DG-1
DIGITAL GAS DETECTORS
dg1_en 05/09
The DG-1 microproce or-ba ed digital ga detector are characterized by reliability and low
current con umption. Due to a digital temperature compen ation feature they can operate
within a wide temperature range. Ga concentration above the thre hold level trigger vi ual
and audible alarm ignal . The detector are intended to u ed a part of a ecurity y tem.
The DG-1 erie of digital ga detector include the following product :
DG-1 CO – carbon monoxide detector;
DG-1 LPG – propane-butane ga detector;
DG-1 ME – natural ga (methane) detector;
DG-1 TCM – oporific ga detector (e.g. chloroform vapor ).

board of DG-1 TCM detector differ in ize and hape of the ga en or in talled.
Explanations to Fig. 1:
1 – terminal :
NC – alarm relay (NC)
TMP – tamper contact

2 DG-1 SATEL
COM – common ground
12V – power upply input
2 – LED indicator. Indicate by blinking activation, trouble and alarm of the detector.
Depending on the detector type, the following LED color are u ed:
- red – DG-1 CO ( en or type TGS2442)
- green – DG-1 LPG ( en or type TGS2610)
- ellow – DG-1 ME ( en or type TGS2611)
- blue – DG-1 TCM ( en or type TGS832)
3 – buzzer. Indicate acou tically activation, trouble and alarm of the detector.
4 – ga en or.
5 – tamper contact. Opening of the hou ing i ignaled on TMP terminal .
6 – fixing crew hole.
7 – buzzer ON/OFF pin . Set the jumper to enable the audible ignal, remove the jumper to
di able it.
1. Alarm signaling
Depending on the detector type, the condition of alarm ignaling vary. They are de cribed in
Table 1. Additionally, the DG-1 LPG and DG-1 ME detector feature the prealarm function.

Table 1. Condition of alarm/prealarm ignaling by the detector .
Ga concentration reaching the dangerou level will trigger the alarm ignal (vi ual and
audible) and open the alarm relay. The alarm i ignaled by long ound and LED blinking,
eparated by long interval (1 econd LED blinking/ ound, 1 econd interval, etc.). The alarm
ignaling i on for the whole duration of dangerou ga concentration. Al o the relay will
remain open until the ga concentration drop below the alarm level. The gas sensor
reaction to a decrease in the dangerous gas concentration is dela ed, hence the alarm
signaling can stop even a few minutes after the gas concentration has dropped below
the alarm level.
The prealarm i ignaled by hort ound and LED fla he , eparated by long interval
(0.25 econd LED blinking/ ound, 1.75 econd interval, etc.). The ignaling continue a long
a the methane/propane-butane concentration i above the 10% lower explo ive limit, but
ju t below the 20% lower explo ive limit. The prealarm ha no effect on the alarm relay
tatu . The audible ignaling can be di abled by removal of the BUZ jumper.
2. Autodiagnostics
The detector i monitoring the upply voltage (voltage drop below 9 V (±5%) will trigger
a failure alarm) and te ting performance of the ga en or. Trouble are indicated by hort
ound ignal and LED fla he eparated by hort interval (0.25 econd LED
blinking/ ound, 0.25 econd interval, etc.). During a failure ituation the alarm relay contact
will open.

3. Installation and commissioning
The DG-1 digital gas detectors are designed for indoor installation.
Considering specific character of the gases to be detected, the DG-1 TCM and
DG-1 LPG detectors should be mounted in low position, just above the floor,
the DG-1 ME detector in high position, just under the ceiling, and DG-1 CO
detector at a height of about 1.5 meter.
1. Open the hou ing a hown in Fig. 2.
Fig. 2. Opening the detector hou ing.
2. Remove the electronic board.
3. Make uitable opening for crew and cable in the rear hou ing panel.
4. Pa the cable through the opening prepared.
5. Secure the rear hou ing panel to the wall.
6. Fa ten the electronic board.
7. Connect the lead to corre ponding terminal .
8. U ing the jumper, decide whether the buzzer i to be enabled, or not.
9. Clo e the detector hou ing, making ure that the matchmark on the cover and on the
rear hou ing panel are aligned ( ee Fig. 3).
10. Switch on power upply of the ecurity y tem. Putting the detector into operation i
ignaled by three hort ound , accompanied by blinking of the LED.
Notes:
• It is not recommended to install the detector in spaces where industrial type equipment is
working.
• During the detector operation the gas sensor heats up.
• The DG-1 detectors are tested during production process with special gas mixtures. It is
not allowed to test the detector by any improvised methods e.g. by using gas lighter gas).
Wherever it is necessary to confirm functionality of the detector, use the testing kits offered
by SATEL.
• The DG-1 TCM detector does not work selectively. Alarm may be triggered not only by
chloroform vapors, but also by vapors of paints, lacquers, or alcohol, as well as by other
organic compounds e.g. refrigerants, like freon chlorofluorocarbon), tetrafluoroethane, or
chlorodifluoromethane, but also by cat urine).
• In the first five minutes after power-up, the DG-1 TCM detector is stabilizing and alarm
may be triggered during that time.
