Congratulations on purchasing our Salton Elite Food Collection 12L Convection Oven..
Each unit is manufactured to ensure safety and reliability. Before using this appliance for
the first time, please read the instruction manual carefully and keep it for future
reference.
FEATURES OF THE SALTON ELITE 12L CONVECTION OVEN
1. Multi-function
With hot air circle and 60~250℃temperature range, the convection oven has a lot to
offer:
a. Cook food in different ways including baking, roasting, grilling and reheating.
b. Defrost frozen foods quickly.
c. Drying and sterilizing.
2. Fat free cooking
Cooking with the convection roaster has a result as the reduction of fat and assists with
cholesterol problems.
3. Saving time and energy
Due to the high efficiency of the hot air movement in the oven, the cooking time and the
consumption of energy are reduced to minimum.
4. Preserving the food’s nutrition and the natural flavour.
High temperature and prolonged cooking time always destroys the food’s nutrition and
changes its natural flavour. But the temperature and timer controls of the convection
oven can solve these problems.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed
including the following:
1. Please read the instructions carefully before using any appliance.
2. Always ensure that the voltage on the rating label corresponds to the mains
voltage in your home.
3. Incorrect operation and improper use can damage the appliance and cause injury
to the user.

4. The appliance is intended for household use only. Commercial use invalids the
warranty and the supplier cannot be held responsible for injury or damage
caused when using the appliance for any other purpose than that intended.
5. Avoid any contact with moving parts.
6. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
7. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
8. Check the power cord and plug regularly for any damage. If the cord or the plug
is damaged, the manufacturer or a qualified person must replace it in order to
avoid an electrical hazard.
9. Please do not touch hot parts of the convection oven, only touch the appliance by
its handle, if necessary use an oven cloth to do so.
10. Always take care when cooking or preparing food with oil or fat, as overheating
may cause a hazard to occur.
11. Never use the Cooker with anything plastic (including bags) inside the glass
bowl.
12. Let the appliances cool down completely before you clean it or put it away. Never
move the appliance when it is full, when switched on or before it has cooled
down.
13. Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped or damaged in any way. In case
of damage, take the unit in for examination and/or repair by an authorised service
agent.
14. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not immerse or expose the motor
assembly, plug or the power cord to water or any other liquid.
15. Never immerse the full unit in water or any other liquid for cleaning purposes.
16. Remove the plug from the socket by gripping the plug. Do not pull on the cord to
disconnect the appliance from the mains. Always unplug the unit when not in
use, before cleaning or when adding or removing parts.
17. The use of accessory attachments that are not recommended or supplied by the
manufacturer may result in injuries, fire or electric shock.
18. A short cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

19. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter. Ensure that the cord
is not in a position where it can be pulled on inadvertently.
20. Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces and do not place on or near a hot gas
or electric burner or in a heated oven.
21. Do not use the appliance on a gas or electric cooking top or over or near an open
flame.
22. Use of an extension cord with the appliance is not recommended. However, if it
is necessary to use an extension lead, ensure that the lead is suited to the power
consumption of the appliance to avoid overheating of the extension cord,
appliance or plug point. Do not place the extension cord in a position where it can
be pulled on by children or animals or tripped over.
23. This appliance is not suitable for outdoor use. Do not use this appliance for
anything other than its intended use.
24. DO NOT carry the appliance by the power cord.
25. Do not leave the appliance unattended during use. Always unplug the unit when
not in use or before cleaning.
26. Always operate the appliance on a smooth, even, stable surface. Do not place
the unit on a hot surface.
27. Ensure that the switch is in the “Off” position after each use.
28. The manufacturer does not accept responsibility for any damage or injury caused
by improper or incorrect use, or for repairs carried out by unauthorised
personnel.
29. In case of technical problems, switch off the machine and do not attempt to repair
it yourself. Return the appliance to an authorised service facility for examination,
adjustment or repair. Always insist on the use of original spare parts. Failure to
comply with the above mentioned pre-cautions and instructions, could affect the
safe operation of this machine.
30. Place the lid on the glass bowl after use to cool.
31. Remember that the outer and inner surfaces, rack, tray and underside of the
cooking lid get hot ad remain hot for some time after use.

PARTS DIAGRAM
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Check that the voltage of the appliance corresponds to the mains voltage of your home.
Remove all packaging from INSIDE and OUTSIDE and be sure you understand the
controls on your Convection oven. Therefore, BE SURE TO READ THESE
INSTRUCTIONS FIRST BEFORE PROCEEDING. MAKE SURE IT IS SITUATED IN
LINE WITH THE IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS outlined in this booklet.
Wash the accessories and glass bowl in warm soapy water, rinse well and dry
thoroughly before first use.
It is normal if some smoke or odour emanates from the appliance when first used.

Ensure temperature selector is set to 0.
BEFORE FIRST USE…practice disassembly and assembly of the accessories; in
particular the Tongs (for the Cooking Racks) and the Cooking Lid Holder.
Practice with the Cooker switched off, disconnected and empty.
How to use:
•Put the steel grill into the glass container, and then place the food inside. With the
supplied tong you can easily take the grill out of the glass bowl. Please make sure
that there is some space between the food and the heater cover.
•Insert the plug according to the power socket.
•Press down the lid handle, you will hear a click sound. It shows that the side switch is
turned on. For safety precautions, the oven will not operate if the lever has not been
pressed down completely.
•Select the desired time and temperature by using the timer and temperature controls.
When you set the timer the green light (POWER) will light up. The red light (HEAT)
will not light up until you have set the temperature control to 50 degrees or higher.
•The red light (HEAT) will switch itself off from time to time; this means that the
convection oven has reached the desired temperature. The temperature light (RED)
will light up automatically when the temperature is lower than desired.
•After use, please lift up the lid handle, and pull out the plug from the wall socket and
take the lid off the device.
PLEASE NOTE
1. The glass bowl becomes hot during use.Do not touch the glass bowl, keep
children out of the way and do not leave the device unattended when you are using
it.
2. During cooking, if you need to move the lid, be sure to lift up the lid handle first. This
is for safety- if you do not lift up the handle first you may hurt yourself. The lid itself is
also hot, so do not place it on a surface that maybe damaged by the heat. Rather
place it on a heat resistant surface.
3. Place the device on a hard surface where there is no risk that it may fall.
4. Only clean the lid with a moist cloth. Never immerse it in water!
5. Never place the glass bowl into cold water when it is still warm. Wait until the glass

bowl has completely cooled down before you start cleaning it. Oven lid can NOT be
placed on other containers to cook.

WINTER BEANS AND ROASTED VEGETABLES
INGREDIENTS
Kidney beans, dried 125g
Water 3 Litres
Red speckled beans dried 125g
Water 3 Litres
Butternut peeled and cut into 1 cm cubes 250g
Carrots cut into thin strips 100g
Turnips cut into 12 wedges each ½
Baby potatoes cut into quarters 125g
Green beans cut into thin strips 75g
Cauliflower in pieces 100g
Onions, cut into wedges 100g
Dried fruit mix cut into chunky pieces 92g

Sweet basil dried 1 tsp
Thyme dried pinch
Garlic oil 1/2 Tbsp
Greek dressing 3 Tbsp
Parsley chopped 1/4 cup
Aromat pinch
Vegetable stock powder 1 tsp
Pepper black crushed pinch
Salt pinch
METHOD
1 Soak Beans overnight in plenty of water
2 Drain and set aside. Do NOT rinse
3 Cook separately in water, no salt, until just about tender
4 Add salt and cook until tender
5 Drain and set aside. Do NOT rinse
6 Combine vegetables and beans in a suitable bowl, add sweet basil, thyme, garlic
oil
Aromat, vegetable stock powder, crushed black pepper and salt and toss until
well mixed
7 Place single layered into solid tray or casserole dish and roast in a preheated
oven 250'c for +-15 minutes or until vegetables are al dente
8 Remove and add dried fruit and bake for another 5 minutes
9 Remove and while still hot add Greek salad dressing
10 Once cooled down add chopped parsley
This dish can be served on its own or as a vegetable with roasted meat, poultry
or fish
CAPE BOBOTIE
INGREDIENTS:
Beef mince 250g
Oil 1 Tbsp
Onions diced 125g
Beef stock powder 1 tsp
Water 125ml
Garlic crushed 1/2 tsp
Ginger ground 1/2 tsp
Cloves whole 1
Curry powder mild 1/2 Tbsp
Turmeric 1.2 tsp
Sweet basil dried 1/2 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Pepper black crushed1/2 tsp
Apricot jam 40g
Raisins 1/4 cup
Apricot chopped 125g

TOPPING
Milk 125ml
Curry powder MILD 2 tsp
Salt 1/4 tsp
METHOD
1 Pre heat oven to 160`c
2 In a large sauce pan heat oil, then add mince and fry until all liquid has
evaporated
3 Add onions and fry for 5 minutes
4 Add stock powder, garlic, ginger, cloves, curry powder, turmeric, sweet basil, salt
and pepper and fry for 30 seconds
5 Add apricot jam, raisins and apricots and fry for a further 30 seconds
6 Add water and bring to boil once, then remove from heat
7 Transfer bobotie mixture into an oven proof dish or roasting pan
DO NOT PRESS MIXTURE DOWN!
8 Beat all ingredients for topping together and pour over bobotie mince mixture
9 Place into pre heated oven and bake until topping has set +- 15 min
10 Allow to cool before cutting into portions
CHICKEN AND VEGETABLE PROVENCAL
INGREDIENTS
Chicken breasts, whole, skinned 2
Broccoli head, medium 1
Carrot, thinly sliced 1
Onion, thinly sliced 1
Parsley, chopped 3 Tbsp
Basil 1 Tbsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Pepper 1/4 tsp
Chicken stock 1/2 cup
Garlic, cloves minced 2
Juice of a lemon 1
METHOD
1 Preheat oven to 200'c
2 Add ingredients into a casserole dish and bake for +- 40 min
3 Remove and serve with fragrant rice

SWEET POTATO FRIES WITH GARLIC AND HERBS
INGREDIENTS
Sweet potatoes, wedges 750g
Salt 3/4 tsp
Pepper black, crushed 2/4 tsp
Parsley chopped 3/4 tsp
Coriander chopped 3/4 tsp
Thyme dried 1/2 tsp
Olive Oil 1½ tsp
Garlic Oil 3/4 tsp
Aromat 1½tsp
Onions, cut into small cubes 1½ tsp
METHOD
1 Preheat oven to 200 'c
2 Peel sweet potatoes then cut lengthwise in half, then in wedges.
3 Place cut sweet potatoes into a suitable bowl, add olive oil, garlic oil, pepper and
onions and toss until well coated
4 Spread out onto a baking tray in a single layer
5 Sprinkle with salt and place into preheated oven.
6 Bake at 200` c for +-30 minutes, until tender and golden brown, turning sweet
potato chips occasionally.
7 Mix chopped parsley, daniah, thyme and Aromat and sprinkle over baked sweet
potato fries
Serve with any meat or poultry dish or on its own
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
•This appliance is for household use only and is not user-serviceable.
•Do not open or change any parts by yourself. Please refer to a qualified electrical
service department or return to the supplier if servicing is necessary.
•Always remember to unplug the unit from the electrical outlet when not in use
and before cleaning. Ensure that the speed control is set to “0”.
•Do not use bleach or other abrasive substance or solvents to clean your
appliance as it can be damaging to the finish.
•Do not immerse the whole unit in water or any other liquid, or hold it under a
running tap to clean.

•Wait until the unit is completely cool before cleaning. Do not touch the underside
of the Cooking Lid as it will stay hot for quite some time after you have unplugged
the appliance.
•Clean the outside of the Cooking Lid and the cradle of the glass bowl with warm
soapy water.
•The glass bowl can be cleaned in the dishwasher, but note that frequent cleaning
in the dishwasher may result in crazing of the glass surface.
•The accessories and glass bowl can be cleaned in warm soapy water, and for
burnt on food debris it may help to soak the parts.
SELF CLEANING of the Convection Oven
•You can set temperature to approx 80
o
C to clean the bowl and the cooking racks
if neither are heavily soiled.
•Add water and a dash of dish washing liquid, fill the glass bowl half way, and set
timer for 10-minutes. Repeat if necessary.
•Thoroughly dry all parts of the appliance.
•To remove stubborn spots/marks, wipe the surfaces with a cloth slightly
dampened in soapy water or mild non-abrasive cleaner. Rinse and dry with a
clean, dry, soft cloth.
•
STORING THE APPLIANCE
•Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and clean all the parts as instructed above.
Ensure that all parts are dry before storing.
•Store the appliance in its box or in a clean, dry place.
•Never store the appliance while it is still wet or dirty.
•Never wrap the power cord around the appliance.
SERVICING THE APPLIANCE
There are no user serviceable parts in this appliance. If the unit is not operating
correctly, please check the following:
•You have followed the instructions correctly
•That the unit has been wired correctly and that the wall socket is switched on.
•That the mains power supply is ON.
•That the plug is firmly in the mains socket.

If the appliance still does not work after checking the above:
- Consult the retailer for possible repair or replacement. If the retailer fails to resolve the
problem and you need to return the appliance, make sure that:
•The unit is packed carefully back into its original packaging.
•Proof of purchase is attached.
•A reason is provided for why it is being returned.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised
service agent, in order to avoid any hazard. If service becomes necessary within the
warranty period, the appliance should be returned to an approved Tedelex Trading (Pty)
Limited service centre. Servicing outside the warranty period is still available, but will,
however, be chargeable.
CHANGING THE PLUG
Should the need arise to change the fitted plug, follow the instructions below.
This unit is designed to operate on the stated current only. Connecting to other
power sources may damage the appliance. Connect a three-pin plug as follows:
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
Green/Yellow = Earth
Blue = Neutral
Brown = Live

W A R R A N T Y
1.
Tedelex Trading (Pty) Limited (“Tedelex”) warrants to the original purchaser of this
product (“the customer”) that this product will be free of defects in uality and
workmanship which under normal personal, family or household use and purpose
may manifest within a period of 1 (one) year from the date of purchase (“warranty
period”).
2.
Where the customer has purchased a product and it breaks, is defective or does not
work properly for the intended purpose, the customer must notify the supplier from
whom the customer bought the product (“the supplier”) thereof within the warranty
period. Any claim in terms of this warranty must be supported by a proof of
purchase. If proof of purchase is not available, then repair, and/or service charges
may be payable by the customer to the supplier.
3.
The faulty product must be taken to the supplier's service centre to exercise the
warranty.
4.
The supplier will refund, repair or exchange the product in terms of this warranty
subject to legislative re uirements. This warranty shall be valid only where the
customer has not broken the product himself, or used the product for something that
it is not supposed to be used for. The warranty does not include and will not be
construed to cover products damaged as a result of disaster, misuse, tamper, abuse
or any unauthorised modification or repair of the product.
5.
This warranty will extend only to the product provided at the date of the purchase
and not to any expendables attached or installed by the customer.
6.
If the customer re uests that the supplier repairs the product and the product breaks
or fails to work properly within 3 (three) months of the repair and not as a result of
misuse, tampering or modification by or on behalf of the customer, then the supplier
may replace the product or pay a refund to the customer.
7.
The customer may be responsible for certain costs where products returned are not
in the original packaging, or if the packaging is damaged. This will be deducted from
any refund paid to the customer.
