• This kettle has been designed
specically for the purpose of
boiling drinking quality water
only. Under no circumstances
should this product be used
to boil any other liquids or
foodstus.
• Position the appliance on
a stable, heat resistant, level,
dry surface away from the
edge and do not operate on
or near a heat source such
as a hot plate, oven or gas hob.
• Do not operate the kettle
on a sink drain board.
• Do not place the kettle on
or near a hot gas burner,
electric element or where
it could touch a heated oven.
• Position the appliance at
least 20cm from walls or heat/
steam sensitive materials
and provide adequate space
above and on all sides for
air circulation.
• Always ensure the kettle
is properly assembled before
use. Follow the instructions
provided in this book.
• The kettle must be used only
with the power base supplied.
• This kettle is not intended
to be operated by means of
an external timer or separate
remote control system.
• Do not touch hot surfaces.
Use the handle for lifting
and carrying the kettle.

SAGE®RECOMMENDS SAFETY FIRST
• Do not place anything on top
of the lid.
• Always ensure the appliance
is turned OFF, unplugged
at the power outlet and has
been allowed to cool before
cleaning, attempting to move
or storing. Use caution when
pouring water from the kettle,
as boiling water and steam
will scald. Do not pour water
too quickly.
• Do not remove the kettle
from the power base during
operation. Ensure the kettle is
switched to ‘o’ position after
the water has boiled before
removing the kettle from the
power base.
• Do not move the kettle while
it is switched on.
• Do not open the lid during
operation.
• Do not overll the kettle past
the maximum water level
mark. If the kettle is overlled,
boiling water may be ejected.
• Keep the kettle clean. Follow
the cleaning instructions
provided in this book.

• Fully unwind the power cord
before operating.
• Do not let the power cord hang
over the edge of a bench or
table, touch hot surfaces or
become knotted. Children
should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
• The appliance can be used
by children aged 8 or older
and persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or a lack of
experience and knowledge,
only if they have been given
supervision or instruction
concerning use of the
appliance in a safe way and
understand the hazards
involved.
• Misuse may cause injury.
• Always disconnect the
appliance from the supply if it
is left unattended and before
assembling, disassembling
and cleaning.
• It is recommended to regularly
inspect the appliance.To
avoid a hazard do not use
the appliance if power cord,
power plug or appliance
becomes damaged in any way.
Return the entire appliance
to the nearest authorised
Sage Service Centre for
examination and/or repair.
• Any maintenance other than
cleaning should be performed
at an authorised Sage
Service Centre.

To protect against electric
shock, do not immerse
the kettle base, power base,
power cord or power plug in
water or allow moisture to come
in contact with these parts.
Avoid spilling water onto the
power base’s connector.
• The installation of a residual
current device (safety switch
is recommended to provide
additional safety protection
when using electrical
appliances. It is advisable that
a safety switch with a rated
residual operating current not
exceeding 30mA be installed
in the electrical circuit
supplying the appliance.

to the o position, switch o
at the power outlet and unplug
at the power outlet when the
appliance is not in use.

NOTE
This product is not calibrated for commercial
or scientic use. Temperatures may vary
+/-3 °C degrees, being within range for
optimal brewing for each type of tea or coee.
KEEP WARM FUNCTION
The Sage®Smart Kettle™ Pure oers a convenient
KEEP WARM function that can be used before,
during or on completion of the water heating
cycle. When the water has reached the selected
Celsius temperature, the KEEP WARM function
will hold the selected temperature for 20 minutes.
To activate the KEEP WARM function, rst press
the desired water temperature button from the
ve options on the control panel. Then press the
KEEP WARM button, followed by the START/
CANCEL button to commence heating the water.
Alternatively, the KEEP WARM button can be
activated at any time during the heating cycle
and/or within one minute after the heating cycle
has completed.
If the kettle is removed from the power base
during the KEEP WARM function the kettle will
automatically switch o.

OPERATING YOUR SAGE®PRODUCT
BEFORE FIRST USE
Remove and safely discard any packaging
material or promotional labels attached to your
kettle. It is recommended that before rst use
to ll the kettle to the maximum level, bring
to the boil by selecting the BOIL 100° button,
then discard the water.
OPERATION OF YOUR KETTLE
1. Fill with the desired amount of water.
NOTE
Always ll the kettle between the minimum
(500ml) and maximum (1700ml) marks on
the water window.
2. Ensure the lid is closed and locked rmly
into place. Position the kettle securely onto
the power base. Insert the power plug into
a 220–240 power outlet and switch on.
NOTE
If the START/CANCEL button is pressed
(before selecting a temperature button),
the START/CANCEL button surround
will illuminate in red and the 100° button
surround will illuminate and the kettle will
start heating.
3. Select the desired temperature.The selected
button and the START/CANCEL button
surround will illuminate in white.
4. Press the START/CANCEL button. Do not
remove the kettle from the power base during
operation. Ensure the kettle has switched
o after the water has boiled or the selected
temperature has been reached before removing
the kettle from the power base. If the kettle
is removed from the power base during
the KEEP WARM function the kettle will
automatically switch o.
5. When the kettle has heated the water to the
selected temperature, 3 beeps will sound.
6. If the KEEP WARM function has been
selected, the KEEP WARM button surround
will remain illuminated in red, the selected
temperature button surround will remain
illuminated in white, and the kettle will
maintain the desired setting for 20 minutes.
SAFETY BOIL DRY PROTECTION
The kettle is tted with a safety device, which
protects against overheating should the appliance
be operated with insucient water. If this occurs
the kettle will stop heating. Switch O at the power
point and allow kettle to cool before relling.
The safety device will automatically reset when
the kettle has cooled down.
Always switch o at the power outlet and unplug
the appliance from the power outlet before
cleaning.
REMOVABLE FILTER
The Smart Kettle™Pure features a removable mesh
lter to remove scale deposits for cleaner water.
To clean the scale deposits from the lter, remove
the lter by opening the lid and sliding the lter up
and out of the kettle.
The lter can be cleaned by placing under
running hot water and rubbing with a cleaning
cloth or brush. To replace the lter, simply slide
the lter down into the slot behind the spout
of the kettle and push back into position.
NOTE
The lter could become damaged with time,
so please check regularly and replace
if found damaged.

Always switch O at the power outlet and
unplug the appliance from the power outlet
before cleaning.
METAL FILTER
The kettle features a metal lter to remove scale
deposits for cleaner water.
The lter can be cleaned by placing under
running water and rubbing with a cleaning cloth
or brush.
NOTE
The concealed element in the base of the
kettle is made from high quality stainless
steel. Any brown stains appearing are the
result of mineral deposits and are not rust.
DESCALING
It is essential that regular descaling takes place.
Frequency will depend on the usage of the kettle
and the hardness of the water in your area. A build-
up of scale may cause the inside of the kettle to
discolour and ultimately may damage the element.
This will aect the eciency of the appliance
and may invalidate the warranty agreement.
1. Empty one sachet (25g) into 1 litre
of warm water, stir to dissolve.
2. Pour into the kettle.
3. Leave stand for 5 minutes.
4. After 5 minutes, discard the solution.
5. Rinse the kettle or tea maker twice with fresh
clean water.
TO CLEAN THE EXTERIOR
The outside of the kettle should be wiped with
a damp cloth then polished with a soft, dry cloth.
NOTE
Do not use chemicals, steel wool, or abrasive
cleaners to clean the inside or outside
of the kettle.
NOTE
Do not place a load on the top of the glass
or knock the glass on a hard surface or drop
the kettle as the glass may break. Always
take care cleaning or lling the kettle.
WARNING
To prevent damage to
the appliance, do not use
alkaline cleaning agents
when cleaning. Use a soft
cloth and mild detergent.
WARNING
Never immerse the kettle
base, power base, power
cord or power plug in water,
or allow moisture to come
in contact with these parts.
