MAINTAINING YOUR SAUNA AFTER INSTALLATION
1. Was t e layer of rock dust off of t e sauna rocks before using t em.
2. W en your sauna is set up and working you s ould “break-in” t e sauna before using it for t e first time. Turn it on its
ig est setting and keep it like t at for about 1 our. T is is recommended to burn off any oils and impurities from
manufacturing, and it also “cures” t e woodwork. After about ¾ our, slowly pour about one litre of cold water on t e
rocks. It s ould all turn to steam and not come out of t e bottom of t e eater. If it does, you’re pouring too fast.
3. It is considered good sauna etiquette t at guests take a s ower wit soap and sit on a double-layer of terryclot towels
to prevent perspiration from getting onto t e benc es and walls w ere t e oils will accumulate over time. After eac
use, leave t e door fully open for t e wood to dry out. Duck boards can be lifted up to air out if necessary.
4. Under normal conditions, a slig t was of t e floor and benc es several times a year will maintain its cleanliness. T e
cedar benc es can be was ed wit a mild solution of liquid cleaner and water to remove any buildup and perspiration
stains from t e wood. Never use ammonia or ars cleaners as t ey can turn t e wood gray.
5. Good care s ould be taken of t e wooden bucket and ladle. T ey s ould be stored upside down to promote drying.
6. T e peridotite sauna rocks may need to be replaced in 6 to 10 years depending on severity and frequency of use. In
many cases, t e rocks could last up to 15 years.
7. Do NOT use commercial wood sealers from local lumberyards or ardware stores. T ese are not designed to wit stand
t e sauna temperatures or umidity!
