• Store the operation and installation manual in a safe
location and rememberto hand it overto the newownerif
the airconditioneris sold ortransferred.
• This manual explains howto install an indoorunit with a
split systemwith two SAMSUNG units. The use of other
types of unitswith different control systems may damage
the units and invalidate thewarranty. The manufacturer
shall not be responsible fordamages arising from the use of
non compliant units.
• The manufacturershall not be responsible fordamage
originating from unauthorized changes orthe improper
connection of electric and requirements set forth in the
“Operating limits” table, included in the manual, shall
immediatelyinvalidate the warranty.
• The airconditionershould be used onlyforthe applications
forwhich it has been designed: the indoorunit is not
suitable to be installed in areas used forlaundry.
• Do not use the units if damaged. If problems occur, switch
the unit off and disconnect it from the powersupply.
• In orderto prevent electric shocks, fires orinjuries, always
stop the unit, disablethe protection switch and contact
SAMSUNG’s technical support if the unit produces smoke, if
the powercable is hot ordamaged orif the unit is verynoisy.
• Always rememberto inspect the unit, electric connections,
refrigerant tubes and protections regularly. These
operations should be performed byqualified personnel only.
• The unit contains moving parts,which should always be
kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not attemptto repair, move, alterorreinstall the unit. If
performed byunauthorized personnel, these operations may
cause electric shocks orfires.
• Do not place containerswith liquids orotherobjects on the
unit.
• All the materials usedforthe manufacture and packaging of
the airconditionerare recyclable.
• The packing material and exhaust batteries of the remote
controller(optional) must be disposed of in accordancewith
current laws.
• The airconditionercontains a refrigerant that hasto be
disposed of as specialwaste. Atthe end of its life cycle, the
airconditionermust be disposed of in authorized centres
orreturned to the retailerso that it can be disposed of
correctlyand safely.
• Wearprotective equipment (such as safetygloves, goggles,
and headgear) during installation and maintenanceworks.
Installation/repairtechnicians maybe injured if protective
equipment is not properly equipped.
• This appliance is not intended foruse bypersons (including
children)with reduced physical, sensory ormental

• Upon receipt, inspectthe product toverifythat
it has not been damaged during transport. If the
product appears damaged, DO NOTINSTALLit and
immediatelyreport the damage to the carrieror
retailer(if the installerorthe authorized technician has
collected the material from the retailer.)
• Aftercompleting the installation, always carry out a
functional test and provide the instructions on howto
operatethe airconditionerto the user.
• Do not use the airconditionerin environmentswith
hazardous substances orclose to equipmentthat
release free flames to avoid the occurrence of fires,
explosions orinjuries.
• Do not install the product in a place where thermo-
hygrostat is needed (such as serverroom, machinery
room, computerroom, etc.) Those places do not
provide guaranteed operation condition of the product
therefore performance can be poorin these places.
• Do not install the product in a ship ora vehicle (such as
a campervan).
Salt, vibration orother environmental factormaycause
the product malfunction, electric shock orfire.
• Ourunits should be installed in compliance withthe
spaces shown in the installation manual,to ensure
accessibilityfrom both sides and allowrepairs or
maintenance operations to be carried out. The
unit’s components should be accessible and easy to
disassemblewithout endangering people and objects.
• Forthis reason,when provisions ofthe installation
manual are not compliedwith, the cost required to
access and repairthe units (in SAFETY CONDITIONS,
as set out in prevailing regulations)with harnesses,
ladders, scaffolding orany otherelevation system will
NOTbe considered part of thewarrantyandwill be
chargedto the end customer.

• Alwaysverifythat a suitable earthing connection is
available.
• Verifythat the voltage and frequencyof the power
supplycomplywith the specifications and that the
installed poweris sufficient to ensure the operation of
anyotherdomestic appliance connected to the same
electric lines.
• Alwaysverifythat the cut-off and protection switches
are suitably dimensioned.
• Verifythat the air conditioneris connected to the
powersupplyin accordancewith the instructions
provided in thewiring diagram included in the manual.
• Alwaysverifythat electric connections (cable entry,
section of leads, protections…) are compliant with
the electric specifications andwith the instructions
provided in thewiring scheme. Alwaysverify that all
connections complywith the standards applicable to
the installation of airconditioners.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completelydisconnected in the condition of
overvoltage category.
• Be sure notto perform powercable modification,
extensionwiring, and multiplewire connection.
– It maycause electric shock orfire due to
poorconnection, poorinsulation, orcurrent limit
override.
– When extensionwiring is required due to power
line damage, referto "Step 4 Optional: Extending
the powercable" in the installation manual.

Step1 Choosingtheinstallationlocation
Installationlocationrequirements
• Do not place the outdoorunit on its side orupside
down. Failing to do so maycause the compressor
lubrication oil to run into the cooling circuit and lead
to a serious damage to the unit.
• Install the unit in a well-ventilated location away from
direct sunlight orstrongwinds.
• Install the unit in a location thatwould not obstruct
anypassageways orthoroughfares.
• Install the unit in a location thatwould not
inconvenience ordisturb yourneighbors, as theycould
be affected bythe noise orthe airflowcoming from
the unit.
• Install the unit in a locationwhere the pipes and the
cables can be easilyconnected to the indoorunit.
• Install the unit on a flat, stable surfacethat can
withstand theweight of the unit. Otherwise, the unit
can generate noise and vibration during operation.
• Install the unit so that the airflow is directed towards
the open area.
• Maintain sufficient clearance around the outdoorunit,
especiallyfrom a radio, computer, stereo system, etc.

• Install the unit at a heightwhere its base can be firmly
fixed in place.
• Make sure that thewaterdripping from the drain hose
runs awaycorrectlyand safely.
CAUTION
• You have just purchased a system airconditionerand it
has been installed byyourinstallation specialist.
• This device must be installed according tothe national
electrical rules.
• Ifyouroutdoorunit exceeds a netweight of 60 kg, do
not install it on a suspendedwall, but stand it on a
floor.
• When installing the outdoorunit at the seaside, make
surethat it is not directly exposedto sea breeze. If
you cannotfind an adequate place free from direct
sea breeze, construct a protection wall ora protective
fence.
– Install the outdoorunit in a place (such as near
buildings etc.)where it can be prevented from sea
breeze. Failure to do so may cause a damageto the
outdoorunit.

• Ifyou cannot avoid installing the outdoorunit at the
seaside, construct a protection wall aroundto block
the sea breeze.
• Construct a protection wallwith a solid material such
as concrete to block the sea breeze. Make sure that the
height and thewidth of the wall are1.5 times larger
than the size ofthe outdoorunit. Also, secure a space
largerthan 700 mm between the protectionwall and
the outdoorunit forexhausted airto ventilate.

CAUTION
• Depending on the condition of powersupply, unstable
powerorvoltage maycause malfunction of the parts
orcontrol system. (At the ship orplaces using power
supplyfrom electric generator...etc)
• Installtheunit in aplacewherewatercan drainsmoothly.
• Ifyou have anydifficultyfinding installation location as
prescribed above, contactyourmanufacturerfordetails.
• Be sure to clean the sea waterand the dust on the
heat exchangerof the outdoorunit and applya
corrosion inhibitoron it. (At least once in a year.)
• Check the condition of the product periodically.
– Check the installation site every3 months and
perform anti-corrosion treatment such as R-Pro
supplied by SAMSUNG (Code: MOK-220SA) or
commercialwaterrepellent grease and wax, etc.,
based on the product condition.
– When the product is to be shut down fora long
period of time, such as off-peak hours, take
appropriate measures like covering the product.
• If the product installedwithin 500m of seashore,
special anti-corrosiontreatment is required.

Install the outdoorunit on a rigid and stable base to
prevent disturbance from anynoise caused byvibration.
When installing the unit at a height orin a location

(i.e., awall ora ground).
Fix the outdoorunit with anchorbolts. Make surethat the

following:

Step3 Connectingthepowercables,
communicationcable,and controllers
You must connect the following three electrical cables to
the outdoorunit:
• The main powercable between the auxiliarycircuit
breaker and the outdoorunit.
• The outdoor-to-indoorpowercable betweenthe
outdoorunit and the indoorunit.
• The communication cable between the outdoorunit
and the indoorunit.
CAUTION
• During installation, makefirst the refrigerant
connections and then the electrical connections. If the
unit is uninstalled, first disconnectthe electrical cables
and then the refrigerant connections.
• Connectthe airconditionerto the earthing system
before making the electrical connections.
NOTE
• Especially, ifyouroutdoorunit is the one designed for
Russian and European markets, consult the supply
authority, if necessary,to estimate and reduce the
supplysystem impedance before installation.

CAUTION
• You should connect the powercable intothe power
cableterminal and fasten it with a clamp.
• The unbalanced powermust be maintainedwithin 2%
of supplyrating.
If the poweris unbalanced greatly, it may shorten
the life of the condenser. If the unbalanced poweris
exceeded over4% of supplyrating, the indoorunit is
protected, stopped andthe errormode indicates.
• To protect the product fromwaterand possible shock,
you should keep the powercable and the connection
cord ofthe indoorand outdoorunits within ducts. (with
appropriate IPrating and material selection foryour
application)
• Ensurethat main supplyconnection is made through a
switchthat disconnects all poles,with contact gap of a
least 3 mm.
• Devices disconnected from the powersupplyshould
be completely disconnected in the condition of
overvoltage category.
• Keep distances of 50 mm ormore between power
cable and communication cable.

CAUTION
• When connecting cables, you can connect the cables to
the electrical part orconnect them throughthe holes

external forces, and feed the conduit through thewall
togetherwith refrigerant piping.
• Remove all burrs atthe edge of the knock-out hole
and secure the cable to the outdoorknock-out using
lining and bushing with an electrical insulation such as
rubberand so on.
• Must keep the cable in a protection tube.
• Keep distances of 50mm ormore between powercable

• When the cables are connected through the hole,
remove the Plate bottom.

the nuts could be broken so refrigerant may leak.
• Protect orenclose refrigerant tubing to avoid
mechanical damage.
• Afterinstalling pipes, blockthe unused knock hole
to prevent small animal from entering. However, the
radiant heat hole(A) should be able to intake air.

CAUTION
• When installing, make sure there is no leakage.When
recovering the refrigerant, ground the compressorfirst
before removing the connection pipe. If the refrigerant
pipe is not properly connected and the compressor
workswith the servicevalve open, the pipe inhales the
airand it makes the pressure inside of the refrigerant
cycle abnormally high. It maycause explosion and
injury.
The airin the indoorunit and in the pipe must be
evacuated. If airremains in the refrigerant pipes, it will
affectthe compressoreitherreduce cooling capacityor
lead to a malfunction. Refrigerantforairpurging is not
charged inthe outdoorunit. Use Vacuum Pump as shown

5 Purgethe airfrom the system using vacuum pumpfor
about10 minutes.
• Close thevalve of the lowpressure side of manifold
gauge clockwise.
• Make sure that pressure gauge shows -0.1 MPa (-76
cmHg) afterabout10 minutes. This procedure is
veryimportant to avoid a gas leak.
• Turn off the vacuum pump.
• Remove the hose ofthe lowpressure side of
manifold gauge.
6 Open the stopvalve of both liquid and gas sides.
7 Mount thevalve stem nuts and the service port capto
ϩ˵ʪЭɇЭʪࡥɇʒϩ˝˵ϩʪϩ˵ʪɇϩϩ˵ʪϩͱθαЇʪͱ˙ߣߪߥ˝˙҃ʀ
with a torquewrench.
8 Check forgas leakage.
• At this time, especiallycheck forgas leakage from
the 3-wayvalve’s stem nuts(A port), and from the
service port cap.
CAUTION
• Connect the indoorand outdoorunits using pipes with
flared connections (not supplied). Forthe lines, use
insulated, unwelded, degreased and deoxidized copper
pipe, (Cu DHPtype to ISO1337 orUNI EN12735-1),
suitable foroperating pressures of at least 4200 kPa and
fora burst pressure of at least 20700 kPa. Copperpipe
forhydro-sanitaryapplications is completelyunsuitable.
• Forsizing and limits (height difference, line length,
max. bends, refrigerant charge, etc.) see“Connecting
refrigerant pipe section”.
Step9 Addingrefrigerant(R-410A)
• The outdoorunit is loaded with sufficient refrigerant
forthe standard piping. Thus, refrigerant must be
added if the piping is lengthened. This operation
can onlybe performed bya qualified refrigeration
specialist. To determine the quantityof refrigerant
charge, see Calculatingthe quantityof refrigerant to
add on page 21.
1 Check if the stopvalve is closed completely.
2 AC052/071TXADKC : Charge the refrigerantthrough
the service port of the gas stopvalve.
AC100/120/140/160TXAD*C : Charge the refrigerant
throughthe service port of the liquid stopvalve.
