high fidelity tone control
in norse mythology, loki is the trickster god.
like the trick of improving imperfect audio systems.
because, let’s face it: no transducer or recording is perfect.
and you might have your own ideas about sonic perfection.
enjoy loki, the high-fidelity tone control

Where to put Loki? You can connect Loki either
in-between your source and preamp (if you have
a single source) or between the preamp and
power amp (so it can be used with all sources.)
1 Input Jacks. Connect your source or preamp
to Loki’s “IN” RCA jacks with high-quality RCA
cables. Or you can use crappy cables (but why?)
2 Output Jacks. Connect the “OUT” RCA jacks
to your preamp or power amp, again with good
cables.

3 Power Input. Connect the supplied wall-wart
cable to the jack labeled “16VAC.” Do not use any
other wall-wart, or bad things might happen.
4 Power Switch. Turn on the switch. The
protection relay will mute the output for 8-10
seconds, then it will engage with a click.

1Bass Adjustment. (20Hz) Turning the knob
clockwise increases bass, turning it counter-
clockwise decreases bass. Like all the adjust-
ments on Loki, it has a gradual effect when
rst turned off of the center position, for subtle
adjustments.
2 Midbass Adjustment. (400Hz) As before, clock-
wise increases, counter-clockwise decreases.
3 Midrange Adjustment. (2kHz) You’ve got the
clockwise/counterclockwise thing now, right?

4 Treble Adjustment (8kHz). Clockwise = more,
counterclockwise = less.
5 Bypass. Up = tone control active, down =
completely bypassed (only a relay and resistor in
the signal path.)
Note: when Loki is turned off it is technically
bypassed, but the unpowered input may cause
distortion in some systems. Best to turn it on
and switch it to bypass the tone controls.
