC.
