Network Requirements
Savant requires the use of a wireless network that is configured to
make use of at least one of the supported wireless Standards listed in
the Specifications Table.
Connect all Savant devices to the same local area network (LAN) or
subnet as the Host. Savant recommends not implementing any type
of traffic or packet shaping in your network topology for the Savant
devices as this may interfere with performance.
Network Configuration
To ensure that the IP Address will not change due to a power outage,
a static IP Address or DHCP reservation should be configured.
Savant recommends using DHCP reservation within the router. By
using this method, IP Addresses for all devices can be managed from
a single UI, avoiding the need to access devices individually.
Setting DHCP reservation varies from router to router. Refer to the
documentation for the router to configure DHCP reservation.

Remote Base and Simple Host LED States
The Status LED on the rear of the Simple Host and bottom of the Remote Base gives an indication of the state of that device. The table below
lists all the states the devices can get into and what they mean. If the LED Status described below is not the same on both devices, or if the
status described is relevant on only one device, the description in the table will indicate this.
Off - No Power
On Solid (Green)
Remote Base - The Remote Base is connected to the local network and communicating with the Savant Host.
Simple Host – The Host is provisioned and connected to the local network.
On Solid (Yellow) – Device is rebooting. State of the LED will change once the boot is complete.
Slow Blink (Yellow)- In Provisioning Mode and is ready to be added to the local network.
Rapid Blink (Yellow)- The locate feature was activated using SmartConnect.
Slow Blink (Green)
Remote Base Only - The Remote Base is provisioned and connected to the local network but not yet communicating with
the Savant Host
Rapid Blink (Red) - The reset button on the Remote Base or Simple Host has been held down for at least five seconds.
When button is released, the rapid blink will stop and the device will reboot.
Slow Blink Yellow/Green
Remote Base Only – The firmware on the Remote Base is updating.
Installation
The Simple Host and Remote should be placed on a flat surface such as a table, cabinet, or shelf. This surface should be dry, well ventilated, and
out of direct sunlight. Plug the supplied power cord into a 120 – 240V AC 50/60Hz outlet receptacle. Once power is applied, the device will
boot (25-30 seconds), the status LED will begin blinking yellow indicating it is in provisioning mode and needs to be added to the local
network.
Placement of Remote Base
The Remote Base incorporates the IR emitter diodes that transmit the IR
signaling; NOT the Remote. The Remote Base contains (6) IR emitter
diodes that cover a 360° swath around the base as well as (2) IR emitters
that transmit the signaling vertically up from the top. The images to the
right show this.
Set the Remote Base in an area that is within the line of sight of any
devices being controlled and not behind any furniture or similar object that
can block the IR signaling. Since the Remote Base communicates with the
Host via the Wi-Fi router, the Remote Base does not need to be within line
of sight of the Host.
Connections / System Diagrams
Both the Simple Host and Remote Base communicate in the Savant Pro System over the local Wi-Fi network. There are no wired connections
required. The image below displays the Remote, Remote Base, and Simple Host and how they communicate with each other in a Savant Pro
System.
Once the system is set up, refer to the Pro Remote REM-1000 Deployment Guide and Simple Host Deployment Guide located on the Savant
Customer Community for provisioning and RacePoint Blueprint configuration information.
Additional Information:
-!To provision the Simple Host and Pro Remote to the local network, the Savant SmartConnect application is required. Provisioning
information for both products is available in their respective deployment guides. See Additional Documentation section below.
-!The Pro Remote and Base need to be within 30 feet (9.14m) of each other to communicate.
-!The Remote will automatically initiate a software install if it is left cradled overnight and no A/V services are active. For the update to
initiate during the overnight hours, the software must be downloaded to the Remote (but not installed).
-!Software updates can be initiated manually from the About page on the Pro Remote if software is loaded on the Remote, but not yet
installed. An Update Now button will appear indicating the software is loaded on the Remote, but not installed.
-!The Pro Remote Base receives firmware updates when a newer version is available from the Host.
-!If the Simple Host requires a software upgrade, refer to the Pro Simple Host Deployment Guide. See Additional Documentation section
below.
