• This manual explains howto install an indoorunit with
a split systemwith two SAMSUNG units. The use of
othertypes of unitswith different control systems may
damage the units and invalidate thewarranty. The
manufacturershall not be responsible fordamages
arising from the use of non compliant units.
• The manufacturershall not be responsible fordamage
originating from unauthorized changes orthe
improperconnection of electric and requirements set
forth in the“Operating limits” table, included in the
manual, shall immediatelyinvalidate thewarranty.
• The airconditionershould be used onlyforthe
applications forwhich it has been designed: the indoor
unit is not suitable to be installed in areas usedfor
laundry.
• Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur,
switchthe unit off and disconnect itfrom the power
supply.
• In orderto prevent electric shocks, fires orinjuries,
always stopthe unit, disablethe protection switch
and contact SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit

• Always rememberto inspect the unit, electric
connections, refrigerant tubes and protections
regularly. These operations should be performed by
qualified personnel only.
• The unit contains moving parts,which should always
be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not attemptto repair, move, alterorreinstall the
unit. If performed byunauthorized personnel, these
operations maycause electric shocks orfires.
• Do not place containerswith liquids orotherobjects
on the unit.
• All the materials usedforthe manufacture and
packaging of the airconditionerare recyclable.
• The packing material and exhaust batteries of the
remote controller(optional) must be disposed of in
accordancewith current laws.
• The airconditionercontains a refrigerantthat has
to be disposed of as specialwaste. Atthe end of its
life cycle,the airconditionermust be disposed of in
authorized centres orreturnedto the retailerso that it
can be disposed of correctlyand safely.
• Do not use means to accelerate the defrost operation
orto clean, otherthan those recommended by
Samsung.
• Do not pierce orburn.
• Be aware that refrigerants maynot contain an odour.

IMPORTANT:When installingthe unit,alwaysremember
toconnectfirsttherefrigeranttubes, thenthe electrical
lines.
• Always disassemble the electric lines before the
refrigerant tubes.
• Upon receipt, inspectthe product toverifythat
it has not been damaged during transport. If the
product appears damaged, DO NOTINSTALLit and
immediatelyreport the damage to the carrieror
retailer(if the installerorthe authorized technician has
collected the material from the retailer.)
• Aftercompleting the installation, always carryout a
functional test and provide the instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionerto the user.
• Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipmentthat
release free flames to avoid the occurrence of fires,
explosions orinjuries.
• Do not install the product in a placewhere
thermohygrostat is needed (such as serverroom,
machineryroom, computerroom, etc.). Those places
do not provide guaranteed operation condition of the
producttherefore performance can be poorin these
places.
• Do not install the product in a ship oravehicle (such
as a campervan). Salt,vibration orotherenvironmental
factormaycause the product malfunction, electric
shock orfire.
• Ourunits must be installed in compliancewith the
space specifications presented in the installation
manual in orderto ensure accessibilityfrom both sides
and allowrepairs ormaintenance operations to be
carried out. The unit’s components must be accessible
and easyto disassemblewithout endangering people
and objects. Forthis reason,where it is not observed
as indicated into the Installation Manual, the cost
necessaryto reach and repairthe unit (in safety, as
required bycurrent regulations in force) with slings,
trucks, scaffolding orany othermeans of elevation
won’t be considered in-warrantyand charged to end
user.

• Alwaysverifythat a suitable grounding connection is
available.
• Verifythat the voltage and frequencyof the power
supplycomplywith the specifications and that the
installed poweris sufficient to ensure the operation of
anyotherdomestic appliance connected to the same
electric lines.
• Alwaysverifythat the cut-off and protection switches
are suitablydimensioned.
• Verifythat the air conditioneris connected to the
powersupplyin accordancewith the instructions
provided in thewiring diagram included in the manual.
• Alwaysverifythat electric connections (cable entry,
section of leads, protections…) are compliant with
the electric specifications andwith the instructions
provided in thewiring scheme. Alwaysverify that all
connections complywith the standards applicable to
the installation of airconditioners.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completelydisconnected in the condition of
overvoltage category.
• Be sure notto perform powercable modification,
extensionwiring, and multiplewire connection.
– It maycause electric shock orfire due to poor
connection, poorinsulation, orcurrent limit
override.
– When extensionwiring is required due to power
line damage, referto Step13 Optional: Extending
the powercable in the installation manual.
CAUTION
Makesurethatyou earththecables.
• Do not connect the earthwire to the gas pipe,water
pipe, lighting rod ortelephonewire. If earthing is not
complete, electric shock orfire mayoccur.
Installthe circuitbreaker.
• If the circuit breakeris not installed, electric shock or
fire mayoccur.
Make surethat the condensedwaterdripping fromthe
drainhose runs outproperlyand safely.
Install thepowercable and communication cable of
the indoorand outdoorunit at least1m awayfromthe
electricappliance.
Install theindoorunit awayfrom lighting apparatus
usingthe ballast.
• If you use the wireless remote control, reception error
mayoccurdue to the ballast ofthe lighting apparatus.
Donotinstalltheairconditionerinfollowingplaces.
• Placewhere there is mineral oil orarsenic acid. Resin
parts flame and the accessories maydrop orwater
mayleak. The capacityof the heat exchangermay
reduce orthe airconditionermaybe out of order.
• The placewhere corrosive gas such as sulphuric acid
gas generatesfrom thevent pipe orairoutlet.
• The copperpipe orconnection pipe maycorrode and
refrigerant mayleak.
• The placewhere there is a machine that generates
electromagneticwaves. The airconditionermay not
operate normallydue to control system.
• The placewhere there is a dangerof existing
combustible gas, carbonfibre orflammable dust.
• The placewhere thinnerorgasoline is handled. Gas
mayleak and it maycause fire.

Step2 Choosingtheinstallation

Installationlocationrequirements
• There must be no obstacles nearthe airinlet and outlet.
• Install the indoorunit on a ceiling that can support its
weight.
• Maintain sufficient clearance aroundthe indoorunit.
• Before installing the indoorunit, be sureto check
whetherthe chosen location iswell-drained.
• The indoorunit must be installed such that it is beyond
public access and is not touchable byusers.
• Rigidwallwithoutvibration.
• Where it is not exposed to direct sunshine.
• Wherethe airfiltercan be removed and cleaned easily.
• The placewhere animals mayurinate on the product.
Ammonia maybe generated.
• The placewhere is close to heat sources.
• Do not use the indoorunit forpreservation of food
items, plants, equipment, and artworks. This may
cause deterioration of theirquality.
• Do not install the indoorunit if it has any drainage
problem.

• Becauseyourairconditionercontains R-32 refrigerant,
make sure that it is installed, operated, and stored it
in a roomwhose floorarea is largerthan the minimum
required floorarea specified in the following table:

CAUTION
• As a rule,the unit cannot be installed at a height of
less that 2.5m.
• Ifyou install the cassette orduct type indoorunit on
the ceiling with humidityover80%, you must apply
extra10mm of polyethylenefoam orotherinsulation
with similarmaterial on the bodyof the indoorunit.

CAUTION
• Complywith the length and height limits described in
the figure above.
• Forthe product that usesthe R-32 refrigerant, Install
the indoorunit on thewall 2.2 m orhigherfrom the
floor.
• The indoorunit must be installed according to the
specified distances in orderto permit accessibility
from each side, to guarantee correct operation,
maintenance, and repairof the unit.
The components of the indoorunit must be reachable
and removable undersafe conditions forpeople and
the unit.
• Do not holdthe dischargewhile carrying the indoor
unit to avoid the possibility of breakage.
• You must holdthe hangerplate on the cornerand
carrythe indoorunit.
Step3 Optional:Insulatingthebodyof
theindoorunit
Ifyou install a cassette type indoorunit on the ceiling
when temperature is over27°C and humidityis over
80%,you must applyan extra10 mm thick polyethylene
insulation ora similartype of insulationto the bodyof the
indoorunit.
Cut away the partwhere pipes are pulled out forthe
insulatingwork.
Insulate the end ofthe pipe and some curved area by
using separate insulator.
Step4 Installingtheindoorunit
When deciding on the location of the airconditionerthe
following restrictions must be taken into account.
1 Place the pattern sheet onthe ceiling at the spot
whereyouwant to install the indoorunit.
NOTE
• Since the diagram is made of paper, it may shrink
orstretch slightlydue to temperature orhumidity.
Forthis reason, before drilling the holes, be sure
to maintain the correct dimensions between the
markings.

2 Insert bolt anchors, use existing ceiling supports or
construct a suitable support as shown in figure.

3 Install the suspension bolts, depending on the ceiling
type.

CAUTION
• Make sure that the ceiling is strong enough to support
theweight of the indoorunit. Before hanging the unit,
test the strength of each attached suspension bolt.
• If the length ofthe suspension bolt is more than1.5 m,
you are required to preventvibration.
• If this is not possible, create an opening on the false
ceiling in orderto be able to use itto perform the
required operations onthe indoorunit.
4 Screweight nuts and washersto the suspension bolts,
making space forhanging the indoorunit.
CAUTION
• You must install all of the suspension rods.
• It is important to leave sufficient space in thefalse
ceiling to allowaccess formaintenance orrepairs to
the drainage pipe connection,the refrigerant pipe
connection, orto removethe unit if necessary.
5 Hang the indoorunit to the suspension bolts between
two nuts. Screwthe nuts to suspendthe unit. Cut a
pad stopperand place it on the bracket atthis time.

6 Check the level of the indoorunit by using a leveler.
• Atilt of the indoorunit may cause malfunction of a
built-in float switch andwaterleaks.

7 Adjust the unitto the appropriate position,taking into
account the installation area forthe front panel.
• Placethe patternsheetonthe indoorunit.
• Adjustthe spacebetweenthe ceiling andthe indoor
unitbyusing a dimensiongauge.
• Fix theindoorunitsecurelyafteradjustingthe levelof
theunitbyusingaleveller.

Step5 Purginginertgasfromtheindoorunit
The indoorunit comeswith nitrogen gas (inert gas)
charged atthefactory. Therefore, all inert gas must be
purged before connecting the assemblypiping.

• To prevent dirt orforeign objects from getting intothe
pipes during installation, do not remove the pinch pipe
completely untilyou are readyto connect the piping.
Step6 Cuttingandflaringthepipes
1 Make sure thatyou have the required tools available:
pipe cutter, reamer, flaring tool, and pipe holder.
2 Ifyou wish to shorten the pipes, cut themwith a pipe
cutter, ensuring that the cut edge remains at a 90°
angle to the side of the pipe. Referto the illustrations
belowforexamples of edges cut correctly and
incorrectly.

3 To prevent anygas from leaking out, remove all burrs
at the cut edge of the pipe, using a reamer.
4 Slide a flare nut on to the pipe and modifythe flare.

Therearetwo refrigerantpipesof differentdiameters:
• A smallerone forthe liquid refrigerant.
• A largerone forthe gas refrigerant. The inside of
copperpipe must be clean and has no dust.
1 Removethe pinch pipe on the pipes and connect the
assemblypipes to each pipe, tightening the nuts, first
manuallyand thenwith a torquewrench, a spanner
applying the following torque.

NOTE
• If the pipes must be shortened, see Step6 Cutting

2 Be sureto use an insulatorthick enough to coverthe
refrigerant tube to protect the condensate wateron
the outside of the pipe falling onto the floorand to
improve the efficiencyof the unit.
3 Cut off anyexcessfoam insulation.
4 Make sure that there are no cracks orwaves on the
bent area.
5 Itwould be necessaryto double the insulation
thickness (10 mm ormore)to prevent condensation
even onthe insulatorwhen if the installed area is
warm and humid.
6 Do not use joints orextensions forthe pipes
connecting the indoorand outdoorunits. The only
permitted connections are those forwhich the units
are designed.

CAUTION
• Connect the indoorand outdoorunits using pipes
with flared connections (not supplied). Forthe lines,
use insulated, unwelded, degreased and deoxidized
copperpipe (Cu DHP type to ISO1337 orUNI EN12735-
1), suitable foroperating pressures of at least 4.2 MPa
and fora burst pressure of at least 20.7 MPa. Copper
pipe forhydro-sanitaryapplications is completely
unsuitable.
• Forsizing and limits (height difference, line length,
max. bends, refrigerant charge, etc.) see the outdoor
unit installation manual.
• All refrigerant connection must be accessible, in order
to permit eitherunit maintenance orremoving it
completely.
• If the pipes require brazing, make sure that oxygen
free nitrogen (OFN) is flowing through the system.
• Nitrogen blowing pressure range is 0.02 to 0.05 MPa.
Step8 Performingthegasleaktest
To identifypotential gas leaks on the indoorunit, inspect
the connection area of each refrigerant pipe using a leak
detectorforR-410A.
Before recreating thevacuum and recirculating the
refrigerant gas, pressurize thewhole systemwith
nitrogen (using a cylinderwith a pressure reducer) at a
pressure above 4.1 MPa in orderto immediatelydetect
leaks on the refrigerantfittings.
Madevacuum for15 minutes and pressurizing system
with nitrogen.

Onceyou have checkedthat there are no leaks in the
system, you can insulate the piping and hose.
1 To avoid condensation problems, placeAcrylonitrile
Butadien Rubberseparatelyaround each refrigerant
pipe.

• Always makethe seam of pipesface upwards.
2 Wind insulating tape around the pipes and drain hose
avoiding compressing the insulation too much.
3 Finishwrapping insulating tape aroundthe rest of the
pipes leading to the outdoorunit.
4 The pipes and electrical cables connecting the indoor
unitwith the outdoorunit must be fixed to thewall
with suitable ducts.

CAUTION
• Make surethat all refrigerant connection must be
accessibleforeasymaintenance and detachment.
• Must fit tightlyagainst bodywithout anygap.
• Install the insulation not to getwiderand use the
adhesives on the connection part of it to prevent
moisture from entering.
• Wind the refrigerant pipewith insulation tape if it is
exposed to outside sunlight.
• Install the refrigerant pipe respecting that the
insulation does not get thinneron the bent part or
hangerof pipe.
• Add the additional insulation ifthe insulation plate
gets thinner.

5 Selectthe insulation ofthe refrigerant pipe.
• Insulate the gas side and liquid side pipe, noting the
insulation thickness that must differaccording to the
pipe size.
• Standard: Less than an indoortemperature of 30°C,
with humidityat 85%. If installing in a high humidity
environment, use one grade thickerinsulatorby
referring to the table below. If installing in an
unfavourable environment, use thickerone.
• The heat-resistance temperature of the insulatormust
be more than120°C.

• When installing insulation in the places and conditions
below, use the same insulation that is used forhigh
humidityconditions.

1 Push the supplied drain hose as nearas possible over
the drain socket.
2 Tighten the metal clamp as shown in the picture.
3 Wrapthe supplied large sealing pad overthe metal
clamp and drain hose to insulate and fix itwith clamps.
4 Insulate the complete drain piping inside the building
(field supply).
If the drain hose cannot be sufficientlyset on a slope,
fit the hosewith drain raising piping (field supply).
5 Push the drain hose upto insulation when connecting
the drain hose to drain socket.

CAUTION

at the front of the farthest indoor unit from the main
drain pipe.

an individual airvent at the top of each indoorunit.
– The airvents should be Tor7 shaped to prevent

– You maynot need to install airvent ifthe horizontal
drain pipe is in properslope.

Step11 Performingthedrainagetest
1 Do a leaktest at the connection part of the flexible
hose and the drain pipe:
a Connect a general hose tothe connection part of
the flexible hose of the indoorunit, and pourin
somewater.

b Afterpouring somewater, reassemble the rubber
cap on the connection part of a flexible hose of
the indoorunit and firmlytighten it with a bandto
prevent leakage.
c Check the leak test at the part where the adhesive
forthe flexible hose and the drain pipe is used.
CAUTION
• The leak test must be performed forat least 24 hours.
2 Check the condensed waterdrainage:
a Pourabout 2 liters ofwaterinto the indoorunit
drain pan as shown inthe picture.
b When the electric cable connection is completed
• Turn on the indoorunit and outdoorunit.
• Operate inthe Cool mode.
CAUTION
• Onlyin the Cool mode,you can check the correct
operation of the drain pump.
When the electric cable connection has not been
completed
• Removethe control box coverof the indoorunit.
• Connectthe powersupply(220 to 240V, 50 Hz) to
the Land N terminals.
• Reassemble the control box coverand turn on the
indoorunit.
CAUTION
• When the float switch is not detected due to
insufficientwateron the drain pan, the drain
pumpwill not work.
• If the powersupplyis directlyconnected to the L
and N terminals, communication errormessage
might appear.
• Aftercompleting the drainage check,turnthe unit
off and disconnect the powersupply.
• Reassemble the control box cover.
c Checkwhetherthe drain pumpworks correctly.
d Checkwhetherthe drainage is performing
correctlyat the end of the drain pipe.
e Check forleakage atthe drain pipe and drain pipe
connection part.
f When leakage occurs, checkwhetherthe indoor
unit is level and check the drain hose connection
part, drainpipe connection part and drain pump
connection.
g When the drainage check is completed and
the condensedwaterremains onthe drain pan,
remove thewater.

CAUTION
• Always rememberto connect the refrigerant pipes
before performing the electric connections.
When disconnecting the system, always disconnect
the electric cables before disconnecting the
refrigerant pipes.
• Forthe product that usesthe R-32 refrigerant, be
cautious not to generate a spark bykeeping the
following requirements:
– Do not remove thefuses with poweron.
– Do not disconnect the powerplug from thewall
outletwith poweron.
– It is recommendedto locate the outlet in a high
position. Place the cords so thatthey are not
tangled.
• Always rememberto connect the airconditionerto
the grounding system before performing the electric
connections. Use a crimp ring terminal at the end of
eachwire.
The indoorunit is powered through the outdoorunit by
means of a H07 RN-F connection cable (ora more power
model), with insulation in synthetic rubberand a jacket
in polychloroprene (neoprene), in accordancewith the
requirements specified in the standard EN 60335-2-40.
1 Removethe screwon the electrical component box
and remove the coverplate.
2 Route the connection cordthrough the side of the
indoorunit and connect the cable tothe terminals
referto the figure below.
3 Route the otherend of the cable to the outdoorunit
throughthe ceiling & the hole onthe wall.
4 Reassemble the electrical component box cover,
carefullytightening the screw.

CAUTION
• When installing the indoorunit in a computer

• Peel off 20 mm of cable shields fromthe pre-
installed tube.
CAUTION
• Forinformation about the powercable
specifications forindoorand outdoorunits, referto
the installation manual.
• Afterpeeling off cablewires from the pre-installed
tube, insert a contractiontube.
• If cablewires are connectedwithout using
connecting sleeves, theircontact area becomes
reduced, orcorrosion develops on the outer
surfaces ofthe wires (copperwires) overa long
time. This maycause an increase of resistance
(reduction of passing current) and consequently
mayresult in a fire.
