Hydrim M2 Washer Disinfector Installation Requirements
Note:
•The Hydrim M2 unit should only be installed by a trained, Scican approved
technician.
•Installation should only proceed after the satisfactory completion of the pre
installation documentation.

There are several factors that may affect the performance of your Hydrim. Please review
these factors, before installation and ensure the location is suitable.
• Temperature and Humidity
Avoid installing your Hydrim in direct sunlight or close to a heat source (e.g. vents or
radiators). The recommended operating temperatures are +5 to +40°C with humidity of
50% to 80%, depending on the temperature (non condensing moisture).
• Spacing
The vents and openings on the Hydrim should remain uncovered and unobstructed. Leave
a minimum of 10 mm between the top, sides and back of the unit and any wall or partition.
• Venting
The Hydrim should be operated in a clean, dust free environment.
• Floor Surface
The Hydrim should be placed on a flat, level, water-resistant surface. Never install and
operate the unit on a sloped surface.
• Electromagnetic Environment
The Hydrim has been tested and meets applicable standards for electromagnetic
emissions. While the unit does not emit any radiation, it may itself be affected by other
equipment which does. We recommend that the unit be kept away from potential sources
of interference.
• Electrical Requirements
Use properly grounded and fused power sources with the same voltage rating as indicated
on the label at the back of your Hydrim. Avoid multiple outlet receptacles. If using a surge
suppressor power bar, plug in one Hydrim only.

Unpacking the unit.
The Hydrim M2 is shipped on a pallet and encased in a cardboard carton. The unit will be
retained on the pallet with strapping. To remove the unit from the packaging, proceed as
follows:
1. Examine exterior packaging for damage. If damaged, notify the dealer immediately.
2. Cut the retaining straps and remove from around the unit/pallet.
3. Lift the cardboard carton off the machine.
4. Remove the foam protective packing from the top of the machine.
5. Lift the machine free from the pallet and base protective packaging. CAUTION:
THE UNIT IS HEAVY! (80 KGS). Ensure that adequate and appropriate
handling devices are available or sufficient personnel are available in
accordance with local or National Health and Safety requirements.
6. Position the unit close to the point of installation.
7. Remove and dispose of all packaging as appropriate and recycle as much as
possible.
Installing the unit
1. Inventory Check.
Pull open unit door and check contents (add or as appropriate):
Hydrim unit
Operators manual
Carrier (trolley) x 2
Instrument baskets (Optional)
Water feed pipe – ‘hot/RO’ (Should be attached to machine)
Water feed pipe – ‘cold’ (Should be attached to machine)
Drain tube (Should be attached to machine)
Water hardness test kit
Salt for regeneration unit
NOTE! Hydrim Cleaning Solution (CS-HIPL) is required to run the machine and is
NOT included with the machine. Please ensure cleaning solution has been
separately provided prior to installation.
2. Unit installation and installation qualification
Set up unit as follows (add or as appropriate):
Locate unit in approximate position
Remove internal support packaging
Connect water feed pipes to relevant services
Connect drain tube to relevant services and secure

Connect solution bottle
Connect machine to appropriate power supply
Install printer/data logger as appropriate
Remove protective film from external surfaces
Clean external surfaces.
Locate and level machine in final position
Measure the water hardness, water conductivity and pH value and compare the results
with the values of the pre-installation Service Advice Sheet SD-354 entitled – “Hydrim M2
Washer Disinfector Pre installation requirements”. Set the built-in water softener system
according to the settings recommended in the M2 Operator Manual.
If the test results of any of the water parameters exceed the stated problem levels in the
Service Advice Sheet SD-354, a full water analysis is recommended and the installation of
a water treatment system may be required to achieve satisfying cleaning results with the
Hydrim.

NOTE! Before switching on the unit itself:
•Turn on the water supply isolators and check for static leaks.
•Check that power cable, feed pipes and drain tube are not kinked or
compromising each other.
•Ensure power cable is not touching pipes or part of the machine that are
liable to get hot.
•Turn on the power supply at the main connection.
Switch on unit via fascia switch – allow unit to prime (automatic)
Switch off unit
Switch on unit again and touch ‘i’ to enter menu screen
Select ‘Setup’ menu and set up the following as appropriate
•Unit number
•Language
•Date/Time
•Screen saver
•Temperature units
•Button ‘beep’
•Logger/printer selection as appropriate
•Logger/printer Baud rate
•Regeneration unit
•Screen contrast
On completion of the above, scroll back through menu to main screen. Switch the unit off
via fascia switch.
